My mom and I were shopping in the store and an employee came up to my mom as she was looking for something and said "Honey be careful those are juniors." It made my mom feel horrible about herself, she felt fat and just depressed. I think my mom knows what she is shopping for and where it is so for the employee to come to her and say that I thought was inappropriate.

I recieved a gift for xmas that I returned. The gift was purchased with a credit card and I was only able to recieve a in store credit. I'm a runner so figured this was not a big thing. "WRONG" The inventor in this store was horrible. When I did find a pair of shoes or an article of clothing there were none in my size. I'm average size so this shouldnt be this big a deal. Most stores during xmas usually have a more flexable exchange policy during this time of year but not Academy Sports. At a loss as to how to spend this money in this store I opted plan B. Bought a set of weights that brought me just under my credit voucher by just 3 dollars. Do you think they handed me cash back for the difference NOT A CHANCE. I would advise no to purchase gifts from these stores if you plan on using credit cards. Dicks Sporting Goods have a much better exchange policy and inventory.

Academy Sports Mesquite Texas has a warped sense of customer service and I never can find an employee to help me. If you find someone they cannot speak properly or know the business. They are uneducated rude teenagers. They sold me a piece of fitness equipment without the proper pieces. I had to come 45 minutes away amd got no apology or discount for my trouble. When I talked to this guy who was a manager he was very uncaring. I do not know what is wrong with this store. I always have to wait in long lines and be waited on a new cashier who is so slow and nothing had price tags complaining how she hates her job.

I must stop going in Academy Sports and Outdoors in Mesquite Texas. I am so sick of never finding anyone that knows the merchandise or anyone who is not a ignorant kid goofing around. One young man sent me all around the store in the wrong direction for batteries. The turnaround of employees is every week. Never the same people. Seems like the same rude and unfriendly cashiers. The cashiers seem I wnew and scrambling .

I totally agree that the Mesquite store needs to check references on some of these young idiot boys they hire. In the weight area they stand there and talk and do not answer you when you ask for help. There are no prices on the merchandise. When you need help carrying something out then you will wait even longer. You will wait for a price and wait for them to go to the back then wait in line and then wait at the front door forever. The front door person can never get a guy to come carry it out. Then some smart mouth comes up there after 15 or more minutes. This place needs some people who are trained and not rude. Supervision is needed when you hire punks.

Academy Sports in Mesquite hires young teens who could care less. They hide or avoid all the customers. The managers stay in the back and have no idea what is going on with these teens they hire. The other Academys are just as bad. I quit working there due to the rudeness of the front end Senior Team Lead who would never train me. I was a cashier who just quit after a couple of months. I am not going to ne treated badly in front of customers and my peers. My advice to Academy is to hire some people who have a professional background and not people who make a mockery out of your store.

I had to return a GPS system and the guy behind the counter at the Town East Mesquite location was so rude and cocky. The system did not work and he acted like I was stupid . He told me I was not using it properly and didnt know what I was doing. I will never shop there again. Paul Landers

I just went to the Academy and I do not know if it is just the Mesquite area or the store. It is a big mess. You could not find a parking place and when I finally walked in, there were no shopping baskets. I could not shop with my son just walking beside me and I needed to get several things. After walking around in the mess, I finally gave up and went home. Nobody said hello, Nobody offered help. I am very disappointed in my experience at your store. Juanita Sanchez ...

Academy Sports amd Outdoors is a loser company. The managers are hired because they are friends with each other all the way to H.R. There is sexual harrassment, abuse and very uneducated friends of each other who get management positions. They all sleep together. They would never be able to get jobs as managers in any other stores. I worked part time for a month and quit. The abuse was horrible. The nights were so late and the associates were so ghetto. All the managers flirted with the associates and even harrassed the girls. I would never work for Academy again in Mesquite or anywhere else.

You are so right. In Mesquite Texas the place is so filthy that the merchandise is full of dust and dirt. Anything that is white turns grey from the dirt. Everything is up high and no one to help you. The average age of the help and managers is 12 and they are friends of each other. My sister use to work for Academy and she said they were always behind on getting the merchandise out. Always behind schedule on everything. None of the managers care. The people who are suppose to be working are usually just standing around talking or drinking coffee. She hated working there.. Lots of favortism and lazy people became managers. She said 2 Tead leads and 2 managers sat in the back all day long on the computer and never came out to help. She went to work elsewhere where customer service and fairness meant something. She now works in a clean and happy retail store.

