incompetance
I have been looking into getting new eyeglasses for the past few months, and decided to try Americas Best in Pontiac. The eye exam was rushed through to the point where the doctor was cutting me off in mid sentence. I was very dissapointed to see that their 2 pair for 69.00 deal was for a very basic package, no scratch resistant coating, and no Anti Reflective coating. After picking out 2 pairs (Glasses and Sunglasses) they proceeded to tell me that the tint of my glasses would be very light because of the lens type. There was almost no point in having this tinting on these glasses because it was so light. I have the same lens type in an older pair of sunglasses, same style and options and the lenses were easially twice as dark. They then explained to me that they could not go any darker than what they showed me and I settled for what they showed me.
2 weeks later I call in to see if my glasses had arrived (it being a day or two past the expected date) and they were in. I drove down to the store (over 40 miles), picked up my glasses, put them on and they just didn't seem right. my right eye seemed perfect while my left eye was struggling to focus. The girl said to just try them for a while and see what happens. A few hours and a headache later, I am wearing the glasses and look at something out of the corner of my eye and see that anything other than the center of the lens is a complete blur.
I go back the next day (40 miles to the shop) and they have me go in and see another doctor. He then re-examines my eyes and tells me that my eyes are OVER A DIOPTER OFF FROM THE FIRST EXAM! I ask him how this can happen and he nor anyone else has a clue. Not only are the lenses not right, but neither is my prescription! The new glasses are ordered and I drive 40 miles back home to wait another 2 weeks.
Today I got a call saying that my glasses are in again so I drive down (240 miles total round trip) to try again, and the perscription is now WAY OFF AGAIN! Instead of being blurry, it is now so sharp and over that my eyes can't even focus with the glasses on.
At this point I tell them that this has cost me 240 miles running back and forth and ask for my money back and they submitted to my request without a problem. They even refunded the cost of the eye exam (45.00) because of the long distance that I had to drive. In the end I am out probably $60.00 for all of the gas burned making the 3 trips.
When I was waiting for them to try to look up my current prescription (perfect pair of glasses from D.O.C when it was still around 7 years ago) A girl was sitting waiting to see the Dr. for a 2nd time for a screw up for contact lenses.
I think I might have better luck mixing and matching broken glass bottles to look through than getting a pair of glasses from this company. Don't be fooled by their low prices! They can probably be considered America's Best Con Artists!

poor customer service
I recently had an appointment at the America's Best in Blaine, MN. I was very disappointed in their service. I had an appoinment at 2, and had to wait until 3 to get my eyes checked finally. When I went in for the initial check to measure my eye and so on, it was disgusting that on the machine was leftover cleaner and my chin was wet with it. At least they clean it right? After I saw the doctor, I had to wait at least another half hour until anyone came over to give me my perscription and order my contacts. She was waiting on a man and after she was done with him, she went and shuffled some papers and put the glasses display back on the shelf and I felt like she could have done that after she had waited on me because she knew I was sitting there waiting. After all of this, they shipped my contact order to the wrong address. I had specifically told them that I needed it shipped to a different address and wrote it down for them and they still got it wrong. Never will go back here again. They seem very unprofessional and uncaring.

I haven't had bad customer service but I have bought glasses from America's Best twice and both times I have to keep paying the local eye glass store 5.00 over and over to replace the screws as they keep falling out. They do seem to be a kind of low class operation and one eye Dr. had an attitude like I was bothering him to get my eyes checked. I plan to contact the company if I can find the information and complain even though I feel it will do no good.
stay away at all costs
I and my husband went to the Rock Hill, SC store. We had drove all the way from Statesville, NC to Rock Hill, SC. I checked in @ service desk and the receptionist gave me a mean, jealous look. So I sat and waited (checking to ensure they had not forgot about me at the desk).in the end I waited all day and Never got to see the doctor. Mind you, I've been a patient there before but that didn't matter. The location is too busy to care how long you wait or how far you've driven!

