Apartment List is a scammer
Apartment List is a scammer. Don't give them any info, don't engage with them.
Fraudulant
Fraudulant. They post homes for sale as rentals. Scammers try to lure you for your information. No vetting system.
This site stinks of spam
This site stinks of spam. I made many calls and sent inquiries through messages, but got no response. Shame on you and all the companies who work with you. You're terrible.
They spam you with messages
They spam you with messages. You can unsubscribe from their emails but the link to deactivate your entire account don't work. So you're just stuck with an account on a terrible website.
Apartment List is a SCAM!
Apartment List is a SCAM! I found out that the apartment I was checking for a client is actually an Airbnb. I spoke to the real owner of the property, and they didn't know that their place was listed on Apartmentlist.com. They are currently investigating the matter.
Scam. They not honest
Scam. They not honest. If you see something listed that might suit your family's needs, it not available, or price not accurate. Don't waste time. Fill tank with fuel and do own legwork. Nothing more than click bait. There ZERO integrity and no such thing as valid lead or quote. Too bad there no such thing as accountability.
apartmentlist.com has sent me many listings of homes using clickbait techniques
apartmentlist.com has sent me many listings of homes using clickbait techniques. They've advertised listings that are cheap to make you call the leasing agent, but then you find out that the listing is actually a few hundred dollars more than what was advertised on apartmentlist.com. This website is a total scam that makes money by getting you to visit it through search engines, which shows lots of people using it, but they use false advertised prices.
I tried Apartment List to find an apartment
I tried Apartment List to find an apartment. I found one, so I don't need their price updates or suggestions anymore. But they keep emailing me with new apartment options. I unsubscribed many times and even changed my email, but they won't stop messaging me. It's not outside companies, it's them. I replied "stop" to some emails, but it's been a few business days and nothing has changed.
I tried to contact this company 'cause they got someone scamming folks
I tried to contact this company 'cause they got someone scamming folks. I hit up this person who had a place for rent in *** in *** and I almost sent 'em $1500 for a deposit before I thought, "Hold up, better make sure they actually own the crib they're renting out." So I asked 'em for the parcel number to check it on *** records, but they never hit me back. A week or so later, I found the same exact info, just different name and new state/city. Everything else was the same. This site needs to be shut down if they can't protect renters better than that.
I only gave Apartment List a 1-star rating because they forced me to choose a star
I only gave Apartment List a 1-star rating because they forced me to choose a star. Honestly, they deserve a "0 out of 5" rating. They gather information from other sources and display apartment complexes on their website, but the phone numbers they provide are fake. You can't even find these numbers on Google. It might be legal, but it's definitely not ethical. The photos they use seem to be recently taken, but there's no copyright or verification to prove their authenticity. On top of that, they ask potential clients a bunch of questions and then ask for their contact information, including their phone number, just to see the search results. It's a terrible way to treat potential customers and it takes business away from legitimate marketing companies.
This is the worst!
This is the worst! It's July 4th weekend and I really need an apartment. I found this person named Jem who said she'd be happy to set up a visit to a place because all the apartments were going like hotcakes. I agreed, and she said she had me penciled in for July 4th at 2:30. Desperate to find a home for my daughter and me, I agreed to meet. I just drove for 45 minutes to see the apartment complex and when I got there, the door was locked tight because they were closed for the holidays. Don't even bother using this app to find a place. The pictures of the complex were nothing like the real deal, and they straight-up lied about the tour meeting. It ruined my whole holiday, and I had to cancel plans with my family and friends just so I could find a place to live. Seriously, don't waste your time with this site. It's the worst.
Apartment List is a rental website that I used when I needed to find a new place to live
Apartment List is a rental website that I used when I needed to find a new place to live. I found a few rentals in my area and tried to schedule tours, but unfortunately, I never heard back from any of the owners. Despite this, I decided to at least drive by and take a look at the rental spaces from the street. However, all five of the places I saw seemed to have long-term residents who had no plans of moving out. It was frustrating to discover that none of the rentals were actually available for rent. It felt like a big waste of my time and effort.
There was one instance where I received a text asking me to check out their current rentals, but when I visited the website, it redirected me to Xfinity.com. It was confusing and misleading. In other cases, it seemed like a bait-and-switch situation. Even though I made appointments for tours, none of the owners ever contacted me, despite being notified of my interest.
Another Fradulentlent Rental Listing
Another Fradulentlent Rental Listing. What the Apartment list says for previous Fraudulent listings in their response is all BS. See 2nd paragraph below. This happens to us as well. All affected people need to work on a class action lawsuit to end this fraudulent rental listings.
Apartment List Response 05/09/2022 Hi ***,We are so sorry that you encountered a scam on our site. We take fraudulent listings very seriously at Apartment List which is why we partner directly with the majority of the properties we have listed on our platform. That said, we do partner with data providers for smaller units across the country. While we do perform basic data validation for these properties, we rely on those partners to verify the credibility of their listings. We understand the emotional and financial toll a scam can have on a person and take all reports of scams seriously. We are truly sorry you had this experience. If you would like to provide us with additional details or feedback
Use a realtor!
