company overcharged me
Avast supplies/supports antivirus software for computers. I made big mistake of purchase two year auto renewal. A few days ago, I checked my bank account and saw 3 debits, one for twice renewal price, and two debits less than $50. I called avast and was on phone two hours before tech said I need to call partner co. , nexway. Was on phone another hour before tech said I need to fill out website form called ticked. Filled out ticket to cancel subscription and refund renewal and two other debits. Nexway denied all debits despite my screen shots. I called bank to cancel/replace debit card. Nexway refunded only the renewal auto but I saw avast autodebited and overcharged my debit card before it was cancelled! Plan to file lawsuit, avast messed with the wrong woman!
license invalid or banned
Do not buy avast. Once you pay, they do not help you or care about your problems. All they want to do is get into your computer. The tech support on the phone and via email are rude and incompetent. I will never buy or recommend their product again. It is a waste of money. They will also automatically sign you up for auto - renewal. I cancelled my credit card so they couldn't auto - renew when the time comes. Do not trust them. They do not know what they are doing. Oh, and it takes days for you to even hear from tech support if you email, then they will just reply with something that doesn't make any sense or have anything to do with your issue. If you call all they say is i need access to your computer. Just read all of the complaints about them and that should give you enough information to buy / use a different company's product.

I have been charged $39.95 twice for the same service, cleaning up error on a computer, but the computer has not been cleaned up, and I continue to receive a "pop-up" on my computer screen telling me to subcribe to this computer error service.
I agree with the comments about Avast total support.
If you call and ask for help the tactics are used to frighten you into purchasing an expensive support contract. The type of tactic used is described in this article http://www.sitepronews.com/2015/03/13/bogus-tech-support-companies-targeted-ftc/
a quote from the article::
"The salesperson would then launch into a scripted sales pitch while showing images of standard Windows screens (such as the Windows Event Viewer), citing them as proof that the computer is significantly damaged. After convincing the caller that their computer is in dire shape, the salesperson would proceed to pitch them security software " (in this case, to pitch the expensive Total Support contract)
As described in the article, in my situation I was shown an event log that showed a failure of a windows update and told my computer security was SEVERELY COMPROMISED, ...and that I needed to purchase the expensive contract. Well, later I looked at the windows update log and saw that all the failures pointed to on the event log had all successfully installed a day or so later (way before my first contact with avast support)
The FTC needs to investigate the tactics used by AVAST Total support to frighten callers into expensive contracts.
I am very disappointed with Avast. I cannot continue to use the services of a company that uses this type of deceptive technique to scare people into purchasing support contracts.
I have purchased Avast Internet Security about 4 months ago. In addition I have also paid for a full year of Avast Total Support, for my "peace of mind" . Instead of premium service, I had the worst nightmare possible. The technicians have been rude and incompetent. From one Monday to a Friday on the same week, I have called them 13 times for different issues with the software. The remote sessions lasted between 1.5 hours to 8 hours each and as a result the issues either persisted or had new ones. Their rudeness left me discouraged and my privacy exposed, I have heard them laughing on the phone many times. At a point during a call, one one the representatives in Masachussets, named Mario, just got so rude and ended abruptly ou session, living all progremms and tools behind for me to figure out what to do. Another "playfull" technician, denied his name was "Alejandro" during a remote AND telephone connection...I have experienced a sense of being raped without being able to call for help. Seriously!...I couldn't even believe their answers, they were opening very personal files on my computer and passing them from one representative, in a link, to the next technician, and then to ALL OF THEM, but denying access to myself... At a point I started to take screenshots and the technician freaking out, made my screen turn black leaving me unable to restart my windows, not even on safe mode. Is this what I paid for? Is anyone reading this? I have been contacted yesterday by Total Support after a month from the related events, they just agreed with me on everything I said and apologize. I asked for a refund and it was denied. Instead, they offered another remote session. I did not get the joke, Michael. Or however your name is. I want Justice, HELP PLEASE!
I purchased this product...will not connect to download. Want my money back
billing
I have been using Avast secure line for months. I have an automatic renewal. I have been trying to contact them for a week. It says my e-mail doesn't exist. I tried to set up a new account and did not receive an e-mail confirming the new account. Finally I get a response to a new e-mail address that they received my request. The e-mail was sent to a new account. They didn't acknowledge it was a new account. They have my regular e-mail address listed in the new mail The letter says they will get back to me shortly. That was yesterday. Today I get an e-mail saying they charged me for my Avast secure line. The e-mail today was sent to the address they say doesn't exist.
I've been trying to cancel because my computer is broken. Now I need my money back.
I received a bill for the same product for two different dates. One was correct: DRI*Avast Software placed on 7/07 at $39.99.
The bill registered for 7/04 for $19.99 was incorrect.
Experiencing similar problem. Won't let me cancel auto renewal. When get to manage subscription it takes me to another log in WHY! I am already logged in. Then when i try to log in it says now invalid email? Sent ticket and was told to reinsert license and my product should work now. Did they even read the ticket. Called and talked to technical support who were not helpful and said I needed to submit another ticket. Called to customer service and explained my problem and they said they do nothing with billing and its not there department. Explain tried website and not getting resolved and he said pretty much not my problem. WOW! Report to better bureau and call your credit card and just block them. Horrible company.
I received my expiry alert antivirus protection.
The subscription was charged promptly on my credit card.
It is very serious that it can not contact the company by any means.
Must report as scam?
Will they continue to charge on my card? Should i report the company website as unsafe to buy?
double/triple billing
Avast's add-on for Chrome locked up my computer so I called for support on my paid subscription to Avast. They could not help over the phone, so put me in an online chat for a charge of $109 to which I agreed. They double-billed my credit card and want written document to refund. No documentation, because it was done over the phone. No phone number for billing issues. Called technical support again and the guy told me he could refund my $239 if I paid $179 for a year-long support. Okay. Now I have $419.97 charged to my card by Avast for a problem that they originally created.

