holding my replacement money order
On 5/23/16 I purchased a money order for $100.00 for our family reunion. I addressed the money order to the reunion agent Deonta Dean and mailed it to his address the next day. He informed me about two weeks later that he never received the letter with the money order in the mail. I then went online and found Amscot # and called them to see if the money order had been cashed, they said they had no record of it being cashed. I called again the next week and it still not had been cashed. Amscot customer service informed me that they would refund my money if I would go online and get their claim form and send them a $12.00 processing fee. I got a new money order from Amscot and the claim form and mailed it to them on 6/13/16. A few week after that I called them again and spoke to someone in the money order dept. and she informed me that it would take 30 days to process my claim. I then called back a few week later and then they tell me that it could take 30 to 40 days, even 60 days. I can't understand why it is taking them so long to refund my $100.00, each time I call, they tell me the same thing. As this point I do not believe them, I think they are just holding my money, another Big Corporation taking advantage of the small guy.
amscot violating customers rights to personal privacy intrusive and unethical conditions
On April 12 2016 visited Amscot Money Superstore at 9620 sw Coral Way Miami Fl 33165. to claim a western union money transfer of under $100 I had the information from sender with transaction id# the store clerk Alexandra first said i needed to register as a client i found that odd that they require i be a client like a walk in customer is not enough? but turned out i had been there once before and i allready was from months earlier, she pointed out the proper Western Union form i filled out with all the requested info on the form and handed it to her with my drivers license, she asked me a bunch of personal questions about myself and the sender that i felt were invasive and irrelevant to the transaccion among them she asked me where was the money sent from? i answered here locally Miami no actually Homestead why? (she replied Miami is good enough) i figured she knew better than me from what location sender used to send money so i was being put to a test like i am a suspect and i had to proof i didn't steal it who sent it? the name is on the form then she asked :what is the money for? I said i know i dont have to answer any of these questions for this transaccion right? she asked me again (what is the money for?) i was appalled i couldnt believe the personal intrusion of the questions at that moment out of frustration i answered even if it was for drugs so what i really dont feel i need to answer any of that. she replied we can't process your transaction. I asked for what reason and she would not respond she was writing notes on the computer probably about me on whatever file they have of me, I requested to speak to the manager and the other clerk a young man that was standing near bye listening responded :i am the manager (i suspected he was lying and later found he was) i asked him to please give me a reason for not being able to process my Western Union money transfer and if possible in writing specifying the transaccion id# he replied i cant do that said call this 800 # pointed to it on window and walked away.
I called Amscot number he pointed to [protected] i spoke to sherri and explained the situation and expressed that i felt that the transaction had not been processed because i refused to answer questions that shouldn't of been asked in the first place. so i asked what is the managers name in that store she would only provide a first name of Jonathon i mentioned to her that Edgar identified himself as the manager and asked her if it was customary for employees to represent themselves as managers, she said Edgar was not the manager but perhaps was in charge,
Western Union is one of the reasons customers visit business's like Amscot The Moneystore, Western Union should review the abusive policies of Amscot and take some action into this matter so that Western Union customers don't fall into the Amscot unscrupulous invasive tactics that Amscot is practicing.
Just for the record later that day i went to Publix Supermarket with the same Western Union transaction presented it to the cashier with my identification and that was all she needed no questions asked. Now i know bettter than to step inside an Amscot Money Superstore
I wanted to buy a money order for $1000.00 to pay my rent. I was asked a bunch of intrusive questions.
First "Are you currently working?"
I thought it was none of her business and said "No"
She then asked "If you are not working, where did you get the fund for the money order?"
I told her, "I pulled it out of my mattress, what is it any of your business?"
She then asked "What are going to use the money order for, who are you sending it to?"
I then said "None of this is your business, just give me the [censored]ing money order".
She said if I don't answer her questions, she would not give me the money order or my $1000.00 back.
I was going to escalate the situation, and have a police officer show up, but I just fed her some [censored] answer and got out of there.
When I got home I called AMSCOT HQ to ask them about their policies,
THEY would not answer MY questions
They kept repeating "We are a financial institution." , You can read our privacy policy online or at the store. Their privacy policy mentions nothing about prying into MY privacy.
DO NOT USE AMSCOT FOR ANYTHING if you don't want the Stasi for the FBI, CIA IRD, NSA prying into your business for buying a simple money order. Go to 7Eleven . They don't ask for ID or pry into your personal life, and you can get a hotdog while you are there.
I was also treated like a criminal for trying to get a money order over $1000. Which they had to give me THREE money orders to get the amount I wanted. Clearwater FL gulf to bay location I will NEVER GO TO AMSCOT AGAIN. I will find other means. When I questioned why they were asking me all these questions a manager inserted herself which only upset me even more...actually I wasn't upset UNTIL the manager interjected herself. I did not ASK for a manager I simply was asking intelligent questions. Now I know, if you're smart don't go to Amscot.
amscot money card
I got one of the amscot money cards and put $900 on it so I could buy plane tickets to go see some family. You are required to set up an account in order to keep up with your balance. I asked the lady when I got it if there were any fees associated with this card, before I agreed to get it. I was told no. I asked what about taking money out at an atm. She told me as long as I used the one in their stores I should be fine. So I go to register to keep track of my account on Amscot.net I go through the whole process of setting it up. They require you to log in afterwards. Guess what?! It doesn't work. I've had to reset my password 10-15 times and call them 5-6 times just to get in. Each time you have to speak to an actual person they charge you .75. Then when you do actually go to check your balance at the atm in their stores they charge you 2.50. Then there are monthly fees it your balance drops below a certain amount. IT"S BULL! IT's the biggest money making scam i've seen in a while. I JUST went through the process of trying to log in to see if maybe it was just the site. Nope! My account is now frozen, after entering my login information 10 times. The same log in information I just changed it to. RIDICULOUS! save your hard earned money.. go get one of those dot cards at walmart they are totally free!

