Checkbook Pro What Pro?

Updated to Pro yesterday. Got double charged? Why. Someone owes me $3. Only upgrade I see is no more ads and the icon changed from green to red. Don't see any calculator. Upgrade should have been $.99

1. Need to share between devices and laptop as well.

2. Need to be able to delete accts and keep data in 2nd acct. I.e I transfer $ from checking to a loan. When loan paid off I want to delete that acct. No need to track it. When I delete the loan acct, it screws up the checking balance because it deleted all of the transfers that went to the loan acct.

3. Need to have summary of balances as of today on summary sheet. I enter future payments and bills so the balance it gives me is the overall balance including the future bills.

4. Should be able to drag and drop transactions from one date to another.

5. I'll think of others...

Checkbook Pro Awesome except for one thing

It would be Outstanding and 5 Star if it would sync between my iPhone and iPad. Other than that, it is a cool app to keep track of my expenses and income.

UPDATE: They did the sync feature and it was awesome, but then they did another bug fix and the app stopped syncing correctly. Ugg...I really want to like this so I can do away with Quicken and with using Excel.

Please fix it.

UPDATE: To developers...now it will sync, but when it does the app reverts to only the opening balance on all accounts.

UPDATE 3/22...I downloaded the update and then tried to input info into one of the accounts. The information disappeared a few seconds later and I am left with just the opening balance again. So I turned the sync feature off and am trying again. So far the information stays, but as soon as I try to sync my app the information disappears again.

Checkbook Pro Years of data, gone

Update: Unfortunately iCloud backups only go back to the most recent backup, which already contains a broken version of this app. Still no word back from the developer.

This app worked for many years. I hoped for iCloud syncing, but instead we got a different kind of syncing, but so what, it’s working right?

Wrong.

Yesterday after logging into my account, which I thought I was already logged into, I found all my data erased. I’ve been using this app for about 5 years (or more) and now all my data is gone. It’s extremely disappointing that this could happen and I’ve emailed the developers in hopes they have a solution.

I’m going to try and get the data from one of my old iCloud backups.

I write this review as a warning to anyone who is using this app or thinking of buying it. It’s a good app, it does what you need it to do, but this is an unacceptable “bug”.

Checkbook Pro Missing one Key Features

Please add an icloud feature so my checkbook will sync between my ipad and iphone*** I just switched from another checkbook app to this one and it is a great app. It only has one problem. Everyday I get a Text from my bank telling me my balance. And everyday (with an old checkbook app) I would compare the text balance to what I had reconciled in my checkbook app so I knew what I had. Checkbook pro doesn't have a place that displays the cleared/reconciled balance. So you have to try and switch back and forth between Checkbook Pro and the calculator to figure out this balance. Its not a problem if you balance you check book once a month. But its not convenient for the person that is always on the go and uses there debit card frequently. I would gladly make a 5 star app and rewrite this review talking about all the great feature if this could be corrected in the next update.

Checkbook Pro Update no longer available?

I’ve been waiting for the update that would make the app work better with the iPhone X but when I click the update button I get a warning saying the update is no longer available. What’s going on? The update says it was released only 3 days ago.

I would have emailed directly but there is no contact info. Will update my review once this is resolved.

3/9 - I got your reply. I quit and restarted the App Store and am still getting the update not available pop up. I emailed you a screenshot.

3/9 - you guys keep replying saying “you have fixed the update, refresh the App Store...” I have done that multiple times but I keep getting the same message that the update is no longer available.

3/10 - the update won’t work on the App Store page with all the other updates. I had to go to the checkbook app section to make the update work. App seems to work the same but I was unable to register.

Checkbook Pro Great update! Love it! Still a cpl things though

So the new update is awesome! I love the look and the random crash issues are gone. The new way to reconcile is great. The new ability to change the type of transaction from income to payment etc is great as well.

I think the color of a reconciled transaction definitely need to change so at a quick glance you can see what has been reconciled or not, without being in the reconcile mode. UPDATE: The colors are changed, but scrolling up and down the colors go back and forth randomly. Looks like a bug. Every time I scroll the same transaction does not stay the color it should between the reconciled and non-reconciled colors.

The only other small thing is the autocomplete drop down for the transaction's name is the same color as the background list of transactions and it becomes hard to see where the list stops and the background list begins.

