I have been an Amerigas customer since 2006.
I have been trying for over a year to have the Amerigas tank moved 10 feet and hooked up to our new home on same lot.
I started with website feedback. This was never answered, apparently no one is checking the website feedback.
I called the number on the website and was connected to their overseas call center and was told that they didn't have anyone who could do the hookup. I opted to try again later, I had filled the tank right before the new home was completed and didn't want to lose several hundred dollars' worth of propane.
I tried again on a second occasion and was told again that they didn't have anyone who could hook the tank up. At that point we had just been through a storm which had 100 mph straight line winds, and wanted to keep the tank for a generator we were purchasing.
We installed the generator and purchased a new tank locally due to Amerigas's lack of response.
The new tank is further from the house, so I decided to try one last time to get it hooked up or cancel my service.
To my surprise, I was able to get an appointment in February this year.
The tech arrived without trencher, so the service call could not be completed.
After rescheduling and several delays due to weather, I got a second tech on-site last week. He called ahead and I told him that I thought the ground was too soft, but he wanted to come out to see the area for himself. He was not given proper instructions with the order, and didn't know when he arrived that he needed to move a tank and trench for a line. Apparently the first tech had made no notes on the call.
We checked the area where the tank is located felt that the ground is too soft for the job, so he left me his number so that I could call him directly now that he understands the job and can bring the proper equipment. I do not know if he brought a trencher.
Tonight I checked my email and found a bill for $340.11.
The tank is still not connected, and I've had two technicians visit with nothing changed.
This is the worst customer service I have ever received from a company.
Claimed loss: Full tank of propane sitting just outside my house I can't use. Paying tank lease for over a year for unusable tank.
Desired outcome: I need to speak to someone who can help resolve the issue or arrange to pick up the tank and compensate me for the propane in it.
