I opened two yahoo. mail accounts nearly 20 years ago. I was living overseas at the time, for the past 25 years. I have now returned to the U.S. and cannot log in to either account. One account sends a verification to another account, and when I try to sign in to that account, it sends a verification to the other account. It is an inexorable loop. I called (paid) customer support, uploaded my ID and still was not able to regain access to my account. My ID has my real name on it, but I have no idea what name I used when I first opened my Yahoo mail accounts. I could have used my step-father's surname, I could have used Mickey Mouse. Who knows? This was well before smartphones, and I am sure many, many people used different or made up names. I never wanted this much security on my e-mail accounts, and never had a chance to opt out. Losing access to these two accounts is devastating, both personally and financially. I have been advised by my attorney to do every thing I can through you first, before pursuing a lawsuit. There was never any notice that this could happen. You charge money to help customers extricate themselves from a problem, a trap, of your own creation, without any option to opt out of this level of "security" that is completely unwanted by me and I'm sure many others like me. It feels like a form of extortion and business malpractice. I am so angry at having to go through this for something as simple as an e-mail account. Please provide another method for me to recover my 2 accounts. I can tell you countless examples of what messages may be in those accounts. I am not going to give up on this, loaded with righteous indignation.
Desired outcome: Give me and others other ways to recover their accounts. Stop trapping people into using your paid service.
