5 Star Auto Plaza - This business needs to be shut down!
If I could give this poor excuse for a company NEGATIVE STARS, I WOULD! This is, by far, the WORST 'car dealership' in the St. Louis area! This company preys on people who have NO OTHER CHOICE than to go to them to buy a car. And to say they can finance anyone? For just a nickel down-payment? That is a straight up lie. They CANNOT finance ANYONE, unless you...

I ain't never gonna deal with this place! I put money down and they went ahead and ran our credit. They even had the nerve to ask for 3 months' worth of my bank statement and my co-buyer's check stubs! After we took the car home, they called us the next day, talking about we gotta bring it back 'cause of some child support interest. Can you believe it? They admitted it was their fault, but still wanted us to bring the car back! It seems like they checked everything and gave us the keys, only to call us two days later saying they messed up. Seriously, think twice before buying from them. They told us everything was fine after we sat there for almost 2 hours, but their customer service is a total mess.
I bought a car from them and the finance company dropped my loan 4 months later
I bought a car from them and the finance company dropped my loan 4 months later. I've been going back and forth with them for the last month to try to get another finance company for my vehicle. They keep telling me they're working on it but haven't had an update in over 2 weeks now. They haven't even run my credit to see if another company can take over my loan. They said if I turn my car back in or they can't find a lender, I'll lose the money I've paid on the car. Between the down payment and the payments I made (which the finance company sent back to 5 star), it's almost $5000!
I was lookin to buy a used car and while searchin the internet I found a car I was interested in and wanted to see
I was lookin to buy a used car and while searchin the internet I found a car I was interested in and wanted to see. I called to make sure it was available, talked to a guy and confirmed it was and set an appointment for 4:30pm the next day. The next mornin I got a call to confirm the appointment, which I did. Then they asked me to bring my license (normal stuff-all dealerships) and then they asked me to bring my last two paycheck stubs? (which ain't normal) I asked why I gotta bring financial info to look at a car on their lot? He said it's normal, but it ain't! I been buyin cars since I was in my early 20's and never been asked for financial info. But this is racial profilin at its best. He argued with me and I hung up, then I started gettin a bunch of calls from them that I didn't answer. I didn't do nothin about it until today 'cause they had the nerve to call me back and try to follow up if I bought a car. I told him how mad I was and this ain't normal in the industry and I'm gonna take this further now, since they decided to follow up with me, I'm gonna follow up on my unsatisfactory and discriminatory treatment.
I would not recommend this place
I would not recommend this place. Before I bought a car, they gave me three options. The best and most reliable option had just been repossessed. It still had the previous owner's personal belongings inside, which means the car was never serviced or checked for issues. I received the car in September, and now in November, the check engine light won't turn off and it's leaking oil. I have a car loan that I pay early every two weeks, and I can't afford to pay for repairs because they only gave a 3,000-mile warranty, which is ridiculous. I would advise anyone I know personally to never go to this place. The cars may look good, but they drive horribly. They are only interested in taking your hard-earned money during a pandemic. This shows what kind of people they are. I just had a baby this year and was looking for a reliable four-door car, but they just put me in anything. It's not fair. My car recently broke down on the side of the highway, and I had to pay to get it towed to them. They are not interested in reimbursing me or swapping out the car because my OnStar ran a diagnostic test and said the engine and transmission are affected, and I should avoid hills and going over 50 mph. The car was in no shape to be resold after the repossession, and they knew it. This is sad that they would take advantage of a single mother, especially during these times. It even smells bad, and me and my two kids are inhaling exhaust fumes due to their poor consideration. I would never recommend this place! December 21st!
