Ongoing price increases
My 2022 bill more than doubled from around 120 per month to around 300 on a single room condo, I can't keep paying bills like this and especially with the new proposed increase for 2023. Assistance programs are for struggling low income housing that make less than 35k annually. There's no Assistance for the middle class with all the other unnecessary rising cost in the world. To gas production needs to be brought to the US flr self sufficiency to keep this from happening year after year
Desired outcome: Reduce rates to what they were prior to 2020
Recent Heating Invoice
We received our recent heating invoice. The energy bill has climbed more than doubled in just one year. The inflation has not gone up 100%. Looks like Xcel is passing on more than the cost due to inflation, while keeping the profits fat.
Need to do something about this, it has pinched our budgets with nothing more to spare. Do we eat or heat our homes.
Power lines on our property
At 3 am during a big wind event last spring, (April 5th, 2022) we had a power line snap on our property in the middle between two telephone poles and start a serious ground fire. It was a big wind event of which we have often up here with gusts up to 85 MPH. Somehow, the fire was spotted and reported by a driver many miles away. And luckily the fires department was patrolling because of the wind. Also luckily, the fire was near our driveway so that the firemen had quick access to the flames. My son and I were evacuated from the house.
More recently, during another big wind event, our power went out. We thought that it was neighborhood-wide. It was a nerve wracking night for us with little sleep. The next morning I reported our continued outage and XCEL was quick to respond. They found that a fuse had blown from some event along our power line. This kind of problem was presumably because of the power line touching a branch or perhaps the telephone line beneath it? Something made that fuse pop and I want to know exactly what it was. I want another inspection of our power lines. We are the only house on this power line.
I am aware that XCEL 'inspects' the power lines every now and then and that it contracts with Wright Tree Service to keep branches 5' away from the lines every 5 years. But in a big wind event, after the trees have grown since the last trim, it is possible that a branch touched the power line in the high wind.
The fact that the power line which caused the ground fire in April snapped in the middle of the line between two poles is of great concern to me. There must have been a weakness in the line or too much slack. In any case, I would like to correspond with a Line Manager to address my concerns.
My XCEL account is [protected].
Desired outcome: 1. Respond to this within 5 days.2. Trim our tree branches 10 feet from power lines.3. Do thorough inspection of all our power lines from the main pole where the fuse is to our house.
Rate Increase
According to the XCEL rep I spoke with, the costs of power went up 54% and the spot price of natural gas was up month-over-month significantly. The Result:
My total Bill for November was $342 as compared to my current Bill for November of $752 on a bit higher usage in 2022! Now, someone needs to explain how this can happen. XCEL received rate hike approval, but there's more to the story. It's sickening and I can only imagine that there are folks making the decision "do I heat, or do I eat?" We all need make our voices heard! It's robbery and must be changed. It's appears that the Green Energy is nothing more than a ruse!
Desired outcome: Address the issue and lower the cost
Xcel energy
Last night, December 1st to December 2nd morning, there was 2 huge trucks of xcel Energy in 13 st between Corona st and Downing st, Capitol Hill, Denver, Co. they must started around 2 am in the morning and left around 5 am, making strong noises with their trucks, I understand they were working on something there, but the hour? It was imposible to sleep.
Next time do it during daytime hours even if they have to suspend traffic.
Possible illegal usage of energy
I live at 128 e 19th st. The stevens community in the village. And I want to complain that since I moved into this apartment. I have been noticing that I cant use but one outlet in my whole apartment. Without the electricity blowing a fuse. I had contacted the maintenance. Who didnt do much but give me an extension cord. And told me that it was because of an a/c that I was using. Now that it is november. Im still surging with each use of only using one outlet per usage. I no longer have my a/c, and since I have been living here since may 2022. I noticed my bill has been skyrocketing in kilowatts. So I had been testing my usage. And there is no way that I have been using so much energy. I also have neighbors complaining about the same issue inside of their own apartments. Plus their energy bill is also extremely high. We have reasons to believe that there is a possible illegal growing operations going on within the community. Can you please check this out.
Desired outcome: reporting to the local police. in hopes of a greater outcome.
Customer Service
I called XCEL Energy today to discuss a bill. The first XCEL rep put me on hold, then, after waiting ten minutes, my call was disconnected. I called again and talked to someone who identified herself as Carla, but she would not identify herself further, such as with an employee number or first initial of her last name. I asked to talk to a manager. I was told it might take a day or two before someone got back to me. There is no way I know of to reach XCEL via email. XCEL is a very unprofessional company! As they have a monopoly on providing energy in the Denver, Colorado area there is not alternative company to contact for utility service. This is what happens when there is no business competition!
