Mixed Feelings About BibleGateway
As someone who values the convenience of accessing the Bible online, I have had a mixed experience with BibleGateway. On one hand, the variety of versions and languages available is impressive, making it a valuable resource for many users. However, the increasing presence of ads and issues with customer service have been disappointing. Some users have reported difficulties with subscriptions and accessing paid features, which can be frustrating. While the platform offers useful tools like reading plans and audio versions, the overall user experience seems to be affected by intrusive ads and occasional technical glitches. For those seeking a reliable online Bible resource, BibleGateway may still be worth exploring, but it's essential to be aware of these potential drawbacks.
Consistent
Very efficient website that always user to search by topic, verse or phrases.
Easily compare versions and paraphrases or read commentary.
Great tool to find specific passages in the Bible
Great tool to find specific passages in the Bible. It has links to all passages organized by Book. Very good and helpful languages with many different versions for the same or other countries. It allows to see multiple versions side by side to establish useful comparisons.
Thank you, financial supporters of Bible Gateway's great, beneficial resource!
Thank you, financial supporters of Bible Gateway's great, beneficial resource!
Because of you, your economically inclusive policies, the people who contribute prayer to your endeavour, and Bible Gateway's financial supporters, people like me are able to use Bible Gateway's free of charge options (to which some people must restrict themselves). I feel so grateful. I use Bible Gateway frequently and love using it.
Using Bible Gateway makes a difference in my life. Comparing passages in a variety of translations can be helpful and insightful. The bible, God's word to us, is edifying, vitally nourishing, strengthening, wisdom imparting, guiding, and refreshing for new testament believers.
New testament christians have (less a religion than) a relationship.
We can communicate to God, through the gifts of Christ and the Holy Spirit, in a variety of ways. Likewise, God, including through Christ and the Holy Spirit, communicates to believers and other human beings in a variety of ways. The bible, the "Word," is a vital one. So, that we as believers listen continuously to God through the Word is a necessity. That's because relationships require and benefit from communication.
Bible Gateway, even for people who are not able to support it financially, brings so much more accessibility to readers of the bible and to those who treasure the bible as our Creator's communication to us.
Thank you, financial supporters of Bible Gateway for enabling and permitting this access -- to even those people who are unable to contribute financially.
May your financial support and economically inclusive policies at Bible Gateway enable light for many currently unsaved people, and enable light for believers who treasure their communication from God, through the bible, the Word.
To the financial supporters of Bible Gateway and its economically inclusive policies, may all your own needs be met, and some of your wants too.
J
P.S. One day, I would like to be able to award Bible Gateway bonus points and more public recognition for being able to hopefully, eventually find some way to prevent at least the ads that are function-slowing, moving, popping up, and most distracting. Such ads can be barriers particularly for a huge portion of (at least) the North American population who have chronic conditions that affect brain function, including attention.
[EXAMPLES: Brain injuries, under-nutrition, malnutrition, autism spectrum conditions, attention deficit conditions, hyperactivity conditions, Alzheimer's, other dementia conditions, OCD or other obsessive or compulsive conditions, other "broken brain" conditions, physical and physiological pain conditions, psychological conditions, emotional conditions, partial illiteracy.
Plus chronic loads of toxins from the entire continent's insufficient laws regarding lead, cadmium, mercury, and other heavy metals, pesticides, and other toxins, from dirty food, apartment air, outdoor air pollutants, apartment dwellers' dryer sheets (which bake onto dryer drums and poison all the apartment dryers' tenants), apartment dryer sheet air, the persisting plague on renters whose homes are continuously filled with smoke of cigarettes, etc. of people outside their suites. ETC. Drug addictions.]
All those examples, and more, are reminders that MANY North Americans have chronic conditions that strongly affect brain function, including attention! (Governments persistently prioritize corporations over the needs of people and planet.)
At Bible Gateway, like so many online places, the most distracting ads to which I referred can prevent some of those many kinds of people from the more effective access that people need.
