e-mail address
Here's the e-mail address I used to complain about that company: [protected]@avg.com. I sent them three e-mails, one after the other, and I got a response within 24hrs. From a sarcastic idiot, so, I put him in his place and told him to refer me to his superior. I rec'd another e-mail from a different person and I solved my issues with them. For people in the us, report them to the bbb in your area, you can file your complaint online. Good luck to all of you.
billing practices
Avg has obtained my bank account information from my computer with some sort of their own virus. Without me providing my bank info to them, in the last 2 weeks they have twice tested my bank account with fake ach transaction holds. I never give ach info as credit cards are a bit safer on line. I had never heard of them until the first ach hold appeared on my account. Sounds like they have already stolen my bank info from my own home computer and i'm concerned now I have to close my bank account because of them or risk a further bigger ripoff!

I don't think it was avg, I do beleive it was a company called gruruaid.I came into the same issues a few years ago.
AVG is the WORST by far...PC protection system out there. The other day, I my existing two year package was expiring, so I installed the temporary one month package. The next day I thought, I might as well purchase another two year plan again for $55, and be done with it. When I went to install it, it cancelled everything out.. This happened about a couple of days later.
I then placed a call to the crooks of AVG; where they wanted to up sell me to a 300 package. I told them that my computer was just fine, and that all I wanted was the program that I had now paid for. They refused to do so, and cited that I needed to get their package to clear the "Trojans". I told them that my computer was fine; but that I required the package that I bought. They refused and started getting rude and arrogant about it; and then one operator slammed the phone down on my ear, and proceeded to inflect a number of viruses into my computer. When I called to ask for a supervisor, they said that he was away. Then I asked for his name...they refused to give it to me. My computer looked damaged now and I had to spend a lot of time with a separate company to get it back. NEVER EVER, EVER...use AVG. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOTHING SHORT OF DISPICABLE THUGS who will stop at nothing to rob you. I am now going ahead with a law suite.
Need my refund from avg.
I am now waiting on a refund from avg.My account was debited without my knowledge or authorization and put me in overdraft fees.I donot even use avg products anymore.I had to get a new debit card number.

I have recently taken over household bill paying. Reviewing credit card purchases I have found questionable duplicate charges including dri*avg onl element5. Info mn. I have not been able to find their website or phone number to call to have these charges credited back to the account. Does anyone know how to get ahold of this company? Thank you for your help!

AVG Technologies / Unauthorized credit card charges
Namibia
Add a Comment
I had been an AVG Free Version user. Two months ago, my computer crashed. Many viruses were found on it. I never ordered any AVG products, except for running the free version up till the time of the repairs.
However, on 20 May 2019, I saw the following unauthorized transaction on my bank statements:
20/05/2019
Goods and Servic (**1716 - 16/05/2019)|5734 - DRI AVG TECHNOLOGIES ORDERFIND COM IE, to the amount of 848.22 Namibian Dollar (USD 58.93).

突然これが明細書に入っていました、なんでこういうことするかなぁ、窃盗で逮捕されないのかなぁ
AVG charged my acct for something I did not order. See copy of my statement.
Please give me credit.
I paid by Visa credit card on November 24, 2017 for more advanced protection from AVG but you keep sending advertisements for the same thing. I have not received any enhancements I paid $71.76. Please advise...Christine Harvey
AVG is a computer security software like norton or mcafee. Try to remember if you signed up for any free trials or maybe had an account last year that they would be renewing. If you know these aren't your charges, be sure to specifically dispute each separate charge. When the Analyst is reviewing the case, they will look to see if you have undisputed charges from this merchant (which common sense would say means you have done legitimate business with them before, at which point the disputed charge is less likely to be fraudulent)
**Please be aware that your bank is not responsible for which charges appear on your account, AVG charged you accidentally, or an individual is using your credit card number without your permission. Either way, please don't call in and try to blame us for letting a charge through. We do not have the ability to filter your purchases, we can only dispute them after they post
unautherized deduction from my personal bank account
The company mentioned above took $35.13 out of my personal bank account on 03/17/2011 without my approval, I would like the amount to be to be returned or I will take further action with this matter