If a customer owes money, an employee is required to seize those funds when appropriate, often without the customer’s knowledge beforehand. Time to time, customers make death threats against you for taking their money.
They are required to have cell phones and cars. The company does hire people who make the free choice to smoke cigarettes. They must have an open availability and are not permitted to have a second job.They are required to be able to work up to 26 miles from their home. Hygenie and personal appearance are closely monitored, and discussed with employees if there is a problem with hair style, hair color, breath, tattoos (cannot be visible), no colognes or perfumes, weight loss or gain, overall health or decision to see a doctor, variations on uniform, name badge, jewelry, etc.

money orders
My husband and I bought two money orders over 2 months ago, and they were lost. We filled out the form to track them and replace them but after 50 days we did not receive them back so my husband contacted them 3 weeks ago and the person he spoke to said that one money order was still okay and that a new one will be sent to our house in a few days, and that they were still checking on the other money order. They told my husband to call back and it has been three weeks and we still have not received the money order, and he will be calling today since we have not got the money order and to see why and what is going on with the other money order. We are very unsatisfied with amscot and will be canceling our direct deposit through them and will never use them again after this.

bill pay mistake
In June 2012 we went and paid our electric bill at Amscot - as usual. In early July I came home from work with my one year old to discover we had no electric! I pulled the receipt and called the electric company only to be told my receipt number had not been applied to my account by Amscot. Unbelievable! An hour and a half later, plus gas, and everything else my significant other and I ran all over town getting Amscot to fix their mistake. We were told they would take care of the reconnect and late fees associated with their mess up. Today I got my next power bill and guess what? They didn't! So I have now not only paid Amscot to process their screw up, wasted an entire evening I could have spent with my family, lost a refrigerator worth of groceries, wasted gas, and felt like a horrible mother but I now owe a total of $55 to the electric company because Amscot put my payment on the wrong account and let my electric get turned off. I should be grateful that they at least corrected my payment which was a lot more than $55, right? Wrong. Screw you, Amscot.