I bought a car from 5 Star Auto Plaza on October 8
I bought a car from 5 Star Auto Plaza on October 8. The process went smoothly and everything seemed fine. However, about a week and a half later, the check engine light came on. I took the car in and waited while they diagnosed it. The mechanic gave me the keys back and said nothing was wrong, just some codes stored in the car. He cleared the codes and I drove home. But then, a week later, the check engine light came on again. This time, the car completely shut off on the highway at 1AM. The next day, before 5 Star could tow it, the car was vandalized. After having the car for a week, they called me to say that the engine was ruined and needed to be replaced. I agreed to it. They kept the car for an additional two weeks to repair the engine and the smashed window, claiming that the vandalism wouldn't have happened if the engine hadn't failed. I picked up my truck, but just four days later, the check engine light came on again and the car sounded like a big truck, not accelerating properly. I was furious at this point. The mechanic then told me that they didn't actually put in a new engine like they said, but a used one. He said they needed me to drive the car to make sure no other lights came on. Can you believe it? They gave a mother with children a car to drive around and hoped it wouldn't break down again, instead of testing it themselves before calling me to pick it up. I asked to speak to a manager because I no longer wanted the vehicle. I requested a refund or a different car, and I even offered to put more money down for a better one. They gave me the runaround, begging me to give the mechanics one more chance to fix it. I explained to the manager, Victoria, that they had my car in their shop longer than I had it. I haven't been able to drive it consistently since I got it. It's a terrible car that they knew they should never have sold me. Instead of doing the right thing, they lied to me. I left the car with them and took an Uber home. Today, two weeks later, they texted me saying my car is ready for pickup and to bring back the loaner vehicle. Can you believe it? I called and the service manager told me the car just needed to be reset and it's now ready. So not only did they not listen when I said I didn't want the car, they let the mechanic "fix" it on my behalf. When I spoke to Chris, he even told me that the service department doesn't even repair engines! Can you believe it? They never fixed the car in the first place. It's all lies upon lies! Please don't waste your time with this place. They'll put you in a terrible car and try to make you keep it by "fixing" it until your warranty runs out and it's no longer their problem. I gave them multiple chances to fix this issue, but they refused. This place is a complete scam and they should be ashamed.

I bought a 2017 Ford Fusion
I bought a 2017 Ford Fusion. It had brake problems right from the start. I took it back to the dealership and they claimed they fixed it by turning the rotors. But guess what? They DID NOT turn the rotors. I had to take it back again because the brake pedal vibration is really scary and unpredictable. I just want a car that is safe and reliable, especially considering I paid $24,000 for it.
I bought a car from 5 Star Auto Plaza on May 16th
I bought a car from 5 Star Auto Plaza on May 16th. It's still under warranty, but I've been having trouble right from the start. They were supposed to get me a purge valve, but they said they were waiting on the dealer. I called the dealer, and they told me they've been waiting for 2 weeks for 5 Star Auto Plaza to pick it up. I've been calling them to find out when I can bring it in for them to look at and fix it, but they've been giving me the runaround.
I bought this car on April 5
I bought this car on April 5. The car didn't even last a year, the transmission broke down in February . The catalytic converter and the left ball joint also went bad. The owner, who is now the service manager, won't talk to me about this problem. *** told me it's my fault for buying a high-mileage vehicle from them. The salesman promised me that the car wouldn't have any major issues, but the company won't even help me with the repairs. It's a 2012 Jeep Compass.

I went to 5-Start Auto Plaza during my chap 13 bankruptcy because my lawyer suggested it
I went to 5-Start Auto Plaza during my chap 13 bankruptcy because my lawyer suggested it. They were supposed to give my leased vehicle to GM, but instead they said it was abandoned, put a lien on it, and never gave it to GM. They actually SOLD it! GM sent them the car title, and now GM wants me to pay $15000 to cover the remaining balance. They also put $5700 on my credit report. If anyone owes GM, it's 5 Star Auto Plaza. How did this dealership get the title for the car without any issues, and now I have to pay for it?
Me and my girlfriend recently bought a car from 5 Star Auto Plaza
Me and my girlfriend recently bought a car from 5 Star Auto Plaza. We put down $1000 as a down payment. The sales associate who helped us was named Kim, but we don't know her last name. After two weeks of having the car, we received a call from a guy named Chris. He told us there was a problem with our income. Kim had assured us that she had checked our income herself and everything was fine. We had mentioned to her that we had just started new jobs, but she said it was okay. Chris told us that Kim no longer worked there and he needed to resolve the issue to keep us in the car. We suggested returning the car and getting our down payment back, but he said that wasn't an option and they would come to take the car back. It turns out they knowingly sold us a faulty car and lied to us about its condition.
I bought a 2019 Chevy Impala from 5 Star Auto Plaza on 7/20
I bought a 2019 Chevy Impala from 5 Star Auto Plaza on 7/20. They told me it had a V-6 engine, and all the paperwork I signed confirmed that. However, on 8/09, I found out it was actually a 4-cylinder. They charged me for a V-6 model though. I called them on 8/10, and they said they would fix it. But the whole following week, they just kept giving me excuses and didn't solve anything. On 8/14, I went to see a different 2019 Impala, the premium edition with the V-6. I was really disappointed because the car needed work and was in bad condition. However, I did find a 2017 Nissan Maxima and said I would exchange for that. They told me it would cost $4000 more, even though it was 2 years older and had double the miles. I told them to fix the situation and get me the Maxima. But it's been Friday, Saturday, and Monday, and I still haven't gotten any results. I still have the original vehicle with me.