On 12/23/2012 Avg took $85.98 from my credit card. On 10/1/2013 they said the would re-embursed me my money. As of today nothing has happened. Will file a complaint with the FCC.
I just saw today ( Jan. 31, 2013) that AVG.Com NICOSIA has taken $33.99 from our bank account without our knowledge, and we are paid up. We pay for a year each time we renew. We have NO idea why this money was taken out of our bank account! I will be doing some calling tomorrow...and try to find out what is going on.
To sganser63@hotmail.com; I have had the AVG security software for 3 straight years, renew each year. You most likely didn't pay attention when your trial period ran out and as it states on their site, if you do not contact them by or just before the rrial period ends, you will be charged the cost of the software. I have never had any problems with them. I've had to contact them only once because of a glitsh in their
software that ended up my computer's problem but, they helped me fix it and they didn't have to.
So, why not contact them via their help line which you can find on their site at AVG.com.
failure to provide refund
Renewed subscription to avg intenet security and added a new component in december of 2010. The new version did not work well so I requested a refund within the 30 days. Had a terrible time contacting avg; I received no response to my emails through customer support (You cannot call directly unless you puchase an optional expensive support package). They finally agreed to refund my money after multiple emails and calling sales (Avg's 'contacts' link on the website does not work). I later received an email prompting me to confirm my refund and did so. And then I waited... No refund. I contacted avg again and they said I never confirmed so I could not have the refund. For the first time in my life I contact the bbb and filed a complaint. Several weeks later I received an email that included a letter from avg apologizing and promising a refund within 3-4 weeks. I accepted this offer through bbb and they closed the file. Guess what... !?! No refund! I have tried to recontact bbb, but have not yet received a response from them either. I cannot imagine a company with such poor customer service continuing to have customers.

constant harassment
On feb. 2, 2011, I signed up with avg as I got rid of spy hunter for their deceitful practices. It turns out that avg is no better. They are obnoxious, pushy, scam artists. Since feb. 4, they interrupt me while working pushing their ''updated'' anti virus. Funny how they didn't mention this updated version on feb. 2. Today, april 14, was the last straw. They got into my screen with a big, flashy warning that my computer had so many things wrong with it that I should run the program right away lest I lose everything. I knew it was a trick because there is nothing wrong with my computer, but ran it anyway, and as I suspected, they found all kinds of errors with my registry, with this, that and the other and avg wanted me to purchase their updated version. I will demand refund of my money as soon as I finish typing this complaint, and I will give them five days for a refund. If I do not receive it, I will report them to the bbb and file a complaint with small claims court.
don't ever purchase avg security suite
I bought avg security suite about 3 years ago. The company offers a contract for approximately $80 for two years of service. I resubscribed on september 29, 2010.
In december 2010, one of my unsuspecting friends sent an email message to me that contained the dreaded mighty magoo virus, and I didn't even know it! So, of course, I opened my wonderful avg program, to find out why the software hadn't worked. I was rudely awakened when it showed that I was not covered! What's worse is that, because of the mm virus, I couldn't even download the program from their website. What?
So, I took the time to submit a formal email complaint via avg's website. Long story short: they told me nothing! They actually said that they couldn't help me and didn't even attempt to troubleshoot the problem, to help me to deal with it, or to make me "whole" in an acceptable manner.
So, I replied that I expected a full refund. Their pitiful response? Since I had not submitted my complaint within 30 days of purchase, they could not process a refund... Not even a partial refund! I screamed into the phone, "the product didn't stop working within 30 days of purchase, you ###!" of course, that helped even less, but it made me feel better.
The bottom line is: never look a gift horse in the mouth, and don't buy this rip-off program!
got rootkit from their antivirus
I purchased avg 2011 antivirus thinking it would help protect my personal information when I went online, 2 weeks later after the software was installed on my laptop I contracted a rootkit while on google chrome. My computer (Purchased by my brother just before he passed away) is not operable and may not be fixable. When I contacted avg about it, they sent me instructions asking me to send them various types of information from my computer, luckily I wasn't that stupid. When I told them I wanted a refund they told me it would take two-three weeks. That was 5 weeks ago and I still don't have a refund. I intend to contact the better business bureau and seek to file a class action suit if possible. How do people that work at these types of jobs (that suck money out of people) , live with themselves? How do you look in the mirror people? ###! I hope that someone might read any of these numerous complaints before purchasing from this disreputable company. Obviously they don't understand the old adage - what goes around, comes around!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
As the viruses wouldn't let me go anywhere I decided to purchase this software, though never heard of it before. Unlike the persons who posted a comment above AVG 2011 had cleaned up my system from all the crap and I'm quite satisfied with it so far.
Also Why didn't you used the support service? I did it and it helped me a lot.
I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong untill I talked to a representative of the support.
avg in my experience is as bad as aol as far as getting deeeeeep into your computer programs.i uninstalled avg from a clients computer with intentions of installing another anti virus program for it to tell me there was still avg in the computer. i then had to 'flatline' the computer reinstall windows and start from fresh. IT WORKED. unless your hard drive is compromised your computer should still be operational. after installing windows your computer will be like a new one.i currently use the free avast anti virus now for over 6 months and everything is working fine. no compromises at all so far.
It has many useful and powerful utilities for PC scanning. Most of the antiviruses are just a fake, they really do nothing, just emulate performance. But not this one!
Sorry to say you got ripoff. AVG 2011 Antivirus is a Rogue Anti-Spyware.
and virus and there website is fake. here is more info

