I am a two time victim of identity theft and VitalChek took all my information, including credit card only to ask for my social at the end. When I canceled out and refused to give that piece of information, they sent me an email saying if I do not send them more, they would charge my card anyway. I did send them an HD blown up copy of my DL hoping this would resolve the issue. Instead, they came back again, claiming the fax could not be read, and asking for more information to compromise my identity. If this is not a scam, I do not know what is.

Here is how it works. You pay VitalChek to get your record/s. They take your money and information then turn the info over to the appropriate state's department that handles birth, death, marriage etc. certificates. They are done. Doesn't matter how many times you call for status update, the answer is the same, they don't know. All they can tell you is that your document has been ordered. This service is a waste of money. It is no quicker and you get no special handling than you would have received if you had filed for the documents for yourself. Don't waste your money!

This company is still ignoring request from NYS/NYC in cancelling an order that should have not been processed!

Pending investigations have been opened with the FTC, NYC Attorney General's office, Consumer affairs and Department of Investigations and the office of the inspector General NYS office.

I ordered on June 18 2021. I called and sent emails after the 45 days they said it might take. (business days) They sent me an email saying it would be August 24th 2021. After not receiving it, I emailed and called them. They said they would look into it. It is August 29th, 2021. Still nothing. My order number: [protected]. The August 16 email said it was resolved, BUT IT IS NOT Solved. The August 25th email shows it is not solved. I need this birth certificate. Here is the emails: Thank you for your question. Ordered a birth certificate from the City of Detroit on May 13. 2021 through VitalChek with the promised delivery date within 50 business days. Today (Aug 10, 2021) I have not received a birth certificate and attempts to access my order status give a message saying call them at [protected]; a subsequent call to that number indicates they are not going to answer the phone. I am caught in a catch 22.
To complicate matters, the Dept of State has cashed my check for a passport and has given me until Aug 23 to respond with a birth certificate.
Wasted $$ to VitalChek and wasted $$ to Dept of State.

I filed a Brooklynn New York birth certificate request online with VitalChek on May 13, 2021. New York website advised this is the only way to get one. I paid them $23.30 by credit card. It has been three months and still no certificate. I have called the New York Health Department twice and they advised that they were having trouble with VitalChek sending in the requests.

My mom and sister died suddenly in November of 2020. I can't get any of their assets because I have to "prove" that I'm related to them. Everything I had that did so was lost in the fire. I need my dad's death certificate because his name is on my mom's bank account. I ordered these things in March. I changed addresses but I rectified it with mail forwarding. It is now almost August, still nothing. It's extremely stressful and since I am the only living memeber of my immediate family I am infuriated at how little care has been done with my order.

On July 23, 2021, I called at 8:11 am to inquire about the whereabouts of the information that was paid for. A customer service rep named Charrise (if spell wrong it started with the letter C) came on the line at 8:15 am. I stated (yes, I am upset) to her that I had not received my son information. She asked me several questions before she would provide the information. I stated to her that this order was placed on APRIL 16, 2021, and where is my son information? I have PAID to much money to not have received the information, it is going on 4 MONTHS and nothing! The customer rep all she could say was that, I see this is well pasted the window of not receiving and it will take between 3 - 5 days before someone can be in touch with you. At this point I am getting upset, I have to continue to wait for a respond. She then ask for a phone number, I tell her that they can send any information by way of email. she stated that the only way to send information is by phone. I tell her that I work between 9:30 am to 6pm and I can't answer any phones. She asked if there is a number to leave a message. I gave a number where if someone calls could leave a message. She then proceeded to tell me that someone will be in touch and before I could ask any additional question, she hung up the phone. I asked that the phone call be played back to be heard since call are monitored.

They took money for a birth certificate fee after icancelled it 10 mins later.. They said its a modest fee.. For what?
Its not a modest and you should not charge the card if its not finalized I had not even. Got my notary or licence together but you charged me still. A month after I already cancelled. It you guys are pathetic! I dont see how they still operate like this!

I ordered a copy of my birth certificate on Apr. 30, 2021. I paid $71.70. I was told that it would take 30 days to receive the birth certificate. After 30 days I haven't received my copy yet. I've notified them twice and still no birth certificate. My order number is

I ordered 2 copies of marriage certificates in early May 2021. They charged full amount up front of more than $110. Then a few days later I received a ups package that contains nothing but a negative statement saying cannot find my record due to incomplete data indexes?! I don't think that's $110's worth so tried to reach their customer service. i had sent 3 emails w/out responses. Then I tried to call them multiple times, but was put on hold forever ( for once i waited almost 40 mins and still couldn't talk to anyone). This is a total scam!

I ordered on 3/3/21. Waited 30 business to email them. I was told my info wasn't acknowledged until 3/26/21, & to be patient. Well I waited another month and emailed on 5/9/21 and was told 7 days later that I was in my last week of waiting. Welp still no birth certificate. When I call, I'm on hold 1 hour and the phones hangs up. Iv tried to call 11x. Countless emails and no action has been taken on my behalf. Help!