false advertising.
I recently went to America's Best in response to an advertised deal involving two complete pairs of glasses, lenses, and eye exam for $69.95. I was treated very well, though I felt the initial eye exam was rather quick. The secondary exam by the optometrist was pleasant, and I picked out two good sets of frames for the lenses. [Okay, my girlfriend picked out the frames; she's better at that sort of thing than I am.] When I sat down to pay for my purchase and have the lenses ground, however, I was presented with a bill for $248. Not $69.95. I was taken aback, and the salesgirl explained that the $69 deal only included the basic plastic frames, which she described as flimsy, bulky, easily scratched and damagable, and that for my astigmatism [mild] they strongly suggested that I get the carbon polymer lenses [which is what I assumed I was getting all along anyway], because the plastic lenses weren't appropriate for astigmatism.
I was stunned. I was prepared to pay twice what I expected, figuring I would choose more expensive frames or something like that; I was not prepared to pay nearly 3.5 times the quoted fee. Oh — I should mention that when we first called America's Best about the deal, we were assured that the deal covered all lenses except the transitional light-sensitive lenses, which I wasn't getting.
After reviewing my options, I elected to just go with one set of frames rather than two. However, as it turns out, one set of frames was nearly MORE expensive than just two sets, because now the deal no longer applied. [Which is reasonable, actually.]
Since I felt strongly that I was a) deceived on my original phone call [lied to about inclusion of all types of lenses] and b) felt aggressively pressured by the salesgirl to ignore the deal I had originally expected because the lenses were "not appropriate" for my astigmatism, I simply paid for the eye exam alone [a reasonable $45] and left without glasses.
Had the fact that all types of lenses were NOT included in the deal been told to me in the beginning, rather than being told falsely that they are, I would have happily paid for the $248, had I been quoted it accurately before the whole event took place. Instead, I got an eye exam for a reasonable price, and that is where my life as an America' s Best customer will end. Other companies have more honest advertising, and I will be more prepared for their cost.

I went into America's Best for an eye exam, thinking that I would get two pairs of glasses and an eye exam for $69.00, just like their advertising states. However, after my exam and after getting fitted for glasses, I was informed that my total would be about $248 plus tax. I said to the employee "I thought that it was $69.00 for everything", and she stated "That's for plastic lenses only, and you can't get plastic lenses because of your subscription". I then stated that this was a huge price difference, and told her that their advertising is very misleading and should be changed. She then said "Yeah, most people don't qualify for that offer". So, an admission by the employee of the company that America's Best is advertising an offer that most of their customers can't take advantage of. This is false advertising if you ask me.
I also got the ole bait and swith! my tottal was 333$ ! Buyer beware of this company!
I too became a victim of America's Best. The problem I have is that on my receipt it looks like I was charged double for alot of the items. My $69.99 glasses that I got came up to $183 dollars. The assistant even added on charges that I didn't ask for . I will be returning there first thing tommorrow morning and if they get testy with me I will just tell them to keep the $40 I put down on the lenses and give me my prescription and I will go elsewhere. In fact I might do that anyway. I don't like the looks of that place.
Although I will admit the doctor was very professional and knew his stuff. I know this because the last prescription i got was from a vision specialist who has been in the business for over 25 years and the America's best doctor said my prescription was roughly the same and I didn't really need a strong prescription. So why then did my bill come up to $183?
I wonder how many out there were prescribed bifocals in order to not qualify for the special? Do you really need bifocals? Hmm Or maybe the doc diagnoses a need for bifocals to all new customers?
My hubby recently got just that. WOnder why the real eye doc (not America's best doc) didn't prescribe bifocals when he went there the same day? He got glasses with a prescription for farsightedness and no need for bifocals. We also paid on that same day to America's Best about $245.00 for the prescribed 'bifocal'. We did this in order to write an expose and you can look for that soon.
