Buyee Proxy Service Review: Hidden Fees & Website Issues
Looking for a great proxy purchasing service to help you get items from Japanese stores? While Buyee might meet your needs if you're only looking to purchase one item at a time, our experiences suggest that there are hidden fees and other issues you'll want to be aware of before making a purchase.
One key problem is the inflexible approach taken by Buyee - if your order includes staggered shipments, you might end up paying hefty consolidation fees, or even daily storage fees that quickly add up. Unfortunately, these costs are nearly impossible to predict ahead of time, and could end up strongly impacting the value proposition of using Buyee in the first place.
Beyond these fees, it can also be frustrating to navigate Buyee's website and order process - particularly if you're not comfortable reading Japanese. This issue can lead to mistakes and misorders, like our experience with accidentally getting a postcard and clear file set instead of a poster. While it's nice that they offer refunds, it can be frustrating to find they aren't willing to be flexible when making a mistake like this.
Overall, it's hard to recommend Buyee for most purchases thanks to these issues. While they may have their uses for one-off purchases or similar situations, you'll want to be cautious and well-informed before making a decision.
Buyee Review: Dishonest Company with Poor Customer Service and Blacklisting Policy
As a customer who recently used Buyee (buyee.jp), I must say that my experience with the company was less than satisfactory. Before purchasing an item from Mercari Japan, I came across Buyee's website and their prominent campaign advertising Mercari. Although I was initially intrigued by this promotion, I later found myself regretting using their services.
Firstly, the item I bought was advertised as having "NO visible signs of use/damage," yet upon its arrival, it was clear that the item was old, scratched and discolored. Disappointed with the condition of my purchase, I reached out to Buyee's customer support team immediately to explain the situation. However, their response was unsympathetic and unhelpful; they informed me that because I had opted for their Lite plan, they were not liable for the issue.
Furthermore, when I asked them to leave negative feedback for the seller in question, they refused, stating that they did not wish to receive negative feedback themselves from the seller. As a paying customer, I found this lack of support and unwillingness to take responsibility for their role in facilitating the purchase deeply concerning.
It's worth noting that Buyee's Facebook page does not have a rating feature enabled, which may raise red flags for some customers. As someone who values transparency and honesty in business dealings, this is definitely worrying.
Overall, I believe that Buyee is a dishonest company that fails to uphold the typical standards of Japanese customer service. I, for one, will not be purchasing from them again and will discourage others from doing so. It's disheartening to see a company that claims to be reliable and efficient handle customer complaints and issues in such an unsatisfactory manner. Additionally, I was disturbed to find out that if you choose to open a claim via PayPal because of issues with your Buyee purchase, the company will blacklist you. This kind of behavior only reinforces my belief that Buyee cannot be trusted.

Buyee Review: A Problematic Proxy Service for Purchasing Japanese Items
I recently stumbled upon Buyee through a sponsorship deal with CandyEvie, where she boasted about buying a collection of Japan-exclusive merchandise through their site. Curious to explore this service further, I decided to give Buyee a try.
Buyee is essentially a "proxy" site that enables you to purchase anything from Japan and have it shipped straight to your doorstep. The service was created with the intention of being a platform for individuals who may not have means to access exclusive Japanese items. The site features products from websites like Yahoo Japan Shopping, Yahoo Japan Auction, Rakuten, and several others.
Initially, the process seems simple - browse through the Japanese product listings, select and purchase your desired item. Once you complete payment, Buyee takes over and purchases the product on your behalf, which then gets delivered to their warehouse. From there, the site allows you 30 days to pay for shipping of your product to your home address.
However, this is where the service begins to fall apart. The storage timer for the product you've purchased is already counting down, and all international shipping methods from Japan to Canada (in my case) are completely disabled. This essentially locks me into an unshippable state, with absolutely no means to receive my purchased items.
It begs the question- what happens to the money spent on the product, in such a scenario? It is quite apparent that Buyee keeps the money and resells the product to someone else, resulting in the loss of both money and the product you sought to purchase.
I urge Buyee to rectify this situation and to provide a more reliable and customer-friendly service. It is essential that customers trust your service, and locking them into unshippable states is detrimental to both parties. Let's hope that Buyee takes steps to address these issues and continue to be a platform for exclusive Japanese items.
Buyee Review: Unreliable and Frustrating Service Provider with Overcharges and Inability to Meet Customer Needs
Our experience with Buyee (buyee.jp) started off on a positive note. We were given a credit of 500 yen to write a review, but we believe in being honest and objective in our reviews. Unfortunately, we faced some difficulties that we feel our readers should be aware of before using the service.
Our first concern was with the overcharges on domestic shipping, which sometimes ranged up to 1100 yen (11.00 USD). Although this was eventually corrected, it took several dozen emails to communicate the issue to them and get it resolved. Initially, they were unwilling to admit their mistake.
