Easily compare versions and paraphrases or read commentary.
Great tool to find specific passages in the Bible
Great tool to find specific passages in the Bible. It has links to all passages organized by Book. Very good and helpful languages with many different versions for the same or other countries. It allows to see multiple versions side by side to establish useful comparisons.
Thank you, financial supporters of Bible Gateway's great, beneficial resource!
Thank you, financial supporters of Bible Gateway's great, beneficial resource!
Because of you, your economically inclusive policies, the people who contribute prayer to your endeavour, and Bible Gateway's financial supporters, people like me are able to use Bible Gateway's free of charge options (to which some people must restrict themselves). I feel so grateful. I use Bible Gateway frequently and love using it.
Using Bible Gateway makes a difference in my life. Comparing passages in a variety of translations can be helpful and insightful. The bible, God's word to us, is edifying, vitally nourishing, strengthening, wisdom imparting, guiding, and refreshing for new testament believers.
New testament christians have (less a religion than) a relationship.
We can communicate to God, through the gifts of Christ and the Holy Spirit, in a variety of ways. Likewise, God, including through Christ and the Holy Spirit, communicates to believers and other human beings in a variety of ways. The bible, the "Word," is a vital one. So, that we as believers listen continuously to God through the Word is a necessity. That's because relationships require and benefit from communication.
Bible Gateway, even for people who are not able to support it financially, brings so much more accessibility to readers of the bible and to those who treasure the bible as our Creator's communication to us.
Thank you, financial supporters of Bible Gateway for enabling and permitting this access -- to even those people who are unable to contribute financially.
May your financial support and economically inclusive policies at Bible Gateway enable light for many currently unsaved people, and enable light for believers who treasure their communication from God, through the bible, the Word.
To the financial supporters of Bible Gateway and its economically inclusive policies, may all your own needs be met, and some of your wants too.

P.S. One day, I would like to be able to award Bible Gateway bonus points and more public recognition for being able to hopefully, eventually find some way to prevent at least the ads that are function-slowing, moving, popping up, and most distracting. Such ads can be barriers particularly for a huge portion of (at least) the North American population who have chronic conditions that affect brain function, including attention.
[EXAMPLES: Brain injuries, under-nutrition, malnutrition, autism spectrum conditions, attention deficit conditions, hyperactivity conditions, Alzheimer's, other dementia conditions, OCD or other obsessive or compulsive conditions, other "broken brain" conditions, physical and physiological pain conditions, psychological conditions, emotional conditions, partial illiteracy.
Plus chronic loads of toxins from the entire continent's insufficient laws regarding lead, cadmium, mercury, and other heavy metals, pesticides, and other toxins, from dirty food, apartment air, outdoor air pollutants, apartment dwellers' dryer sheets (which bake onto dryer drums and poison all the apartment dryers' tenants), apartment dryer sheet air, the persisting plague on renters whose homes are continuously filled with smoke of cigarettes, etc. of people outside their suites. ETC. Drug addictions.]
All those examples, and more, are reminders that MANY North Americans have chronic conditions that strongly affect brain function, including attention! (Governments persistently prioritize corporations over the needs of people and planet.)
At Bible Gateway, like so many online places, the most distracting ads to which I referred can prevent some of those many kinds of people from the more effective access that people need.
Maybe try using effective ad blocker extensions to love using Bible Gateway
I love using Bible Gateway! Although, I do miss the most popular paraphrase, the Living Bible: as a paraphrase, it has a legitimate and beneficial place. It is disturbing still that Bible Gateway sadly removed the paraphrase from the available selection of versions and paraphrases. Miss it still.
A far more beneficial alternative would be to make even more obvious that the paraphrase is a paraphrase, and, somewhere obvious near the drop-down, selection list of versions, to concisely and simply explain the difference between a paraphrase and translation.
I have not used paid versions of Bible Gateway at this point. And I have not used the app. I have appreciated the publicly accessible aspects of Bible Gateway. Very useful. Thank you, Bible Gateway and financial contributors to Bible Gateway, for economically inclusively maintaining that access despite the financial costs. Many people are economically unable to pay for access to such resources.
Some Reviewers here who are exasperated by the ads that they see while using the website don't realize how corporate ads on the internet generally work.
First, without the ads, Bible Gateway's website might not be able to afford to run at all!
Secondly, it's extremely unlikely that Bible Gateway is the source that chooses the -- system slowing, function diminishing, distracting, focus destroying, and in some cases objectionable -- ads that those reviewers and other users are unfortunately inundated with.
