Shoppers Drug Mart

On may 06th 2021 at 9:50 am I went to shoppers to get my daily medication as I have been for about 3 or so months on this particular day. I need some groceries. So I went around and saw a bunch of 2L Oasis smoothie cartoons that were on sale because they were close to expiration so I grabbed 3 2L. I also saw Ice tea was on sale so I grabbed one 2L nof that also. I also grabbed 2 boxes of Kellogg's vector cereal because they had a deal on if you bought 2 boxes at one time you could get a free box sent to you in the mail. So I bought 2 boxes of the vector I also grabbed 4L of bag milk and ice cream. So after I got what I needed I went to the cash register I seen it was the same lady that gave me attitude 2 weeks earlier for putting my stuff on the count when It was going to slip out of my hands. She said I got too close to the other person but If I didn't it would have fallen and most likely broke open. Anyway, this time as I was buying my groceries the lady ringing them asked me if I was sure I wanted the smoothie drinks cause they expired in two days. I said yes and she asked me again and asked if I was sure I said yes I found it really unnecessary. So after I bought my groceries I left. After I left I was maybe 30 to 40 feet away from the store away at most walking toward where the bus on Davenport stop is to catch the bus to go home. While I was walking I was going in my pockets looking for the receipt. I could not find it and I needed it for proof to get the free box of cereal the whole reason I bought the cereal in the first place. I quickly checked my pockets really good and could not find it I quickly looked in the bag and I didnt see it so I turned around and went back. When I arrived back in the store with only 10 minutes before my bus came to stop I quickly walked to the cash register and said to the lady that I bought my groceries from that she did not give me a receipt. She said yes she did. I said no you did not I dont have it in my pockets and I checked the bag quickly and did not see it. She said she knew she gave it to me. I said no you didn't. I asked can't you just print me another one she said she won't until I empty my pocket and prove to her I don't have it. So I did I pulled out everything in all my pockets jeans and jacket and I did not have it all I had was my cell my wallet and my smokes. she then asked me to give her my optimum card and she could print out another one. at this time at least 5 minutes has gone by. So after I emptied my pocket I grabbed what I thought at the time was all my stuff and walked quickly towards the counter to get the receipt. At that time I saw the receipt under the 2L cartoons of the smoothie drink. So I said I did not need it anymore and I left she handed me the other one anyway. So at this time I was super worried I was gonna miss the bus and be stuck walking all the way around the mall with 12 L worth of liquids 2 boxes of cereal and Ice cream. As I was walking fast towards the bus stop I was looking for my cell phone so I could check to see if I was gonna miss the bus. I realized I did not have my cell phone. I had left it on the counter. The lady forced me to empty my pockets to get another receipt. So I turned around and went back for my phone now the second time I had to go back. As I rushed back with all this weight of groceries so I didn't get my cell phone stolen cause I left it on the counter and anyone could walk by and take it. I walked in the store and seen my phone I was happy it was still there. Also at that time I seen the bus go by the stop and I missed the bus. I was not gonna weight cause the next one was 20 minutes away and I could not wait that my ice cream would melt. my only option was to walk around the mall and take the Ion train. at this time the bags I had everything in was stretching. I didn't have my backpack but I had the cereal milk and ice cream in it I believe and the rest was in plastic bags. and Thousands of bags were almost ripped right apart at this time. So I said to the cashier I am returning everything. She asked why I said I was very upset that I was not walking all the way around the mall with all this stuff that's insane I said. I had a louder voice at this time cause I was very tired from all the unnecessary walking and all the anxiety at this time that I suffer from all ready without all this stuff happening. As I was returning the stuff I had a store manager MIKE come over and told me to not talk to the cashier that was I said what was I saying that was offensive all I am pointing out is that if she was painting attention where she put the receipt or asked me if I wanted it in the bag or not and make me aware where it was I would of not missed my bus I would not be all sweaty from all the fast moving and anxiety from almost losing my phone to a possible theft of it from being left on the counter. Instead of saying sorry for the inconvenience he was just pointing out that I was pointing out her mistakes in a stern assertive voice and to some might sound loud if they are naturally a timid person. Mike then said If I want to come back to the store I better stop talking. I then said you are going to infringe on my charter of right freedom of speech? I also said this is social dicrimination all because this store won't take accountability. I am being made out as the bad person, this is [censored] I said. He then demanded my receipts to make the return if not he was not returning it so I handed him the receipts. He then refunded 19.10 but I gave the lady a 20 dollar bill so I was confused how that worked. I then said to mike that I only wanted to return the liquids minus the milk. So he gave me the change from the start total of 19.10 when I gave he a 20 when I bought the food. Also Mike did not charge me for the ice cream and I have no problem still paying for it. It was on sale that week for 2.99 for breyers ice cream. So after Mike gave me my money the items and the boxes of vector the milk and ice cream I believe were still in my bag he then said I am not banned from the store I said you can't do that I get medication here each day I need he said too bad should've thought about that before you opened your big mouth. I said this is harse illegal this is social discrimination. he said if I didnt leave he was gonna call the cops and have me arrested and I am not allowed to come on the property ether. I said you can't do that if you don't own the parking lot. He said if I see you I will call the police. So Mike threatened me with police if I came back to the mall parking lots or came back there to get my medication I NEED EVERY DAY. I take methadone. I had surgery last year and they gave me hydromorphone for pain medication and in turn gave me a opioid dependency so hence the treatment and the fact that each week I go down on the medication to get off of the dependency this kind of stress is really unwanted or needed in anyway if I did not think up away to get my medication I would of went threw withdraw cause of mike blaming me for his employees not even remembering if she handed me a receipt or put it in the bag and then made me empty my pocket to prove I was not stealing a receipt or whatever the need to empty my pockets to prove it was not in my possession. Then the chain of events unfolded and your employees made a mistake to not inform me about my report where it was going cause in life we can't not just assume what another person will or has done. I am considering filing a human rights complaint. But not sure it will just cause me more mental health issues and I can't take all this added stress just filling this out has caused me all kinds of mental stress.