I broght my 2013 Hyundai Sonata in on April 7
I broght my 2013 Hyundai Sonata in on April 7. I bought the car in early February and drove it to and from work no problem. The oil light never came on and I never heard the motor knock. Apparently it had no oil in it, and the motor seized. I was told that they were getting ahold of the warranty department to see if it can be fixed. After I bought the car I waited two hours for them to service it to make sure the vehicle had all its fluids and air in the tires. However, they’re still waiting on the warranty department and I am worried they are waiting for the warranty to expire to give me an answer. I was supposed to start a new job and was not able to due to this problem. I took another lower paying job closer to home to afford the Uber ride. I am incredibly stressed out and frustrated. I have only had the car for two months. I feel like they are ignoring me. I have called every day to get answers and no one can answer any of my questions. It really should not take the warranty department this long to get me an answer whether they can or cannot fix it. I just don’t understand why it’s taken so long and why no one can answer any of my questions. They are ignoring me.
I bought a car from 5-Star Auto Plaza on 2/28/22
I bought a car from 5-Star Auto Plaza on 2/28/22. They told me they just put new brakes on it before I bought it. I left with the car and right away I heard a squealing and grinding noise. I called them the next day because they were closed when I got home with the car and I told them what I heard. They ignored me, saying it was just the new brakes getting worn in. But the noise never stopped. I told them at least 3 more times that the sound was still there and getting worse, which they now say I never did, but I have my call log to prove it. They told me to give it time. The other day, the squeaking stopped, but the grinding sound got much worse. I tried to call them, but they were closed. I called the shop and told them what was happening again. This time they said to bring it in for them to check, but they wouldn't be able to do it until after the holiday, in 4 days. I thought about taking it to another shop to get the work done, but I decided to wait for the car lot. When I got home and checked my brakes, I found that the back wheel had no brake pads on the backside of the rotor! You could see straight through my caliper to my rotor and see that there were big and deep scratches in my rotor. Also, my brake caliper piston was fully extended and stuck against my rotor, which explains why the grinding sounds got worse suddenly and the squealing disappeared. When I called the car lot to tell them what I found, they immediately made excuses. They finally agreed to fix it, but they refused to pay for a tow even though they knew the car was not safe to drive. They told me to drive the car to them with no brakes and they wouldn't give me a loaner after their mistake. Now, I've been on the phone all day with rude reps and they keep telling me it's not their fault! My wife and I are missing work because of these scammers and it seems like it's normal for them.
I got a car from 5 Star Auto Plaza on July 25th
I got a car from 5 Star Auto Plaza on July 25th. I gave them $1000 for the down payment and signed the lease. I drove off with the car, but after a month, they took it back because of my employment verification. When I left the lot, I didn't have a job. I told them I would start my new job on Monday, the 27th. Unfortunately, someone at work got COVID during the first week, and I found out about it on Thursday, so I didn't go to work that day. I also started looking for a new job because my pay for the first week was less than 40 hours. By the time they sent the employment verification, which was two weeks later, I had already had the car, and they told me I was no longer employed there because of the two-week quarantine. I couldn't send the employment verification until I received my first paycheck from the new job. During the week I started the new job, 5 Star Auto Plaza towed the car from my house and said they wouldn't give it back until I provided new employment information. They also said they couldn't give me my down payment back because I signed something that allowed them to charge me $45 a day plus $199. After a month of having the car, that added up to almost $1000, but they never gave me that form with the rest of my paperwork. I gave them the job information, and they closed the account because the new job was through a temp agency for a temp-to-hire position, and I was making $4 more than before. They asked me to bring the keys in for an electrical part they needed to install, but I never even brought the car in for inspection. That means they sold me the car knowing it had electrical issues. Otherwise, how would they know what part to order? I have already been approved elsewhere, which is why I didn't care about the loan being closed out. I just wanted to make sure my name wasn't associated with that car anymore, and I definitely won't do business with them again. So, all I wanted was my money back from these thieves. I noticed the manager likes to respond to complaints and try to justify their actions or give excuses, but I'm not interested in debating or listening to explanations.