Hello, I paid $39.99 to Avast Nexway for internet security. In the past I have used Avast as my internet security. On the bottom right hand corner where the hidden icon button is, there is a red cross on my avast internet security and it says I am unprotected. Is Avast Nexway part of your company or have I been scammed. I have lost all my emails from 2015 due to being hacked, maybe I have no protection, please advise me on this.
vickibiddle@yahoo.com.au
After a year's free trial, I paid - at a reasonable price - for a year's worth of anti-virus AVAST service. I was provided an order reference number, a receipt, download instructions and assurance that the download had gone through. Nevertheless I continued for the next six weeks to receive irritatingly intrusive visual pop-ups accompanied by VOICE telling me I needed to renew. I thought they would eventually disappear. When the warnings became more time sensitive - "Your AVAST becomes inactive in one week." I called them and was referred to a technician. "Mike" told me the problem was in my computer, that the download actually never had worked. Furthermore, my computer was in such bad shape that my personal, local technician could not repair it. ONLY AN AVAST ENGINEER COULD REPAIR MY COMPUTER...at a cost of $169. "IF YOU DON"T REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER SOON, IT WILL DAMAGE NOT ONLY AVAST, BUT ALL YOUR PROGAMS. IT"S URGENT.
I said, "This sounds like a scam." Mike replied, "I'm not trying to sell you anything, but I'm telling you your entire computer system is in danger." I then called my local trusted computer tech guy who re-downloaded the AVAST software. I got an email from AVAST saying all was good, that I just needed to register the product which I did.
been charged twice
Refund may 20th payment. For our antivirus. After I had done it, you had a message on computer saying that it had not been done, for two days it came up saying we would not have cover.. We redid it on may 23rd. Now you have charged us twice, and would like a refund for 29.99. It says we can get fefund for 30 days.

Card has been charged twice. No Help from avast. Confused whether to use service or not. feel not secured.
It happened the same to me, on the 28.12.2012
I paid 19, 99 € for an Upgrade ... and nothing Don't have the anti-virus, no confirmation, nothing.
Exactly the same ...
It's a fraud from somebody
money, and product
Paid for security software for one year, after we had installed it and it was in about 1 month, our system said, we had 9 days before we had to buy again - we finally got in touch with someone at avast telephone number, and the man said he needed to take control of our computer, my husband was at the computer, and when I walked through, I noticed he was copying files, etc. I finally took over the call, he said he needed me to sign into my email - "no" I don't think so. He kept ignoring our questions, very rude, they got that money - but I can assure you they won't get anymore. Horrible company. Rude people - scam artist.