ANyone out there who went to America's Best and was prescribed a bifocal and did not qualify for the 'special' please email me your info.
Thanks.
I worked there for 5 years. What a shabbily run outfit! I was a technician, so I had no part in sales, but I saw many times how customers were baited, and switched.
refuse to give me price
I was given a price of $380.00 for one pair of single vision and one pair of progressive bifocals including exam. They refused to give me the price for just one pair of either kind. After asking 3 times with no answer I asked for a copy of my prescription. I was told because I wasted so much time "Hemming and hawing" the doctor was gone and could not sign it. Now I am being bombarded with automated voice mail advertising from unpublished number and they will not take me off the list. Menus options for opting out of these automated messages just keep going around to the same menus over and over.

It's not a matter of "Cheap ###"? Rather it's a matter of "BAIT & SWITCH"! If America's Best or Worst proclaims "more for less" then they should deliver. Otherwise, don't make the offer sound magnificient!
So let me get this straight: You expected to get a pair of progressive bifocals, a pair of single vision lenses, 2 frames, and an eye exam for $69.95? I'm always happy to give people like you their prescription so they can go to Lenscrafters and pay $500 dollars for one pair of progressives and another $300 for the single vision pair, and $60 for the exam alone. People who expect high end lenses for $69.95 should do some research first, then actually pay attention to the advertisement. It states that the offer includes single vision plastic lenses only, and some restrictions apply. In other words, not progressives, or any bifocal for that matter. It also excludes any lenses other than thick plastic lenses. So if you want premium lenses, then be prepared to pay premium prices (which are still lower than any other place in your area). Cheap bastad.
I dunno... maybe next time have some dignity and find a place that will actually sell you quality eyeglasses. Doesn't sound like a great experiance for you? I learned from you mistake.. thanks
false advertising; rash treatment of employees
I worked there as a technician, however I was forced to lie on a day-to-day basis to sell people a "Visual Field Exam" we would charge for $15... if I didn't have 55% every day, I'd be written up.

overall bad experience
I just wanted to air some complaints about my recent visit to America's Best. This was my first time there and it will be my last. I went there with an open mind because I know plenty of people who have gone to Binyon's and other similiar places with no complaints so I thought I would give them a try. Instead I wished I had saved my money. Instead of...

For the second time in two years I took my son in for his exam. Last year I made an appointment for him and they forgot about us and it took over two hours. They apologized and I just thought it was a bad day and left it at that. That is until today, I again made an appointment. We were there ten minutes before. There were 3 people ahead of me. That was fine and then 4 more people walked in after us and I over heard them telling the clerk their appointment times and all were after mine. All 4 people were called before my son. We had already been waiting for over an hour. I walked out, but not before yelling at the clerks for their once again very rude and unprofessional behavior. I will never go again. I don't care if it is a good deal. I would rather spend more money and be treated with the respect that we all deserve!
I have been a patient of Americas Best for over five years, and finally decided that I would go else where. I totally agree with the previous complaint. I do not want to to say all Americas Best have the same attitude but I know the one in IL on Golf Rd. does. Each time my eye club membership expires I would never get any reminder notices, which I think that this will help assist in the follow up skills that they are lacking in this locations. At one point they marked my wrong age in my chart, and claimed that I had exam for glasses, and not contacts. Please be advised my schedule is busy, so I knowck out two birds with one stone. The rep obviously didn't document in the chart, or something. Everytime I go to this eye place I would see a different eye doctor, which is in my opinion different.
I also would have them go back and forth with me regarding my last exam, and once again no reminder notice. In my opinion I think that the management are not really understanding to the definition of CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have witnessed, and dealt with the sales associates become comfrontational with customers like we are children. I would constantly have to have them placing me on hold for long periods of time looking for my charts, and questioning me am I at the right location. I'm not a lazy person, but work two jobs. I trully think that instead of saying that wonderful long greeting that they should learn to fine tune details, and follow up service. I trully feel that this company has really good specials, but is it worth the aggravation to save 10.00 or so.
