I've been paying DirecTV their highest priced Protection Plan because it supposedly covered ALL entertainment system components-laptops, iPads, and most important, Televisions! (of course all DirecTV leased equipment too; I both pay monthly to lease the old DVR, Genie Remote players AND I pay to protect them!).
Since 2018, Ive had one laptop claim, and two ipad claims for cracked screens. $25.98 a month for FIVE YEARS. Oh, and they charge a deductible for each item repaired/replaced. So DirecTV has been paid over $2500. in lease fees and extended coverage insurance.
Now, my 55" TV was damaged by us dropping it while relocating the TV from one room to another.
And the claim I filed was immediately denied because they say TVs aren't covered!
I found no less than 7 different places where DirecTV contract 'learn more' pages online that state the plan I pay for DOES include TVs as well as accidental handling damage (they call it ADHD, and charge you even more for this 'special' coverage!.
But no, the claims supervisor I finally spoke to said-after exactly one hour on the phone with Asurion. He told me I'd need to take it up with the Asurion Legal Department, and when I asked how I contact them, he starts rattling off a mile-long address as fast as he could talk, where I have to MAIL a claim! And no, they do not have a form with which to file a claim by mail!
When I asked him to slow down, start over, then finally asked for them to email me the contact information for the legal dept, I was promised an email...that was two days ago, and still no email.
Why not just call them back?
I had a cracked ipad screen three weeks ago, and that claim was also denied immediately. So I had to call...that call lasted 50 minutes...the call two days ago about the TV lasted OVER AN HOUR!
Photos will be provided if asked. Details can be seen in my claim started
Desired outcome: Send me the promised email with the Asurion LLC Legal Dept email address. OR do what you promised-in writing, five years ago, and even today online, and replace the TV!