I purchesed one year of avast for $49.99. Near the end of first month I began receiving messages that my trial of avast was running out. Everyday another message until I was down to one day left. I called Avast, told them I did not have a trial, but had paid for a whole year. The person I spoke to said he would investigate, gave me a bunch of nonsense about my computer being severly infected and they could not put avast on until it was cleaned up or my computer would crash, which meant they had to have access to it so they could clean it up for me(with a nice big fat charge of course.) Well, since avast was already on my computer as a trial, what sense did that make? He also warned me not to take the computer to Staples or any other repair place because they wouldn't understand about this and likely ruin my computer. Needless to say I did take it to my local repair shop I have used for years and trusted. They said there was nothing wrong with my computer and indeed it was a scam. They also said avast is operated out of the Ukrain where most of the virses come from any way. They also told me the so called trial of avast hadn't even been working at all, cleaned up a few things, put a good anti-virus service on it and didn't charge me a thing.
Now as for getting my $49.99 back, I'm sure that's not going to happen. Every time I call avast about it, I'm told I have to do this through a web site. Every web site they give me does not exist. Now, since they have my bank account info, I'm considering closing it out and opening a new one . These people are scam artists and not to be trusted.
Hi! I'm so glad I am not alone in the Avast IYOGI issue! This is a HUSTLE! They sell you the product, it stops working, you call technical support, You go through the Budda/Karma experience from HELL! They tell you to calm down, your an irate person who paid good money for a product, and they hold your license hostage! They tell you your computer needs work, and for $169.99 they'll help you! That's per computer! They then tie up your time, a lot of it, take control of your computer, and then hrs later, get it working, then the $169.99 pitch! Buy your internet security from the store, get a CD. Don't do the IYOGI game, it's a hustle to get you to hire them for online technical support. Good luck everyone! And good Karma to you!
well then its a good thing that i didnt buy it, i just have the free offer, and espcially since they are partnered with IYOGI! HORRORIBLE COMPANY!
Agree that this is a corrupt company. We purchased the Platinum Security Suite from them on July 12, 2010 at 2:35 pm for $69.95 for one year's service. Today, a notice popped up on the screen of the laptop in question that there was only 18 days remaining. Today is January 14, 2011. I called their technical support number, which was [protected]. The call went to India. Their company is located in Czech Republic. They requested remote access and were unable to resolve the problem. They asked for proof of purchase and then told us there was no such proof in their system. I then contacted the reseller, Digital River in Minnesota and the call was transferred automatically to The Philippines where the call was unresolved as their records were also reported to be void of the transaction. The proof of purchase, which they cannot delete is from U.S. Bank. However, here is the problem, there is no U. S. agent for service for legal process. To sue them in small claims court, I have to hire a process server. The filing fee and cost of service are awardable in small claims court but there is no way to bring them to court except in La Hague Netherlands, place I would not have standing since the court primarily hears matters of significance, or the Czech Republic in front of a kangaroo legal system. The sole recourse is the Federal Trade Commission which has a very poor record of resolution with offshore companies. Therefore I must sue the U.S. Bank and VISA for recovery, jointly as the reversal time is outside of their charge-back dispute period. Please take this matter into consideration before you purchase anything from AVAST.
fraud
I was downloading Avast and thought I was downloading from Avast and getting three years of protection, The next day, I see a pending charge on account for software hq int he amount of $70.80 which was much more than the amount I agreed to.
My financial institution requires me to attempt to get the charge reversed, There is no phone number listed in directory assistance or the toll free directory. I have not been able to reach the website because my antivirus software considers the site to be malware.
I did notice that Avast did post a fraud notice on their website naming a number of websites including software hq. I am hoping that this proof will get the charges reversed. At this stage, I have to wait for the charge to move from peding to an actual charge and then pursue it as a fraud claim. What this means is that I will have to close my debit MasterCard account and wait up to 14 days for a new card during which time I will either need to write checks or carry cash. (Does anyone still do that?) I guess that anything I do in the future will be through PayPal or some other more secure method that does not expose me to fraud. I have now seen many complaints and know that Software HQ is doing this to MANY folks for many kinds of software. WHY AREN'R THEY BEING PURSUED FOR WIRE FRAUD? CERTAINLY THEY ARE MISREPRESENTING THINGS, ISN'T THAT FRAUD? iSN'T THAT WIRE FRAUD
WHY AREN'T THEY BEING PURSUED.!
My complaint is against the misrepresentation of Software HQ Avast is a fabuluous product. I have no issue with them; just Software HQ's devious misrepresentation.
Thanks!