I felt that I was robbed and could not do anything about it
I went into the Amscott on Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando. My Cashier check was $2000.00. Brian the cashier refuse to give it back. I then ask Brian to give me back my check on many occasions, He refused each time. His supervisor said once we give the check they can not give us the check back. I said again give back my check and I take some place to cash it again they did give us our check. You have not cashed the check why can you give it to me. The supervisor with a negative attitude at this pointed to a sticker and said call the corporate. I and tire of you asking for your check. They took a told of $336 out my check. I also notice a young woman next to me camplaining about a check they were to hold until that day..but then sent to the bank on Friday..again another person asking for their check back and Amscott refusing to give theie checks back. I felt that I was robbed and could not do anything about it. I wonder if this a common practice this company?
If you asked for the check cashing fee for a check amount and think that it is too high you do have the right legally to go elsewhere to cash your check. If this was the case, what they did was illegal and you should take this matter to court even if you took the rest of the money. Do not be afraid to go before a Judge yourself without a Lawyer and tell what happened to you. Start with the District Attorney's Office and file a complaint.

amsot send my taxes back
I filed taxes with my husband. He fied head of household. Amscot send back our check because his name is not o my account. When I ask why wasnt I notfy that money was been put I my account. I couldnt get a straight answer. When I ask for a supervisor I was told there no way of contacting one and I was put on hold for hours and no one came to the line. I ask when I first got the card will there be a problem with puti my husband checks on the card I was told no problem thats why I bought the card I just move to flordia and need quick card to recieve our money on. They should make it clear you can not put your spouse monry in your account if there was a problem with the money I should have been called. I cash my daughter check there there should be a problem with that. But thats not a problem because is a child ad I had no id to show but the check got cash. bill payment of child support
I am a regular customer at the Amscot in Sebring, Fl and I decided to use this establishment as a way to pay my child support which was in the sum of $500. I had signed a contract to pay the sum by Dec. 17th 2010. I am a drywall man and it took up until two days before the due date for me to have all the money in full. I was given the option to use their bill payment to get this into child support before the deadline.
I was at work and so my girlfriend offered to send off the money so that I would be on time with the payment. She double checked to make sure she had everything correct and we have receipts, but the teller made a mistake and sent it to my other daughters mother. The wrong account which was clearly stated on the coupon. Now I am negligent and I have broken a contract due to the fault of an employee for Amscot. I understand that people are not robots and make mistakes, but this is a massive mistake.
I am waiting for a phone call from a representative of Amscot in the morning. I am worried that they will try to weasel their way out of the blame. Any help out there?
On the commercial for a cash advance they don't tell you you need an id plus they do a credit check. The commercial states bank statement and pay stub is all you need. I walked miles to try and get a cash advance and was so ticked off that I had a seizure in their business about two weeks ago.
putting money on prepaid card
I obtained a prepaid credit card because if emergencies come up they are needed. What I went through making a deposit to the card was complete hell. They questioned every use and today I had to show bank statements and legal documents/trust documents and paperwork showing I had a death in the family to prove why I had money in my bank account. It was very insulting. I had my driver's license, my card, my pay stub and even after looking at the trust paperwork and legal documents they still had the balls to ask how I was related to my great aunt who passed away. So I also showed them my stepmother's death notice too as I am an heir. By the time I left the poor woman was apologizing for what the main office was making her do. I have one bill to pay with this card then no more with Amscot. I will pay for money orders and go through other currency companies.

Do not use billing service! They hold your money and pay weeks latter. Use a stamp, it is much cheaper and will post to your account faster. Today money is transferd at the speed of light. But they tell you 3 days! They can't even do that!

Good thing I didn't let them do our taxes this year! Just found out that they put the wrong amount of Fed. taxes withheld in our 2007 return and got a letter from the IRS telling us that we owe them over $2000 from their mistake of writing in the wrong numbers. We just filed bankrupcy and I don't think we can get it taken care of with our Chapter 7. Go over your return on the screen no matter how long it takes!