useless
Downloaded AVG and paid for the 1 year plan. AVG shows it is updated, all systems working properly and protecting my computer. It shows the last time it was updated and even lets you run scans in addition to the scans it supposedly runs on its own. My computer is shot now. I called the tech support and was told AVG is not installed on my computer and rather than helping me get it installed they kept trying to sell me more expensive programs. This is a SCAM----DO NOT BUY AVG!

false advertising
I have used avg free for years with thanks. i have excellent credit ido not need that all i want is the avg free as you advertise. never would have thought that you would scam. i will install some other. thanks. i have nothing more to say. thanks for former use but this is plainly a scheme to get people on credit. I do not need or want nothing more to say.
1 am shocked at this mess. who knew?i do not have twenty more words to say what good would it do.ok six more word, thanks and goodbye.
refund request ignored
Purchased avg antivirus. Year later received request to update which I did and paid. Six months later received another request and paid again. Discovered error and avg refused to refund. When I complained and said I would use another company I was told "that is your perogative"! Wow.

If you can read, write and follow instructions, you can file a Complaint, ok?
that is what this board is for...pass it along..don't let the big dogs bite you in your wallet! you might be a so called champion of small claims..but the average person is not...don't be arrogant in your posts...holla
I am the champion of Small Claims lawsuits. I have won every case I have filed and I have gotten all my money back, to the last penny. Therefore, I have not wasted/lost any money. Obviously I know what I'm doing and most importantly, I don't let anyone to take advantage of me. And I'm not even an attorney, but I am TOO SMART as opposed of being chicken brian fa.
too smart? why should you piss away good money to get bad money?...do what is free first like i said before! bringing a law suit doesn't guarantee a win..and mostly you have to wait in line like the rest of the class..come on man! get with the program! don't get mad get valuable info then get even
report them to the BBB and file a complaint with Small Claims Court, alternatively, we can all get together and bring a class action suit. We shall see how tough they are.
ATTORNEY GENERAL! get that sob name who gave you the r/r...and get the supervisor's name as well! then bring it to an official complaint!...afteryou get their names TELL THEM THEY WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL! it is a guarantee to piss them off...and that will be worth it to you!
listen baby try spybot...it is free and works very well...they may ASK you for a donation...but you don;t have to...really search and destroy...very good
you pay for antivirus? WOW
no credit, no refund
Avg antivirus software block my printing job. I tried them by taking a $2.99 for someting. They charged me $54.00, so I complained. They offered me $29.99/year and refund the balance and one week free trial.
I have not downloaded their software yet. Nothing I can find an avg anti-virus avg protection in my computer.