I received an email saying I have purchased and $499 would be debted from my bank account. I never ordered Avast. This emails return address is hendrireyanshk@gmail.com. I have no idea who this guy is.
I had Avast for years as a loyal customer and then my automatic updates stopped and I could not update manually either and then as my system kept slowing down and down I found there was no more room on my hard drive! WTH? So I deleted programs and absolutely no change. I went to Avasts website which is not very user friendly and I finally found how to leave a message for customer support. Well customer support then asks me what was my problem. So I wrote back that if he was contacting me about the problems I was having with Avast, that I posted on Avast's website then he should know what my problems are? So he sends me a link to uninstall Avast and reinstall it. Well that failed and I sent him an email about it and NEVER heard back from him. Then another "customer support" sent me an email promising me he would help...NEVER heard back from him. Then finally finding a phone number for Avast I called and got hold of a "technical support" and they wanted to charge me $270.00 for a problem I tried to explain to her was Avasts fault to begin with. Had they look into it they would have found how Avast failed to protect my laptop from a virus that filled my computer disc all the way up and slowed my system to a crawl. Then I was able to talk with a supervisor and I told her the whole sordid story and she promised I would hear back from "Technical Support." You know I found out that when Avast employees tell you they will get back with you, it means they are done with you. NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME!
hi i have similar issue ie being overcharged by twice the quoted amount and now after several emails to there so called support i have canceled but still out of pocket by a good amount and they have done as said above and broken my registery, i wonder if they ever read these posts, i would die of shame if this was my company! i think i shall contact trading standards and see what they say, scammers!
Truly ScamArtisis - AVAST. Charged twice, for same service 3 months apart. Unauthorized! Why would I agree to a renewal of $64.04 for the same Internet Security available for $21.34?
Why would I renew twice, 3 months apart? $64.04 is an UNAUTHORIZED renewal. I NEVER give authorization for renewals. I expect a credit/refund.
I want my money back, 85.49 from [protected]. I did not agree to order it. to much money. thanks Helen Syverson
me too charged with no authorization and no way to remove charge but gat a phone number [protected] but that person will not take complaint
Yes, avast will make it so you cannot reset windows defender or other av software as they add a line to the registry. The only way to fix this is to remove that line by editing the registry ... something that most users probably don't know how or care to deal with. Avast is a [censored]e company. I just found out they are associated with digital rivers another [censored]e/crooked company. They need to be prosecuted. These crooked companies need to be punished and much more severely than "normal" crooks.
avast is exactly as the above comment suggest, CROOKS. I tried to cancel auto renewal and like the others and it was a circle circus. these are unethical scammers and locked down my computer even though I still have days left on my "license". I filed with BBB and will do every avenue possible to inform others to stay away from these CROOKS.
I never order anything to this company:DRI*AVAST SOFTW SHANNON, CO. IE and they paid us on by my online bank count 19, 99€ between [protected] Só, I want my money back e cancelling any count Thank you Dominique Santos-PORTUGAL
My credit card was charged $42.79 on 11/26/15. This was an automatic renewal which I do not want. When I clicked manage subscriptions, it would not let me change it.
$70.80 charge
I'm a female 76 years old, but use my computer to pay bills etc. My Norton Antivirus expired, and I do not have
the funds to renew. I accessed AVAST which I found out is free of charge, and when they offered renewals for
a very small portion that any other would be I agreed to pay in advance for renewal, and used my credit card.
I just found out a charge of $70.80 went thru for HQ.NET. and that, I did not authorized. What scam is being
used?
I will not have the monies to renew my 89 year old husbands prescriptions.
Replace my money back to my bank account, as that was not something I authorized.

scam and cheating
I purchased avast spyware on two occassions i did not receive. I contacted avast by email said they said they had no record of it. I looked at bank records and the first time there was no payment taken from account. The second time there was twice the amount taken. Is this ripoff or is this a pirate!

I have a debit that was taken out of my bank account without ever purchasing your software. How a company can take money from me without my permission raises the question, how did you get access to my account in the first place? Please refund my $99.99 immediately!
I posted a few days ago Avast is stealing money. I contacted Avast and requested a refund over a week ago, They stated 7 days maximum for a refund. It been over 7 days, no refund. BEWARE all and cancel your subscription immediately.