Other then that, everything is awesome with the new update!

Checkbook Pro Where is the support?

This used to be a great app. It’s very nicely laid out and super easy to use. One of the biggest reasons though that I decided to buy this Pro version of the app is because I like the sync feature. I use this mainly on my iPad and I like to use it also on the go from time to time with my iPhone. When I get home I can sync my phone then sync my iPad and all of the transactions that I entered throughout the day are all there where they should be. Now it seems that the app has been abandoned by the subscription based app because the sync feature for me hasn’t worked since June and I have sent at least 2 support emails requesting a fix or even possible help thinking its possible the problem was on my end but I have not received a single response from the developer. My iPad OS and app software is always up to date so I’m pretty sure the problem is on their end because it has had problems in the past but until now has always been rectified.

Checkbook Pro Review Update

New: Apparently there was an update or sometime. I got onto the app today after doing so four days ago. For some unknown reason, I had to log in. I never have to do that. Then I found that the balance for the same period was now $400 lower than when I entered the information four days ago. I really hate this app. I can’t figure out how to delete entries. I can’t figure out how to print reports. There is no support. If you have a choice, select another one.

Original review: I had to switch to using my iPad for my checking register. This one is sufficient to my needs, but I don’t love it. I wish there were a help feature. Also, at the end of the year, I really have to have a hard copy of some reports for tax purposes, and if there is a function to allow printing a copy, I can’t find it. I can’t really recommend this, but the one thing that it has going for it is that it is not complicated, and I don’t get distracted by too many graphics and colors.

Checkbook Pro Will not replace paper transactions/look elsewhere

I used the free version for quite a long time and loved it. I have 14 different accounts (through two different banks) and it allows me to keep up with all of them easily.
However, as my phone aged, I began to worry about it breaking and losing all of my data. So, I upgraded to pro, synced it to the cloud and downloaded it to my iPad, assuming my accounts would import over. That's not what happened though. I uninstalled and reinstalled on my iPad, restored the purchase and tried to sync them again, but still did not work.
So, if my phone breaks or just gives out...I'm in trouble because, as of right now, I have no back up for this app.
Wish I cold get my money back,since my only reason for upgrading was to export the data...now I have to write out all my accounts, all pending transactions and look for a new checkbook that will allow me to back up on another device. Very disappointing as I liked the ease of this app, and the ability to keep up with so many different accounts.

Checkbook Pro Great checkbook ledger

I've used this app for five years. Have also downloaded and tested several others during this time.
Easy to use, in fact one of the best I have found for a check book ledger. Paid version allows setting up multiple accounts to use in multiple ways (an acct to store passwords, another to log cards and membership numbers...).
I would rate a FIVE, if it also offered:
1) ability to sort any column (by payee, date, amount). Just to alphabetized would be a GREAT benefit, especially for extra accounts mentioned above. Currently, to alphabetized a "special" account, I assign Dates to each entry. So, since the app sorts only by dates most - recent first, any item beginning with "A" through "G" are dated in 2007 (assigned specific months, then days to keep them alphabetized), and so on...
2) option to have prior amount paid to same payee automatically fill. This will speed entering monthly amounts (I.e mortgage, auto payments) and a good alert if making an unintentional duplicate entry.

Checkbook Pro It's not all that great

Well, here's what I like: I like that it's a check register and you can kind of keep track of your expenses and balances. Here's what I don't like: for some reason it inserts random check numbers for transactions that don't have check numbers and won't let you edit it out so you can't be sure which one was really the check, it doesn't remember payee names so you have to re- type all your payees completely and doesn't associate certain payees with the same transaction type (I.e. utility payment) which would same time, the recurring transaction is worthless, the transfer from one account to another doesn't change your balance on either account so it's worthless, when you duplicate a transaction to save time on all the typing it inserts "copy" into the payee name (WHY?), it isn't easy to reconcile with your statement. Maybe Money spoiled me, but I want all those features on my iPad! This would be great for a young person who doesn't have a lot of transactions and just needs some basic balancing.

