I submitted an online order on 07/05/17 for close to $70 on my credit card. I became concerned when I received a confirmation email from FedEx stating my package had been delivered to my home when in fact it had not. I called customer service and spoke to a "uncaring" representative who treated me like I was stupid. Asking if I had given the order 10 business days to arrive. I told her no because I thought my FedEx email was proof enough that I should have my package. She told me I had to wait until the following Monday before I could cancel my order. I called Monday and was given the same treatment and told I would receive my refund I'm 5-7 business days. Today is the 7th business day and I still have not received my refund. I called and spoke with a lady who told me to give it 3 more days. I asked to speak with a supervisor who listened to me but worked silently on my case. I had to speak multiple times just to ensure she was still on the line with me. She told me I had to take this up with my bank. I explained to her that nobody had mentioned this and this is not a bank error. After a very long silence she stated she submitted my refund and I should receive it within 3 days. This was my first and now ONLY online shopping experience with Cato. I felt that none of them valued me as s customer at all.
false advertising of clearance items
I visited Cato's in Ft Worth, Texas (Lands End Rd) while on vacation as I do in any city that I visit within the US. They had a shoe clearance rack. I picked up a pair of shoes, however the shoes did not have a clearance price on them. I took the shoes to the counter and asked what the clearance price was on the shoes. I assumed that the shoes were on clearance since they were sitting on a clearance rack. I thought perhaps it was an oversight on an employee that the shoes were not marked. Their explanation was that they needed the space on the regular shoe shelf so they moved the shoes to the clearance rack and advised me that this was a regular practice of theirs. I purchased the shoes at the regular price and contacted corporate office and left a message for a return call. I received a phone call from someone from the corporate office. Of course I expected some compensation such as 10% credit or some other decent customer service consideration for the poor business practices of the store. However, that was not the case. Nope, did not even receive an apology. The female was cold and did not appear to care on bit about the false advertisement practices. Needless to say I nor any of my family or friends will do business again with any of the stores. Not because of the store but because of the undesirable contact with the representative from the corporate office.

I really feel that if you pay for an item as debit you should be able to return it and get the cash back. My husband works twelve hours a day and we have the same bank account just different cards. They could have at least put it back on my debit card. It's a shame to lose business to someone who's wardrobe is mostly Cato's. I love their clothes but I am not going to be treated like I'm some kind of criminal trying to steal money back from a blouse that didn't fit. Especially when I had other items on there. I'm very disappointed. Thank you and have a nice day.
not a family friendly store or accepting of the disabled
I was told I could not use a cart to carry my infant son around in. I am a disabled individual and can not physically carry my son due to a hip and spinal cord condition. I was kicked out of the store and told I could not shop with my son since I could not physically carry him around the store.
This happened in San Angelo, Texas in the Catos on Sherwood Way and Avenue K.