Rud employees ! the employees did not explain my contract to me! My contacts to me. I was charged 133.61 for thinking that I had a 5 year contract. The paper states contacts are 12.19.
the statement I received I had to pay 17.99. This service I fell is not at all what I they seem to be!
wrong prescription
After the initial rude treatment for not ordering all the extras they try to force on you I finally received my glasses. They were the wrong prescription.
I called and they said to bring them back for a refund the next day. When I got there I was told, very rudely, that I would have to come back another day.
I explained to the "lady" that I lived an hour and a half away. She told me to have a seat and wait, I did, over 2 hours! By this time I’m sick of the place. Finally I ask for a refund they refunded 34.00 but said my free exam cost 40.00... Hmm. So I demanded my prescription. Which they finally gave me. Checking this against the glass order I found that the high pressure warranty salesman had entered my prescription wrong almost doubling the power. The way I figure it with gas wait time and three trips I would have been much cheaper to have just ordered from a local Doctor. I guess you get what you pay for.

America's best is not real, you paid for a sunglass and the give you a wrong one after they ask you to wait for the manager, but can t tell you for how long the wait time.
Went to the Americas Best here in Dale City, VA on Nov 23. I have Zeiss glass lenses as I prefer them over the plastic ones. Decided to go not due to the price, but because of the service from where I nomally buy. First thing should have been the give away, I must have an eye exam, even though, I see an Opthomologist due to having a small cataract in one eye had already told me there was no change in Rx. Well after the frames, whistles and bell, it came to almost $600 for two pairs. They arrived less than a week later. One pair had to be sent back, the lens kept falling out. Dec 3, took both pair back, left eye was killing me. Took them 45 minutes to figure out that the lens was wrong on both pair the axis was up in the far upper left. After calling for over two weeks, the first pair was back, told them that I would pick them up when the other pair arrived, received call on Dec 20, Lab had broke the frames on the second pair, finally found the frame, as they were discontinued. Went Dec 24, picked up first pair, second pair still not in. Watched so called specialist put a new screw in on the left side, broke it off with side cutters. Now I have a pair of new glasses, that looks like a third world product. Still waiting for the second pair, see when before new year they come. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. FAST TO TAKE MONEY AND NO SERVICE.
Hey! Listen to this . I to was deceived by Americas Best Contact. You don't always get what you pay for even when it is their price. I a recent patient of them was very disappointed to find out that 69.95 must be your finders fee they charge us. I of course was not given the correct glasses, and the lame excuses that they give us are unacceptable. Everybody wants to point the finger at everyone else. Not only did they mess my order up they think gas is .99 cent a gallon duh! I walk in there and they dont say Good morning, just may I help you. So, I say good morning to you too(hint, hint) never a response just a sigh. Just to find out that now that it will be another period of waiting before your glasses are ready...thank god it is two for one cause if one pair isnt messsed up then the other one is jacked up! Just to go to show how much society has changed...it wouldnt be a business if no one shopped there. Lets get back to the basics of customer service please.
I went in for their great offer $69.95 for two pair of eye glasses including "FREE" exam. While waiting for my eye exam I picked out two eye glass frames. So then I finally have my eye exam and the doctor writes my eye glass prescription. Now I'm all excited, I haven't been able to afford an eye exam, let alone a pair of glasses to boot. Weeeeeeeeeelll, now we sit down with the oh so polite person who is putting together my two pair of frames I have picked out and my prescription so I can pay up. Weeeeeeeeeeeeelll, now, my grand total is almost $200.00. Why? Because I have a SPECIAL prescription. What? Yes, I need a special presciption because my right eye is what thay call a "lazy eye", NO SH-T, that's why I'm getting glasses. Well that's extra. I tried and tried to find their reason with their special offer and what they were trying to charge me, to no avail. I ended up paying $40.00 for my "free" eye exam, took the prescription to a local eye doctor who honored the prescription and let me pick a pair of frames. He charged me $70 and another $35 for a second pair. I was told by America's Best that I would never be able to go to another one of their stores. America's Best? Hmmm
thieves
I purchased the 2 for one deal. I did pay for the extra coverage (3yrs.). I was living in Metairie, LA at the time; I moved to Maryland soon after. I went back 6 months before my "3 years" for Mardi Grass, so I took both glasses with me so I can get them fixed/replaced.