Checkbook Pro Just OK

I thought after reading the rave reviews, I'd be impressed, but I'm not. I tried the free version and thought maybe the issues I noted would be resolved with the full version, so I spent the $1.99, but the issues are still there: 1 - Future-dated recurring transactions deduct from balance whether cleared or not, and before the post date. 2 - There does not appear to be a way to delete a transaction once it's been entered (e.g. I couldn't delete all those recurring transactions that were duducting from the balance). 3 - The links to both the Checkbook Support and Blue Tags (developer) sites via the iStore do not work, and a search on the Inernet for Blue Tags or this app does not turn up anything useful (e.g. to figure how to delete a transaction). EDIT: After submitting the review and feedback via the app, the links to support on iStore now work (maybe their site was temporarily down), and I was able to figure out how to delete a transaction: HORIZONTAL SWIPE over the transaction.

Checkbook Pro Dramatically improved over older versions

It’s funny how such a simple concept for an app is not only crucial to managing a checking account (if you care about avoiding bounded checks), but how there is really only one app (this one) that has mastered it.

Try the free version, sure, but then buy the paid version. It is simple, exactly what a “checkbook” ledger should be, and is dramatically better than previous versions. Highly recommended.

Oh, the ONLY thing I think could be improved (and this doesn’t affect my rating at all) is the ability to share this app across multiple iPhones. My spouse and I share this checking account so it would be nice to also share the updates I make to the ledger.

This is the best checkbook ledger app for iPhone. No other app can so seamlessly, and with such simplicity, allow you to keep a perfect record of transactions, most importantly those that have not yet cleared. It is an indispensable tool for someone managing a household budget; you can easily copy the previous month’s transactions and plan ahead.

I highly, highly recommend it.

Checkbook Pro Good, just a couple things

I've been searching for a good-looking functional budget tracking app forever. There are a bunch that come close but few that look good and make it as simple as it should be. I like the redesign of this app as the old version didn't match the aesthetics of ios7 and beyond. Just a couple things would make it better. First, I think moving the "+" button for adding new transactions from the top right corner to somewhere in the bottom middle would be helpful. I know this seems like nitpicking, and it kind of is, but with the new larger phones, that top right corner is a stretch to reach even with man hands. I've seen this implementation in other apps and it is definitely preferable to have the new transaction button front and center. Second would just be to make the current running balance more prominent on the page somehow, whether using bigger font or color. Initially it took me a second to figure out where it was and its kind of the most important piece of info in a checkbook app. Just my thoughts. Other than those couple things, well done developers!

Checkbook Pro Great App, but a few annoyances

I use this app to replace another one I used to use for keeping my account balances.

The free version was great for a while until it was updated to include pop up ads in it that I always manage to accidentally click on. It became so annoying that I just attempted to buy the app, which I'm sure is the reason they got so annoying.

I clicked on the link in the app to purchase it and it said I didn't have that paid version installed on my phone, then nothing happened. I went to the App Store and purchased it then migrated data and it worked. However the App Store charged me for the same $2.99 purchase twice. I didn't fight it for $3, but that was kind of annoying.

I also wish the total balance weren't so small and hard to see in the debit/credit screen. I would just like it to stand out a little more from the background of the screen so I don't have to click back to see the balance better.

Despite these minor hiccups, all in all this is a good app for maintaining your accounts. I have yet to find a better one in the App Store. I would still recommend it.

Checkbook Pro APPLE IS TO BLAME FOR NOT REMOVING THIS APP

Where is APPLE when there’s clearly an app that needs to be removed? Are they still charging for this app? If so, it’s fraudulent because the app doesn’t work and it’s been abandoned by the developer. I already contacted Apple long ago and suggested they remove this app since it no longer works and you can contact the developer as much as you want, but good luck getting any sort of acknowledgment. Don’t bother with this app. It no longer works like it’s supposed to, mainly, you cannot sign into your account and syncing between devices no longer works. I feel like I should be offered a refund and have contacted Apple with my concerns about this app and the lack of a response. Apple has done nothing as well apparently, because the app is still available. I always believed that Apple would weed out apps like this, but I guess I was mistaken. The developer has proven to be useless and APPLE needs to step in, as this app stopped syncing in June . This is APPLE’s problem now, over 2 years since the app stopped working and they still haven’t done anything to prevent people from spending money on an app that doesn’t work.

Checkbook Pro Does what it says, sort of

The new icon is ugly. The old one was nice. I will have to hide it now because I don't put ugly apps on my homepage, I hide them in folders. I will add more about app performance after using it for a while. My last review never changed because the issues weren't resolved.

