WriterBay – This is an online freelance jobs site for those who are interested in academic writing. Here you get to assist students in their subject assignments. However, you may have seen online that academic writing help is considered unethical because the writers help the students to “cheat”, let’s clarify this first.
Is Academic Writing Unethical?
Some would say it is unethical because the academic writer is basically helping the student to “cheat” in their assignments by writing them custom papers.
For a while, I thought the same too but my experience tells me that it is not about aiding students to “cheat”. Academic writing help is more about helping a student to “write” better.
The education system is such that even when the student knows the subject in-depth but the student cannot explain it properly because the writing style is poor, no examiner would give the student marks for that knowledge, they all want to see that knowledge written in flawless style on the paper.
Here is whether academic writers come in. The academic writers “help” students to write better.

Positive Aspects:
1) It is a legitimate academic writing company. I can say this because I have been associated with more than 10 academic freelance companies in the past and only two were legitimate; one is WriterBay (Dublin-based) and the other is Prospect Solutions (UK-based).

2) WriterBay always pay. Their payment period is from the 16-20 of every month. Your account must have $100 to get payment.

If you are regular with the work, managing $100 is a week’s work.
3) The registration process is tough – you have to show the scanned copy of highest qualification level attained, have thorough knowledge of citation styles like Oxford, Harvard and MLA, and finally, give a written test.
Below you can 3-months back. Download it but don’t use it if you get the same test question.
4) Unlike the monstrous support system of other academic help companies, the support staff here is very soft-spoken, understanding and supportive to the writers – another feature you won’t see in other academic help companies, except for Prospect Solutions.
Further, the support staff is very approachable. You can communicate with them anytime over phone or email.
A while back, a student tried to apply false plagiarism charge on me. I wrote a paper for him in December but the plagiarism he was showing was September dated. I pointed out the same to WriterBay and they promptly supported my stand, which would never have happened with other academic freelance companies like Essay Writers and Freelance Careers.
5) They have a writer affiliate system. Display their banner on your blog, if any, and get 3% commissions every time your affiliates earn from WriterBay.
Negative Aspects:
1) They seem to prefer those writers who are always online on their system. They use the Zopim chat feature to directly contact writers and offer them projects, which means that if you are not online but more suited for that assignment, you lose the assignment.

Suggestions:
1) It will be better if writers are contacted directly only when the assignment is urgent and there is nobody else around; otherwise, academic writers will begin to call this bias.

Am I writing for WriterBay.com?
YES, I am but not as often as I did in the last 2 months because of other work commitments.
Have you worked with WriterBay before? What is your opinion?

I have been working for them for 1 year already. That is actually quite ok comparing to other freelance writing websites. In 3 months after joining them I was promoted and received 15% higher salary. Sometimes it is tiresome to wait for a project request to be approved, but in general I am satisfied. Their Support is helpful and friendly. Btw, registration process is free of charge and they support Paypal.

I've been working for Writerbay since last November. I have been satisfied so far - their support id friendly and there are many available orders to choose from. I mainly write on Engineering and Technology, I figured there are not many writers there proficient in these two disciplines, so my competency comes in handy, there are always some orders within these fields waiting to be completed. And the salary is quite good. Only I do not use Paypal. I chose Payoneer payment option, since they don't charge any fees for that

Yes, they do really pay. Never over almost two years that I have been working for him have they delayed my payment or underpaid. Their support is nice - they work 24/7 and are very friendly. Having worked for such a long time with this company, I know all support agents by name! I have completed over half a thousand orders already, there have been complicated and easy ones, but it just proved to me that if you put some efforts into something, your efforts pay off.
I recommended WriterBay two of my friends, they have registered and started writing recently. I encourage them to stay till hot season starts, they they won't be able to leave. The amount of orders during high season is enormous, and there is something suitable for anyone, regardless the proficiency.
The only suggestion I have for the company is to set longer deadlines for the complicated orders (Accounting, Finance, Engineering), because sometimes they come in the system urgently, and as much as I would love to save them, I simply do not have enough time.

I don't see what people can hold against writerbay services. Unless their applications have been declined on the registration step and they want to tell the world about their failure, blaming high standards of writerbay hiring managers. Well, this website isn't a scam and it strives to provide high-quality work to its clients, so it's natural they want to pay more attention to selection of those who want to work for them.
Having been a part of the freelance writirs team for almost a year, I can say that I am indeed satisfied with their services. They online live chat is great, the guys working there always assist regardless your time zone. And the website has quite many available orders too.