Read full review of AVG Technologiesdid not work
My mom took a thumb drive to a drugstore that shall remain nameless until I can be sure the virus came from there, but she brought the drive home and it immediately crashed her computer. I watched a fully updated copy of free avg scan the infection "windo. Exe" and do nothing. I installed another free product from antivir.com and it removed all the infections. This really makes me mad, virus software should find known viruses. This is not an old virus, it has been known since 2009. There is just no excuse.
The reason a piece of virus software must find viruses, whether or not it is free, is because it is being relied upon to do that. That is a legal concept called foreseeable detrimental reliance.
Why would I pay for the full version. It CANNOT have a better virus database than the free version as to do so would subject the company making it to liability. Making the pay version find viruses that the free version did not would be tantamount to:
1. Telling someone software would take care of all viruses (foreseeable detrimental reliance)
2. Knowing he/she had a virus
3. then deliberately ignoring that virus in spite of the potential for harm.
If you promise to babysit your friends children for free, it does not mean you can let the children play with razor blades and trash bags. They are relying upon you for an important function and the fact that it was undertaken voluntarily does not absolve you of your responsibility to exercise reasonable care.
Besides the free version of the software I prefer found the virus and eliminated it. SpyBot S&D is the best spyware program in my opinion, and it is free as is Open Office, which I like better than MS Office. Stealth pilots argument is totally without merit.
I understand.. I really do. :) I guess what I meant was if it is a fully functional free version for XX number of days, and then if you like it you buy it and if you don't wish to purchase it, it reverts to a less functional Free version. Does that make sense? lol.. But I do get your point. No disrespect intended.
*shakes head* Why would I want to upgrade to a paid version if the free version showed poor performance? I mean...isn't the free version supposed to a good job so that you have incentive to purchase the paid version. Makes no kind of sense to me (Kathy Griffin) ;) Seriously though! If that can't be understood...*shrugs* just goes to further my point..
inability to contact
I supposedly have avg security on-line scanning system. I have paid for this. My computer now has a virus transmitted through an e-mail avg is supposed to scan. I have also infected everyone in my addressbook through an e-mail from me, that I never sent. My address book was pirated and then infiltrated by someone. Avg advertises themselves as a protective system against things like this happening. It has not done this and I have spent the last 5 hours trying to get in touch with avg. On line contacts tell me that web page is not available and phone numbers tell me they are not associated with avg. Who are these poeple and where are they. I want my money back and I want my computer back. I also want everyone to know that avg is nto what they say then are. They are a fraud. I would like to press charges or belong to a group with complaints against them.

After my payment I have received a mail confirming my registration and asked me to give my some details to create an account for avg. Unfortunately after that I did not get any account or activation data to process. When it happend my some files were infected by virus and I was helpless to cure it. Finaly I got managed to get another virus guard provider's help to clean my files. Therefore I was totally dissapointed about the service and I asked to refound the money as they promised me at the time of registration saying 30 days money back garantee. Actualy I have sent more than 3 mails to avg support services regarding this refund quoting the mail which I have received from them. But still I do not receive any mail saying they will going to refund my money as they promise. Now I am in the position to feel risk to buy anything online. Because they are not met the level of satisfaction and failed to keep the promised what they had done.
Ordered avg last year (1 year license) and they billed me again a year later when I was not using the product. The bank account they charged had been dormant and was charged off before I even figured out what had happened.
Only way to speak with "customer service" is to fill out a form and then call the # they give you using a generated code that is only valad for 15 minutes. They then say, "ok wait for our email". They then refuse to reverse the charges even though the license they send was never activated.
I thought I paid for 3 years of avg protection for my computer. The money was paid through paypal and receipt has been acknowledged as paid out by paypal. No acknowledgement has been made by advancetelecom to date. I paid $69.40 and I did not realize that I was dealing with a scam artist.
What can I do to get this money back?
Have paid upfront for avg 8.5 we were sent download line on which to hit, luckerly we had an antivirus program loaded, a free avg in fact this gave us waring that it was a phishing site. They had asked us to of load any antivirus we had, good job we did not.
We have of course cancelled the card with which we paid & pound;22, by doing that we lose the right to redress, it is great to find this site, at least it is a comfort to know someone is trying to get back at them.
Regards m j cornell
Tried to cancel my subscription with avg, initially they were very helpful - your refund will be with you in 7 - 10 working days. Bah! That was a month ago, I have since been told that they cant refund to paypal because it was over 60 days since the purchase (This is their fault if they had sorted it in the beginning it was only 32 days after the purchase). Tried to get a bacs payment, this has never turned up and the last correspondence I received from them was a week ago requesting my bank details. I have tried to complain using the management link on the avg website - they obviously don't care either. Not sure where I stand now - obviously avg only care about you until they have your money, once they have it they disconnect their customer services completely - no phone numbers get answered, no emails get answered, even complaints get ignored.
My advice - do not buy avg they are weasels
I saw the advertisment for avg upgrade from free avg. I did not know I would have to install it from a disk until I had given my credit card number. The sales person must have intered my charges before the sales was complete which I could not use if I had to install it and asked that my free be reinstalled, which was done. (i am 89 years old and limited computer abilities. )
When charges appeared on my acount, I tried with no avail to get an address or phone number. I could never make connections with customer service. In fact, all I could reach was sales. I have not used the service, the unopened disk has been returned and since I could not locate a site or phone number for a complaint, I feel the charges should be removed. Wallace godwin

