It was also impossible to turn them on in an anti-clockwise direction. It was like trying to put a left-handed nut on a right-handed bolt, which just doesn't work.
The exhaust hose and its connectors worked just fine as designed, so I think I just received the wrong intake hose. I managed to complete the installation using duct tape to attach the intake hose to its connectors, but it looked pretty shabby. I sent an email to customer service to let them know about the problem and asked them to send me the correct hose. Unfortunately, I haven't received a reply yet.
Despite this issue, I really like the product and I'm planning to order another one if they have any more available. I hope they can correct this problem soon so that I can enjoy the full benefits of the product. I gotta say, I had a bit of a rough experience with 3Gorillas.com. First off, the UPS driver didn't even bother to ring the doorbell or knock when delivering my package. If it weren't for the fact that the package weighed a whopping 100 pounds, it could have easily been swiped by some opportunistic thief. Luckily, I have a habit of checking the door every hour or so.
When I finally got my hands on the package, I noticed that the window mount was cracked on one of the railing sides. And to top it off, there was no half insert included in case I wanted to use both vent holes. I ended up just doing the exhaust to the outside and leaving the intake to take in the room air. But because both vents were going outside, I couldn't even lock the window kit in my window without trimming that internal track piece by about a third. And to make matters worse, I had to mount it on a vertical window.
But hey, at least the unit itself seemed to run pretty well. I was surprised to find that it clicked on every 3-5 minutes when the room went up just one degree from the unit setting. I mean, I'd be much happier if it let the room warm up by three degrees before kicking back on and cooling the room down again. But I guess beggars can't be choosers.
The reason I even needed this unit in the first place is because my southwest-facing room gets unbearably hot during the day. I work swing shift, so I sleep during the day and don't want to run my whole house A/C just to cool down my master bedroom. All in all, I'm not thrilled with my experience with 3Gorillas.com, but at least the unit is doing its job.