I was using another app on my iTouch and in preparation to migrate everything to an iPad 3 I found that app was no longer available for download I've only had the app a few hours that I've been inputing data from the previous app as of this writing so I really haven't had much time to spend with all the features. But the requests for review and the desire to STOP SEEING REQUESTS FOR REVIEW made me stop what I was doing and write a review.

It lets me create accounts as advertised.
It lets me put in transactions as advertised.
When I try to transfer funds from account B to Account A the balances change in the register, but the balance in account A remains the same. This is unacceptable so I have to enter them as separate deposits and withdrawals. This function does not perform as advertised.

That's 1/3 of the features that I used so far that failed. I will wait and evaluate the rest and hopefully not see a view request again. Fix the transfer between accounts balances issue and I WILL change my rating and review.

Checkbook Pro EXCELLENT APP - Poor Customer Service

I bought this application about five years ago. I upgraded to the pro version, and last year a new version came out that completely re-done the user interface. It added the ability to sync the checkbook between multiple iPhones or iPads. It said that I would not be charged again, however I was. But this application has been such a lifesaver that I did not mind paying the $4.99 again (and five bucks is not worth hassling the developer or iTunes about...unless the app sucked or was rarely used). Now, since the new update, I am a lifetime member because of my loyalty. It is well worth scrapping your paper checkbook register and using this. You will not regret it. You will be able to keep all of your accounts up to date and to the penny.

My only complaint is that I have written to the email given in the description and in the application three different times. A couple of times was a couple of years ago regarding questions about problems that I had, which I later solved on my own. Then I emailed about two weeks ago and asked a question and made a request. I have yet to hear back from that one either. Maybe my emails are going to their spam folder and they are just not getting them. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Either way, you really don’t need Customer Service now, because the app takes care of everything.

Checkbook Pro New Update Eliminates What Were Great Features

The latest update seems to make the things I originally loved about this app much harder to do. First, the cleared transactions balance is gone. It only displays the total balance and the total amount for the uncleared transactions. Yes, I can do the math and figure out the balance without the cleared transactions, but it was convenient to have that number readily available to compare to what my bank was reporting. Second issue with this update, clearing transactions now requires opening the transaction first whereas you previously needed to tap on a circle. I understand that the new look is more consistent with other apps out there, and it is more aesthetically pleasing. However, at least make this a one step process. Perhaps swiping a transaction to toggle whether its cleared? The aforementioned features had me keep using this app despite not being able to sync across devices (which, in my opinion, would have been a better feature than the others introduced with this update). However, I think it's time to start looking at other options. At least I can still export my transactions.

Update: The latest update (2.6) makes clearing items a little better. It still involves an extra step than previously, but it works better for me. What I can't figure out is what the displayed balance represents. It's different than the total balance, and it's not the cleared balance. I can't seem to figure out what it is.

Checkbook Pro Checkbook Pro for iOS on Mac Book pro desktop

Trying to open the app to get to my check register to input info. Will not open and I have to force quit it. I did see an option to allow it to access individual line item by search words. Chose Yes. Tried to open on my computer and all I get is the "wheel of death". Have tried numerous times all with the same result. Have restarted computer, did a hard restart as well. No effect on the program. First noticed it 8/4/23. I have no way of entering my new data or access over 20 years of old checking files. Totally unacceptable.

Desired outcome: Provide a means of accessing all my records and inputting new info.

Checkbook Pro Still needs work

I have a iPhone 8+ with current update. It took me 4 times to get the sync to work. Then tried to sign in on iPad and login failed. I have tried multiple times with the same result. Upgraded from one to two stars.

Checkbook Pro Fix the UPDATE from 2/21

The update will not update. It stays in the app update list forever. This causes a badge with a 1 to permanently be displayed on the App Store icon. Every time I update other apps I get a message that says, “This item is no longer available”.

I just read several reviews that say the sMe thing. I also want to update this app but when I try it says this is not available. I purchased this app less than a week ago. Started w the free app then changed to pro. Looks exactly the same. Poor business.

Checkbook Pro Garbage

I’ve used this app for YEARS and loved it. Now they updated it for the first time in two or three years and I’ve lost all my data and transactions twice. Completely unreliable and extremely disappointing. Currently looking for a new checkbook app. I’m done using this.

