On December 1, I hired Preferred Choice Restoration to fix and build my shower. They were real fast to ask for money, which they got, but then they left the project by not answering my calls or giving excuses about why they couldn't keep going. Their subcontractor also had an excuse every time he cancelled an appointment to finish the shower. 'Cause they didn't seem interested in this job, the shower is still not usable after three months.

Preferred Choice Restoration was contacted and engaged to complete a demo/dryout of our upstairs bathroom due to water damage. My husband initiated/filed the insurance claim with our homeowners' insurance company. We filed documentation from our personal plumber for the insurance claim. Preferred Choice Restoration quoted us a price of $1200 for the demolition and dry out services. When they submitted the documentation for insurance, that price had changed from $1200 to $1831.50. After obtaining a second opinion from an outside company, it was discovered that Preferred Choice Restoration had MISSED a significant amount of damage in the flooring of our upstairs bathroom. Additional work had to be completed to remove and replace much of the flooring and supports, of which Preferred Choice Restoration was planning to leave in place and just cover back up. Upon review of their billing invoice, there is no explanation for the increase in price from $1200 to $1831.50. In an email correspondence, we were told that the price difference was due to the dry out equipment being used for an additional day (which it was not). The job that was done was unacceptable, and then they demanded payment which was significantly more than their original verbal quote that was given. I have written correspondence from the company to confirm everything I've stated here is true. I would highly recommend never engaging this company for services. They contract out all the work, and NOBODY is accountable for anything.

In June , I had my air conditioner and air handler replaced by another company. When they removed the air handler, they found mold on the wall and told me to contact Preferred Choice Restoration to fix it. Preferred Choice sent someone to estimate the water damage that caused the mold. The estimate was very detailed and came to $2,073.16. It included $587.67 for detaching and resetting the water heater. However, they never did this and it wasn't necessary to fix the water damage and mold. My complaint is that I was overcharged for something that wasn't done. My wife wrote a check for the full amount, $2,073.16, which included the water heater work that wasn't done or needed.

We discovered a leak from the laundry room to the garage and contacted a plumbing service. A plumber came and replaced a new pipe. Due to the leak, the garage ceiling and drywalls were damaged. Technicians from Preferred Choice Restoration came with equipment to fix the leak and discussed resolution plans, including replacing the damaged drywall. Unfortunately, the service for the drywalls was inadequate, remaining open. The company received a payment of $2568.18 from Progressive Home. However, the service is incomplete, despite payment on March 20th. I request full repair and await your response to resolve my issue. I'll wait a few days before seeking further assistance. We started the process to remove the cupboards and fix the pipes in July 2022. During this time, there were some miscommunications. People would show up at my house without telling me, and sometimes they couldn't even do the work. The managers would promise that someone would be there, but they never scheduled anyone. They also confused me with other customers and sent the wrong people over, who were rude. I have two big dogs, so I have to put them away when people come over. Some workers told me they would wait outside, but then they would come back inside without me knowing. When I asked them about it, they got rude with me. I told them that just because I didn't answer the door doesn't mean they can walk in. My dogs could be out and it's not safe. So, they walked out and left. Since we started this project, I've had family come over to be there while they work, taken days off, and changed my hours to be available for them. The final straw was on January 30, 2023. The project manager told me a week before that we would be done by that date, but the plumber said that when the managers installed the countertops the week before, they glued the sink area and now the plumber couldn't install the sink properly. He said it would be unstable and could fall into the cupboards, causing more damage. He didn't want to do that to me. So, once again, the completion date that was promised to me was not met.

My house had a foundation leak in December 2022. I called my plumber, and they recommended Preferred Choice Restoration. I called them, and they came to start drying out the water. They kept giving me false timelines and didn't show up or call when they said they would. Their guy who worked on the cabinets ended up cracking my cabinet doors. Preferred Choice decided not to pay him, and he called me on two Sundays in a row to complain about it. When it was time to schedule the re-installation of my countertops and sink, I was so frustrated with this company that I told them we should settle the bill for the re-installation before finishing the flooring. At least, at this point, the flooring wasn't preventing me from cooking and eating. Without the countertops and sink, I couldn't prepare meals. So, when I suggested settling the first bill, they told me that without the promise of the flooring job, the installation of the countertops and sink would probably take longer. This feels like blackmail, which is a crime. Since then, I hired another company to replace the flooring. I have sent the final payment to Preferred Choice. The owner of the company called me today and said she had no idea what the problem was. I told her to check with her people as they had all the emails and text messages. I told her that she was responsible for knowing what her people were doing. I also informed her that I would be taking this to the ComplaintsBoard.com. Her employees were condescending and rude. I have worked in customer service for many years, and this was the worst experience I have ever had. It is now May 1st. This process took almost 5 months because they didn't show up when they said they would. It has cost me a lot of money in food deliveries since I haven't had a kitchen for almost 5 months.
