Shoppers Drug Mart Unwilling to fix or compensate for their mistakes.

On Feb 27, 2025 my Dr. faxed in a prescription for pain..to Shoppers Drug Mart Deer Valley location in Calgary.. An hour or so after, my elderly father was close by and he went to pick up my prescription, as he knew I was in excruciating pain. I sent him a letter saying he could pick up the medication and my info. It clearly stated the name of the drug to be picked up. He waited for 30 min. The pharmacist quickly flashed the filled prescription at my father, asked if that was right and plunked it back in the bag. My dad had no idea if it was right. He paid the dispensing fee and dropped it off to me. Much to my shock it was an auto renewable prescription I get. Not what I was expecting. It sounded close to what I had asked for. I phoned the pharmacy and the lady on the other end refused to listen and told me that this was the auto renew prescription so just keep it and use it when ever I needed the refill. I told her there was a mix up in the prescription names and that the refill wasn't asked for nor was it even ready to be auto renewed for another month. She started getting rude. After she put me on hold for awhile, she just waved the problem off, would not acknowledge a mistake had been made, and told me to come back in half an hour to pick up the right one. I explain to her how incredibly inconvenient and difficult it would be for me to come in because of the excruciating pain I was in and she really didn't give a rats butt. I asked if they would waive the dispensing fee and she put me back on hold. The answer was no, they can't do that. There was no apology for their mix up and inconvenience they have caused me. They could have offered to deliver for free and acknowledged their mistake, mistakes do happen, but instead I'm arguing with her about auto renew and ignored the real issue. This pharmacy team has very little time to discuss issues, has a difficult time locatung my prescriptions when I fo come in to get them, and friendly customer service is a thing of the past. They do not call anymore when there could be a potential risk of allergic reaction, they don't explain a new drug to the customer, nothing. Will pick up my prescription while in excruciating pain and will take my business elsewhere. I have been a shoppers pharmacy client for 25 or more years. This is unacceptable.

Recommendation: Go somewhere else..

Shoppers Drug Mart Perfume sampler gift card

I would have given minus stars if I could.

I tried to redeem a perfume sampler gift card at Shoppers Drug Mart and was told I could not. I had the entire sampler box with all the little minis and the pamphlet insert included when I went to the store. I was informed I would need to call a customer service #. After a 20 minute wait I was told that I would receive an email to move forward with the process. I had to give all my personal information and then was told that I would need to mail my gift card to Toronto so it could be investigated. That it would take approximately 1 month before they would tell me the outcome of the investigation.

WTF! Just using a gift card the way it was designed to be used. Then treated like a criminal and made to forfeit the card to even move forward.

Company made $861 million dollar profit last year. Perhaps by not honouring their own gift card policy and stealing from their customers.

I will never purchase a gift card from them again and will boycott their stores over this experience.

Recommendation: Boycott Shopper's Drug Mart

Shoppers Drug Mart Do not buy shoppers drug mart gift cards

During Christmas, I bought 3 sets of perfume/cologne sampler sets from Shoppers Drug Mart. One was just for me. When I purchased the sets, I specifically asked if there was an expiry date on them. I was told “no”!

I wanted to redeem the voucher the other night (Wednesday, November 13, 2024) and was told that they could not help me and that I would have to call Customer Service. I was confused. When I called customer service, I was told that a lot of these cards are being copied and they would have to investigate.

I want my perfume or they can refund me.

Why is it that you don't even need a receipt at places like Costco or Home Depot? They can look up what you purchased and how much you paid, ON THE SPOT! Shoppers Drug Mart has to do better. If people are buying gift cards, the recipient shouldn't have to fight with the store to redeem their voucher.
My mother received an ESSO gas card for Christmas. When she went to use it, the amount was $0! I called ESSO for her. Over the phone, they were able to tell me when and where the card was purchased and who used it. They mailed my mother a replacement card with 5 business days. That is a company that stands behind their product!

Recommendation: Never buy gift cards/perfume samplers from Shoppers Drug Mart - they are comprised and not honoured

I have also had this experience. I am being told I have to ship my perfume gift card to Toronto so it can go through an investigation, as though I am a common criminal. Then after a month they will let me know if they will somehow validate it. Only I have to give up my gift card and be investigated just for trying to redeem the gift card. I even had the whole sampler box and pamphlets with me in the store when I tried to use it!

Shoppers made a profit of $861 million dollars in 2024 and they are treating their customers like criminals!

Shoppers Drug Mart Poor Customer Service costs disabled man 50 Dollars

Purchased a chatter card for 5o dollars at the midland store. Shoppers does something that i have never seen any other store they print the chatter code on a separate piece besides on the receipt. So i lost the code sheet but still had the receipt. I am told that nothing can be done to retrieve the code. The fact that its impossible to get chatter to talk to any human service is as dad as having the cashier not staple but tape the receipt and code together. I wonder how many times this has happened to other people . I am never buying from this store again.