When I got to the store (Esplanade Mall in Kenner, LA) the lady at the reception desk told me that they don't offer the 3yrs. warranty/insurance or whatever you want to call it. I asked to check for my prescription and she told me that I was not in their system. I should have brought my receipt or prescription with me, who knew!
They have license to steal.

America's Best does offer a warranty, but it is a ONE year warranty against breakage (not loss) and I'm pretty sure you need to use it at the same store you purchased from. Also, might you be talking about the 3 year Eyecare Club membership? That is for free eyeglass and contact lens exams, NOT for warranties against glasses.
Just like any other buisness there is a fine print you have to ask questions. Everyone needs to be responsible for their own actions!, they do give you forms to read and fill out! do you need someone to go through every bit of detail? its all in writing all you have to do is be an adult and read.Fact of the matter is you cant please every one and remember the saying ?..you get what you pay for! the service is done at an outside lab give 'em a break they are not robots!
glasses were not ready in two weeks time
I called every other day to see if my order was ready. I was serviced on 05/12/08. I called the morning of 05/27/08 to see if my order was ready, then I was informed that the frame I wanted was out of stock, so I had to go back and select another frame. Mind you no one called to let me know the frame was not in stock. I was told the morning of 05/27/08 when I called. Also my second pair was supposed to be only tinted lens they had bifocal put on the tinted pair. They were not to be bifocal only to block the sun. This was my first time using your company, I am not pleased with the service at all

I purchase a pair of Ray Bans with a the trimmings. A little more than a year latter. The lenses are impairing my vision. Anti-glare coating is the culprit. I contacted America's Best in Metairie, LA. They told me that the lenses were not covered under warranty because I caused the problem by not cleaning the classes properly. I'm sure that there are alot more people out there with this issue. Stay away from anti-glare coatings.
I see both sides. I understood the 69.95 would be just for basic lens and frames. I do realize that I, having a strong prescription, will always have to pay upgrades for thinner lenses and I always get the anti glare(LOVE anti glare!). But, I just used America's Best (Feb.2011) and I will just give you my opinion. I went at the wrong time of the year(tax return time)! They were packed and even though I had an appointment, the people that walked in, all of them were served before me and I had to wait for an hour and 1/2 after my appointment time. They really should have served those who had an appointment and worked in those who walked in or set their appt for another day. I already have my glasses back and do enjoy them but after doing some research, their upgrades are rediculously expensive. I would have been better off paying for an eye appointment and getting my prescription and ordering online @ something like eyebuydirect which i found with a simple google search. I made up an order with them and frames and upgrades(super thin lens, anti scratch, anti glare, and uv protection)for 2 pairs came to $110.00! My total at America's Best came to $370.00! That's tooooooo big of a difference for me! I would have come out better getting the regular $69.95 special and getting the prescription and then ordering that prescription on the internet. Believe me, this will not happen again! Now, as far as customer service, the doctor at our location was wonderful but i did voice to the doctor how one of the employees out in the front had a horrible attitude toward a customer that was returning her glasses. She ended up helping me when I was picking my frames and had a much better attitude. But, then, she helped me when I picked up my glasses and she had that same nasty attitude I had witnessed before. But, I will voice that with that location and let them handle that. Well, that is my experience so maybe that will help someone save a little bit if doing upgrades when looking to go there. Oh, by the way, I priced my dads glasses online who had his appointment after mine. He was supposed to get bifocals but they were so expensive, he ended up getting single vision and somehow, they still ended up with him having a $170.00 bill so I will be looking into this also. I made him an order online and it came up to $60(1 pair) with PROGRESSIVE lenses with antiglare, antiscratch and uv protection and frame!(he didn't need the thin lens which would have added $20-$30 depending on how thin you need them) So he could have ended up with 2 pairs, with what he needed, for $120.