Hey guys!
I guess you'll agree with me that work from home (especially freelancing) is a great saver of time you would have instead spent stuck in traffic jams and nerves that you would have wasted dealing with the clients personally. Honestly, I've been satisfied with the way this website operates. Their client managers are cool, always assist me on my requests 24/7, and, let me admit that being a very peculiar person and a perfectionist I tend to have a lot of questions along the way. Thanks writerbay for bearing with me! And thank you for providing me with an excellent opportunity to stay at home, do what I enjoy doing and get money for it!
Regards, Cooper

Hey guys,
I've been mainly writing on Biology and Nursing subjects, and now the website has quite a number of available orders on these two disciplines, so I've been working really hard lately.
I have received all my previous payments without any delays. So I don't see why anyone would call WB a scam website. I know there are plenty of them on the web, but this website is definitely not a case.

Im confused about the system a little since I worked on a paper for three days for a customer and have had no problems before but this client was being especially picky and changing the needs of the paper. I followed the outline provided and contacted the support team when the client was contradicting the instructions for clarification and they reassigned the paper after 3 days 25 sources and 11 pages of work. I got paid nothing, has this ever happened to anyone else I am a new writer here and cant even reach the support team via phone because it puts me on hold and hangs up idk what to do.

Cherier,
You should contact their higher management via e-mail or, better off, Help Desk. Sometimes their Support team does not have the authority to decide on partial payment, and it is the prerogative of higher management only. They are fair, probably you were not quite acquainted with the rules and procedures being a new writer.

And Elly Lenny, this is just ridiculous! Don't buy accounts, it is prohibited by the rules of any esteemed academic writing organization and your account will be deleted shortly, you'll just waste your money for nothing. If you are not qualified enough to pass the registration procedure and obtain your own personal acc at WB or Uvo, maybe you should think twice about your writing skills and do your best to improve them for the next trial.

WriterBay wished me Happy Birthday^-^
I casually mentioned it in a conversation about 10 days prior, and they remembered and called me to say congrats. Loving the personal approach, I know I make money through this company, but the support they offer is quite comforting.

I'm also quite touched by how friendly the staff is. I've spoken to them about personal issues, how I like certain orders, books, etc...

Sadly, Writerbay is not the site it once was.
In the past year, perhaps the past 18 months, they seem to have had to deal with an increasing number of writers behaving in an unprofessional manner.
The result of that is their PRO-status has now been rendered next-to meaningless and all their writers - whether professional or unprofessional in their behaviour - have had to deal with ever-increasing restrictions that mitigate against work flow.
To expand...
PRO status is achieved after a period of time working successfully as a writer on Writerbay. When the status is attained, payments rise not dramatically, but significantly. Having PRO status also permitted writers the luxury of being able to line up an unlimited number of cases, so they could get up in the morning, apply for a day's work, write it, deliver it, and end the day 'job done'.
Unfortunately, a lack of professionalism in many of WB's PRO writers has been such that this automatic allocation of assignments has been dramatically curtailed. Prior to today, this meant having just one case on automatic allocation, completing it, then having to return to the list again to plough through it all in search of another case. As of today, even that small allowance has ceased. Now all applications must be assessed. This makes it impossible to build up any sort of flow whatsoever, and has rendered professionalism useless. Apply for ten cases knowing you're going to lose most of them, and you can get lucky with three or four, unlucky with none, or unlucky with seven you don't have time to complete. Moreover, if you're ready to write at 8.30am, there's no point being assigned a case at 3.00pm or, worse, 3.00am with a phone call to tell you it is now urgent. As a result of this, the site has rendered itself - from my point of view - as near unworkable as makes no difference. (I am a PRO-writer with an unwavering level 5 status, the highest going, so if this is happening to me, it's happening to everyone).
I am currently seeking other sites that do as Writerbay used to do, permitting trusted writers the right to take on a workload of a morning and deal with the workload through the day. Sadly, any site offering that I may join and I will be starting again, working hard to build up trust in my professionalism as I worked with Writerbay building up that trust. It is most unfortunate that trust in my professionalism is no longer rewarded with the opportunity to act professionally, which is all I am asking for. I suspect this will be the last straw for many of WB's best writers, and it will haemorrhage them as a result.
So... sorry, Writerbay. It was great while it lasted, and could so easily be great again. But not like this.

It seems like the nature of freelancing just is the way it is, though. I also work for another site which sets similar deadlines. I am not certain that if you can work from home, there is reason to complain (unless maybe family obligations). WB does curtail social life a little (with phone calls, revisions, etc...) but I'll be honest--I'll take this over the din of a 7:00 am alarm clock.