Desired outcome: Allow a competing company to provide energy needs to consumers.
Setting up service on new construction.
On 05-11-2022 I contacted Xcel to discuss new construction in small town Wisconsin.
I was assigned a design engineer Kathy Schantner-Dodge on 05-13-2022. Perfect.
I asked about trees that needed trimming and the triplex service pole 60 feet from my building and a local lineman said “no problem”. Xcel gives you 300’ free so everyone was happy. Except Kathy.
I went from zero dollars to hook up and then PAY XCEL FOR SERVICE, to $7042.59 and STILL… PAY XCEL monthly. I still don’t have service and it’s mid October. Oh, better yet, once the ol gal straightened out my address she entered incorrectly and after the third request, and 69 emails, (literally) she threatened me with winter service charges because she couldn’t schedule the nearly 500 feet of underground drilling until maybe mid November.
She told me the existing triplex poles weren’t suitable to supply power but she was not going to have them removed or trim the trees back. I asked for tree trimming and she said that wasn’t my concern. This lady obviously has an axe to grind and I’m the wheel.
I don’t want to call corporate because everyone has a bad day, but this piece of work has had a bad six months and she’s not done with me yet!
Long story short, She corrected the address, I paid Xcel that day and she is still making excuses about when I’ll have service. I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.
Worst part is, I’m a non profit doing work with Veterans and I had hoped to be up and running there by Christmas.
So beware Phillips Wisconsin. She’s a mean one…..
Desired outcome: Power. That’s it.
Home Energy Billing Amount
Our AMP increased from $131.00 to $254.00 this month. This is an unreasonable and outrageous increase. Not that I expect you to actually take any action but I wish to have my voice heard. This is greed pure and simple on the part of your company as you know that regular customers have no other recourse but to pay their bill and accept whatever you want to charge. I wish to be on record to state that I vehemently object to this increase.

Illegally transfered my electric bill b4 working with me JaniceWarner warner
I recieved a call from a collection agency to collect money for a electric bill. I need xcel to call me as i was working with an agency to help pay my outstanding covid bills. I was never contacted from Xcel energy tell them they need to send the bill back to excel and it is illegal to send this bill to collection.
Per the state of MN. District attorney general.
It is very apparent that you had my CELL phone number as this collection company did?
NOONE REACHED OUT TO ME [protected]
Desired outcome: To take back the bill and work with me directly.I am homeless @ age of 64 and on SSD Income.I need help or discount as I have very little $ with Noone to help me.
Covid fees
I received a bill that was almost $700. My last bill was almost $600. While looking at the bill we discovered that there were fees that was almost equal to the bill. Upon speaking with a customer service representative, it was confirmed that these “fees” were due to Covid. How is this legal? I am a disabled veteran. I have to choose between eating and electricity. Shame on Excel for taking advantage of Covid to charge exorbitant fees. The Covid crisis is no longer a crisis so why is Excel still charging these ridiculous fees? I want to see a decrease in my bills.
Return balance after moving
I had over $1000 in credit because I had overpaid every month to ensure our power was never cut. I became eligible for energy assistance and after I moved the company has not paid my initial balance. It has been more than 90 days since I moved and nearly 120 days since I gave notice.

Desired outcome: I would like the return of my initial balance prior to accepting energy assistance. Robbie Sheets([protected] Discontinued service on June 30th of 2022
My online usage and demand summary.
For the last month and a half, your website has been useless in determining my daily consumption, due to all the data being bogus. How is a customer expected to track their usage of off-peak, mid-peak, and on-peak energy consumption if the consumption data is so obviously not accurate?
What is the point of smart meters if the data they provide to XCEL is not accurately shared with your customers.
Also, shame on you for not making it simpler to use your website to contact you.

Overcharging electricity
This is the second time I filed a complaint about the same problem. Not only did xcel not correct its behavior, it continued it. My property was vacant for about 2 months (7/1 - 8/25) the only thing that were on were the fridge and the water heater. Everything was off. Xcel charged me about $250 for the period. And they did it based on estimate even though I called a several times to inform that that the unit had been vacant. They insisted me getting the reading myself even though the unit had been sold. Is this what being bullied by a big company feels like? I want xcel to correct the problem. Otherwise i'll keep escalating this.
Desired outcome: I need Xcel to fix the problem by adjusting the bills.