Another issue we encountered was when we requested for consolidate packaging. Instead of removing the domestic shipping materials and putting the items (watches) into an appropriate size box, Buyee decided to throw the entire lot into an oversized box. This led to a more expensive shipping service being used (EMS). When we asked them to use a smaller box, our request was initially refused with the reason being that they do not have small boxes in stock. We found this strange since shipping forwarding services ought to have an inventory of different-sized boxes to meet the varying needs of customers. After several emails, they finally said they could provide a small box, but at an additional cost of 500 yen (5.00 USD). This left us feeling frustrated as we ship watches internationally in sturdy corrugated e-commerce boxes that cost only 16 cents (USD).
On the whole, we believe that Buyee is an unreliable service provider. They appear unwilling to meet the needs of their customers, and we advise all users to exercise caution when using their services. Despite the initial credit of 500 yen, our experience with Buyee has left us feeling less than satisfied.
Buyee Review: Unreasonable Policies & Arbitrary Fees Make for a Frustrating Experience
In February, I purchased a Twice lightstick for their concert from JYP Japan and opted for international shipping through Buyee. Unfortunately, I was not made aware of their terms and conditions either before or after making my purchase, nor were they readily available on their website. As time passed, I noticed that I had received several emails regarding shipping arrangements, which I found odd and unexpected. When I reached out to cancel my order due to the high shipping fees of $35 and questionable additional fees, I was told that cancellations and changes were not possible after the purchase had been made. I found this policy to be unreasonable and entirely unacceptable.
Despite going back and forth with the customer support team over several emails, I was informed that I would have to pay a plethora of arbitrary and pointless fees if I wished to have my package discarded. I also attempted to remove my credit card from their website but was unable to do so due to outstanding payments. This is an outrageous and unjust process since I own the credit card and should be able to remove it without issue. My experience with Buyee was incredibly frustrating, and I would strongly advise anyone against using their services.
It quickly became apparent that Buyee is a company that will heap fees upon fees as though it were their sole purpose. Their customer support was unhelpful, and their policies seemed more oriented towards taking advantage of unsuspecting customers than towards providing quality service. Don't make the same mistake I did and use this website - you will only be met with a sound rebuff.
I encountered the same.
Negative Review: Avoid Excessive Fees on Buyee.jp Proxy Site
Buyee (buyee.jp) has received a rather negative review from a customer that had a disappointing experience after using the website. Although it is not a scam, they expressed that the proxy is a "bloody money sucker" that charges excessively for everything.
The customer ordered six Digimon dim cards from the same seller, at the same time, but was informed by Buyee that each of the dim cards comes with separate packaging. This resulted in Buyee charging the customer 250yen for each unit's consolidation fees, which totaled 1500yen on top of the shipping fees plus the flat fee per order and the expensive insurance fees of 500yen.
The customer further expressed their disappointment that Buyee charged them an extra 500yen per item on top of their domestic shipping for shipping to a friend's Japanese address. This extra cost was not explained to the customer beforehand, leading to further frustration.
The customer mentions that Buyee's customer service was not helpful when it came to answering questions regarding costs, and charged their users excessively, unlike other proxy websites such as Neokyo, Whiterabbit, and Zenmarket.
As a result, the customer advises others to use other proxy websites instead of Buyee. Their experience left them feeling very agitated, and they vowed never to order from Buyee again. Overall, the customer review highlights the importance of researching other proxy options before choosing Buyee for anyone interested in using a proxy service from Japan.
Buyee Review: Unethical and Dishonest Practices Lead to Damaged Goods and Denied Refund
As a buyer, it is important to be cautious when dealing with various companies online. Unfortunately, the online shopping experience does not always live up to expectations and can often result in negative experiences. This is especially true for those who have had dealings with Buyee, one of the leading online shopping sites based in Japan.
In my experience, I found that Buyee operates unethically and fails to provide its customers with the level of service that they deserve. Even after paying for standard insurance, the company failed to inspect my product as promised and refused to offer me a refund when I received the item damaged. Despite the fact that the seller had advertised that the product was not damaged, I received a poorly packaged and fatally damaged product.
Furthermore, when I reached out to customer service for assistance, I was disappointed to find that there was a clear language barrier which made communication very difficult. This resulted in receiving a canned response to my complaint and ultimately, I was denied my refund.
It is worth noting that Buyee refused to honor their refund policy because they claimed that I had exceeded the 14-day delivery deadline for filing a complaint. However, this was simply untrue, as only 10 days had passed since I placed my order and it had yet to be delivered.
This experience has made it very clear to me that Buyee operates with a no-refund policy that is not based on reason or evidence. They instead prioritize their profits at the expense of their customers who have worked hard to earn their money. It is incredibly disappointing to see a company operate in such an unethical manner and to treat their customers with such disdain.
