Bug identification
Def wasnt what iexpected got the same bugidentification on several different bugsit seems like it just isnt focusing enough to identify much ofanythibg if your phone is a top notch new one it may wirk better but for me itwouldnt be worth paying even $1 much less$30!
Paid to subscribe and my photo was identified as a spider
I don’t mind paying for an app but the idea here was to find out what the spider species is. Instead my photo was identified as an insect from the order “Spider”. Nothing else. I’ve cancelled and am requesting a refund from Apple when the initial subscription finishes processing
Misleading, must subscribe to see result
This app appears to be free until JUST before you get to the point that it’ll tell you what the bug is. After you’ve uploaded the photo, it’s like “we know what bug this is! But to see it, you need to pay for a subscription.” Wish I’d known that before wasting my time downloading the app!
Scam
I tried to upload a picture. Well, it wanted me to sign up for a subscription. I didn’t want to pay until I knew it was worth it so I chose the free trial option. Instead of signing me up for the free trial, it went ahead and charged me $7.99. It didn’t even identify the insect correctly. Don’t use this scam.
Not even close to accurate
Said it identified the insect I found but required subscription to reveal the info. I began a trial but instead was charged immediately. Not happy with the bait and switch but proceeded with see what it identified… said it was a cricket. Not even close to a cricket.
Inaccurate and deceptive business practice, avoid!
This is A SCAM I WANT MY MONEY BACK!
I started the free trial , immediately canceled when I needed to identify a single bug & now it is continually charging me $30 every few weeks saying my account is active until 2024. There’s no way to stop it , I can’t even use my iPhone account any more because y’all won’t stop trying to charge me for your stupid scam !
Not enough value
The app was wrong on two verified identifications that I did on my own. Also, there isn’t any additional info to learn about each insect. So basically, you’re
paying 30 bucks a year for getting a general place to start your identification but you can’t trust the result completely. NOT WORTH THE MONEY YET.
MAKE IT BETTER!
TOTAL SCAM—DON’T BUY
Foreign scam. Got tricked into clicking for a free trial only to be told that I had just subscribed. No obvious way to take that back.
Identify an insect with a picture? Right. I sent a picture and was told that it’s….an insect! Stop the presses!
Now I have to figure out how to lodge a complaint to get my money back.
Never got results
I tried multiple times and the “scan process” would stop at 98% and I did not have the prince to wait longer than 3min for a result.
Honestly, goggle reverse photo search was the best! Use the Google app and take a picture of the insect and it will even take you to articles and threads.
Deleted app within an hour of downloading.
Disappointed
This app quickly identifies insects but the photos I take, which are used to ID the bugs, don’t seem to beforwardable by email or message. What gets sent appears to be an invitation to download the app, when all I wanted to do was send the photo to my pest control guy. If that were not the case it would be a 5-star review. Without it it’s just a 3.
Solid
This was a great resource in particular the ask an expert feature. We were worried we had found a brown recluse spider in our home and got multiple conflicting identifications through Nextdoor and the iPhone bug identifier. The identification narrowed it down for us and then we were able to get final confirmation through the ask and expert feature.
No
Must be friends writing reviews because this does not work. I tired about 10 pictures of what I know wasn’t a moth and that’s what is kept classifying it as. So I went a found a clear great picture from Google of a German roach which is one of the earliest bugs to recognize and it misidentified it also tried again with another great Google pic of something else and again it was wrong. Absolutely do not depend on this app.
Failed
I couldn’t take a “clear enough “ picture of a bug no matter how many times I tried, it wouldn’t identify a bug. I took about a dozen pictures of a bug that appeared perfectly clear to me, but the app not only didn’t identify the insect, but it also didn’t store the photos.
I’m deleting this app and installing “Picture insect” in its place.
That series of apps “Picture…” works great. I use them for plants, mushrooms, and birds. Now insects.
Beware of “Trial Membership”
Signed up for the Free 3 day trial membership and my credit card was billed at exactly the 48 hour point. I wasn’t given the opportunity to cancel if I had decided to do so. This is trickery, be aware. I’ve never run into this problem with any other trial membership before, this speaks volumes about their tactics. Unfortunately, there was no way to cancel once they charged my credit card.
Beware, this probably isn’t the first time this has happened to trial users.
Long way to go. Good support
There's a long way for this app to go to be a full "gotta have" app.
There should be a way for them to leverage better images out of Apple devices via the API.
I don't know how robust the back-end database is or if it's connected to an industry recognized source but that would help our immensely as well.
A forwarded shot to their support returned a fairly quick response with the correct identification. If they do nothing more than semi-real-time responses, that still puts this app cleanly in the "worth a try" category.
It’s not free. Just another scam to get your hard earned money
Total crap. Can’t identify unless you subscribe. Sure you can eventually get it to give you a free trial but it’s just a scam to get you to forget u subscribed after looking up one bug and end up paying. Dont waste your time. Spend couple extra minutes searching online just using a description of bug and searching through online pictures. Then get your results for free. I get purpose of apps is to make money. But make it with ads for those who don’t want anything but just to know what they have found. Charge money to those who want to get the premium stuff that really isn’t worth it. It shouldn’t cost a single cent for simply identifying a bug. If you want money for that, then make people watch a really short ad and let the ones who don’t care about money sign up for premium option to get it ad free. That’s my suggestion. I won’t ever sign up for subscription just so you hope I forget about it and you take my money.
Review: Disappointed with Another Money-Grabbing App
Review: Disappointed with Another Money-Grabbing App
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆
I recently came across an app that epitomizes the frustration of paying for something that offers no real value. It seems like the developer had nothing better to do than write an app in an attempt to make money without providing adequate features or value to the users. What's even more frustrating is that they expect you to pay for it without offering a trial period.
This app is a complete waste of time. It lacks any substantial functionality or unique features that would justify its price. It feels like a quick cash-grab rather than a well-thought-out product. I was disappointed to discover that it didn't offer anything new or useful that could enhance my daily activities or provide entertainment.
The absence of a trial period is particularly frustrating. Without the opportunity to try the app before purchasing, I felt pressured to make a blind decision. It's unfair to expect users to pay for something they haven't even had a chance to experience. A trial period would have allowed me to evaluate the app's value and determine if it's worth the investment.
In conclusion, this app is a prime example of the negative experiences that have become all too common in the app market. It lacks innovation, functionality, and fails to deliver any real value. I strongly advise against wasting your time and money on this app. Look elsewhere for apps that genuinely offer what they promise and provide a fair trial period for users to make an informed decision.