I dont think many people really UNDERSTAND the whole two pairs for the $69.95. I get tired of people assuming and getting mad at the fact that they cant have progressive lenses for $69.95. I mean come on people...
I think to understand how America's Best can offer such a great value, you have to understand that they are making money by selling volume. You can go sit in LensCrafters and get served in 10 minutes on a Saturday without any problem, and walk away with a $300 pair of glasses, or you can arrange to go during non-peak hours and spend your $89.
It's the classic time vs. value equation.
Also, a quick google search, and you'll learn America's Best is a subsidiary of National Vision, Inc, a company based out of Lawrenceville, GA (have no idea where the foreign assumption came from).
I disagree. I think the staff and service was wonderful.
I went to Americas Best for contacts . Because I have never worn contacts before I had to attend a class on how to install and remove them . I am 44 years old and because I have never had to do this before it was difficult to say the least ! My situation was only compounded by the lack of patience demonstrated by the staff at Americas Best . Because the weekends are so busy for them I was told that I must return on a week day to finish this so called class . I am in the trades and it is very difficult for me to this as I have explained to the manager at the location in Tinley Park Il . I find it disturbing that the were not that busy on weekend to except my $89, 00.00 . I believe Americas Best Contacts and Eyeglasses is a foreign owned company, perhaps its parent company is Americas Best Contacts and Eyeglasses of Russia because they only serve you when they TEll you to come in and not when it is convenient for the consumer. I am not all at pleased with Americas Best Contacts and Eye Glasses . THIS COMPANY IS NOT AMERICAS BEST!
was this really an eye exam?
This is not a total complaint — yet. I am giving this a chance, but am prepared to have to fight.
Went to America's Best today to pick up my daughter's other pair of glasses. Have to say — great deal, couldn't beat it! However, she got her eyes tested elsewhere.
Had my exam today. It took all of 3 minutes — if that. I go 2 choices on each eye. Which one is more clear. I was shocked when that was it.
She didn't even have me read up close, even though I mentioned I was having trouble.
I am not at all confident in the prescription I was given.

You would think these people were deliberately Not filling my glasses order. I have endangered people driving, cant do computer work & thus, perform my job, i'm out wages and work still...all the while being expected to be patient about this incompetence.
I know this is an old thread but I can't find anything about this anywhere. I got some glasses from AB about 3 years ago, the "special 2 pairs" and ended up paying over $400 because I got Transitions, which seemed a little excessive but I paid it. I noticed after a few weeks that my vision wasn't any better, but decided to just give it some time. Eventually, due to being homeless and not having money for new glasses, I just stopped wearing them. Today I went and got my eyes checkedat a different place and gave them my old pair to get the prescription off them. She asked where I got them. I said Americas Best. She said there was no prescription on them. I paid over $400 for glasses, and at least one pair (the main paor I had been wearing for over a year) had no prescription. I went back to AB and asked for my prescription, which they gave me, even thought it was 'expired', so I know I had a prescription, why else would they sell me the damn glasses? My husband and I are contacting a lawyer to figure out what our options are, because its not about me getting over $400 back. Its about how many other people have been scammed like this.
My 10 year old son has been complaining with headaches for a few weeks now, so I decided to get his vision checked. He told me before we went to AB that he was having trouble seeing the board in class, and that sometimes when he's tired, words on a page look shadowy. I made an appointment at AB and took him for an exam, thinking that with this being his first pair of glasses (and his vision not being too terrible at this point) we would be able to scoot by with the free exam and 2 pair of single vision lens glasses. WRONG!
