In the hallways, you'll encounter overly steep stairs and walls craving a fresh coat of paint
In the hallways, steep and narrow stairs await, alongside walls begging for cleaning and a new layer of paint. The carpets seem untouched by vacuums, and current building codes would frown upon the construction standards. It's disheartening to see Century Group Inc.'s disregard for maintenance, considering the effort people put into affording a respectable home. The owners' neglect is a disservice to the tenants.
I've been living in Yorktown for 7 years now, and Century manages it
I've been living in Yorktown for 7 years now, and Century manages it. Honestly, we got too comfy and now we're stuck here for another year. I wish we had moved out when we had the chance. There's a long list of things wrong with this place. I try to keep it tidy and pretty clean most of the time, but it's out of date and poorly maintained. My AC goes to c*** every summer since we've been here. It's Sunday now, and there's no one to call except the emergency line. The maintenance guy only brought a portable AC that barely does anything. It's a two-bedroom apartment, and I have a 3-month-old here. I take this personally, especially since I have kids living here. It won't be forgotten.
I paid rent on time for a year at Century Group Inc
I paid rent on time for a year at Century Group Inc. The place was alright, but the trash cans were always overflowing. People even put trash in the hallways, which was disgusting. The stove was filthy when I moved in and almost caught fire. I complained to the office several times about the stove, trash, abandoned cars, giant holes in the driveway, swimming pool, and air conditioner, but never got any results. When I moved out, I paid my last rent by paying the difference of the $400 deposit and the final month's rent. Two weeks later, they called me to back charge me $125 to clean the stove that never worked and was not clean before I moved in. It was extortion. I decided to pay it to keep my credit good, but they lied to me and reported it to the credit bureau. My credit dropped 81 points because they reported that I had not paid them. If you're thinking about moving in there, don't unless you're desperate. Document everything because Century Group Inc is a terrible company that only cares about being slumlords and getting paid for living in a dump.
Century Group Inc
Century Group Inc. is a bad company, I live at Glen Arbors Apartments in St.Louis, South County. I lived in one of their places in Fenton, Missouri for almost 2 years with my two Children. Then I moved to another property of The Century Group because the environment was bad. There were drinkers and smokers, and not too clean people. I didn't want my Children around that kind of environment. I have been renting from The Century Group for almost 7 years. They decided not to renew my lease in the middle of winter time. My lease expired 01/31/23, but before that, there was an incident with a neighbor threatening me and my Children and damaging my personal property. I contacted the Corporate Office by Email and phone to let them know about the incident. They said they could let me out of my lease early, but I was not able to move at that exact time. When I was actually able to move, Mrs.Hailey *** had reneged her offer. Now since my lease expired, Mrs. is calling me a holdover and trying to charge me $64.28 a day. Mrs. collected rent payments for Feb and credit of $340 for March. She is threatening to Evict me and my Children, and she is fully paid up to date, and then some. The tenant who threatened me and my Children still lives here. I sued the guy in court and got a Judgment against him, but Mrs. allowed him to stay. I thought that is in the lease about not to threaten or damage property. Not only that happened, the owner wrote a note and put it on my door one hot summer when our AC unit went out completely. He stated to his maintenance guys to let us SUFFER! I had to call 911 due to my Son overheating in the house. He has asthma. The police got a copy of that note. EMS and Police offered to take me and my Children to a cooling shelter. We have been treated poorly and unfairly by The Century Group.

Century Group Inc is not giving me back my rent deposit
Century Group Inc is not giving me back my rent deposit. They kept my deposit and gave me an extra bill for damages they said I caused. They said most of the damage was from stains on the carpet. They replaced the carpet right after I left. I sent them an email from a carpet cleaning company that said the carpet didn't need to be replaced. I tried to talk to Century Group to fix this, but they stopped talking to me after a few phone calls and emails. I have all the emails to show.
I rented an apartment from Century Group Inc for a year
I rented an apartment from Century Group Inc for a year. I told them I wouldn't renew my lease 1.5 months before it ended, but they said they left a reminder on my door which I never got. They gave me a balance of what I owed, but when I moved out on June 30th, they acted like they didn't know. They said my lease renewed automatically, but I didn't sign anything. They charged me $5,000 for breaking the contract, including carpet cleaning and fixing window blinds I didn't know were broken. Other residents said they did the same thing to them. They charged me two $85 fees for carpet cleaning, even though they said it was only $50.
I left my apartment when my lease ended on 10/30
I left my apartment when my lease ended on 10/30. The building's only exit was partially blocked by a support jack for a few weeks before that because a car crashed into the building. This jack only allowed the door to open 18 inches, which is against building and fire codes. I couldn't take everything from my apartment because of this. When I got the move-out inspection and final charges, I was charged $245 for removing items from the apartment. I'm only disputing these charges. I agreed to pay the rest of the charges in previous communication with The Century Group. You can't expect me to remove everything when the exit is narrower than my shoulder. We've exchanged many letters about this, and now these charges are on my credit report. I said before that I'm willing to settle for both parties not owing anything to the other party. I still want that, and I want the collections account removed from my credit report.

I applied for an apartment at *** Terrace online on 10/21
I applied for an apartment at *** Terrace online on 10/21. I knew there was a $55 application fee, but I didn't know about the non-refundable application deposit. The application didn't say how much it was, and I didn't make the deposit when I signed up. Later, I had to pay a $400 deposit, and they said there wouldn't be an apartment available until 12/03. But before the end of October, I found other arrangements and didn't need the apartment anymore. When I asked for a refund, they said it was non-refundable. I called the Century Group to ask for a refund, but the office manager (who didn't give her name) told me about the non-refundable policy. When I asked for her supervisor's contact information, she said it was private and I couldn't talk to anyone above her. This process should be illegal, or at least unethical. I feel like they broke the contract when they couldn't provide an apartment before December. The manager had told me I could move in on the first of November, but that wasn't what was on the application. They added the date after they got the deposit.