I ordered my Marriage license and Certificate on April 01, 2021 and it sat with the label made at your VitalChek office . The first notification for delivery was set for April 04, 2021 through UPS. I went onto the VitalChek site and entered my Order number-[protected] with pin, and it said it was shipped. I stayed home everyday through the 19th of April. I called UPS and asked about the order numerous times when I did not receive the forms on April 04, 2021 and they kept saying a label was made, but they had NOT received it from VitalChek. The VitalChek website continued to say it was shipped! I called two times and sat on the phone for over an hour both times.
I also sent a couple of emails asking about the order as there was no answer by phone and there was no reply. I finally asked for a refund as I no longer needed the forms, no reply, and I finally received my forms! Nineteen (19) days from day I ordered them!
This is frustrating to your customers.
I paid almost $100 for these 2 forms. The wedding certificate is on plain certificate paper. The certificate of vital records is on government paper stock. Neither has a punched seal.
I paid $2.50 for both through Arapahoe County and they were certified. I got them in two days!)
You Overcharged by a lot! You put both certificates in one UPS envelope and charged me $20 a piece for a total shipping of $40.00 to just mail it! The address of mailing was Cherry Creek in Denver, Colorado. I could have picked up the forms the day you printed them. I am not happy.
I will not be giving your company information out to anyone. You are a scam. My husband is a disabled Veteran and we are on a budget. I was applying for Social Security and needed the forms. I am Very Disappointed and will not use VitalChek again.

I went to the Santa Clara County Clerk Recorder website to order an official copy of my youngest daughter's birth certificate on 4/5/21. Online ordering directs you to the VitalChek website, which I used to place an order, which I completed and was assigned order #: [protected]. I then submitted a completed, signed, notarized 'Sworn Statement/Verification" document plus a copy of the the front and back of my CA driver's license to the fax number on the form; [protected] on April 5 at a UPS store in Gilroy. I received a written confirmation the fax was successfully transmitted. Then on April 13 I received an email stating that I had failed to provide the required 'Sworn Statement/Verification". So, on April 13 I re-faxed the same documents to them at [protected] from my home fax. I again received confirmation that the fax was successfully transmitted. I received another email from Vital Chek on 4/20 stating that I had failed to provide the required "Sworn Statement/Verification form' . I submitted an email using their generic Help email form and was assigned case #[protected]. I have not received a response to my email. There is no one at Vital Chek answering the phones. They have taken my money and failed to follow-up with me in a timely manner, nor have they provided an alternative method to faxing documents in the event that method fails. I have already placed a mail order directly with Santa Clara County Clerk Recorder office because I'm not getting anywhere with VitalChek and I need this birth certificate.

I requested a birth certificate for my 6 month old daughter, I submitted all the requested info they needed including the notary paper proofing I am her father and it been 3 weeks they keep saying call us for more details. We keep calling on daily basis and they never reply to any phone and even email they don't reply back, order number [protected] and my brother died and even I couldn't go to see him because I can't do passport to my daughter without the birth certificate

I ordered a birth certificate for my late mother, on 28th August but was unable to complete the purchase with credit card online, as apparently daughters have to apply by mail. The order number is [protected].

I sent a cheque with the completed forms on 21st September, together with all my identity documents, as per the instructions on the VitalChek website.

An email arrived on 1st October requesting ID documents again, which I scanned and sent via the VitalCheck web portal. Another email then arrived on 8th October, asking for bank statements as ID, which again I scanned and sent.

VitalChek then emailed to notify me that my order was "on hold" due to lack of ID documents. They requested a PA state drivers' licence as ID. I have explained to them several times that I do not have a State drivers licence, as I live in the UK!
I have send a copy of my UK Driving LIcence, UK passport, UK bank & credit statements and copy of my own birth certificate (showing mom's name) as proof of my ID but still VitalChek refuses to acknowledge these, nor to issue the birth certificate that I need.

I am at a complete loss to know what to do next. I have emailed their customer services and put enquiries via the web-portal on 6 subsequent occasions and the company does not even bother to respond. It's extremely frustrating, as there is apparently no alternative way to obtain the birth certificate that I require to complete my late mother's affairs.

I would like VitalChek to send me a copy of my mother's birth certificate as I have requested, please, without any further delay.

Cancelled order and still charged processing fee. What did they process, exactly? Waste of time and money. They take advantage of customers because they have a veritable monopoly on records. Go directly through the government offices, deal with the red tape, it's genuinely easier than dealing with this. Horrible, shady business! I'm astonished the Alaska Bureau of Records recommends them.

I ordered a birth certificate for Cook Co., Chicago, IL, I twice submitted the required clearly legible identification documents (valid driver's lic. & passport) and continually receive replies after this company confirms receipt that they"haven't received underlying documents that comply with the agency's requirements". Company refuses to reply to my repeated inquiries.

You have to pay them before the process is finished, which they say is nonrefundable. They make the process seem easy but after you have paid them you receive a message stating that the office of vital statistics requires further identification. The "further identification" they want is the reason a birth certificate was requested so that the "further identification" could be obtained. It's a circle jerk with you being the loser. Don't waste your time with these scammers.
