California Pools & Landscape There should be an option for no stars

There should be an option for no stars. We signed our contract, picked out our materials and gave the down payment the last week of Dec 2021. Here it is the middle of August and the last thing that was done was the shotcrete on July 7th and we are just waiting. The only communication I get is through their app. We were even told by Cal Pools to use the app and not contact them directly. We have a new Construction Manager that we have never meet. Any time there is an issue I am the one that calls Cal Pools to let them know. Electrical was not dug deep enough so I called and let them know. Cal Pools signed off on the inspection and then the City Inspector comes out and says electric is not dug deep enough. It took Four! tries to get the Electrical dug correctly since 2 times when they came out they said they were not doing the work. Really this should be a complaint since our pool and backyard are not finished.

Signed my CPL *** on 10/29. Still waiting for completion. There is practically no communication from them as to the schedule and whos going to be here when or what theyre doing. There have been several mistakes made that I now just have to live with. They have had the same excuses every time, we cant get the materials, our subs cant keep laborers, just hang in there with us youll be happy with the end results. Well Im not happy and its been long enough to get a pool completed - 10 months - industrial buildings go *** in about 3 weeks?!? This has been the most horrible experience Ive ever had with a pool and Ive built 2 this is my 3rd

Our pool is finally complete and we are swimming!. Awesome pool, have received many great praises from neighbors and friends, we love it!. The period from start to finish was long (10 months) but, we were very aware of time involved when signing the contract. We would like to give a big shout out to all involved in this project especially *** and ***, communication and coordination was awesome, crews on every phase were outstanding and clean never a mess. We can honestly state we had no issues with anyone or the process. I highly recommend CAL *** would do this all over again.

California Pools & Landscape California Pools & Landscape built our pool and spa

California Pools & Landscape built our pool and spa. From design to finished product we were extremely happy. Our project turned out to be everything we wanted. *** was our design consultant and was able to give us exactly what we were looking for. *** designed the whole project for us including the landscaping. He produced a video that showed us exactly what our finished product would look like. The whole project went smoothly and was completed in a timely manner. The trades were very professional and knowledgeable. *** with Midstate Landscaping did our hardscape and did a stellar job. We were impressed with the cleanup after each phase of the project. Our project included pool, spa, landscaping, and firepit. We added some fire bowls which added that special resort look. We have recommended them to a few of our neighbors and their projects have been started. We highly recommend this company for your pool and spa project.

Very professional from start to finish. Communicated right away when there was a delay at any stage of construction and kept me informed when the crew were scheduled to be on site. The final product came out looking better than I thought. Highly recommend California Pools if you are considering doing any construction in your backyard.

California Pools built my pool 20 years ago, renovated it in 2018 and *** it from time to time, as I do most of the maintenance. Their warranty is outstanding and their work is excellent. Recently, I had a service call and *** came to repair my salt system. He was prompt, courteous and professional. We have been very happy with our pool and have had years of enjoyment in it! Thank you California Pools!

All I have to say is buyer beware; I have no doubt this company at a point was great! But as of right now I can't say that. Research and take time in looking up reviews online, that is what I did. I pushed them aside thinking that could not be the case, I regret every minute of it. The project has taken over a year, which is understandable given the supply chain issues. But after going through 3 Construction Managers, and numerous delays cause by incompetency from their staff, each time the issue was red flagged in a timely matter. Only to question each red flag, from an issue with the Baja shelf not being installed on time, to sunken bar steps being poorly measured and poured.items not ordered on time.Too many issues to list, went as far as reaching out to one of the founders back in June 2022. At this point, a top construction manager was brought into the project to address my issues. It is 8/02/2022 and the punch list seems to be more excruciating than the project itself. Also, 100% of the payment was done pack in MAY 2022 As a consumer I have to speak out, especially if the consumer entered a binding contract with this company:What I want the reader to take out of this:-Will I ever do business with them again? NOOOOOO -If there was an amendment to the contract, where a 10% retainer was held by the consumer until the project was done, This complaint maybe would have never been posted. -The headaches and stress this has been I don't wish it on anyone.