Recommendation: Put the code on the receipt or simply staple the code sheet to the receipt

Shoppers Drug Mart Sooke Shoppers - Not a good place to get a prescription filled

Yet again, for at least the 4th time this year, they have managed to lose or screw up a prescription. Its almost like they have too many customers and have stopped actually trying to do it right. Being told "we haven't gotten to it yet" then lied to when you come back, then the prescription just being filled incorrectly, it does seem fairly apparent that they really need to lose a lot of their business to the other two pharmacies in town (or accidentally kill someone) before anyone there is going to care. Will try the other pharmacies and see if i can get a better outcome

Recommendation: Try the other pharmacies in town instead

Canceled my filled prescription and did not bother to tell me. When I got there and going through 4 people they figured out that they had Canceled my prescription and gave to someone because of a shortage, I am a senior and depend on someone to take me to pickup my prescription, had they texted me I wouldn't have called my friend to take me to the pharmacy. Shoppers Drug Mart No public washrooms.

You would think a store that big could accommodate customers who spend tons of money there. But no. You are told to go to SOBEYS or A&W to use a washroom

I hope, this catches up with Shoppers and affects them. After all, YOU depend on people to thrive. No respect for your customers. It isn't cool. You have lost my business completely. I will tell everyone I know to go elsewhere.

Recommendation: Avoid this store as they have disrepect for customers in the fact they don't have washrooms.n

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with our experience today at your Shoppers Drug Mart 1077 North Service Road, Mississauga, ON, specifically regarding our COVID-19 vaccine booster appointment.

Upon arriving at the pharmacy for our 4:30 pm appointment on 10/13/2023, we were informed by the Pharmacist, Mina Shenouda, that only the older COVID vaccine was available. This lack of transparency was a concern, as it was not indicated on your website.

What compounded our dissatisfaction was the pharmacist's dismissive and condescending attitude. When my husband raised concerns, the pharmacist failed to offer any apology or explanation. Furthermore, the pharmacist offered to apply the older vaccine, which we declined as it was not what we had booked for.

We believe that your website should clearly state vaccine availability. However, the pharmacist did not address our concerns properly and offered limited choices, failing to provide constructive assistance.

As senior citizens, we had taken considerable effort to book the appointment and drive 5 kilometers to your pharmacy. We expected respectful treatment and better service.

In the interest of public health and safety, it is vital for healthcare providers like Shoppers Drug Mart to provide accurate information and compassionate service, especially to seniors.

We hope our feedback will prompt improvements and appreciate your response to this complaint.

I would give a negative rating if there was an option.

Recommendation: We cannot recommend Shoppers Drug Mart for COVID-19 vaccinations based on our experience. We suggest government facilities for a higher level of service and transparency.

Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacy

My doctor sent in an emergency prescription via fax on May 28th 2025. I had my purse stollen which contained my anti-depressant (Venlaflaxine). I have to take this daily or there is severe withdrawal symptoms. I called later that day to see if Shoppers Drug Mart had received the fax and explained my situation that I needed it the next morning. They said it would be ready. I called in the morning and they said it wasn't in the system and I explained my situation again and they said it would be ready later that day. I called again it wasn't ready. I'm lucky enough that my roommate is on the same medication and dose so I got 2 pills from him. The next day which was now the 30th I decided to go into Shoppers to see if it was ready. Again the same response. It was even started. I explained again and she said they would get me a 7 day supply and to come back at 5pm. I called again it wasn't ready. This morning which is the 31st I called again and it still hasn't been done. This is a very serious matter. They cannot mess with peoples medication. On top of that they kept lying to me instead of tell me that they were busy. I could have gone to another pharmacy. This is not good. And this isn't the only time it's happened. I will be going to a different pharmacy from now on. But I wanted to make it aware so something can be done about it and it doesn't happen to other people.

Desired outcome: For the pharmacy to hire more people if they are busy or maybe replace the current staff.

Shoppers Drug Mart Continuous out of stock sales items

I can't tell you how often I have been into a Shoppers Drug Mart in the past year to pick up 10% coffee cream that was advertised on sale only to find the shelves empty and none in the back (5 times in the past week alone but numerous times when other times it was on sale). I was told by the most current store I went to, that they only order 8 litres at a time and can only fit 5 on their shelf. I constantly told to come back after they get a delivery only to be met with excuses that are perhaps legitimate but nonetheless irritating and repetive.

I get they have limited storage, but if you're going to have a sale on a particular item, then bring more in. Yes I have a raincheck for the product, but as a senior, I don't appreciate navigating icy parking lots in the winter to pick up coffee cream for a family member on disability, only to find that they never seem to have any product.