Checkbook Pro What happened ??

I’ve used this app for many years. And now it no longer syncs. It won’t allow me to log in on my other devices which I was originally logged into and when I send the developers an email requesting help no one answers. I’ve sent multiple follow ups and nothing. Very disappointing...

Checkbook Pro Latest Update

The latest update installed August 16 reset my data to May. This is the second time an update has caused a major malfunction with the app. I am using the paid version of the app and have done so for a number of years but after this latest issue I have zero confidence in the author or the app.

Checkbook Pro Checkbook

When I try to update to 3.3, I get a message saying “This item is no longer available.” In order get rid of the update notice on my phone, I had to delete the app and the reopen it. I lost all my checking history and had to start all over. I don’t want to have the same thing happen on my iPad.

Checkbook Pro App won’t download or

...update to the latest version. After resetting my phone, the app will not reinstall form iCloud backup. This is annoying. I thinking about deleting and reinstalling but I’m afraid that would erase all my data; three years worth. Has anyone experienced this and if so, what is your recommendation?

Checkbook Pro Issues with latest iPhone 10 update

When attempting to update through the Apple App Store I receive the following error message:
apple pending app update "this item is no longer available"
After which Checkbook pro app will not update and remains in the pending update section for 2 days now.

Checkbook Pro This notification is making me crazy

I have had an app update notification on my phone for 2 days now and when I click to update, it says the update is “no longer available” and it will not clear. Please fix this immediately for my sanity. I can send a screen shot if needed. And your support is a joke. It takes me to your page and then doesn’t give me a way to contact you. Please get this fixed.

Checkbook Pro I’m done!

Your new version dumped most of my data, so that makes my decision to delete your app and go with another program much easier. I assume all my data did not sync to the server and when I had logged out of the program and looked back in only the little bit of data that did sync came back to the phone. Very sad, your program, when working is decent, but I’m finished with it.

Checkbook Pro So.Why?

This seemed to be the best app that I’ve found to record and track numbers. However, when attempting to install the update, the response is “item no longer available.” Hmmm...that means I can not give an accurate review. What does that mean “item no longer available?” Does that mean the update or the app is no longer available. Why would developer create an update only to make it unavailable after a certain amount of time. Can someone advise?

Checkbook Pro Version 3.3

Unable to downloads V 3.3. Every time I go to app store to try to download I get a pop up message that the item is no longer available. I’m not really sure what that means. Tried going to app support page and Checkbook app is not listed on the developers support page. Not really sure what’s going on. Other than that I e had the app for over 6 yrs now and have loved it. This was the first time I’ve ever had a major issue w/it. Hopefully it will be fixed soon and I can download the update.

Checkbook Pro Worked ok until latest update

It says there is an update but when I try and update the app it says the item is no longer available. What is up with that? Is there an update or not? Update from 2/22 this item is still in my list saying it has an update and when I try get the error this item is no longer available. It is now 3/8 and this item will not clear from my update items. What is going on with this app? Do you people not know what you are doing? Why do I get an error every time I try and update? You need to clear this from the update items if there is not an update?

Checkbook Pro PAID VERSION NO LONGER SUPPORTED

So, you upgrade and pay for an app, use it for YEARS, then can’t use it anymore! VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Needs some developments.

I 1st reviewed this app 3yrs ago and absolutely LOVED it, but now I have some issues with it, mainly just 2. 1) It would be really helpful if you could backup to Dropbox, etc. and 2) cannot delete multiple Payees at same time & now you cannot delete Payees at all. It allows you to think you’ve deleted a Payee but when you go back into app the Payee is still there. So, I guess the purpose of the ‘Edit’ button is so you can only add Payees?

Checkbook Pro Cannot update app since you removed update

Update: Had purchased this app over 5 years ago and liked it since it was very user friendly. However, they updated their app and I lost all my data when the app automatically signed me out and when I signed back in all my data was lost. My wife has the app on her phone and when I went to check her phone that we had the data synced, low and behold the app had down the same thing. I feel sooo sick to my stomach and no support from the developer and I am out of luck and $2.99.
Stay away and save your money!

I am stuck with an app that I paid for and now stuck with an update that is no longer available. Please publish your update or remove the update from the App Store. 1 very unhappy customer