California Pools & Landscape Our pool was completed last week

Our pool was completed last week. We are very happy with the time frame it was completed even with the delays due to the post pandemic material and labor shortages. We are happy with workers who demolished and then rebuilt the inside of our pool. They all knew their job and arrived each day and worked until it was completed. That's very important anytime you hire workers. We are very happy with the colors we selected. Thank you to our designer for his guidance in color choices. Our construction manager was here to make sure everything went well as the pool progressed. Thank you. A big thank you to our scheduling manager who took my phone calls/portal messages and explained in detail anything I did not understand. Yes we would recommend California Pools. We feel we got our money's worth with this project. That's a very important comment to be able to make. Happy the work was completed just in time for the summer heat. Thank you to all of you for your professionalism."

California Pools & Landscape California Pools and Landscape recently completed a pool and hardscape remodel in our backyard

California Pools and Landscape recently completed a pool and hardscape remodel in our backyard. We understood going into this project that there were some supplier and contractor delays to be expected during this unusually busy time for pool and construction businesses. While our project took a couple of weeks longer to complete than estimated, the work was done to our total satisfaction. California Pools kept us apprised of all steps in the process, as well as time frames and dates to expect contractors to be on site. All California Pools employees we interacted with were professional, knowledgeable and willing to work with us regarding scheduling. Our project supervisor, ***., was always in communication with us and on site when needed. His depth of knowledge in building pools was invaluable to our project. *** V., our project coordinator, was always there for us whenever we called. Her communication skills and willingness to do whatever it takes to satisfy the customer are remarkable. All of the contractors involved in our project were professional, always showed up as planned and helpful at every turn. We are totally satisfied with our completed project. We would highly recommend California Pools and Landscape to anyone looking for a new pool or remodel.

I actually find it quite suspicious to see so many 5 star reviews considering the difficulties we are being told so many of the California Pools customers are having right now getting shotcrete. We signed our contract in October and were told to anticipate about a 7-month time frame. We dug at the end of January, and work after that was consistently completed at about 2-3 week intervals for each stage. That is until we got to shotcrete. Right after that, we passed our first city inspection, and we were then informed of a concrete shortage that would delay our shotcrete for another *** weeks. When we were informed of this shortage in April, California Pools informed us they were still trying to put shotcrete in pools that were dug in October(!) and to be fair to all considering this sudden shortage, they were putting everyone back in line and starting with pools dug first. At the same time, we were receiving email advertisesments from California pool about buying now and swimming by summer! I suspect they are saving their concete alottment for larger, more expensive projects so that they can line their pockets and those more modest pools (like mine) are waiting in the queue until this concrete shortage clears up a bit. There is not other explanation I can think of, particularly since another commenter here recently posted that he signed in October and had a completed pool by May 25. Another frustration is that there is absolutely no leadership involvement in these shortages. Every week we get some canned message from the same guy that basically says 'LEADERSHIP IS WORKING HARD TO RESOLVE THIS' but any message you send or ask to elevate goes absolutely no where. I have a half a mind to contact the *** and 3 on your side at this point due concerns for deceptive business practices, and if there are THAT many people out there still waiting for CalPools to finish the job, I would imagine they'd be interested in considering the same.

Today is 6/4/2022. California Pools over sells their product and then delays the project indefinity. I have taken the notes and screen shots of their promises followed by even more significant delays. I understand that there are delays are caused by contractors and supply issue. However, These delays are self indused by California Pools for overselling their product without have the contractors to complete the work. For example, my neighbors sarted his pool 3/5/2022 and was able to complete all phases up to shotcrete in less than 3 weeks . California pools took 14 months to do the same amount of work. California pools are professionally carrot danglers. This review is to warn potential Calpool customers of the realistic expectation based on my personal experience. I was told in February that the pool would be completed 4 months after excavation. My expectation for project completion was October . Feb 2021. Started consultation with Cal Pools. 3/2 Project submitted and contract signed 3/31 CAD Completed 5/19 Layout completed 8/3 excavation completed 10/6 plumbing completed 12/14 Steel Completed 1/28/22 Electrical Completed 3/14/22 City Inspection Completed 5/04/22 Shotcrete Completed 6/4/2022 Still wait on tile, cleanup, inspection, pebble tech, fixtures, electrical. An example of one of the delays was the city inspection before shotcrete. After the Electric Phase there is a CM quality check before the city inspection. Electrical was completed on January 28, 2022. Because of errors, mistakes, and lack of planning the city inspection failed multiple time and wasnt completed until March 14, 2022. It took 1.5 months to complete a simple inspection. This was not related to contractors and supplies but just lack of planning by California Pools Another example is that they lack the consideration to consult with me when they installed the plumbing on the side of my house. Without discussion, they installed these vertical pipe