The problem with people who shop sporting goods stores is that they have NO money and trying to support a hobby they cannot afford so they gripe like whiny babies about their cheap equipment they insist on buying. They try to bring back used items because they over used them or busted up something because they did not properly use the item. The lack of manners and education of the Mesquite Texas people is amazing. A bunch of BROKE idiots who cannot afford their guns, boats, shoes, bullets and workout equipment. They use and abuse everything and then these broke ### people bring it back and whine and complain. Do us a favor and take your broke ### self to Wally world We do not need your kind of sh%#. We are sick of your ugly broke ### lies and your lack of education. If you cannot afford the product then get lost. We are sick of you stealing and cannot speak properly. I will shop at the nicest and most pleasant store that offers quality merchandise and a good selection. It is hard to shop the big stores because in the Mesquite area, the people have changed for the worse. Lots of low lifes and everybody looking for a free ride. Welcome Gander to the area. From Gerald H. Garland, Texas Glad to see some new stores opening. I went to Gander and bought 2 guns today and very satisfied. I found a great selection in long guns. I also found a pair of boots and some camping gear. Seems like I spent more than I should but each employee helped me along the way and my experience was pleasant.

Heard that Academy in Mesquite has some major issues going on. Compared to the complaints Gander has, it does not compare to the hostle sexual work relationships going at Academy right now and nothing is done. I heard a customer walked off with a gun and you fired the associate, but you allow a management team member to sexually harass young ladies and sleep with his associates he is suppose to manage. You look horrible letting this go on. You have far more serious complaints then Gander. Yes we hear everything over here. You talk about professional? How professional is your management staff of perverts? You are Disgusting and sick! I will stick with Gander!

The Academy store in Waco, TX has a pretty good selection IF your expectations aren't too high. Looking at pistols, it's difficult to get help unless you can flag someone down--they're certainly not going to ask if you need help (same thing happened later on when looking at reels) and once done, you get the distinct impression that you're wasting their time. Yes, I know it's an age thing and sure, when staffing, you get what you pay for.. But contrast that with the Cabela's store in Fort Worth. Wow! Friendly, courteous and competent staff who seem genuinely interested in helping you find what you came for. But it all comes down to the store's manager who sets the tone and chooses how customer expectations are met, pure and simple. So given that it seems to be a regional thing--at least in Texas--is the DM or RM the Neanderthal or does it issue from corporate, also in Texas? IDK but at least in Waco, we're getting a Cabela's Outpost, their 3rd in the country. They open later this month and just maybe the mgmt. at Academy will get a clue. Lord knows they have plenty of time on their hands not having to deal with customers in a timely manner.

Academy seems to have the wrong associates and you are so right about customer service. I see there are alot of sexual misconduct going on at the Mesquite store. I will NOT shop a store who does nothing about the harrassment. One of the reasons there is no customer service is that the male managers are too busy trying to get the female associates in bed. This is against the law. I suggest going to the organizations for sexual harrassment and filing a claim. The ung women can also get a lawyer. To all the customers who shop Mesquite, how would you feel giving your money to an organization who promotes this behavior? How would you like your daughters or moms working there under these conditions of law breaking.

Call Katy Texas...or Picket in front of the store. Why do they not have a policy against this. I Guess it depends on the HR manager and the uppet mamagement who pronably already has violations. Get the womens movement involved and boycott Academy.

I went to the Academy in Mesquite last weekend and most of the employees are standing around. I was looking for a basketball goal for my 2 boys but no one came to help me. There does not seem to be anyone who wants to help. The store looked in shambles. I could not find anyone to help with basketball shorts in the clothing department. I ended up leaving and going to Dicks Sporting Goods. I did find some very polite employees.

Academy is busy and has no time for low life shoplifters. Academy associates only have time to play. Academy hires low class management and associates who could care less. They look and act like the ghetto. Shirts down to the knees. Pierces in their face and dirty pants. Worse than Wal Mart. You can never get any help and the merchandise looks old and used. The dumb people still shop that crap. I will never shop Academy again. I like a neat classier place like Bass Pro.

I shop at Bass Pro or Dicks. I never seem to find what I need at Academy. Either they do not carry it anymore or the shelves are empty. They do not stock up like they used to. Most of the things that I bought from Academy I have to get elsewhere. I do not know why they are very low on merchandise. Katrice

Academy would be okay if they would choose a better class of people. Every time I go in there are a bunch of kids who are just flirting with each other or hanging out. Very loud women in the sportswear department and no one in the shoes. Just lots of gigling yelling. Sounds like teenagers but look older. They mostly ignore me when I am looking for workout clothing and tennis shoes. I am an instructor so I know what to buy but would like a little help finding it. I started going to Dick's Sporting Goods and it is much quieter. Not so much craziness. Dicks is very neat. Mrs. Bannister-Taylor

I worked at Academy at Mesquite and the drama was unbelieveable. The store director does not speak to the associates or the customers. There are associates who are late every day and have alot of points but never get fired. The management is inexperienced and flirts and has sex with the females. Human Resources is a big fat joke. His name begins with J. He covers up the sexual situations and does nothing. My parents finally made me quit. It was the worst job ever. I do not know why anyone would work or shop there.