Unauthorized entry to fenced yard
Today (Sunday) a technician entered our fenced yard and proceeded to walk through the yard to check to see if we had electricity (we had a power outage two nights ago, in the middle of the night, for a brief amount of time). We never contacted Xcel because we were sleeping when it occurred and the power was on when we woke up (our clocks were blinking to indicate the outage)
Anyways, This individual never came to our door to let us know what they were doing, nor did they ask permission to access the fenced area.
We have a dog that is a runner that could have very easily been outside at the time as we do have a doggie door so he comes and goes as he pleases. We also have a D-ring on our fence gates to ensure that the gates don't get opened on accident or by kids.
I am upset in the fact that there was NO contact with us prior to the entry, there was NO respect to shut a gate door that was previously shut, and there was NO reason for them to be checking if we had electricity by walking through our yard when they could have come to the door and ask.
Desired outcome: An apology phone call or letter to acknowledge that their technician was spoken to and that it will not ever happen again.
electricity/gas billing
I just sold my property at 9049 W Phillips Drive, littleton, CO 80128. My tenant moved out at the end of June this year. So the unit had been vacant from 7/1 to 8/25 when it was sold and closed on. The a/c had been turned off. The electric/gas bill for 7/12-8/20 was $169.23 which higher than my own house with 3 people living in it. When I called to inform them of the situation, i was told they did an estimate on usage based on last year. They asked me to go read the meter myself. Otherwise they'd stick with the estimate. First of all, why didn't they read the actual meter? I can understand if they try to cut costs. But once they realize the estimate is wrong, shouldn't they do everything they can to fix it instead of dumping it on the customer? I don't live close to the rental property. When I pressed for the reason for estimation, i was told the meter wasn't reachable. The meter hasn't moved. It's been at the same location forever. It's not winter. there's no snow to cover the meter. I sold other two properties during the same period. They did estimation for those as well. And I think they overcharged me on those as well. When I called about those properties, they gave me the same lame excuse and asked me to read the meters myself. If there were another utility company, i'd switch to that in a heart beat. Xcel is rubbing people blind.
Desired outcome: I need billing adjustment. I need to seem procedure changed
Stolen item from one of your employees
August 20th between 8pm-11:30.We had a power outage. We had to open the gate for him to get to the back. Him your employee only one that was back there. The transformer is in the backyard of our house. He stole a memorial piece for my good friend. The memorial piece was in front of the transformer and had to be removed to access it. I want it returned Immediately. Its disrespectful and someone that makes that much money and has Odessite to steal from someone's backyard. On the picture you can see the silhouette of the saw blade on the front of the transformer
Desired outcome: I want to get my memorial piece returned, Its a saw blade with a water faucet. I also want a apology
Credit/Debit Card payment website
Y’all’s website y’all go through for credit and debit cards doesn’t show y’all a payment on y’all’s end for 2-3 days , and so when I went to look at my account I still had a remaining balance, I had to go through the website twice and got charged twice onto my card? and y’all can’t refund me through my card y’all charged me on? and y’all can’t do a direct deposit refund? i have to wait a WHOLE MONTH to be able to have my refund? this is ridiculous
Desired outcome: get my refund through direct deposit or refund my card y’all charged twice
Tree pruning / branches and debris left
I went to my alley to find a large number of branches "hacked" out of a tree we have that apparently encroaches XCEL lines. While I realize XCEL has the right to do this pruning, I feel that homeowners should be notified of the work in advance, and that XCEL contractors should remove the branches. They should also at least make an effort to exercise proper pruning techniques, where possible. The significant number of branches were left in a huge pile in the alley, with a large mess and some obstruction to cars. I already cleaned up most the mess and stacked the branches more out of the way. As of today — about two weeks later, they are still not picked up. I have called in on this twice. When I called, a representative told me both times that they will take care of it. They also confirmed that they do not attempt to contact homeowners in advance. I did not even ask if their crews (probably contract) have any arborist skills or training (I already know the answer).
Desired outcome: I'd like branches removed asap. And I feel XCEL should reconsider their policies re: tree pruning and customer communication in these matters.
No bill sent out
When sending out a letter stating you are not allowing my daily on the program because of two late payments. That isn’t okay. They have not sent out one ebill or 1 physical hard bill. I am out raged. Then after that Rihanna refused to reinstate it and told me I need to call in each month for my bill. My understanding is that they know feel that the customer doesn’t need service. I have informed them multiple times I don’t receive a bill.
Desired outcome: My stuff reinstated and a reimbursement for all the problems I keep having