I have been working with this company for already half a year and during this time discovered all their advantages and disadvantages. First about what is making me sad. The registration process is the milestone that cannot be easily overcome. Indeed, I have spent quite a lot of time for the application form as it consists of multiple steps, but all my endeavors were justified. When I received invitation letter I was so happy. So, if you decided to enroll be ready for the challenging application, but all your efforts will be rewarded later. The second thing that sometimes is driving me crazy is the payment that is made only once a month. I’d like to receive money two or even three times a month. I guess they should do something with it.

Now let’s have a look at advantages. First of all, the membership is free of charge. It’s really good, cuz I was working with the company that required a membership fees and I recall this time only as a nightmare. Luckily, here we do not have this thing. Secondly, they have very friendly support team that is available 24/7. They are always ready to help even if you have stupid questions. The last thing is that they have just fabulous bonuses system. I hope that they will keep moving in the same direction.

I am pretty much like the expression “What goes around, comes around” and it is definitely about my cooperation with Writerbay. I am working with this company only for two months, but I feel that it is a great place for freelancing. Here I want to point out the main pluses and minuses.
Pluses:
• In comparison with the other companies the salary is pretty high, moreover there are also a lot of bonuses.
• Support team, it is really something brilliant. Once I had very unpleasant issue with the client. Luckily, those guys helped me a lot.
• Membership is free of charge.
• Personal mentor. For me it is very big plus, because I can ask this person anything and I am sure that I will receive a reply.
Minuses:
• Less work during the summer. Still if you managed to show yourself as a good writer and set tight relations with the client you will not sit without work (for now I have 2 clients who are asking exclusively for me).
• Registration. Well it took me almost 1 month to get the approval. First, I have quite a long conversation with the recruiter, but luckily, she was very nice and explained me everything about the registration process. After that I have completed everything and my application was reviewed within 14 days. Indeed, it is veeery long process.

Hmm… Writerbay is quite interesting place for work. I am relatively new there, but for now I have my own conclusions.
Conclusion 1. If you work hard, you will be paid accordingly. I spent quite a lot of time writing these different papers, but my endeavors always rewarded accordingly. Only once I had an unpleasant issue and was fined, but I have learned a lesson.
Conclusion 2. Be precise and you will receive the right answer. Once I asked their support staff for help and have not found the necessary response, but then I realized that this was because my question was ambiguous and of course the staff failed to clarify everything.
Conclusion 3. Do what you like and love to do. For now it’s just a perfect place for me.

I have been with Writerbay for a few years now. I second the opinion expressed by 'Anotherbody'. It is NOT the site anymore that it used to be. I am a PRO writer with a level 5 status and the majority of my clients are happy with my work. Many clients choose me as a preferred writer and I have always made sure to provide quality and on-time delivery, but Writerbay does not value my professionalism any more. Earlier, all the projects were open to writers for application and writers had the flexibility to apply for projects that suited their expertise and convenience of time, but these days only those projects that the management thinks that a writer should work on are available to his or her queue. Though they say that projects are allotted on the basis of expertise, it is not so. Several disciplines that I earlier worked on are not available to my queue any longer and I guess the reason could be this that for making me write on a project, they need to pay me a PRO writer's price and if the same project could be written by a writer with a non-Pro status, then the salary they need to pay will be minimal. Besides, earlier, I had the opportunity to apply for projects according to my convenience of time so that I could complete the work by the evening, but these days since the management distributes projects to my queue based on their whims, that flexibility is no longer there. Either the projects available to my queue are low in salary or have higher salary but uncomfortable deadlines. Most of the time these days, I am forced to start working in the evening as a result of which my personal life is suffering.

There are a lot other issues that have made this website really unworkable. For instance, despite having worked professionally all these years, when I see that the number of projects has been reduced to mere 37, which a day earlier was 80, because I refused to work on a low-paying order or an urgent order with uncomfortable deadline, it is saddening and very demotivating. I am also on the lookout for other websites that provide the same jobs as Writerbay and I am planning to quit this organization soon as things that earlier never happened have started happening here. I feel demotivated and cheated. I regret for working hard for this organization. Perhaps I should have been smart enough to keep other freelancing options open so that I didn't become dependent on this website alone for my source of earning.

I have been researching this company on Google. I found many like this page - and I must mention that this one looks like it has been started by esmeenetwork.com - now go figure. What I also expected to find was a place where the customers get in touch with WB - I found none so far. So it seems like WB is the frontend to the writers and not the backend for customers. Yay ! This info is valuable. Go figure !
