Can I get a decent tablet for under $100? 21

Having a good tablet experience doesn’t necessarily require a big investment. There are now many low-cost tablets with decent performance and features. And there is nothing wrong with those tablets as they serve their purpose just fine.

$100 is a tough budget but it’s still possible to find a decent tablet. Walmart ONN 10.1 inch tablets do cost around $98 which is quite economical. The tablet is made from metal and glass, has an OS without any bloatware, and also features a slot for additional storage. However, it’s not perfect, the screen resolution is weak, RAM is subdued and there is no headphone jack. But all in all it’s a great device for casual use or to keep kids occupied during travels.

One important factor to remember is what they're using now, if they already have an iPhone, just get them an iPad, familiarity will save you a lot of pain in tech support

I got my grandma an iPad mini 5 years ago and it’s still working great for her. Most definitely worth the price

Honestly, my parents have tried and failed multiple times to get a good experience out of "budget" tablets. This year I finally convinced them to just buy an iPad Air with the M2 chip. What finally got them? No more home button lol. They hated that thing, and were so happy to see a bigger screen-to-body ratio that they paid the premium upcharge from the 10th gen. I think it was about $100 more expensive at the time compared to the 256GB 10th gen (64 was too small, the 129GB starting size for the Air was enough though).

Got my iPad 10th gen during Black Friday for $249.99; as a lifelong Samsung phone user, the iPad is definitely an awesome tablet.

The ipad10 has honestly been so welcome in my family especially with the price drops, I originally got one for school to mostly run some physiology software but it has quickly become my main workhorse for everything school related, and with the price my whole family has ipads now

I bought my dad an iPad Air gen 2 and gave my mom my old iPad gen 8. Both are great for google, and emails.

I got an ipad 10 recently, and was surprised to find out that it supports active stylus

So folks who don’t need fancy pen mechanics can just get a cheap active stylus and use it on the ipad.

I got one for 10$ and it just works amazing for most pen usage.

Just one thing, these pens don’t have a button/shortcut to go to home and for some reason Apple doesn’t allow the swipe up gesture for pencils. So you need to set up ‘Assistive Touch’ widget where you can map the home button in an overlay.

Enjoy

I got a 12.9inch M1 iPad 2 TB with LTE from Woot for $650 recently. It was a great deal. Then an open box Apple Pencil 2 for $35. Probably one of the best deals I've found this year.

iPad 10 easily all the way! Plus, there’s a new apple pencil for iPad 10 that magnetically attaches so no problem there.

After killing my old iPad Pro's Screen during a battery replacement, I bought the 10th gen standard iPad. I'm very into tech but also a student and didn't want to spend the high price on a new iPad Pro. And the 10th gen is really an incredible device; if the screen was laminated, I wouldn't spend any more money for a higher-tier iPad.

My mom needed a tablet for a "better reading experience", and almost the only real choices I felt were good enough for what all she needed to do on it were
-10th Gen iPad
-Samsung's S9 FE

both costing roughly the same, ended up settling for the iPad and she couldn't have been more happier. Yes the storage is way too low for my liking but it's good enough for her and I couldn't recommend it more for anyone else looking into buying one if all you want to do is consume content, play games and take notes...

Apple in my experience has had a really good track record for giving consistent updates on almost all of their products and when an offer pops up for something as cheap as it's Android counterpart I wouldn't see why anyone would look at the other side.

From the moment I buy my mom a new tablet I start saving a percentage of my weekly pay toward a new "Mom's Tablet Replacement" program. By the end of 2 years there is more than enough in the fund to get whichever tablet is considered "top of the line".

Older adults may have difficulty getting used to new technology, so choosing a product with a simple interface, good manufacturer support, and a large user community will make the experience easier. For example, the Apple iPad (old version) is not the cheapest, but is often highly rated for its ease of use and durability.

I hate to be THAT guy, but I feel like this is why Apple exists. The iPad is a fast, easy to use experience right out of the box and will be for several years. Plus, being able to control the device remotely when something goes awry is a godsend. Giving your parents tech support over the phone is quite possibly the most excruciating form of torture there is.