Maybe try using effective ad blocker extensions to love using Bible Gateway
I love using Bible Gateway! Although, I do miss the most popular paraphrase, the Living Bible: as a paraphrase, it has a legitimate and beneficial place. It is disturbing still that Bible Gateway sadly removed the paraphrase from the available selection of versions and paraphrases. Miss it still.
A far more beneficial alternative would be to make even more obvious that the paraphrase is a paraphrase, and, somewhere obvious near the drop-down, selection list of versions, to concisely and simply explain the difference between a paraphrase and translation.
I have not used paid versions of Bible Gateway at this point. And I have not used the app. I have appreciated the publicly accessible aspects of Bible Gateway. Very useful. Thank you, Bible Gateway and financial contributors to Bible Gateway, for economically inclusively maintaining that access despite the financial costs. Many people are economically unable to pay for access to such resources.
Some Reviewers here who are exasperated by the ads that they see while using the website don't realize how corporate ads on the internet generally work.
First, without the ads, Bible Gateway's website might not be able to afford to run at all!
Secondly, it's extremely unlikely that Bible Gateway is the source that chooses the -- system slowing, function diminishing, distracting, focus destroying, and in some cases objectionable -- ads that those reviewers and other users are unfortunately inundated with.
For example, even the Reviewers' own "operating system" may be a source of the ads. If the understandably exasperated Reviewers use devices that run the Google Chrome operating system and the Reviewers use a Google Account, they can have "some" - limited - choice about which categories of ads they most want to see less of. People who use Apple, Microsoft, or other operating systems likely have more effective options for avoiding the ads.
To reduce the number of ads, while using this website or the rest of the internet, exasperated Reviewers may prefer to try using free, effective ad blocker extensions or other software compatible with their devices' operating system/s. That's not a completely reliable measure though. One reason is that for up to date effectiveness, ad blocking extensions likely will need to be updated, swapped, and replaced continuously. Many internet users will need help with that, especially if they economically cannot pay for related expertise, services, up to date devices, or powerful enough internet access subscriptions.
It's mid 2022 as I write this and Google Chrome and its operating system have become antagonistic toward ad blocking extensions, because Google Chrome's model of business relies directly on providing paying corporations with advertising opportunities. Google Chrome generates sales and profit that way. So Google Chrome now technologically prevents ad blocking extensions from being as effective as some of them were able to be in the past.
Google Chrome's decision is a sadly exclusionary and highly ableist approach that erects impossible barriers everyday for millions of North Americans, of most ages, who have one or more of many brain affecting conditions.
In the conflicts between advertising corporations and human beings (regardless how much or whether they use the internet), including the ads inundated, exasperated users of the Bible Gateway site, Google is firmly on the side of corporations and unfettered profit.
There are likely paid versions of software, too, that can more effectively block ads for many of those internet users who know about them, or who are economically able to pay someone who does know about them, and to pay (for large enough devices, operating systems, programs, subscriptions, and ISP subscriptions that are all always current), so that their security features and any ad blocking opportunities can be kept up to date automatically.
But, again, the source of most of the frustrating troubles for the Reviewers and other users who are inundated with ads while trying to use Bible Gateway is likely NOT Bible Gateway!
(I do not work for Bible Gateway.)
Review of Biblegateway: A Valuable Resource for Scripture Study with Some Minor Glitches
about the Word of God. I personally loved the audio feature on the website, it's easy to use and helps me to fully immerse myself in the scriptures. The search function is also great, allowing me to easily find and compare different verses and translations.
One thing I found a bit frustrating, however, was the occasional glitches I experienced while using the site. Sometimes the audio would stop playing or the page would freeze, which could disrupt my study flow. But overall, these issues were minor and didn't detract too much from my experience.
Additionally, while the site does have a lot of helpful resources and features, it can also be a bit overwhelming. Sometimes I found myself getting lost in all the different options and links, and needed to take a step back and refocus on my original intention.
All in all, I would still strongly recommend Biblegateway to anyone seeking to deepen their understanding and knowledge of the Bible. The site's breadth of translations and study tools make it a valuable resource for both new believers and seasoned scholars alike.