For example, even the Reviewers' own "operating system" may be a source of the ads. If the understandably exasperated Reviewers use devices that run the Google Chrome operating system and the Reviewers use a Google Account, they can have "some" - limited - choice about which categories of ads they most want to see less of. People who use Apple, Microsoft, or other operating systems likely have more effective options for avoiding the ads.
To reduce the number of ads, while using this website or the rest of the internet, exasperated Reviewers may prefer to try using free, effective ad blocker extensions or other software compatible with their devices' operating system/s. That's not a completely reliable measure though. One reason is that for up to date effectiveness, ad blocking extensions likely will need to be updated, swapped, and replaced continuously. Many internet users will need help with that, especially if they economically cannot pay for related expertise, services, up to date devices, or powerful enough internet access subscriptions.
It's mid 2022 as I write this and Google Chrome and its operating system have become antagonistic toward ad blocking extensions, because Google Chrome's model of business relies directly on providing paying corporations with advertising opportunities. Google Chrome generates sales and profit that way. So Google Chrome now technologically prevents ad blocking extensions from being as effective as some of them were able to be in the past.
Google Chrome's decision is a sadly exclusionary and highly ableist approach that erects impossible barriers everyday for millions of North Americans, of most ages, who have one or more of many brain affecting conditions.
In the conflicts between advertising corporations and human beings (regardless how much or whether they use the internet), including the ads inundated, exasperated users of the Bible Gateway site, Google is firmly on the side of corporations and unfettered profit.
There are likely paid versions of software, too, that can more effectively block ads for many of those internet users who know about them, or who are economically able to pay someone who does know about them, and to pay (for large enough devices, operating systems, programs, subscriptions, and ISP subscriptions that are all always current), so that their security features and any ad blocking opportunities can be kept up to date automatically.
But, again, the source of most of the frustrating troubles for the Reviewers and other users who are inundated with ads while trying to use Bible Gateway is likely NOT Bible Gateway!
(I do not work for Bible Gateway.)

Convenient and User-Friendly: My Review of BibleGateway
They keep popping up when I'm trying to read the Bible. But, other than that, BibleGateway is pretty useful. You can read and search different translations of the Bible, and even listen to audio versions of it. It's cool that you can also access devotionals and commentaries to help you understand the scripture better. I've used it a lot for Bible studies and it's really convenient to have everything in one place. The site is easy to use and I haven't had any technical issues with it. Overall, I recommend BibleGateway for anyone who wants to read the Bible online.
BibleGateway Review: A Legit Online Bible with Multiple Translations and Features
So I found this website, BibleGateway, and let me tell you, it's pretty legit. I mean, if you're into reading the Bible and all that jazz. The layout is simple enough, with a search bar where you can look up specific passages or keywords. It's got a bunch of different translations too, so you can choose the one that speaks to you the most.
One thing I did notice, though, is that they have these Bible verse images that sometimes pop up. They're pretty cool-looking, but I gotta say, some of them seem a little out of place. Like, I saw one that said "Love your neighbor" while I was scrolling through a news article about some guy getting attacked in the street. I mean, I guess it's a nice sentiment and all, but it just seemed a little tone-deaf, you know?
But overall, I'd recommend BibleGateway if you're looking for a way to read the Bible online. It's pretty straightforward and there's a lot of useful features, like cross-references and footnotes. Just maybe take those verse images with a grain of salt, you feel me?
BibleGateway Review: Great Features, but Scrambled Text is a Major Flaw
BibleGateway website is a place where you can go to read, search, and study the Bible. One of the features it has is the ability to copy and paste passages from the Bible onto your computer, phone, or tablet. But, um, when you paste the text into another document, it comes out scrambled and disorganized.
I mean, really, why would they do that? It doesn't make any sense to me. It's like they are trying to take credit for the text or something. I don't think that is what Jesus would want. He would want us to share His words with others, not try to take credit for them ourselves.
Personally, I just don't like messing with scrambled text. Especially when you're trying to copy and paste something important, like a Bible verse. It just takes too much time and effort to try and figure out what the text is supposed to say.
So, I will not be using BibleGateway anymore. I think there are other, better websites out there that allow you to copy and paste text without any issues. If you're looking for a place to study the Bible, I would suggest trying out some of those other sites instead.
Overall, I think the concept of BibleGateway is great, but the scrambled text feature is not. Hopefully, they will fix it soon so that people can enjoy all the other great features of the site without any annoying issues.