When I worked for Academy, I was also going to school and they knew that and they knew my availability because I filled out a paper and it was on my job application. Night after night they scheduled me till 12 pm and sometimes I didn't get out until 2:00 in the morning and I had a class at 7:00 am. I tried to tell them but they could care less. I was not going to miss school so I could better myself. I am not an idiot that I am going to spend the rest of my life working at Academy and become angry like most of the managers. They pay crap. You get treated like crap. The customers are crappy. The company talks crap. Well I am not a slave so I hightailed it out of that junkyard and got a great management position at the Gap. I am being paid alot more, and still suceeding in college. I would advise anyone to stay away. I never looked back.

If the top manager does not promote good will and a positive atmisphere then why would you expect the employees to care and the customers have any respect. When I went to the manager (bald white guy) he could have cared less. You can see the store is not run properly. It is a disaster on most weekends. I shop at Dicks now even though I live in the Mesquite area. Something needs to happen with that store. It starts from the top. They have no merchandise and no help and no manager who cares. Martin

Today I found out that they will profile you when you return to the store for a second time in one day to make a return and decide to do more shopping the second time. Never going back to this store in College Station. Now keep in mind I had logged my return at the front when you 1st walk in so that was already at customer service & picked up the item I was going to exchange because that to was at the front of the store at the clearance rack. While browsing an associate found me in the store and asked me was I there earlier? And I turned to face him, he said " Yes, the Benjamin shirt. You can ask them to help you find what your are looking for at the fitting room." I told him I was looking at other items also. He shook his head & said "No. They can help you there." So at that point I just make my exchange & mention to the cashier that while I was shopping an associate stopped me. In my car I called a store manager & 1st they hung up on me. I called back & explained my experience. They asked his description & apologized but I felt he was the one that came looking for me. After that point I just put in a customer complaint with headquarters. It makes more sense to see if I'm going to walk out of the store with a item before coming to find me like that because if I had found the other item I was looking for I would have purchased that too. If it matters, yes I am black but I work in retail and know more than blacks are profiled. But could it have been that Benjamin Franklin on my shirt that flagged me as a person of the 'hood'? I don't know & it doesn't matter I'm a paying customer. My main complaint is you disturbed my shopping experience & left a bad taste in my mouth.

I have stopped shopping Mesquite Academy. The associates are looking like gang bangers and have no respect. There is no help or smiling faces. On Saturday I went in for the last time just to find some workout shorts. The fitting room was so filthy and no one cleaning it. There were some associates just laughing and doing nothing. I just said to my daughter that enough is enough and walked out. What a disorganized store.

I purchased a 12 ft. trampoline on 11/14 for 189.99.. On November 23 they have them marked down to 149.99 so I call to ask if I bring my receipt can I get a refund or store credit for the difference and they say they are not allowed to do that ALTHOUGH MOST STORES WOULD DO IT! PLUS THEIR PRICES AR RIDICULOUSLY HIGH COMPARED TO OTHER STORES SO I WONT BE GOING BACK.

This week Academy has been running an ad for the Taurus PT111 9 mm pistol and a free 22 revolver with it for $299.99. Guess what
3 of the stores in my area were out of them and I was told they did not expect anymore of them. One of the clerks in the Mckinney Texas
store was laughing and said that corporate ordered their stock and they had no control over what they got. They did not care that I wasted my
time coming back into the store after being told to come back Wednesday that they usually got a truck on that day. I will never shop at another
Academy again. This is what is wrong with big companies now days they do not care for the customers only the money they bring in.
I have been shopping at Academy for years and Wednesday was the last time they will ever see me in one of there stores.

They refuse to give me my gun that I bought from a third party no one was helping me with the form nor was I told that I won’t get my gun if I got one of the questions wrong I accidentally clicked the wrong answer and they are now holding my firearm for a month

Paid off my credit account in cash, which was approximately 80.00, and find out 2 months later my account is late and they never applied the cash to pay the account... Had to pay the late charge as well as the 80.00 again, because I could not find my receipt... Live and learn.