California Pools & Landscape Our family was included in the pool and landscape planning by the Project Manager

Our family was included in the pool and landscape planning by the Project Manager. We evaluated five pool companies and chose Cal Pools for their meticulous attention and communication. The complexity and cost of a pool project demand a detail-oriented and caring team. Since May , the team has shown patience, providing clear timelines, addressing challenges, and maintaining constant communication through a progress-tracking app. Responses are prompt and efficient. Despite the time required for pool projects, we are confident in the quality of work. We value their honesty and respect in communicating project difficulties. When the Project Manager commits, the task is completed. We highly recommend Cal Pools and have enjoyed the process.

California Pools & Landscape I can't praise CalPool enough for their exceptional service

I can't praise CalPool enough for their exceptional service. After relocating, we stumbled upon their establishment while fetching some lighting. Our new property required major hardscaping and landscaping, and we were clueless about who to contact. Discovering CalPool was a stroke of luck. Upon entering, we were warmly welcomed, making us feel uniquely important. We met our project manager, who attentively listened to our backyard vision and budget, swiftly sketching a preliminary design. His expertise was evident. Throughout the project, CalPool maintained excellent communication, accommodating any modifications we desired. The on-site superintendent and trade managers were true professionals, punctual, and completed tasks on schedule, even under budget. The transformation was stunning, turning our backyard into a year-round haven. Our gratitude goes out to the entire CalPool team for their dedication.

California Pools & Landscape If you want a company who meets deadlines and time frames I wouldn't recommend cal pools

If you want a company who meets deadlines and time frames I wouldn't recommend cal pools. If you want a company who is good at communicating and returning calls , cal pools is not for you. We are in the middle of a getting our pool put in and it's been a headache. Started design and all the stuff back in December. Everyone was very friendly and strong communication was excellent. As soon as we sign and gave deposit that went down hill. We got funded Jan 3rd and they didn't start until late January. They say refer to the "portal" which is garbage and not helpful at all, we call and leave messages with no responses for days and have to call until we reach someone. Had a hole dug for weeks wondering when the next step would be. Finally after 5 phone calls finally someone just showed up outta the blue. We made a change back on dec 3rd to go with a different material and that's the stage we're at and guess what they just put the change order in last week saying we just made the change but we have proof that's a lie. The change was for pavers which is pretty much the last step but they won't start with everything else until those get in because they don't want to send a crew out twice when material is sitting in my yard ready to go in. What a joke. They said pavers are a "few" weeks out which pushes out due date even further back then the time frame they told us.

California Pools is an excellent company and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is either looking for a backyard overhaul or wants a new pool installation. My Husband and I recently decided that our backyard desperately needed a makeover. We contacted California Pools, and they sent out *** (our project manager). *** was great from beginning to end of our project, he completely understood the look that we were going for. With his design he turned our backyard from a place that I avoided being to someplace that I can enjoy spending time. I would highly recommend *** as a project manager, he addressed and took care of any and all concerns we had during our project.Everyone at California Pools was amazing to deal with, *** (the construction office manager) kept in excellent contact with us. She let us know when people would be doing work at our house and she let us know exactly what to expect. The different crews from the demo to the landscape crews that were at our house were all extremely respectful of us and our neighbors. They kept our backyard cleaned up during to construction process and made it as painless as possible.Hands down California Pools is the best pool company in the valley and I would happily choose them again for future project and would recommend them to anyone! We could not be happier with our backyard and can't wait for it to be warm enough to enjoy our pool."