I was just on the phone with a peter wilson who had me on hold for a long time and I after I gave him all my information he told me his computer was down and I needed to call after 1:00 pm today. I just want my refund back! This is a scam and I was charged for something that doest work and that I didnt even order. Please refund my money back of $51.45 that was charged to my credit card on 9/11.
I used AVG antivirus software for 1 year. Canceled and switched to Norton which is a superior product. AVG renewed and charged my credit card without my authorization. Filed a complaint with AVG and they ackowledged via email with comlaint number but they have made no effort to reslove. Now I can't reach them. Once they have your credit card number they will continue to renew each year.
Very strangely. I canceled a credit card that I used when I first registered with AVG. But this year they billed me on another credit card. HOW DID THE GOT IT?
NEVER BUY ON LINE! I mean NOTHING! and
AVG chit an problems are FREE! LOL

deliberate virus
I spent the day yesterday trying to remove a virus from a friend's computer taken over by AVG. It locked up everything and would not let her even on line. Apparently this is par for the course for the AVG-Free which works for a time without cost. Then after several months you get these pop-ups to buy antivirus software and the next thing you know your machine is taken over and you can't do anything except purchase the pop-up software to take care of the virus. We kept getting AVG and Microsoft logos so don't know if Microsoft is in on it or not. Her only recourse was to take her computer to a shop and get it cleaned...so AVG FREE is not Free.
I had the same problem with my conputer a couple of years ago but was able to load Nortons which took care of the problem . I was unable to do so with her computer because it locked up everything. BE WARE of AVG...It isn't free!

Sorry to tell you the bad news but, the avg anti-virus with the mcrosoft like-ness logo is fraud trojan /keylogger virus...it is neither avg or microsoft ...it will disable dll's that allows anti-virus programs from opening from website downloads...download another free anti-virus program but save to unopened new folder on desktop, then close internet connection, open and run program without internet connection on, it will then be able to delete the trojan/and all other viruses..if you have modem/cable connection just unplug wire&run anti-virus ...also remove any new or suspicious programs ...
file is corrupt
Avg took my credit card. Renewal would not download. Response was "file is corrupt".
Please refund my money. Who do I call? I understand that element five is the company that handles the billing. Please give instructions and/or phone number to call. I do not want to pay any more money in the premium support department - this is not the way to sell anti-virus software. I will not cease to pursue getting my refund back. If I do not, I will take this to the next level. I do not like reading the other complaints of other people. I need a response as quickly as possible.

non delivery of product
I have paid for but not recieved AVG product for virus control etc .
Advertised by microsoft as (what Ibelieved a recomend ) Iapplied for AVG free
download to protect my computerfro viruses
When I got to their site they offered 3 options none of them free but as I needed to protect my computer I opted to pay them £10 ayear for two years (£20.00)cover I sent them my details and then tried to download their product which wouldnt download .I Then sent them a e mail explaining this (not down loading).infact I sent 3 emails back to back, trying to resolve my problemas Iwas getting concerned that my computer was at risk.
They returned a Email to me rebuking me for sending 3 back to back emails. In it they sent suggestions for me to try all of which did not work, they suggested also if
I had any further problems I another department of theirs.I did send to the suggested department but recieed no reply or joy.
After two days or so my wife was looking up our bank statememts and found that the sum of£26.96 had been taken from our account.
I then sent them a e mail pointing out the "error" And suggested that if they could not provide me with the their product for the sum of £20 as advertised that they reinburse my card and cancell my order for their product.
They then returned a email suggesting a phone number that I could use to resolve this issue. This number carries cost of £1.50 per minute .
I have of course emailed them cancelling order and asking for my money to be reimbursed.
Irealy urge anyone thinking of using AVG to be very wary of the way in which they opperate.
Iwill let you Know if Iget my mony back BUT I DONT HOLD OUT MANY HOPES>