BibleGateway: A Blessing for Online Bible Study - A Review
Yo, I gotta say, BibleGateway is the real deal. It's helped me and tons of others in more ways than I can count. Back in the day, it was a real pain to find specific verses and stuff online, but this site has made it a breeze. They're really holding it down with this invaluable service. Like, thank you so much for all the hard work y'all put in! And may the man upstairs bless your efforts.
Positive Review of BibleGateway: No Issues with Copy/Paste & Easy to Use, Despite Ads
I gotta say that I don't got no issues with copying and pastin' verses on BibleGateway. It's either that any previous problems got fixed up or maybe it's just the person who was having trouble didn't have the right browser. Y'know what I mean? Like, overall, I think it's a pretty good site. The only thing I don't really like that much is the ads, but I've learned to just sorta ignore them. At least they don't pop up right there in the middle of me reading the Word, ya know? So, that's a plus in my book.
BibleGateway Review: A User-Friendly Site for Christians of All Levels
I have been using biblegateway.com for a while now and let me tell you, it's a pretty neat site. No matter what level of spirituality you're at, you can definitely find something here that will inspire and motivate you. Being a newbie Christian myself, I was a bit intimidated at first. But once I started browsing through the site and exploring the different versions of the Bible, I felt empowered and connected.
One feature that I love about BibleGateway is the option to choose different versions of the Bible. I started out with the Kid's version, which was perfect for someone like me who was new to the faith. As I grew more comfortable, I started exploring the other versions, like the NIV and the ESV, which were great for more advanced reading. The site recommends different levels of comprehension, so you can choose which one works best for you.
Another feature that deserves a shoutout is the daily verse. Every day, BibleGateway sends you a verse to reflect on, which is a great way to stay connected to your faith throughout the day. The site also has a wide range of devotionals to choose from, which are perfect for those seeking a deeper connection with God.
Overall, BibleGateway is a godsend (pun intended!) for anyone looking to strengthen their faith through reading and reflection. It's easy to use, user-friendly, and the vast array of resources available make it a must-have for any Christian. Whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned vet, BibleGateway is sure to inspire you and deepen your spirituality.
BibleGateway Used to be a Beacon of Hope, but Now It's More Like a Flea Market
I've been a fan of BibleGateway for many moons now. But, lemme tell ya, things have gone downhill. The site is clogged up with ads. It's almost like they're trying to sell you something every time you try to read the good word. It's a real bummer, man. Back in the day, this site was like a beacon of hope. You could find any passage you wanted and just read it through. But now, it's like you can't even concentrate on the words 'cause you're too busy tryna avoid all the pop-ups. It's a real shame, ya know? I mean, this site used to be all about spreading the love of scripture and letting people dive deep into the text. But with all the up-selling, it feels more like a flea market than a sanctuary.
BibleGateway: Your One-Stop Shop for All Your Biblical Needs
BibleGateway is a terrific website for all your biblical needs. Trust us, there are few sites on the internet that can compare for the resources that this site has in store for you. Whether you're looking to research a particular bible verse or passage, or simply to read the bible, BibleGateway has you covered.
What makes BibleGateway stand out from the rest of the bible websites out there is its impressive collection of versions and translations of the bible. You'll find everything from the King James Version (KJV) to the Contemporary English Version (CEV), and everything in between. Additionally, the site also offers audio versions of the Bible, reading plans and devotionals to those looking to deepen their understanding of the scriptures.
Now, we know what you're thinking, as with any site nowadays, there are advertisements that pop up. But don't worry, the ads are usually quite minimal and not too intrusive, so you can browse the site without being bombarded with too many ads.
In short, if you're looking for a site to improve your biblical understanding, BibleGateway is definitely worth exploring. You need a bible reference quickly? They've got you covered. You want to compare different versions to properly understand the passage? BibleGateway has got you covered as well. You simply want to read the bible? Then, definitely, BibleGateway has got you covered. Only reason not to use this site is if you hate bibles, but we don't know why you would be looking at a bible site if you do.
Inappropriate Advertisements Ruin Bible Reading Experience
I recently began to read the Bible starting from the beginning to really gain a better understanding of the Word. I realized that my paper Bible was of a different version, the New King James Version, but I needed the King James Version instead. That's when I came across BibleGateway.com and thought it would be the perfect solution for me.