California Pools & Landscape I signed my contract April and was told that because of their reputation and standing they wouldnt have delays

I signed my contract April and was told that because of their reputation and standing they wouldnt have delays. The pool couldnt start until I closed on my new construction home in August. Was told work would start when I closed on August 4. Instead, work didnt begin for months, 6-8 weeks in between trades, then each trade had to be corrected. Each time the next phase was scheduled, it was canceled and was told they had minor fixes. Gas had to be moved, electric had to be fixed, rebar repaired and the drain hole dug out deeper. Seems more than minor. The electrical hose is currently sticking out of ground va laying flat under shotcrete. Shotcrete was done in March. Its end of May and they are, for the 3rd time supposed to begin coping. The equipment fence was installed after 2 attempts, incorrectly. So that is being fixed next. I have no confidence in this company. They lack any communication other than the person I have now (most of the communication has been very poor) the filed person has done his best to apologize on behalf of the company, but it should be coming from higher up. Own that you took on too many projects and dont have a solid system in place. Focus on customer satisfaction. Ive been charged several fees when I canceled landscape because my neighbors who used them were unhappy with their finished product. 13 months and still not done - double the timeframe I was promised. There should be someone held accountable. I hope all the complaints they are receiving on several platforms makes a difference vs them burying them with older 5 star reviews.

California Pools & Landscape We signed with California Pools in April

We signed with California Pools in April . We knew there was a delay in materials and work, and that the completion time would be longer than normal. Instead of 2-3 months, it'd be 6-7 months. We didn't have our pool dug until 6 months after we signed the contract. We are continuously getting timeframes that seem reasonable to then not hear anything from anyone, and our wait times go from 4-5 weeks to 12 weeks between steps. Here we are 12 months out and we have shotcrete. We have been sitting with shotcrete for almost 4 weeks and our estimated next steps (hardscape) is scheduled in about 3 weeks from now. Other dates for progress on the pool go into July right now. This is absolutely uncalled for. No one from California has reached out to apology for the excessive delays. No one has tried to see how they can satisfy the customer, or help out or relieve the stress and frustration of being promised a certain timeframe and we're almost doubled that time. California says they pride themselves on communication, but the only time anyone talks to us is if I call and complain and it doesn't matter when I complain. Our PM says he promises a great product in the end, but if the process is horrible and customer service is horrible, even if the product is great, I'm definitely not recommending the company to anyone else. Everyone keeps hiding instead of owning up to the fact that they have taken on too much work and can't complete it timely. We have an amazing CM and the latest scheduler we have is the best of the 4-5 we have had, but unfortunately doesn't make up for these timeframes. We have no confidence in California Pools finishing this project within the next 2-3 months (which would put us at 15 months from contract sign).

California Pools & Landscape I researched pool companies for a very long time, and finally decided on California pools

I researched pool companies for a very long time, and finally decided on California pools. I was very impressed with how quickly they got out here, and how communicative Ryan was with us during the sales process. This was mid May , so I was prepared for some delays due to COVID. But I felt really great with the speed with which things were moving. Mid July we started construction, again, I was prepared for this little delay due to covid. It took WAY too long to get some parts done, and my backyard is small and my pool was only 9500 gallons, very small. Things kept getting pushed back, ok, I get it, COVID. Then, they pebbled my pool. guess what... WRONG PEBBLE. California pools denied it was wrong at first, after threatening legal action, someone came out and sure enough, wrong pebble. This is now the first week of October. So, they rip up my pebble, redo, and now its end of October. I had 2 very large water bills because I had to fill up my pool, twice. I had to ask for a refund on my landscaping because it was just a ridiculous amount of time it was taking to spread some rock and plant a few bushes. My pergola STILL has no date to be installed, its been 7 MONTHS. NO IDEA on when it will get here. And now, the main reason for this review. I have a leak. A BIG leak. It appeared after they redid the pebble. I told them about it in the beginning of November. 3 Different people have been out (landscaping, plumbing, and my construction manager) but no idea where it is coming from. So they have to have their leak detection team come out, while my backyard is soaked and growing. I just heard, 17 DAYS UNTIL SOMEONE CAN COME OUT. Im sorry, If you called a plumber and said hey, I have a leak in my house, can you come fix it, and they told you, sure, 17 days is the earliest, YOU WOULD FREAK OUT. I am LIVID at this company for taking my money and then not making me any sort of priority. A leak is a huge deal, but they act like its no biggie. I have neighbors who I worry will start to notice this leak going on their side of the walls. I will have to pursue legal action to get my leak taken care of at this point. I DO NOT recommend california pools AT ALL, COVID delays aside. I still have 4k tied up with a nonexistent pergola (which I have called other companies who say they can get a pergola installed in 6 weeks) and my backyard is soaking wet. Horrible horrible company.