The "doctor" did his exam and said that he does "barely need a prescription" and then followed that up by telling me that she was prescribing bifocals for him even though he is nearsighted because his distance vision is making his eyes fatigued. At the time I was sleep deprived from having been up for nearly 32 hours with my daughter who had just given birth, so it didn't quite click in my brain what she was saying.
We went out to the lobby and picked out a pair of glasses he liked. They were a 59.99 pair, and when the sales associate approached us, she actually had already inferred that we would only be purchasing one pair of glasses. I knew at that point that we would not be able to get the 2 pair for 69.99 deal, but I was completely floored when she gave me the total for his glasses, a whopping 198.00. I paid the bill and left, not feeling quite right about it. When I got home I posted my experience on FB and a ton of people responded that I had been scammed! A few moms who have kids with severe vision problems messaged me that a child with a mild prescription for nearsightedness should NEVER be prescribed bifocals and everyone advised that I get my money back and take my son elsewhere.
So the next day I went back to AB to speak with the doctor and cancel the order for his glasses. The receptionist told me that if I arrived at 2:00 the doctor would be available to speak with me about prescribing single vision lenses, rather than bifocals for my son; however when I arrived I was told that the doctor was at lunch. The manager took nearly 15 minutes rummaging through charts trying to find my son's, before I finally pulled out my receipt and gave it to her so she could understand what I was saying. She eventually found his chart and excused herself to the back to speak with the doctor (which was odd, since she told me the doctor wasn't there...). When she came back she said the doctor wanted her to check pricing on anti-fatigue lenses. I waited another 15 minutes while she answered phone calls and made appointments for other customers instead of waiting on me, then she looked up the pricing and informed me that for 200 more I could get anti-fatigue lenses instead of bifocals. I told her absolutely no. I just want my money back. Then she said, "We could just do a pair of readers for him."
Wait...He is NEARSIGHTED, why would he need reading glasses? When I asked her that question she looked at me like a cow looks at a new fence. "Well, it would be best if you ask the doctor, " she responded, "but she's not in, so..."
"I'll just take the refund and get a second opinion elsewhere." I told her.
While I was waiting another 20 minutes for her to fiddle with the computer and figure out how to refund my money to my debit card, I heard a former coworker next to me, purchasing glasses for her 10 year old son. She volunteered that she had just paid 400.00 for a pair of glasses for him and guess what? He "needed" bifocals too! My former coworker gave me the same explanation the doctor had given me for this phenomenon of 10 year old boys with barely a prescription who need bifocals. I told her that I didn't feel my boy needed bifocals and I was taking him elsewhere for a second opinion. As far as I know she paid for the bifocals for her kid...I hope they don't make his vision worse!
The other odd thing...the doctor said that she frequently prescribes bifocals for kids for their first pair of glasses and then switches them to single vision lenses a year later. This makes no sense to me. People normally progress TO bifocals, not FROM them.
I got all my money refunded and let them keep the useless prescription. I am taking my son to an Opthamologist to get a REAL eye exam and the correct prescription for his eyes.
Stay away from this place! It seems like each individual store has come up with its own racket for scamming people.
I have had my glasses for 11 months.. When i take them off my vision is worst. I am goig to sue them as well Dave. I am pissed. Class Action yall.