However, as I continued to read every day, I was constantly bombarded with an advertisement that appeared on the website each time I logged on. This ad really caught my attention and was very concerning. It proclaimed that Yoga is evil and demonic, and to add to it all, there was a mat with a star shape that the ad displayed.
I dismissed it for some time, but I couldn't help but see the ad each time I logged on. It became frustrating and unbearable as the days went by. Finally, I decided to investigate and find out what was going on.
To my dismay, I discovered that the advertisement was placed there intentionally, but I couldn't understand why. It was completely irrelevant to Bible Gateway and disrespectful to other people's religious beliefs and practices.
I was so disappointed in the lack of discretion used by Bible Gateway that, unfortunately, I will have to end my use of the website. It's a pity they don't think about their user's experience and seem to prioritize ads instead. I hope they fix this soon, for the sake of their other users.
Biblical Wisdom: A Review of BibleGateway and Catholic Mass for All Religions
Yo! If you wanna know about the Bible then you gotta check out BibleGateway. It's a super dope website where you can read and study the Bible to your heart's content. And yo, it's not just for Christians, you can learn about the Bible no matter what your beliefs are.
You can find all sorts of translations, and it's easy to find what you're looking for. Plus, it's free! So if you're a broke college student like me, it's perfect.
But if you really wanna experience the Bible in all its glory, you gotta check out Catholic Mass. They read Scripture like nobody's business, and it's all with purpose and truth. And yo, have you ever heard of The Eucharist? It's Jesus Christ's Real Presence on earth, and there's NO substitute for that.
And don't even get me started on Our Blessed Mother Mary. She's for everyone, not just Catholics. But let me tell you, the Catholic Church knows how to love and fully participate in Marian devotion (but we don't worship her, that's reserved for JC). Mary knows and loves Jesus better than any of us ever could, and she can teach us how to come to, learn about, love, and follow her son... Our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.
So yo, if you wanna get your Bible on, check out BibleGateway and Catholic Mass. You won't regret it. Peace out!
BibleGateway Review: The Ultimate Bible Resource with Multiple Translations and Commentaries
This website is truly a lifesaver in more ways than one! If you're looking for information about the Bible, then this is the go-to place for you! It's incredibly easy to use and navigate, and there are tons of different translations to choose from, so you can pick the one that best suits your needs.
One of the best things about BibleGateway is that you can view several different translations all at once, which is really helpful if you're trying to compare the meanings of different passages. You can even look up specific words and phrases, which is super handy if you're trying to get a better understanding of a particular concept or theme.
Another great feature of BibleGateway is that they have a number of different commentaries available, which give you further insight into what the authors of the Bible might have intended to convey by their messages. This is particularly interesting if you're trying to get a better understanding of the historical context in which certain passages were written.
What's more, this website is also available in a variety of different languages, making it accessible to people all over the world. And if you're looking for something more specific, like a devotional or a reading plan, then BibleGateway has got you covered there as well.
One thing I would love to see added to this website in the future is the inclusion of Greek and Hebrew translations, along with an interlinear Bible featuring links to Strongs numbers. While there are other sites out there that offer these features, I truly believe that BibleGateway is by far the best one out there for most people. And best of all, it's totally free to use!
So if you're looking for a reliable resource for all things Bible, then I highly recommend checking out BibleGateway. It's a fantastic website that's incredibly user-friendly and packed full of useful information.
Review: BibleGateway - The Best Online Bible Study Resource
BibleGateway is a truly amazing site that is without doubt the best place to read and study the Holy Bible. The site is very user-friendly and easy to navigate, making it perfect for use in church. All you need to do is type in the book, chapter, and verse you are looking for, for instance, Matthew 11:24 or Matthew 11 24, and you will be directed straight to the relevant page where you can find the passage you are looking for.
The great thing about BibleGateway is that it instantly takes you to the specific chapter or verse that you are looking for, without any confusion or hassle. Unlike other Bible websites that often display multiple versions of the Bible, full chapters and verses, which can sometimes be overwhelming, BibleGateway is much more focused and direct in its approach. Plus, you won't have to worry about getting lost in the Bible or taking ages to get to the next chapter because the site has a very simple and practical layout.
