On May 12, 2023 I chose to switch internet providers from Centurylink to Spectrum, but decided to keep Centurylink for one month overlap in case of a problem with Spectrum. Around June 1 the Centurylink router quit working and I couldn't get it going again. I had technical service scheduled, but cancelled it because I planned to cancel my account at the end of the billing cycle, June 14, 2023. I called Centurylink June 8 to cancel my service at the end of that billing period. I was told that my last payment would be May 15, and that I did not need to return the equipment--that it was mine. Since the equipment wasn't working anyway, I recycled it. I assumed everything was hunky dory. Imagine my surprise when reviewing my July credit card statement I noticed an automatic withdrawal of $50 to Centurylink was taken on July 11, 2023. I called Centurylink on 7/21 and was told the account was closed and a $50 credit would be issued. After a week, no credit was issued so I disputed the charge. Then on August 15, 2023 another $50 was taken by Centurylink. I called Centurylink on 8/21 A.M. and was told I would be credited the $50. Later that afternoon I received a text from Centurylink addressed to another person stating that the technician would be at another address to install my equipment. What? So confused by that text I called Centurylink back and was told the text was an error--ignore it. I was also told that my account had never been closed, and that she was just then closing it. Since then I have been getting a text every day saying "Centurylink Welcome! Please click on the link to set up your Centurylink Account."
Desired outcome: Stop taking automatic payments and issue 2 $50 credits for July and August. Stop sending me welcoming texts every day.
