Carla Car Rental Scam: Save your money and time by renting from someone else!
So, my friend and I made the mistake of renting a car through Carla when we were in Tampa, Florida. Everything seemed fine at first- we got a rental quote, confirmed it, and paid the deposit. However, the next day we noticed that we had been charged an extra $220 by Carla without our authorization. We tried to sort it out by contacting the car rental company, only to find out that they had received our confirmation but hadn't received any payment from Carla. In fact, we still had the same total due! What a joke!
We immediately tried to cancel the rental, but guess what? You can only email Carla and wait for a response for three days or more. Seriously, who has time for that? And get this- your options for cancelling are to get a credit for another rental or to get "1/2" of your money back. Except in our case, half of $224 was only $84! That's not even close to half! What a complete scam.
We've been emailing Carla for over a month now, and all we're getting is the run-around. We still haven't received our money back. It's absolutely ridiculous that Carla is scamming people like this- taking our money, not sending it to the rental company, and then refusing to repay it. They need to be held accountable for their shady practices. I wish we had read reviews before we decided to rent from them.
So, here's my advice- don't give Carla your money. Run, and run fast. Trust me, you'll be so much better off renting a car from someone else. Oh, and by the way- excuse any spelling or grammar errors I made. I'm just a regular person writing a passionate review.