I went into the catos store in Meridian, Ms on 6/3/2017 to make a return and the associate was very rude, when I walked into the store she was standing in the corner on the phone in the women's dept. She did not great or anything, I got to the counter and no one was there so I looked back over to her and stated that I had a return and she said that someone would be there in a minute once the associate got to the counter she called out, Rochelle I have a return, she proceeded to talk on the phone so I looked back over to where she was and she was still in the corner on the phone after about 5-10 seconds she decided to very slowly walk to the counter to assist the associate and still no acknowledgement to the customer at all. This is the worst customer service that I have ever experienced in all my years of coming into catos
my local store
I was in the store today to pick up my layaway and I asked her to check my items to see if any of them went on sale. I paid balance in cash, and the she checked items. Two items were on sale. She proceeds to give me a gift card for refund for sale items. I expressed that I wanted my cash not a card. She then explains to me the policy. I read back of receipt and did not see that as a notified policy for customers. She had a sheet behind the counter. So I decided to return items. She became frustrated and rude leaving the counter to call her district manager. When she returned she said what her policy was again but I explained my disappointment and wanted to just return it all. She again became frustrated and rude. She was acting as if she didn't know how to do a refund. She was asking other sales associate for help, but she was the store manager. I was so frustrated I told them to just give me my order I will deal with it latter.
I am in your store once or twice a week, I purchase school clothing, bridal gifts, birthdays, and Christmas gifts from your company. I spend a lot of money at Catos. There should never be a policy that penalize customers for using any of your programs offered. I will be taking the majority of my business elsewhere and posting on blogs and shoppers columns.
It is store policy about any cash refunds on layaway items, be put on a gift card. Arguing to someone when she is trying to explain to you what the rules of the store are, shows that the customer is not always right! Retail doesn't pay to put up with rude customers such as yourself!
employee
I was in the store today and I really disliked that the store manager was letting the other younger employee do all of the work all over the entire store. While the manager was standing in one spot, possibly in her own little world, the younger employee was handling mostly everything in the store trying to help me and others and she seemed very tired, frustrated, and looked drained. She remained having a positive attitude with her customers even though she was tired. Others customers were noticing the same thing and noticed the manager wasn't trying to help her. I felt bad for her and I'm disgusted! This store needs better managers that are not selfish!
poor customer service and returning of items
This incident occured on May 8, 2017 at around 4:50 pm. I went into the store to return some items that were purchased on May 6, 2017. I . went to the store located in Florence, SC near David McLeod Blvd. I did not receive a greeting and stood in front of the cash register for approximately 5 minutes before even being acknowledged. And while I was standing there, a lady approached the counter as if she was doing something on the computer and did not assist me. This lady must have been some sort of shift leader or manager because when the other lady with a short haircut came to complete my transaction, she had to get the key from the other lady to complete the return. The salesperson who did my return was not very friendly either and I am very upset about this visit. There was no professionalism about neither one of the workers and people should not have to put up with that. I enjoy going to Catos but this location I will not be going back to anymore.
stolen return items from store clerk/counter
My return items were taken from the counter in Cato's. When I initiated my return the sales clerk looked into my bag. She asked if I would be purchasing other items. I indicated I would, at which time she instructed me to look around the store. I left my bag of returns with the clerk on the counter. While shopping for other items, the clerk calls to me "ma'am do you have your bag?" When I stated, "no" the clerk and manager pointed out two customers in the parking lot. Stayed they may have picked up and indicated I should go ask them. Neither employee offered to accompany me or anything. The customers obviously stated they did not have the bag. When I returned to the counter to share this information. I asked if there where surveillance cameras that we could review to determine the location of the items. The manager indicated there is no surveillance in the store. She would share this information with her regional manager and print a copy of my receipt. Essentially offering zero assistance leaving me out of $200.00 and items.
unethical behavior
I went into the Cato Store located in Warrensburg, MO. I was not greeted or acknowledged in anyway. After shopping, I proceeded to the checkout counter where I was left standing for over 5 minutes. Another customer walks up behind me and was greeted promptly. I still was not acknowledged. I placed my items on the counter and the cashier whose name is Samantha never once greeted or spoke to me. I called the store back hours later to complain and the Store Manager stated "Samantha is one of my best employees, she was having a bad day." Unexceptable behavior. I shopped in the same store before with different employees and was treated with great respect. Today's visit Saturday, April 21, 2017 was completely awful.

An outrage, that I was charged twice online, for one purchase! The inept, incompetent costumer service agent had the audacity to tell me that is "normal procedure, it'll drop off in a few days" ignorance at its finest. I'm so sad to say that while cato is one my favorite stores, i'd rather pay more elsewhere for quality customer service and only being charged for items I actually purchase! Cato has lost my business in-store and online.