Just charge for the app
If you’re just going to charge me $30 to use this product at all then just charge $30 for the app don’t let me download it for free and then not let me scan one single bug to try to figure out what it is. this is very misleading and I do not like it. I’m uninstalling
Insect
Unhelpful. Not worth a dime.

ID Found, but not unless you buy
Found the insect, but would not ID it unless I upgraded from free to paid. First bug picture mind you!

Bad app
Why pay $30 a year for an application that can’t even detect what type of spider I just took a picture of?

Don’t download unless you want to be charged
Chose the free subscription, cancelled before it was over and was still charged for a membership I did not want.

Wow
How are people giving this 5 stars? I want to scan one bug and you can’t even let me do that. I have to pay ridiculous prices? Ok.

Scam * didn’t work and sneaky with the membership charge
Beware… Ap didn’t work and free trial sneakily turned into a yearly membership. If your gonna trick folks at least make the ap work.

Deceptive.not “in app purchases”
There is no use of the app without subscription. You can’t even do one insect ID to see if the app works. At best you have to give credit card for 3 day trial that is auto renews at $24.

Downloaded to verify bug but…
I have Norton which is a protector on my phone and right when I opened the downloaded app, I got a Norton notification saying “unsafe site, we do not recommends using” so be safe out there

Horrible
I have been trying to request my money back for a week - since I paid the subscription I have been able to open the app twice and now it just crashes. Absolute garbage and a scam. Cannot get in contact with developers

Didn’t work
I attempted to identify at least 8 insects- made sure pictures were clear like it said-and it couldn’t ID any of them. Tried to get a refund twice and was denied. Now I’m stuck with a year subscription that doesn’t work.