My husband has his paid for in full by his work and not sure if the shoppers we use are that messed up or double dipping but he at one time had nine months extra worth of blister packs. Shoppers Drug Mart Store in general!

I wanted to inform corporate about my store experience! I have been shopping with the Millwoods location in Edmonton Alberta for YEARS spending 3-600$ every time I go in there and the last couple times I have gone in and been followed quite brutally! Do you know and understand how humiliating it is for someone to be breathing down your neck or staring at you like you've done something wrong when I've done nothing but spend my hard earned money in your store!? The looks people give you it's just DEGRADING AND HUMILIATING! If this was the 1st or even 2nd time I'd let it go but it's going on now the 9th or 10th and I am SICK OF IT!

Desired outcome: I want them to make it right some how for the continued treatment especially when I've been in there most times with my 2 young sons and yet they still follow me around like a common criminal!

Shoppers Drug Mart Customer service

I have tried to place an online order for a week. Customer care could not help me even though the issue was technical issues on your part. Went to store and manager said he could not help me. Called customer care and they promised to escalate and response within 24-48 hours. No response. I emailed customer care asking who I can speak to for complaint. I asked to please not ignore my email. No response. I called again and was told that someone would contact me asap. No response. I emailed again and asked to please not ignore me. No response. My last email today said this is my last attempt to get response. No response. PLEASE DONT IGNORE THIS MESSAGE. Cell [protected]

Worst experience I have ever had in my life, Since I was going for a big purchase and saw some offers on Cerave in the shoppers website, I went in for the first time, in the middle of my purchase suddenly got asked to get out of the store for no reason, out of the blue, I was harassed, accused of possible thievery without a single shred of proof, at the end I had to stop in the middle of purchase, I yelled at the [censored] manager and bought all the items I had in my basket and stormed out. Lucky for the store and the guy there is only one store that is in wallaceburg and close to where I actually work , If that guy is ever there I am never buying anything there, he has the customer relationship skills of a crab. I have no idea how he even got hired to handle customers in the first place. He was such an [censored]. I have never met such kind of irresponsible and rude employee ever before. I was going to buy 6 months worth of products today, but had to stop the purchase because he ruined my whole day, just FYI I still had 150 dollars worth of stuff inside my basket and paid for it and stormed out, I wish I had gotten his name, as for the guy who accused me and assumed, never come near me again when I go shopping, next time I am calling cops for harassment.

Shoppers Drug Mart Case 17750161

I could not send out a order on-line due to business system glitch on Jan 24, 2024. In next couple days, I called shoppers and tried everything I could per instructions from shoppers by e-mails and customer service. Finally I could send out the order successfully on Feb 12, 2024, However the promotion ended and product prices were increased. Before clicking the sending button, I called shoppers again and was told by customer service that the prices would be adjusted per discounted prices plus $50 bonus points per promotion on Jan 24 once I send out the order now. So I placed a order on Feb 12, 2024 and I also double checked with customer service after I received order I placed under shoppers promise. I was still promised by customer service that the $50 bonus point plus converted points from discounted prices (including compensation points due to inconvenience caused by shopper's system) would be put in my account by the first week of March. Until I saw a e-mail from shoppers today, I realized shoppers could not keep their promise to give me the promotion prices and points I was supposed to get on Jan 24. As a big company with good reputation, I do not think it is proper way to do business by fooling customer like this.

Claimed loss: I paid lots of time and energy on calling customer services and sending e-mails back and forth for nothing

Desired outcome: I hope any big company like shoppers should respect customers by keeping their promise in order to keep their reputation

Shoppers Drug Mart Joker prepaid visa

I bought a 200$ jokervisa prepaid card from shoppers drug mart, Stanley St, brantford, on. I get home hold on to it for a couple days I then activated it, within literal hours the card had been wiped clean of my entire 200$. The joker company has been contacted and apparently doing an investigation will take 7 -10 days. But other people I've talked to has had similar issues from shoppers. I don't know if this has anything to do with shoppers or what, but 200$ is a lot to spend and not get what I paid for. I'm totally blown away by this situation. For one you should immediately take joker prepaid cards off the shelves. Now I'm not really sure how this happened to me but I am lookn for my money back. I will be looking forward to hearing from

Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacy

To whom it may concern,

I am absolutely enraged with the shoppers drug mart located at 10835 city parkway in Surrey BC. My partner has been receiving her prescription medication at said location for over a year now. They used to have great customer service, However lately they have become very inconsiderate and rude.

Today we get to the location 5 minutes to closing and are refused service! I even explained that it is prescribed medication which has already been filled and that she is going to be without her VERY important prescribed medication. Only to have a door closed in my face and to be told no!