I have spent a great deal of money in Cato for a number of years but they have forever lost my business, I'm not sure if I will ever shop at another Cato. I think the sales associates are unprofessional and rude. When a customer returns an item and request to purchase a different item in its place the response from any professional associate should be I'm sorry you weren't happy with your original purchase but we are more than happy to exchange your item, we value your business and want a happy customer. Not "there's nothing wrong with this it looks just like it did when it came off the truck". It's my money, I work hard for my money, and if I'm not happy with the item, and I have the receipt, and I want an even exchange, guess what, you don't get to make that call and that opinion voiced loudly in front of other customers in an attempt to embarrass me did not work but has lost you a customer and earned you a bad reputation. And if you drop a customers newly purchased garment on the floor while bagging it, you could at least apologize and look at it to be sure you didn't get anything on it. Rude. That is the second time I have been treated rudely as a paying customer, not waiting for third time's the charm.

The manager only gave me half my money back on a pair of pants because they were "damaged". They first said they couldn't take them back because they were dirty and had cat hair on them. They have Never been worn or anything so I don't know how they would be dirty. So I washed them and took them back. That's when they stated they were damaged because that had a small damp spot on them. They were extremely rude there and they laughed at me because I didn't understand why they labeled it as damaged. They also laughed and made fun of me when I started to leave. Didn't even wait to get out of the door. I will never shop their again and I will definitely take this to the highest person I can. Absolutely disgraceful.

On April 8 2017 around 8:00p.m. I visited the Cato fashion store on olive street in pine bluff Ar and I was very displeased with the manager and one other worker. They're customer service was unprofessional. I was about to purchase a pair of shoes that seem to have a defect at the sole of the shoes and a few scratches... It was coming apart a little and I asked the worker name Brittany Sargeant if the store would give a discount for the shoes because it was the only size 8 pair left. Brittany said i can tell you now that they're not gonna give you a discount. I asked her to just ask a manager. She took the shoes to the back and Parish Branch(this is what she told me here name was) came out and said what's wrong with the shoes. I told her they're coming loose and they're slightly scratched and she said where...I continue to show her and then she said the only thing I can do is give you a 10% discount but if the shoe messes up you can't return them still...I told her that I'll just not get them and she goes on to say in a attitude voice that if it'll make you HAPPY then I can order them for you. By this time I'm just completely irritated. So i told her that's ok because the service you're giving me is unprofessional. I proceeded to leave and on my way out I asked Mrs. Donna could she give me the number to complain but she didn't want to be involved and she apologize for me being upset and told me to ask the same young lady Parish to give me the number. Well she gave me a suppose to be human resource number [protected] but the number continues to give me a busy sound and a suppose to be home office number [protected] which ended up being the Cato fashion at the McCain mall and this is when I was directed to come to the website and submit a complaint. I also asked Parish for the person name, number and when they're be in to talk to and she told me she couldn't give me that information and that all she could give me was her name and her name was Charnette Todd. And as I ess walking out the store Brittany and Parish both started laughing as if it was funny that I was offended and upset. So unprofessional. I shop the Cato in pine bluff often and I've never experience service like this before. I hope something is done to prevent this from happening to someone else. And I really hope a camera was recording and you all could go back and replay it and if at any point I did anything out of character to offend these two workers then I'll be more than HAPPY and WILLING to apologize to them both. I was in there 03-14-17 I had the worst experience the so called manager she was tall with light hair never greeted me when she finally did I couldn't get away from her she wouldn't stop talking about herself she was all over the place. Your technology & customer service sucks! Trying to use my db card at a store in Ft Smith, AR and it will never take it! My card works everywhere else. Update your machines! They couldnt take an imprint of my card because the numbers werent raised? Imprint? Are we in 2017? Called the hateful customer service people & then they transfer me to the complaint dept & that persons mailbox is full? Must have a lot of upset people!? I buy a lot of my close at Cato but never again! I will blast and say how terrible this company is to every social media and person I can! I will never shop in a Cato store again!