Use a realtor! It's a sad time, but you can't trust people these days and need a licensed realtor to ensure you don't get scammed. This company is a scam based on traffic. They advertise false prices just to have people use them and send constant emails and listings that are inaccurate at best. THERE IS NO VETTING to ensure their clients' safety. Anyone can manipulate their system and post a property with minimal details. I lost $2600 trying to rent a property listed on their website which they have now taken down (probably because of reports of fraud). The worst part is the emotional toll on my wife and two young children. I feel completely duped and inept as a leader of my family. I contacted the local authorities and they, and one of the property's neighbors, confirmed this had happened to at least six other people at the exact same property. Each arrived within the last four days. Apartmentlist.com should be ashamed of their business practices because they would rather open up people to scams than do the basic level of work people assume any decent company would perform.

I downloaded the Apartment List app and paid the $*** fee for the application. I texted today and received a response from someone named ***. Surprisingly, his name was not listed on the property. He mentioned that it was under his attorney's name, but then he provided another name that was also not listed. I want my $*** refunded and my information removed from their records.

We looked up Apartment List and found that the website is receiving a high amount of traffic. This could be a sign of a popular and trustworthy website, but it is still important to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of the site before sharing any personal or financial information
However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- While Apartment List has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. As a result, only 0% of 7 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
- Website's registrar is popular among scammers, it means that a significant number of scammers have used that registrar to register domain names for their fraudulent websites. This can indicate that the registrar has lax verification processes, making it easier for scammers to register domains without providing accurate information.
I listed my place for rent on Zillow on May 30, 2022, asking for $1700 per month
I listed my place for rent on Zillow on May 30, 2022, asking for $1700 per month. To my surprise, apartmentlist.com took the pictures I uploaded on Zillow and put them on their website, advertising a monthly rent of $1000. I had no idea they did this and never gave them permission. On June 1, 2022, I had at least 5 people come to my door, claiming they had paid a security deposit and first month's rent through apartmentlist.com. The contact number displayed on their website was ***. Right now, there are people across the street from my house, crying because they lost their savings. You can find the ad at https://www.apartmentlist.com//enterprise/102-***-***--36330. My heart goes out to these people. It's hard to believe that this company has an A+ rating despite numerous complaints about the same issue over the years. It's clear that they haven't done any proper checks to verify ownership of the properties they list.
I'm a South American real estate broker
I'm a South American broker. License # 12345. On 9 Apr 2021, I posted a rental on the local board Mls. The property's address is 123 Main St. The home was listed for $2,350 per month. On 21 May , the MLS status changed from ACTIVE, PENDING to RENTED or closed sale. Since then, I've received at least three phone calls or emails a day from potential renters who want to lease the home. Some of these eager individuals even show up at the home and bother the new renters, asking for leasing information or access to the property. Through my research, I discovered that an online company called ApartmentList.com has continued to list my property as an ACTIVE listing on the market. I've tried contacting ApartmentList.com through telephone and email, but I haven't received any replies. It's unethical for ApartmentList.com to keep this listing up as available for rent when the property was taken off the market 77 days ago.
I've asked many times to stop getting marketing emails
I've asked many times to stop getting marketing emails. I've clicked the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of those emails and contacted the company through their website to remove my email, but I still get marketing emails. Another problem is that even if the "unsubscribe" link worked, it takes too long, like 10 business days, to be removed from the mailing list. That's bad for business and customer service. Usually, when I click an unsubscribe link, I'm immediately removed from the list. This is important for businesses nowadays. Apartment List needs to improve their process to remove email addresses from the list or just admit that they want to keep sending "free advertising" for another 10 business days. Despite all this, I've asked multiple times to stop getting Apartment List emails for weeks, maybe even longer than a month, and I still get marketing emails. Just so you know, I signed up on this website when I was looking for a new apartment - that's what this website is for. I signed a lease over a month ago, so my apartment search has been over for a long time. This shows how long I've been trying to be removed from the mailing list.
In May 2022, I was lookin for a new place for me and my kids on apartmentlist.com
In May 2022, I was lookin for a new place for me and my kids on apartmentlist.com. Luckily, I found a listing in the same area I was living in at the time for a good price at *** in ***. I messaged the person who listed it and got a quick response. We texted and talked on the phone, and I was able to visit the property within an hour of responding to the listing. The place had 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and after the tour, we talked about the lease terms. On May 31st, I paid $3151 for the first and last month's rent and the application fee. The next day, June 1st, they asked for a $1,500 security deposit, and I happily paid it to secure the place. We set up multiple dates for me to meet the property manager and get the lease and keys, but they kept canceling with different excuses. After the third time, I asked for a refund of $4651, minus the $75 application fee, because of their unprofessional behavior. I tried for almost a week to get my refund, but no luck. Apartments.com didn't do much to help, just said sorry and took down the listing. I've been talking to the person who said they were the lender, but I still haven't gotten my money back. They even tried to take an extra $4,700 from my account, causing insufficient funds charges. I'm tired and want apartments.com to give me my money back and be more careful about who they let list on their site.
