VIPCars.com has a lot of fine prints. People with poor english answering the phone. Poor customer service and they will also take your money and not refund you if you need to return your car early. As a matter of fact they will give you a hidden fee for returning the car early. I had an emergency that took me out of the country. Very poor practices. They also charge you "administrative" fees for pretty much anything.

We reserved a car with VIP Cars in the "Suzuki Celerio or similar" class
We reserved a car with VIP Cars in the "Suzuki Celerio or similar" class. 3 days before the booking, we were emailed and told that we were being "upgraded" to the "Suzuki Celerio or similar" (yes, the same exact class!) for an additional fee because "our original car" was unavailable. Again, it was the EXACT same class, but now for a $12 extra fee. I emailed multiple times and asked the company to waive the extra fee for the "upgrade" that we never requested that was not even an upgrade. We also specifically booked a car with unlimited km, which was the most important factor in choosing our rental. However, I was informed at the counter that I was only to be given a 600 km allowance, which was not in alignment with the original rental conditions. When I reached out to the company for resolution, they said it was "only a small fare increase" and denied my request. I feel that this is completely inappropriate and that just because it's a "small fare increase" doesn't make it right.

I reserved a rental car through VIPCars for my honeymoon abroad. In their system, I used 12 pm as a placeholder without knowing the flight schedule. I assumed there was a counter with a car lot so picking up later than expected would be fine and dropping off earlier than expected would be appreciated. The pickup was scheduled for February 26, we communicated to their point of contact abroad that we would be arriving around 10 pm local time not 12 pm as indicated. They arrived 1.5 hours late with the car on empty, with almost bald tires and a dirty interior. Once I got to my destination with WiFi, I asked the rental company for another car as I didn't feel these car tires would make the journey. They told me that they had no other cars available. The dropoff was scheduled for March 25 at 12 pm but in reality, we needed to drop off the car at 7 am as our flight departed at 11 am. We notified the company the day prior of this during which time they quoted us an "outside of operating" fee of 70 euros and the earliest they could meet us is 8 am. They also said that I wouldn't be getting my security deposit back if I wasn't able to wait while they conducted their inspection to which I said that was unfair as we do not want to miss our flight. I spoke with VIPCars who advised the fee should be 40 euros and that they should meet us whenever we request. The contacts from their rental car partners called me multiple times yelling at me and calling me a liar then called my husband (during Ramadan) to tell him that his wife is a liar. After we dropped off the car, they told us various outlandish claims about detailing for 200 euros and a broken windshield for 380 euros. Essentially they will be keeping the entire 500 euro deposit on the car. I feel that VIPCars is responsible for their partner's poor business practices and would like reimbursed for the full deposit.