BibleGateway features the New International Version without any clutter or distractions from other versions such as King James, NRSV, etc. This makes it a great choice for those who prefer a more conventional Bible experience without compromising on the practicality and ease of use of modern technology. Moreover, the intuitive layout of the site means you get a true, authentic Bible feel that's also very practical to use.
I've been using BibleGateway for about two years now, and I have found it to be a great resource for my personal Bible study. The site features an extensive range of Bible versions in many different languages, making it accessible to people from all over the world. But if you're an English speaker, the New International Version is always displayed first, perhaps due to Google's algorithm.
BibleGateway also has an app that you can download on both the App Store and Play Store, but I personally prefer the web version as it's easier to use and familiar to me since I'm used to using Google as my Bible and downloaded pages. I find myself using my phone for reading and studying the Bible more and more often, and in fact, I no longer have to carry a conventional Bible around with me. This has made my life much simpler and more convenient.
Sometimes, older people in my church ask me why I don't use a conventional Bible. They believe that it can be a distraction and that my phone can't possibly be the same as a real Bible. I always tell them that the Bible on my phone is no different from the one that they have. In fact, I remind them that the original Bible was made up of papyrus scrolls that were written and copied by hand, and that technology has simply given us new ways of accessing and studying the Holy Bible.
Overall, I highly recommend BibleGateway to anyone who wants a practical and easy-to-use Bible study resource that still feels like a conventional Bible. And if you're an English speaker, it's simply the best choice out there! God bless you and God bless the USA.
BibleGateway Complaints 3
Convenient and User-Friendly: My Review of BibleGateway
They keep popping up when I'm trying to read the Bible. But, other than that, BibleGateway is pretty useful. You can read and search different translations of the Bible, and even listen to audio versions of it. It's cool that you can also access devotionals and commentaries to help you understand the scripture better. I've used it a lot for Bible studies and it's really convenient to have everything in one place. The site is easy to use and I haven't had any technical issues with it. Overall, I recommend BibleGateway for anyone who wants to read the Bible online.
BibleGateway Review: A Legit Online Bible with Multiple Translations and Features
So I found this website, BibleGateway, and let me tell you, it's pretty legit. I mean, if you're into reading the Bible and all that jazz. The layout is simple enough, with a search bar where you can look up specific passages or keywords. It's got a bunch of different translations too, so you can choose the one that speaks to you the most.
One thing I did notice, though, is that they have these Bible verse images that sometimes pop up. They're pretty cool-looking, but I gotta say, some of them seem a little out of place. Like, I saw one that said "Love your neighbor" while I was scrolling through a news article about some guy getting attacked in the street. I mean, I guess it's a nice sentiment and all, but it just seemed a little tone-deaf, you know?
But overall, I'd recommend BibleGateway if you're looking for a way to read the Bible online. It's pretty straightforward and there's a lot of useful features, like cross-references and footnotes. Just maybe take those verse images with a grain of salt, you feel me?
BibleGateway Review: Great Features, but Scrambled Text is a Major Flaw
BibleGateway website is a place where you can go to read, search, and study the Bible. One of the features it has is the ability to copy and paste passages from the Bible onto your computer, phone, or tablet. But, um, when you paste the text into another document, it comes out scrambled and disorganized.
I mean, really, why would they do that? It doesn't make any sense to me. It's like they are trying to take credit for the text or something. I don't think that is what Jesus would want. He would want us to share His words with others, not try to take credit for them ourselves.
Personally, I just don't like messing with scrambled text. Especially when you're trying to copy and paste something important, like a Bible verse. It just takes too much time and effort to try and figure out what the text is supposed to say.
So, I will not be using BibleGateway anymore. I think there are other, better websites out there that allow you to copy and paste text without any issues. If you're looking for a place to study the Bible, I would suggest trying out some of those other sites instead.
Overall, I think the concept of BibleGateway is great, but the scrambled text feature is not. Hopefully, they will fix it soon so that people can enjoy all the other great features of the site without any annoying issues.
