This company tricked my 72 year old mom, who lives on a fixed income of $855 per month, into a 20 year contract for a solar system she didn't
This company tricked my 72 year old mom, who lives on a fixed income of $855 per month, into a 20 year contract for a solar system she didn't need in 2016. The system was built poorly and doesn't cover her electricity usage, causing her bill to skyrocket from around $150 per month to $550 per month. Every year, she gets a "Tru-Up" statement for $1300 to $1600 because the solar system doesn't generate enough electricity. We've tried contacting the contractor, but they tell her to use less electricity instead of fixing the problem. They shouldn't have sold her a solar system under false pretenses or taken advantage of her age. The company won't answer calls or respond to letters, and they operate out of a house with a phone number that forwards to a cell phone. We've filed a complaint with the CSLB and will sue if necessary to help my poor mom out of this terrible situation.
I signed a contract with American Array Solar, Inc
I signed a contract with American Array Solar, Inc. in November to redo my roof and gutters for $***. I put down a deposit of $1000, leaving a balance of $13,220. The project started on 1/12/2022, and the roofers began throwing shingles everywhere in my yard without a dumpster or tarps. I texted the rep, and he said they would take care of any damages. The job was completed on 1/26/2022, and I received an invoice for the $13,220 due. However, I was unhappy with the damage caused to my house paint, concrete, and yard. *** had the roof guy come back, but he made the paint worse. *** agreed to have my painter fix everything for $500. The gutters were also installed incorrectly and needed to be redone, costing an additional $300 for my painter to repaint. I received another invoice on 2/9/2022 for the original amount of $14,220 plus $500 to remove solar attachments, minus $1000 initial deposit, and $800 discounts for repairs. The solar attachments were an issue because I had to pay my solar company $500 to remove and reinstall them. I explained this to them on the first day, but they still complained. I mailed a check for $12,420 on 2/19/2022, and they cashed it the next week. However, they put a lien on my house for $14,182.80. I emailed them on Monday asking for a breakdown of the lien, but I have not heard back from them.
I met with Asif, the project manager at American Array Solar, Inc
I met with Asif, the project manager at American Array Solar, Inc. on 9/18 and signed a contract for a solar system with a 10-year loan. The amount was $1875 to cancel the contract. They promised us a check from the *** for going solar, which we could use to pay off the solar loan or fix up the house. However, we found out that it was actually a credit and we were not eligible for the tax credit since we had no tax liability. The amount we were told to pay for ten years was actually calculated for 20 years.
The project manager had us sign the contract on a cell phone and did not allow us to take notes. We realized we had been misled after doing the math and discovering the truth. We immediately called to cancel our contract on 10/6, but they did not finalize our cancellation until 10/20. They demanded $3700 to cancel the contract, which was 10% of the system's price. We disagreed with this amount since their home survey only lasted 60 minutes, and they had only paid $150 for the permit. We had never seen or approved any solar plan for our home, and we had no other communication from their company up to that point.
After researching, we found out that they were not honest at all. Our home is in a trust, and no form was signed by the trustees. We were not enrolled in NEM with PG&E, and they went through the permit process without final approval of the design. They also promised us a yearly check from PG&E, which was not true.
Overall, we were misled and had a terrible experience with American Array Solar, Inc. We had to pay $1875 to cancel the contract, which was unfair. We do not recommend this company to anyone.

I signed a contract with American Array Solar, Inc
I signed a contract with American Array Solar, Inc. for a certain amount, but a week later they said I needed a new electrical box and charged me an extra $2500. I refused to pay for their mistake and asked them to cancel the contract. They said I would have to pay $3000 for cancellation, which I agreed to. However, I never received an invoice and later found out they had put a lien on my property without notifying me. I tried to contact them multiple times, but they were short-staffed and didn't get back to me for weeks. When the manager finally called me back, she said they had ordered and brought everything to my home, which was not true. I cancelled the contract before they could order anything. The manager refused to let me talk to the owner and insisted I pay the full amount of $6000. Their advertising was misleading and they billed me for something I never received. This company is not honest or business-friendly.