This is just completely unacceptable and I will be charging shoppers if this results in seizures and a hospital visit tonight because of her being without medication!

Shoppers Drug Mart Incorrect prescription

This pharmacy always messing up with Prescriptions. Waiting time is always 1-2hrs and most of the time even more.. I had to come 3 times in a row because they didn’t dispensed correct medications. Pharmacist, Ashvrin Jan told that you have to check the medication what you take from us. Is this even applicable when there is Refill? Shouldn’t they do refilling correct as prescribed by the doctor? Why do we need a pharmacist in this matter if they don’t want to take the ownership of what they do? This is ridiculous. Shoppers Drug Mart Deliver driver of narcotics

On January 27th 2024 at around 7:30pm a delivery driver was doing a delivery to my home and refused to give me my prescriptions because I was recording him. I have been dealing with trying to get my delivery of medications to me since Tuesday January 23rd to no avail. I had called every morning since Tuesday and was told the delivery driver has them. No delivery Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and even Friday when the driver took off with my meds that I have not had all week because the driver had them in his car all week. I needed those pills for my Mental health and for pain. The driver took off with 100 Alprazolam.5mg and 120 Tylenol #4's and refused to give them to me. What?

I called 911 immediately and made a Police report with the Waterloo Regional Police Services about the incident. I was livid on how a delivery driver on a power trip can refuse delivery of medications especially narcotics to a client in severe pain. That is not allowable and pending charges should be filed. I did not threatening or harass the driver I only recorded him to find out why my medications had not been delivered since Tuesday. The driver just took off and left. I am not happy and would like this issue resolved and the driver spoke to about this incident so this does not happen to me or anyone else. Thank you for your time.

Desired outcome: Talk to driver about my complaint and reprimand. Make sure this never happens Canada wide. Make sure that when delivering Schedule 4 Narcotics to call the client instead of leaving them between the doors of my house.

Shoppers Drug Mart wrong pricing, cashier attitude, manager attitude, hiding name tag

Country harvest bread 2 for 7 dollars. I got two loves expected to pay 7 dollars. Checked bill charged 4.29 each. Complained but no good. Asked for manager lady came and said 4.29 the price. I objected and wanted her name. She covered name tag with her hand. Manager and cashier laugh and say to bad. I took pic of display saying 2 for 7 dollars. The shoppers store I go to is only getting worse.

Shoppers Drug Mart Horrible pharmacy experience

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at your pharmacy on December 1st 2023. I have been a loyal customer of Shoppers Drug Mart for many years, but the treatment I encountered during my last visit was unacceptable and compelled me to bring this to your attention. On the aforementioned date, I had a severe allergic reaction that caused me extreme itchiness and distress, so i had visited the doctor and had the doctor sent out the prescription at 9:12 am to the shoppers drug mart pharmacy at 2920 Major Mackenzie Dr E, markham, ON. Given the urgency of my condition, I approached the pharmacy staff, hoping for a prompt and compassionate response and asked the estimated timeline. They told me that it can be done by noon. Then at 11: 10 am the itchiness is killing me, so i called again to see if they can prepare it earlier. I was hoping that they can have some empathy and understand my distress and discomfort and give me the medicine quicker. Unfortunately, the opposite occurred. Despite my clear distress and explicit pleas for expedited service, I was met with what I perceived as indifference and a lack of urgency from the pharmacist on duty. I believe it is the manager in the shoppers drug mart. The pharmacist's demeanor was not only unprofessional but also appeared unsympathetic to my medical emergency. He just repeated that i need to go to emergency and wait for 5 hours for nothing and waste emergency doctors' time while i have my medicine prescription ready from my family doctor. I understand that pharmacists must adhere to certain protocols, but I believe that a situation involving allergic reactions warrants a degree of empathy and efficiency that was sorely lacking during my visit. I had a mental breakdown. I think It is crucial for pharmacy staff to balance procedural compliance with the ability to assess the severity of a customer's condition and act accordingly. I trust that Shoppers Drug Mart values its customers and their health and that this incident will be taken seriously. I would appreciate a response to this letter, outlining any actions that will be taken to address this issue and prevent this happen again. In the end, I hope that that horrible and unsympathetic pharmacist manager will never ever get sick in his life and will never ever experience this hopeless itchiness himself.

Shoppers Drug Mart Price of benadryl 100

I purchased a box of Benadryl pills (100) on November 30th at your Dupont Street store (292) invoice # 990212811030003888306 for $33.99.

When I was at the Loblaws Christie and Dupont store later that day for a flu shot I found the exact same Benadryl for $23.00. in their pharmacy.

How can you charge $11.00 more than another drug store?

Unfortunately I had opened the package or I would have returned it.