If you have also experienced similar issues with Buyee, I would encourage you to reach out to the email address provided in order to share your story. It is only through concerted legal effort that we can work to hold companies like Buyee accountable for their cheating practices and unethical behavior.
Buyee Review: Do Not Use This Service When Buying from Yahoo Japan
If you are considering using Buyee (buyee.jp) to purchase items from Yahoo Japan, you may want to think twice before proceeding. I recently used Buyee to buy a brand new Hi Fi amplifier from Yahoo Japan for $1,800 USD (Auction Ref ID: r379264025). It seemed like a good deal at the time, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a bad experience.
While the shipping and delivery process went smoothly and the outer box was in excellent condition, I soon discovered a major issue with the product when I tried to turn it on. The source selection dial did not work at all, making it impossible to switch between CD, phono, Aux, and other modes. At first, I hoped that Buyee would be able to help me resolve the issue, but unfortunately, that was not the case.
When I contacted Buyee about the problem, they asked for some photos to prove the issue. After waiting 24 hours, they informed me that they wouldn't be able to help me. As a result, I am now stuck with a defective product that has no international warranty, since Denon (the manufacturer of the amplifier) does not provide such coverage. The only way to get the issue fixed would be to physically bring the product back to Japan, which is not possible for me due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Overall, my experience with Buyee has been a huge disappointment. They were slow to respond to my requests for photo verification, and when it came down to actually helping me resolve the issue with the defective product, they refused to do so. As a result, I have had to open a chargeback or dispute with my credit card company to try to get my money back. If you are considering using Buyee for any purchases, I would recommend looking elsewhere, as you may end up regretting it later on.
Buyee.jp Review: Avoid for International Shipping and Poor Customer Service
If you are a collector or just want to ship books internationally, I would advise against using Buyee (buyee.jp). I had a terrible experience with this website. Initially, I was given two options for packaging: standard or protective. However, the standard packaging option is only suitable for national shipping and not international shipping. Therefore, the items eventually arrived damaged. On the other hand, the protective option is extremely expensive and causes shipping costs to be blown out of proportion due to the unnecessary amount of materials used.
Additionally, the customer service department was not helpful at all. They seemed nice and friendly, but they lacked the understanding and efficiency required to resolve my issues. I found that I had to repeat myself several times before they could actually comprehend what I was trying to say. When it came to checking on the status of my package, they failed to notify me of its return and forced me to pay the shipping costs again. Furthermore, when I asked for a refund, they ignored my request.
In the end, I had to rely on myself to resolve my problems with Buyee. They lost my trust and I wouldn't recommend their services to anyone. However, I received a full refund for my damaged items after a month of investigation. Despite this, my opinion still stands that the customer experience at Buyee was terrible.
Buyee Online Shopping Review: Frustrating and Costly Experience with Excessive Fees and Lack of Transparency
Buyee is an online shopping website that offers a wide range of products at competitive prices. I had recently made a purchase of three identical items which costed me about $12 each. However, upon checkout, I was shocked to see that the seller had added three additional fees to the item cost, which totaled to about $10. These fees included a Buyee Service Fee of 300yen, a Payment Fee of 200yen, and Plan Fees of 500yen.
To make matters worse, I didn't get any indication of the shipping costs before checkout. It was only after I had made the purchase that I found out that the shipping cost of each item was about $17-19. This brought the total cost of my purchase to a whopping $40, which I found quite steep.
I reached out to the seller and requested that my order be cancelled, but they refused stating that the products were already in their warehouse and ready for shipment. I then asked the seller if they could merge all three items and send them in a single package, but they asked me to log in to my account and pay a fee of 1000yen (about $10 USD) for this service.
I was hesitant to pay this fee without knowing the cost of shipping the merged package, so I contacted the seller again, hoping to get some clarity. But unfortunately, the seller wasn't willing to disclose the cost of merging the package and asked me to apply for it and pay the fee upfront.
This was a disappointing experience, but I thought I had found a way out of it by clicking on the "dispose" option which I thought would allow me to get a refund of the cost of the item. However, despite choosing this option, the seller refused to refund me, stating that the aforementioned fees were non-refundable.
Overall, I found my Buyee experience frustrating and costly. While I appreciate that there are some additional fees when buying online, I feel that the fees charged by Buyee were excessive and not transparent. It would have been more helpful if the seller had indicated the shipping costs upfront before I had made the purchase, and if Buyee had better communication channels with their sellers to ensure that customers could get more clarity on the costs involved.
Won 4 bearbrick auctions from a seller declaring 100% genuine products else full refund. Turned out that all were fakes. Buyee support refused to refund, also prevented me from contacting seller.
I asked whether seller had broken Buyee rules by selling fakes but no reply.
Use Buyee at your own risk as there's no customer support.
