I would expect this from India, but a US company based in Texas? wow! This company "American Messaging Services" have been spoof calling me up to 6 times per day starting before 7 am EST. They hang up when i politely ask to be removed from the caller list, so I called them back to ask again and they have blocked my number. They continue to spoof call me wasting valuable work time (I have to answer in case of emergencies)
Having researched this practice for some time now I found that according to Section 227 of the Communications Act (47 U.S.C. § 227) and also Section 64.1601 of the FCC's Rules (47 CFR § 64.1601) these practices are illegal and fall under the Truth in Caller ID Act, which, according to FCC guidelines prohibit anyone from transmitting misleading or inaccurate caller ID Information with the intent to defraud, cause harm or wrongly obtain anything of value. Each willful or malicious violation is subject to a fine of up to $40,000.
I suggest that anyone with a complaint hit them where it hurts by filling a complaint with the FCC - Go to the Consumer Inquiries and Complaint Center to report them.
Also add your number to the National Do-Not-Call Registry, not that they care but at least your number is listed there when the FCC actually does something about this company.
Desired outcome: To prevent others from dealing with the same illegal practices