California Pools & Landscape California Pools and Landscape built our pool and also landscaped around it which included a pergola and some turf with pavers

California Pools and Landscape built our pool and also landscaped around it which included a pergola and some turf with pavers. They are higher priced than others but seemed to have it together and could handle the job without delays during the quote and installation process. They did a great job with helping us with the design and picking out tile, pavers and turf. They don't contract out most of the work as it's their own employees which we liked and thought was a plus. When the time came to start they were right on target and materials were being delivered as they needed them and things were really moving along. The first hiccup occurred when they installed the pool light. It was installed crooked where the light shined at an angle in the water. They said it didn't matter and that they always install it that way. I called ***, the manufacturer of the light, and they told me that the light has to be installed horizontally straight. *** came up with a plan to fix it but the pool needed to be drained to do the job. The tile install for the pool was very poor. It has what they call "clipping" meaning the tile is uneven. Anyone who installs tile knows this is not correct and looks poor. I did not bring it to their attention because I did not, at that point, want to go thru the demolition of all the tiles. The next issue was with the pergola. A separate crew came in and installed followed by the electricians who came to wire it. The city electrical inspector was coming in 2 days so being an electrician myself I thought I would inspect prior to his arrival. I tested the GFIC's and none worked meaning they did not trip when called to do so? Long story short I found very poor wiring practices and *** grounding so the GFCI's would not work at all. I also found that the pergola was not grounded. That means if something shorted on the pergola the breaker might not trip so all the aluminum could be energized. I called *** Pools and told them what I found and sent pictures and told them not to send those electricians out but they did anyway. They came out checked the voltage and repaired it at 8:00 at night.Next, I filled the pool and they sent their guy out to start it up with the chemicals. We talked about startup and the fact that he would come back every few days until it was stabilized. That was the last of seeing him. Just a total lack of supervision on the job site. Workers are not quite sure what or how its suppose to be done. There are no quality checks or follow up so the workers never get feedback to correct their work. Jump ahead 1 year later its warranty time. Cal Pools warranty person came out to look at all the issues I had. A couple of trees died and they replaced them. They did not finish acid washing the tile when it was installed so they had to do it again but they did a poor job again. It was not clean so I did it and it got clean. I had an issue with the turf they installed. It was a matted down path even when I kept it raked. Cal Pools warranty person looked at it and said "I wish they had put walking pavers in where the turf is so this doesn't happen" They came back and said this is not a warranty issue? I also had issues with pavers. They were going to follow up on the pavers but that was the last I have heard from them in 3 months. That's OK I don't want them fixing anything for me. You have to look beyond the lipstick as poor workmanship is hidden.

California Pools & Landscape My pool build

We paid our deposit at the end of October and we are still waiting to even get our yard graded. We were told that it would take 6 months or less to complete the project, and we are coming up on the 8th month. This was an expensive project and we reach out for updates or concerns and we either don’t get responses in a timely manner or get no response at all. We have been patient and we feel like we are being taken advantage of. It’s frustrating to see our next door neighbors get a pool built in 3.5 months and we are still waiting for our yard to be graded.

California Pools & Landscape CPL still hasnt finished grading/landscaping

CPL still hasnt finished grading/landscaping. Its been seven weeks since they assured us it would be completed. It took over one year to complete our pool despite being assured initially that the timeline would be about five months. Theyre using the same playbook now for the grading/landscaping that is still not finished (i.e., they make promises that they dont honor).

California Pools & Landscape I started up my pool in December and they still can't get my pool fence installed correctly

I started up my pool in December and they still can't get my pool fence installed correctly. I have spent *** of my hard earned money and the craftsmanship does not match the price tag. they have made 5 attempts to repair the fence and it gets worse every time. I just want my pool done and will never recommend this company to anyone looking for a pool. We have dealt with nasty attitudes and constant no shows with the construction crews. I have been through 4 to 5 construction managers and incompetent workers

California Pools & Landscape California Pools built our pool

California Pools built our pool. We emptied the pool to change the water recently and noticed two very large cracks in the pool. I contacted California Pools (the builder) to fix the cracks on 4/23. They told me that they were unable to fix them until October. Really? This is Arizona and we need our pool fixed now for use this Summer. Worst customer experience both now and while we were in the process of building. This is our third pool that we built and the first two experiences were seamless. Can you help us get our pool fixed?