I just had a bad experience with SoftwarePros. We thought we were installing the free version of AVG. Then we were asked to sign up for a one or two-year contract ($12.92), which bewildered us. However, we assumed the free version must now come with some charge. AVG was then downloaded on to our computer, but we got notice from them that we had signed up for the 30-day free trial and would then need to pay if we wished to continue. Today I looked at my credit card bill and discovered that AVG had not made the charge. I called their support line and asked exactly what I had paid $52.92 (notice that it is NOT $12.92) for. She said she had no idea and to call the company. I told her I couldn't even tell what company it was. She hestitated, got angry and finally told me SoftwarePros. Then she told me she thought I was ###ed and hung up. At any rate, I am disputing the charge with my credit card company to try to get that money back.
please remove my avg software from my computor. I have new software from another company. I did not like the fact you charging me twice, and automatically taking money out of my account, without my permission first. I paid for 2011 software in Dec, of 2010 and then you charge me again in Feb. 2011 again. I always like to give my permission before any money is taken out of my account. I am on social security disability, and cannot afford to pay your way. thank you chris
There is paid versions as well as free versions of AVG. However, I have heard of Softwarepros, who seem to be scammers and are not associated with AVG.
They are not affiliated with AVG in anyway and position themselves as though they are AVG, which they are not. This is a scam. SoftwarePros advertise on their website that they are Microsoft or AVG, but they are not. They do not offer the legitimate product, and often offer links to infections rather than protection.
The complaint should be directed at SoftwarePros, not AVG.
I tried AVG anti-virus for only a couple of days, it slowed my computer done. I have Windows Vista and have been using Windows Security Essentials for a while now, my computer was not slowed down by it. I haven't been infected since I started using it,
and yes it's free.

We purchased AVG Technologies Internet Security November 26, 2009. SInce the installation we have been bombarded with e-mails from every category listed in your complaint list. We are not internet surfers so it cannot be coming from sites we have visited. We were NEVER troubled with this problem until the purchase of your security system. Unless the problem is resolved we will demand our money back and will go back to our previous security. And, it the problem is not resolved we will file a formal complaint with the PUC.

I paid AVG virus $107.64 for anti-virus protection...Two days later they (without my permission) withdrew $59.99 & $89.99 from my acct...I have been trying to get them to replace the $150.00 with no success and this has put my checking acct now in the RED...I have NO money in my checking acct and bills coming in are pushing me over the edge...I am at my wits end...I am 81, live alone...HELP...Betty Rogers (Georgia)

Why can't I find AVG's e-mail address? Seems ludicrous for AVG not to have an e-mail address.
I want to know why I have been charged twice for my AVG PRODUCT . £ 31.99 was taken from my account on 28/07/2014 and £ 40.00 was taken on 29/07/2014
Avg should be sued for false advertisement. They offer protection from virus's and your personal data. While they turn a blind eye to Adobe's backdoor trogan in their flash player to snoop through your computer to try and find things they can get you in trouble for. Or use your personal date for whatever they choose to.
They used to find trogans from adobe but i'm sure adobe paid them a fat check to shut them up. Which i'm sure the RIAA was the one backing the funding for payoffs to let such illegal acts be committed under the lack of awareness that if we don't see it happening we're none the wiser. Well that is illegal to go through our computers in the first place to try and see if we are breaking the law when they are doing it just to try and find something. They are like the bad cops who break the law in order to bust someone or shoot and often kill people and they keep their jobs.
A class action lawsuit needs to be filed against adobe for trogans being placed on our computers in order to snoop through our computers on their leisure.
