Customer Service
I just called to cancel my warranty (as the monthly fee plus service charge always costs more than what it would cost me out of pocket) and the employee wouldn't listen. He kept saying, I understand, but you've been a customer since 2019, think of how much it's saved you. He wouldn't listen when I said it hadn't, wouldn't listen when I said I found a friend to help with my most recent claim (which they still hadn't found someone for) and kept trying to say they'd cover $150 of the appointment, even there was no appointment because it's being done for free (and it's just a drain that needs to be snaked). I finally just kept on having to say "I would like to cancel my plan" repeatedly and he kept say, I understand but...Then he finally snapped and said: Fine! You aren't getting a refund (I didn't ask for one) Have a nice life! And then he hung up on me. One of the worst customer service interactions I've ever had.
Lack of plumbers available on Choice home warranty list
I am having major issues with plumbing in my home. When I purchased this policy I was informed a reliable technician in required field would be dispatched within 24 hours. This has never been the case for me. This time they are expecting me to wait 3 days for someone to come out to diagnose problem. Lord only knows when the problem will be fixed. With the hundreds if not thousands of plumbers available in the Memphis area it is mind boggling that it takes 3 days to get service. You always rely on small mom & pop businesses that do not have enough technicians to handle the cases you give them. This is just plain unacceptable! Stand by what you promise people when you are selling your service. Don't just take our money and screw us over.

Washing machine
I have a Whirpool washing machine that is 25 years old with an extra large load capacity. They have offered me $343 for a replacement that is not enough money to cover any extra large load capacity washer. They said I must have proof from the manual of its cubic foot capacity. The manual does not have the cubic foot listed anywhere. I have called Whirlpool and it only shows 20 lb. load capacity. It was never printed anywhere on the machine or the manual. I would like more money for a replacement.
Desired outcome: I would like more money for a comparable replacement.

Choise home warranty Fraud
Hi,
I bought choice home warranty in the month of January and filed a claim for water heater in the month of March. The technician came and said the water heater needs to be replaced. Since it is a bigger claim they said they will not cover it and said they will pay 600 $ at the max.
When I signed up for warranty they were all nice and said any repair due to wear and tear will be covered. Now the claims department is rejecting saying it is due to pre existing condition. Which is fraud.
I asked them to cancel my warranty and at least give me a full refund since they did not do any repair call on my home.
They said they will only prorate it and refund. Thier representatives are hostile and stick to the script . This company is scam . I would advice anyone signing up for home warranty not to go with this company. This company is fraud top to bottom.
I need them to refund my full policy money at the latest and pay me for making me go through this process of theirs.

Refrigerator/coil leak
Sent man out to fix. No card/ no company. Asked to make check to him. Spent two minutes looking at refrigerator and mouse caused leak. No cover. Mice don't chew through heavy metal coils. After he left CHW denied claim. Tried to look up technician's company that CHW was sending out. No listing anywhere. Had problem before with them on a waterheater claim. They could not find anyone to represent them on claim and I had water flowing out of my ceiling. They told me to find someone myself and they would reimburse me. I did and had someone out within an hour. Had to replace heater and cost $1300. CHW refused to pay saying did not have their approval. They were the ones who told me get somebody because the could not find anyone to represent them. I later found was because they are hard to collect from.

I contacted Choice to make a service request on three problems, I was told I would have to pay a service fee of 75 dollars for each issue. I declined two issues and continued with a refrigerator icemaker and a cooktop request to be replaced or repaired. The cooktop was not repairable due to being such an old model. The service person contacted Choice, and about week later I contacted Choice to discuss the decision, on the call I was told I would be sent a Lowes card for 371.00, I would have to purchase the cooktop and also pay for installation of 100-150 dollars. After checking the price for a replacement at Lowes, I would have to add an additional 400 to 500 dollars to purchase a replacement cooktop. I disputed the decision, and was given a number to call a case manager. The number is a voicemail and I cannot talk to anyone about my issue.
Desired outcome: I would like a replacement for the cooktop, installation should be included with the service, I already paid a service fee. Choice should replace the appliance as advertised.
denials of large repairs
i am sick of trying to deal with this company..have been with them for so many years...funny thing...the two repairs they denied were the most expensive...in 2018 heater broke...for some reason they denied this...I had just had surgery and didn't want to negotiate so paid the $4000.. not a good feeling.
i had a critter of some kind tear part of my roof, .they sent a tech out who did a bid..i had explained that it was only a small part of the roof... they of course denied it...it was #792 which is outrageous for this repair...when I tried to appeal, they said they would send me $200 towards the repair which I agreed to...just had a call from them that this has been denied.
of course, I am now looking for a new warranty company... my advice...if its a little repair, they may help you...if not, forget it, you're on your own...
i took this out because my husband had died and income cut in half... the $4000 heater not in my budget..