I am a regular custom at Cato Fashion store in Longview, Texas you have two store one on esterparkway an one on Loop 281 the one on ester parkway there was a man an a woman watching me while I was .shopping this is not the first time that I have seem that lady sir I am on a fix income when I don't have the money I put my item on layaway I do no go in there to steal i enjoy going to your store because I am a plus size an the prices are reasonable but there are time I get so uncomfortable it make me not won't to go to your stores I have talk to a few black ladies that said the same thing they don't watch the white are the Latino there are a few worker that is friendly an there is some that not they watch every move you make while the other shop freely I feel like it racial profiling

I bought a item that was marked on the tag 3.99. I was charged 5.99. The date of purchase was Jan-05-2017. After I got home I realized the mistake. I took the receipt and the tag back the next week since the weather was not very nice. I live outside the city and in the next county. However, the manger who said her name was Heather refused to reimburse me the $2.00. She claimed that it was against store policy. I asked how can it be a store policy to overcharge a customer and not correct it. She then said that the item was not on sale at the time I bought it. I bought it on Thursday and she said the sale wasn't until the following Sunday. I asked how you could mark a item on sale if it wasn't. She made it sound as if I changed it. You could obviously tell it was the same marking as on all of the other tags which by the way were also marked 3.99 on Thursday. The Cato I am referring to is in Huntsville, Alabama Sore 952. The salesperson number is 109. I am so very disappointed that a store policy would cheat it's customers in such a way which is the same as stealing from those customers. I was also upset that I was made to feel I was being accused of changing the tag when it was obvious I had not. And that I was lying about the item being on sale. I have never been to a store before that refused to correct an error that was obviously on the store's side. Please let me know if this is truly your policy. If so I don't want to do any more business with you. Also if this is a mistake on the manager part I will understand and hope that the situation can be resolved without hard feelings. My complaint is mostly principal on how the situation was handled by the store manager.

The catos in Breaux Bridge, La gives hangers especially when it is a dress or sweater.
My problems with Cato's is that they will not give you hangers when you buy something. I have spent over $500.00 in the last week at 2 of their stores. They would not give me the hangers even though some of the items were jackets and heavy sweaters. I think this is terrible. I have shopped at their stores in the Dallas, Texas area for over 20 years. I was told that the stores need to reuse the hangers because they cannot afford to replace the hangers. Excuse me? Cato's, with their many stores cannot afford to give hangers to it's customers? I think that is ridiculous. I have contacted headquarters to voice my concerns/ complaints and have not heard from anyone. I have shopped in smaller stores than Cato's and have been asked, " Do you want to keep your hangers?" I was recently in the Bloomington IN store buying a gift card. It was pretty busy that night since Christmas was only a couple days away, I was being helped by a brunette when a small small woman with blonde hair came up to the front screaming, ranting and raving about how someone put some shirts in the wrong place! The woman waiting on me kept apologizing but I told her it was not her fault that the woman is just not professional enough to obviously wait to discuss the situation at a later time! I asked the woman what the blonde ladies position was and her reply was "my manager" if I worked for someone like that i would be embarrassed! It was uncalled for and very disrespectful there where way to many people there that night and the woman could of waited to throw a tantrum later!

I was shopping in your Cato fashion store in Granbury and I over heard an employee with blonde hair saying rude and unnecessary comments about my appearances and giving me nothing but attitude when I was respectful towards her the entire time I was shopping. I am a regular customer and I do not appreciate being disrespected by people I give tons of money too. I hope this issue is resolved and that I do not have to experience this ever again.
I went to a Cato store. The store number is 00583 salesperson number is 124. We went on October 12 2017 at 6:30pm. There is a laundromat near it where I made a bunch of change. I tried to buy two earrings and the total came to 10 dollars and some change. I tried to pay with the change I had because I had $20 in quarters and she refused to take my change and I don't know why because shes supposed to take any kind of money. I had to leave one of the earrings because she wouldn't take my money. I don't know if it was because I'm black but you guys just lost a customer.