We signed a contract with California Pools to install a pool, spa and landscape package On April 23, and were informed it was about a 12 week project. It has now been 25 weeks and we are nowhere close to having the pool, spa or pergola finished. We have paid 89% of the exorbitant price, made numerous phone calls and had meetings with company executives with negative results. I can only imagine if they are acting this underhandedly with us there are many other clients in the same position. I have attached photos and documents to support this.

I purchased a California Pool and hot tub when I bought my house in 1998. At that time, I was told that my Pebble Tec had a life time warranty. I believe them and in fact a few years later I has some issues with it in my hot tub and the pool and they indeed came out and did the necessary repairs at not cost. Did not do a real good job, the shades were off, yet I did not complain as they complied with the warranty. Now a few later, I had them come out to fix some other areas and was told they had changed their policy, without notice to me, and I would have to pay the labor charge. I declined at that time. So now I am ready to have them do the repairs and they come out and now tell me the Pebble Tec is too old and they cannot do it. So I ask why I was not told of these previously and they say find my contract. So I did and it has a clause that references another document about the care and age of the Pebble Tec that I never received of knew about. I just think this is not a manner of doing business and at the least deceitful. I have talked to the manger a few times but did not get this issue resolved.

California Pools & Landscape On January 18 we signed up with a pool company and paid our $1k deposit

On January 18 we signed up with a pool company and paid our $1k deposit. At the time we were told we could expect our pool to be finished by the end of July or early August. It took them until April to come and paint the lines for the pool on the ground, then on June 11 they did our dig and demanded their payment of $28k. Now it's the end of August and all I have is a hole in my backyard. Yes, we have had some rain and weather delays. The problem, though, is not the rain; the problem is with scheduling. If you dig my pool on June 11, you should have a timely schedule to get the pool to shotcrete. Instead, you dig on June 11 and then tentatively schedule plumbing for August 20. I want an actual schedule that can be completed in a reasonable time frame to shotcrete; this waiting months in between is ridiculous. At this rate, my pool will take an excessive number of months to complete, which is unacceptable! Broken promises, buyer beware! Run, don't walk from this company.

California Pools & Landscape We selected CA Pools based on their reputation

We selected CA Pools based on their reputation. Despite the higher price tag, we wanted to ensure a quality build with a reputable company. We contracted with them to build a pool and spa and after 7 months, we have lost complete confidence in the company to deliver. No one can give us a timeline of events and its taken since March to dig a hole and place plumbing. I have shared my frustrations with the CA pools team and all I get back are messages indicating empathy for our situation and asking us to be patient. I come here on a trusted forum because I dont want to see anyone elses dreams get crushed the way ours have been. CA Pools was contracted to deliver us a quality pool and as evidenced by their lack of follow through and communication, we are left to wonder if our backyard will ever be complete. I have attached a list of events that have transpired thus far, along with more detail on our situation. Thank you.

On Feb. 22, 2021, I gave California Pools & Landscape $1,000 to hold the price of a pool I was considering to build. When I inquired about being able to be refunded the hold money, the sales person, ***, informed me, all the money would be returned if no work was done. Due to covid-19, my income had been reduced and I would no longer be able to continue the process of building a pool. I informed *** of this and he told me someone would reach out to me. Weeks went by without any contact. I reached out again and *** informed me, there would be a processing fee. When I inquired as to how much this fee would be, he told me to contact ***. I reached to her multiple times by phone with no response. I decided to go to the office and see if I could speak to her. She then told me, even though California Pools & Landscape did NOT do any work, they will NOT be refunding any money to me.Multimillion dollar companies should not be allowed to get over on the common man like this.