I bought into the hole 2 pair bull ### went in and the only glasses you can get for that price are little kids, so I had to look around, i'm very picky with choosing glasses, I mean your going to wear them for years make sure you get ones you really like right? I found Ann okay pair id use as a back up and then found these really nice ones, .. but they were 150.00, I finally decided I liked them enough id pay the rediculus amount and be happy with them, because of the cost of them I sprung for the year warrantee. a few days ago I got hit in the face with a stick and they finally broke, mind you I've only had them for5 months, not that long. I go in to get new ones and they say they don't carry that style anymore. what the f***! I hate them for this, it was only five months
I went to America's Best in Oak Lawn, IL for the first time and the staff was indifferent at best. I also felt my exam was a bit rushed. The doctor finished the exam in a couple minutes and told me my eyes were just fine, no abnormalities except that I'm near-sighted. I then asked her, "So you didn't see the stigma in my right eye and the scar tissue in my left eye? Because the guys at Walmart saw those right away." The doctor just paused and said, "Oh, yeah, well what I meant is that nothing has really changed since you've gotten those." How would she know if she's never seen my record before?
Went to have Eye Exam. Was told that if I get Contact Lens exam that I would get it for free if I bought any of their contacts. Was going buy glasses AND contacts. During exam, the doctor told me I had to decide WHAT TYPE OF SOFT CONTACTS I was going to buy BEFORE he would finish exam. What is up with that ? Anyway, after exam I was told that I was informed wrong and that I would have to pay the $84.00 for the exam. All they wanted to do was push the CLUB MEMBERSHIP. I was asked FOUR TIMES if I wanted the CLUB MEMBERSHIP. NO NO NO.
Bottom line, , , , , , I had to pay for the exam (they actually had their security guy come and threaten me as he held his hand on his GUN. When asked for my prescription after paying the $84.0o I was told that it is against their policy to release prescriptions. **** THIS IS AGAINST SOUTH CAROLINA LAW ****. Am now filing small claims suit, filed complaint (many are there) at BBB.org and disputing credit card payment.

Couldn't be that the ad is misleading seeing that so many people assume the same thing. The ad is arranged to make people read only what they do read, so [censor] to your marketing group then, they are the clever persons responsible for getting more people into your business, too bad by misleading advertisements. Don't ever expect the public to read full ads, they are reading tons and choosing from the basic text just as your marketing group has expected them to do.
You should pay more attention to the advertisement. And the only thing that's offered for free is the eye exam when you purchase two pair of glasses. It boils down to paying attention to the ad. And if you can't read the print on the bottom of the screen, then call and ask. You actually believe associates enjoy pissed off customers who misinterpret the ad? 99% of them want the ads to stop too because that's all people come in for. Then get pissed when they can't get that super thin, Transition, no-line bifocal for $69.95. As far as the guy telling counter posters to get a life, obviously my life is listening to people like you ### every day about an ad you should have listened to in the first place. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pORvJOWEFE
I went there today aug 8th 2009. I wanted some glass's, so i picked out 2 pairs that would be 89.99 so i thought. The lady gave me a price of over 349.00 bucks. Then 249.00, i askerd what about the 89.99. She said those are plastic and we wont put them in these. I asked why and she just said we wont. so i walked out and they called me and said i didnt pay. I told the lady i wanted the 89.99 and they wouldnt do that. She then said they would i just paid the 45.00 bucks and forgot them. all they do is try to upsale y0u even when you dont what those.

I went to the MCDONOUGH, Ga. location on 4/14/11 and the staff was very unprofessional. I wanted to change my eyes glass order. The staff became upset and now everybody customer in their knew why I was their. One customer joined in on the discussion. I asked do you have a Hippa policy in placed and they stated yes but it was obvious it was not being followed. Staff shouted my refund amount across the room for another worker on another computer to do the credit. Long as I was purchasing their was not a problem but change your mind their is drama. I was thinking surely I am not he first person to change my order. I called on 4/28/11 to inquire about the status of my eyeglasses. The worker stated they were completed on 4/25/11 and they are being shipped from the lab. I asked were are the labs she stated they have two labs in foreign countries. When I see the company name you think American made. I will never return to this store to unknowingly support foreign companies. We desperately need the jobs in the U.S. I am sure we have the knowledge and capability to cut some plastic to put in lens.