I lost my first card, then called in for another they charged me $9.95 without telling me;I never recieved the card.Next, they sent me another card, charging me $9.95 without telling me, and now Im showing $0 balance.
Well I have great news!. I have had an Amscot card for over 5 years. They make you aware of the fees involved. I have never had any difficulties getting in touch with any of the representatives and they are always helpful. You just need to listen closely. I use it for direct deposit and they reimbursed the 3.95 fee every month as long as I have direct deposit.
Regarding the money orders, they have a process to follow but they will take care of you and return your money. You just need to be patient and explain to the Landlord about your situation because it is not Amscot fault. My experience with Amcot have been great!
I feel that amscot is worse than the banks in many ways, the thing i have also noticed is
Trying to use the amscot web site to check yohr transactiin history is virtually impossible, it never lets me log in all the way stating the web site may be down. To.make matters worse, you can call and listen to your transactions but cant look for a spacific trans. Or even skip through the history quickly you have to listen to them in order newest to oldest. And if you happen to be a second late in hitting the one button t o proceed to transactions it stops and brings you out of the menu causing you to have to restart from the newest... Amscot can be good for free money orders, but the amscot pre-paid card is really a rip-off, it's explained nicely but they don't tell you that you have to pay $3.95 a month, plus every time you use your amscot card, you get charged .95 cents for certain transactions, .75 cents for use as a debit card, .50 cents to talk to support, WTF? In 3 days Amscot made over $7.00 of my money. I have 3.00 left but I have to keep in mind if I want to buy something it has to be for $2.25 because Amscot eats .75 cents when you use it. This is a really big concern, I wish 20/20 was on it. I won't use it anymore, I spend more on Amscot bullcrap charges.

My car was broken into and my purse wa stolen with all my important info document credit card and everything else that you think someone would keep in their purse. I even have the amscot rep that made the money order for me vouch taht i purchsed the money order and when i cam in the next morning him and his supervisor seen where my whole back window was knocked out and they were like wow! thats crazy. If anyone is thinking about doing theres taxes or has been doing there taxes stop, and go to some place else, I have been doing my taxes with Amscot for 4 years and none of my information had changed and they (amscot tax preparer made a mistake and now 2 years later i get a letter from the IRS saying I owe almost $4, ooo. I talked to amscot about it and they said they will not pay any of it. I'm Extremely pissed, and the company didnt say sorry, was very rude, and had no remorse what so ever. We have court appointed custody of our neice and nephew and chase sighted questionable relationship as the reason they denied us . They were listed on previous returns through amscot the same way and it was NOT a problem! Buyers beware If you go to Amscot to file your taxes. First I want to say I have had my taxes done two years in a row by Amscot and this year I will be my last and if you have had your taxes done my them I earge you to find someone else if you are expecting to get an RAL from them. My name is Katina F. I went to Amscot to file my taxes I applied for an RAL (rapid antisipation Loan). Same as I did last year. I was told I was denied when I called the Amscot customer service person told me to call the bank (Chase) when I called chase they told me that I was denied becouse my adjusted gross income and my EIC (earned income credit) was in high risk for being denied by the IRS due to fraud. This is bull it was not like I did the taxes myself and then asked Chase to give me a loan I was at Amscot and they did the taxes. So I wanted to know what was the problem with my EIC becouse my tax return was about the same as last year with the exception of the extra money for the increase this year that caused your taxes to be about $400 higher. This is misleading becouse the people that do the RAL are people that have high EIC. When I inquired more they (Chase) stated (Customer service rep Samuel and Nancy of chase )that they Chase do not want ALL TYPES of business ( I have to wonder what type of business are they talking about? BLACK people business, WOMEN business, PEOPLE with CHILDREN business what does this mean) and that since I was a new customer to Chase I was being denied. I explain that this was the not my first time with Amscot and it is not my fault that Amscot decided to use Chase this year and should not be a consideration for the RAL. I explained to them that most of Amscot clients are going to be new to Chase about at least 95% of Amscot customers becouse this year Amscot decided to switch they banks that process the RAL to Chase this year. Amscot never told me that I was going to be denied for this reason I feel that Amscot took my money and knew that I was not going to be eligible I had to pay them to do my taxes $309 and then now have to pay Chase $35 just to print a check for me once the IRS send my money to them. They even call this a bonus. Where is the bonus? How is it a bonus when I have to pay you when I asked for the RAL not a bonus program. Why should I pay Amscott or Chase when I could have done the my taxes on my own for FREE on the IRS website.