California Pools & Landscape Dealing with construction issues, incomplete work, missing pieces, and terrible communication

Dealing with construction issues, incomplete work, missing pieces, and terrible communication. Water line tile ran out took over a week to find out why the crew had left, and had to have it all redone.Charged an upgrade fee because they didnt have any similar tiles in the price range we already paid for Travertine work is uneven, cracked, moves when walked on. Stacked stone has gaps, improper grouting, grouting in unmatching colors, grout is leaking into the pool, causing our tile to be ruined, our pool technician was shocked that his own company left us with that quality of work. The travertine surrounding my jacuzzi fell into my pool and almost onto my daughter, someone could have died or been seriously injured due to this negligence. I asked not to have the same crew come and fix and was ignored. Multiple plant issues Missing pariscoping pieces, ignored requests for more information. No follow through on assurances that someone will be present to supervise on repair days

California Pools & Landscape This is hopefully so no one has to go through what we are dealing with

This is hopefully so no one has to go through what we are dealing with. We needed to have our pool remodeled because of the age of the pool. We did our due diligence and got quotes from 3 different companies. We chose California Pools because they seemed to offer the best at a fairly reasonable price. Well here is where the horror story begins. We signed the contract and then were put on the back burner for a couple of months. There was excuse after excuse as to why they had not started it. The beginning of April they finally came and demoed the pool, pulled out flagstone, and marked up the side of the pool with red Xs throughout. They were here two days. The next day they collected a large portion of money from me. Well guess what? They have not been back since April and have continued to come up with excuses to push it out another week. Im not usually one to complain, however after them scheduling to resume today and not even showing up or calling just shows they lack integrity.

California Pools & Landscape We went under contract with Cal Pools in April

We went under contract with Cal Pools in April. We funded our loan in June and the hole for our pool was dug in July. Since then nothing has been done on our pool project unless we complain. Nothing. It has sat and sat since July. The hole started collapsing multiple times since August and still sat despite the known collapse risk. Plumbing, steel and electrical were required before shotcrete to stabilize the dig area. Not one step was completed without us complaining and minimum 4-6 weeks between each step. On Christmas morning we woke to a giant collapse along the entire length of the pool. The collapse is so severe its up and under the neighboring wall and is a threat of collapsing the cinderblock wall we share with our neighbors, creating a severe safety hazard. Of course the hole is going to collapse when you dig a hole and let it sit for 6 months! Weve called, emailed the owner, everything we can think of, but our project is still not being moved forward. They keep blaming the weather but you cant blame the rain when it only rains for a week or two twice a year. They hurried and dug the hole so we couldnt back out then have left it to collapse over and over since July then blame the rain. We get word salad when we ask about scheduling. This needs fixed now and our project needs finished. We arent the most expensive project which makes us feel like ours doesnt matter and other more expensive projects are being pushed ahead of ours. Just do the job we hired you to do! Photos attached.

On July 10th, I contacted my sales rep Paul S whom I informed I would like a new RV gate and new regular to which he responded "It will be $1500" I said Ok, lets do it. On July 17th we went to Chandler to look at the waterfall cap and again confirm the new gate and the RV gate to which he said it was taken care of. I still had no change order for the RV gate, so on July 23rd at 540pm I again asked about the RV gate to which he said he forgot and will add it. On July 29th at 901am I still have not received the Change order to which he asked me to send a picture of the fence I would like replaced, I sent him a picture with measurements, he did not respond. On August 18th at 3:18pm he said he forgot to write down the items we selected for the cap and tile, so he asked if I wrote it down. The loan subsequently closed and the RV gate and new gate were not on it. I received a bill for $2,600 for the RV gate. I made a complaint with the company about the Sales Rep constantly forgetting important items on our project that is costing us several thousand dollars. I received a phone call from a person named Darren who informed me Paul did not forget he was doing his due diligence due to covid, I was not informed of any problems related to obtaining the fence as no one communicated with me about potential issues. I was then informed by Darren he would waive credit card fees and stated I messed up and not Paul. I informed him I have all the supporting emails and text messages from Paul, I was told those are not necessary because he believes his sales rep. This absolute disregard of facts is ridiculous, then I am the one who is out several thousand dollars, I understand mistakes, but to blame the customer and refuse to even see the facts is why I am making this complaint.

California Pools & Landscape In January , we chose California Pools & Landscape (CPL) for our pool construction.

In January after reviewing multiple pool contractors we signed the contract with California Pools & Landscape (CPL) to build the pool for us. Our main decision to go with them was the false verbal promise made by the Sales Person that the pool would be ready by late May/June . We wanted the pool project completed to enjoy the last summer with our kids who were graduating high school and planning to leave for college. Unfortunately, the excavation did not start until the third week of August , although CPL performed pre-grade and removed a service gate and wall in March. Knowing we had a 4-month-old puppy, the early work was repeatedly undone by the puppy's actions and the year's heavy rainfall. The delay in excavation raises questions about the timing of the initial work. Since then, I've received notices from my HOA about trash can visibility and the need for front yard landscaping, which I cannot address due to cut irrigation lines and open trenches from the pool work. CPL has reinstalled the service gate and wall, but with the dirt pile and damaged pavers, the gate is unusable. When contacting CPL's schedulers and construction managers, the excuse is always resource availability during COVID. I'm perplexed why CPL accepts new projects and why Maricopa County continues to issue permits to them when they struggle to complete existing ones. I urge CPL to improve their project execution and take responsibility for timely delivery.

The sales pitch by California Pools and Landscape was for a $1000 deposit they could get started right away to complete my pool and landscape in *** weeks. That was on August 6th. Eight months later, more than double the time, the project is still not finished. Nonetheless, it required payments at various stages and demanded the final payment even though the work was not completed. California Pools even exceeded the time period allotted by the lending company. At this point, Im done begging and pleading with the company to finish the work. My hope is that the Complaintsboard.com can help negotiate with the company to complete the contract without more delay. There are three items that need to be finished:1-Replace the final pavers damaged by Cal Pools. 2-Fix the paver that rests over the auto water filler and prohibiting the *** from functioning properly.3-Fill the gap by the post of the Ramada. To date, California Pools has proven to be its own worst enemy. It had to replace a pump, the automatic water filler twice, replace plants that the various workers crushed or damaged, the turf had to be re-done due to a scheduling mix-up with the curbing installation, the pool had to be drained and re-filled after crews put in too much salt, and it chipped pavers while trying to clean off the Pebble Tech and other messes. Each issue resulted in more delays. The company may try to claim COVID for the delays, but that is simply an excuse for poor planning and scheduling. We signed a contract knowing COVID was underway. The business failed to request materials and items in advance. It failed to supervise sub-contractors. I have emails and pictures to illustrate every issue. California Pools knew about the pavers back in February. Two months later, it hasnt been resolved. The crews removed tape marking damaged pavers and stated the work was done. The same is true with the concrete gap at the Ramada. The company was notified in February and to date nothing.

California Pools & Landscape Email sent on 10/21 regarding a formal complaint about pool construction

On 10/21, I emailed a formal complaint about discrepancies in our pool construction project. We initially met with the company on 02/06 and signed a contract on 02/17. By 10/14, it was clear the project did not match the agreed design. The company refused to correct the issue without additional cost, citing contract protection. I've requested a resolution by 10/26 before escalating the matter.

California Pools & Landscape When we chose California Pools, their manager told us the Hayward AquaNaut Cleaner will climb

When we chose California Pools, their manager informed us the Hayward AquaNaut Cleaner would climb, needing only manual brushing for steps and baja ledge. They guaranteed 99% interior cleanliness, and Hayward specs confirmed wall-climbing capabilities. Post-installation, the AquaNaut failed to climb. Construction managers and a senior manager claimed it wasn't meant to climb, yet a Hayward representative verified on 7/31 it should, but couldn't due to incorrect pool slope. Only the AquaVac 650 could manage it. A site visit on 8/27 revealed the cleaner climbed once but not again. They promised to check the cleaner post other installation issues, offering a replacement if necessary. On 1/21, they emailed to refute the cleaner's wall-climbing ability, offering a refund of $676.07. They clarified that customers must manually brush walls, baja, steps, and benches. On 1/25, they contradicted earlier statements, asserting the cleaner did climb during the 8/27 visit. On 3/9, I proposed keeping the cleaner with a warranty and a $1649 credit for a backup that cleans walls. They replied, confirming the cleaner's wall-climbing function. On 3/12, they acknowledged the visit when the cleaner climbed once.