Amscot customers beware!
I did a pay day loan with this amscot and was ripped off. I wrote a check for 331.00 and went to pay back the loan. The teller tells me i have to pay back 441.00 and here my check was for 331.00. I was told it was the tellers error who put that amount into the computer system although what they gave me was 331.00 and for signing a legal document although i didn't receive 441.00 i have to pay that back. I was robbed for an extra 141.00 in my bank account, they did an electronic fund on my account changing my pay day loan amount on their own. I was told by wachovia bank that with an ach transaction amscot can take out whatever amount they want! That is illegal... So beware of amscot pay day loans! I'm a victim of amscot fraud. Read the fine print! It's your money that may be taken, the check you write does not matter!

My name is Erica Ellis and I need an important issue resolved immediately.
I was at my local Amscot branch (Brandon, Fl.) this afternoon getting a money order for rent.
The experience was unusual and appalling.
I've been going to this Amscot for a long time- to get the same money order for the same rent payment for years...but this has never happened! Until today, each visit was pleasant with excellent service, hence why I returned for other bill payments, cashing checks, etc.
Unfortunately today's visit will cost me 60.00.
Mitzi was the customer service rep who handled my money order. I'm sure Mitzi had no intentions of causing harm, however a series of mistakes lead to me now owing 60.00.
I came in at 5:40 pm (as usual), which normally takes 3-5 minutes to get a simple money order. I ended up leaving at exactly 6:01 pm.
Firstly, every window was taken, except a few on one side of the building. There were 3 girls trying to assist all of the customers waiting.
After standing in the center on the room for 5 minutes not being acknowledged, I just chose one of the few open windows.
Suddenly 2 more ladies came from the back room chatting and began standing around...while the other girls were in a panic.
Finally someone came over to my window and said 'we'll be with you shortly'.
Evidently the customers were being assisted out of order, because 2 people started yelling loudly that they 'were skipped' - and then angrily walked out. This was disturbing and created an awkward tension in the room
I stood there patiently and then a lady named
'Mitzie' approached my window. I told her the amount of the money order- she asked me to repeat it twice, because she was looking for paper to write on.
I saw her writing it incorrectly, so I repeated it 2 more times. But this time she couldn't hear me, because she was chatting with another employee. So ...I had to repeat it again. At that time she began counting my money, then asked for my ID. I told her it was in the car and very close. I Left her with the money and went to my car (which was CLOSELY parked right in front of the door).
Literally 30 seconds later: I return to give her my ID and she was already helping another customer! I waited again for her to return to my window and she began counting the money again. THEN she suddenly walked away to answer the phone ...in the middle of my transaction, as if I had become invisible. So now she's chatting with a lady on the phone, and I finally hear her say 'ok we'll see you tomorrow'. NOW she comes over and counts the money again.
By this time, it's been 15 minutes and I knew (at the rate this was going), I wouldn't make it back to pay rent by 6pm. They do grace you a few minutes-if you walk in by 6:05. However, this experience truly took me by surprise and that 21 MINUTES will cost ME 60.00. Despite the fact that I only live 4 minutes from this Amscot location, when I arrived to see if anyone was still at the leasing office... it was empty.
I'd like to let you know that I'm an understanding person and my patients is FAR above average. However, this Amscot visit left me feeling like I was completely disrespected and unappreciated as a customer. I've frequented Amscot for years (also at the bloomingdale & Hwy 60 locations), and have never witnessed this kind of customer disregard. There was no apology, just an 'eye roll' and I never once said anything negative.
I've always enjoyed utilizing your services to cash checks, pay numerous bills, etc. but I'm heavily considering my other options at this point.
Maybe Mitzie is new or training, etc. But even still, one should not be handling others finances (aka life)- unless fully trained and capable. In addition to this, there was NO excuse for the lack of focus with my 1020.00 in her hand... or the general behavioral flippancy of staff.
Given that it was a 'high volume' moment, I fully understand a business such as Amscot cannot predict these things. But having girls in the back during such chaos seems rather irresponsible.
I'm bringing this to your attention so that hopefully this won't happen to anyone else, AND I'd like to know how you intend on resolving said issue.