I agree with the frustration shown above. I put in claim for two PTAC heating units repairs. It took the over 3 weeks to get a Technician after 4 time reschedule with different Vendors. Technician looked at the units and promised to come next week with parts. Now Choice denied the claim for no reason & put us with Service Manager. Service Manager was not able to explain the denial of claim and just insisted its denied. This looks like a scam to me to get your money in advance and then start calling them for any repairs.

I submitted a claim to CHW regarding a heat pump failure due to normal wear and tear.
After the technician submitted his diagnosis, nothing happened for some time, so I reached out and was told that the technician needs to also submit pictures. The technician submitted pictures and received a call from a CHW representative asking him if the unit could be repaired (which is not the case). Once the technician told him that it needs to be replaced, the CHW representative told my technician to put together a very detailed estimate so they know what the replacement costs will be. That person told the technician that the unit will be replaced.
Just about the same time I receive an email claiming that based on the initially submitted information over 2 weeks ago they determined to not cover the claim stating that corrosion caused the issue. That is very interesting, since the failure is a) due to normal wear and tear due to aging of components, b) they didn't have the pictures by the time that decision was made (so how do they know it is corrosion? making up reasons not having to pay?) and c) my technician had been told literally at the same time that the unit will be replaced.
I then appealed the claim and was told to make an appointment with the claim manager, which I did. i was told to reread my contract, so I get a better understanding. They are literally not doing anything other than taking money from people and then coming up with lame excuses as to why they won't honor a contract or why something considered normal wear and tear is not.
DO NOT USE CHW. THEY ARE A RIP-OFF and don't care about their customers. Run as fast as you can.
Home warranty
Contract # 598378851 On 3/3/2021 Choice Home Warranty scheduled a Tech (McBride Maintenance) for 7AM to 11AM. No one showed, no one called. I contacted CHW to report the no show and they rescheduled a new Tech for a wk and a 1/2 (3/13). They gave no time & said that a Tech would give me a call. I explained the 13th was not acceptable. No new appt. has been set to date. I have called them 5 times to get this corrected to no avail.
Desired outcome: I want a complete refund of my warranty, as I have only called them one time for assistance and rec'd nothing but grief.
Heating system
I have paid in advance for six years which expires in Sep. 2024. Now the motor of the Heating Furnace don't work as per the Technician they sent. They are denying the claim. This is most unheard warranty. I had call from their office and they are very reluctant to accept their responsibility and commitment. They are just trying to rip off the people. Air Conditioner
After having been a member for just about a year my AC stopped cooling and was freezing. I called CHW up and someone came out the next day.
The technician said that the unit is leaking in the coils outside and he will put in his recommendation that the unit needs replacement and they should cover it, due to the fact that it appears to be normal wear and tear. They got back to me with a denial because the unit showed "rust and corrosion" And if you read the contract AC section D, they don't mention that you have to scroll to section F to find that loophole.
So you have a unit that sits outside in Florida for 13 yrs it's bound to have some sort of rust on it and that will automatically void the claim. So what's the purpose then of having a warranty company?
I asked for them to send me the pictures so I can see it and to send someone else out, the technician even told me to appeal it because it's normal wear and tear and they still denied it due to rust and sent no pictures. I set up a callback for today at 10:30 am to further discuss and no one has called me back. They said the most common source of system failure it's a leak in the coils, and yet if your machine has any rust on it, a unit that sits outside, has basically lived its estimated life span of 10-14 yrs. they won't cover that most common cause of system failure.
They sell you on the idea of peace of mind and when they deny your claim you're left scrambling trying to figure out how you're gonna pay for this, especially during these tough times .
At least pay for half, they just leave you high and dry and ignore you hoping you'll just give up an go away

Just another complaint from the numerous customers of Choice Home Warranty.
Ultimately, the problems with CHW arise from its reimbursement practices. The reimbursement to vendors is poor and slow. As a result, only 3-rate vendors are available to them. Good ones refuse to work with CHW.
Took 5 days for the repairman to get to my house. Not good when you have a failing refrigerator. He got approval to proceed with repairs. It's now been 16 days and I'm informed the parts are still not in. That's really funny because I found 10 listings on Amazon for that part and most could be delivered the next day or within 3 days.
The technician says repairing these refrigerators is a matter of elimination. He tested nothing. He checked nothing. All he did was vacuum behind the refrigerator after it was pulled out. Of course, he used our vacuum. He's simply guessing as to what part is problematic. If his first guess doesn't fix the problem then I'm afraid we'll be waiting another 2 or 3 weeks for him to attempt repairs based on his second guess as to what's wrong.
The bottom line is, DON'T USE CHOICE HOME WARRANTY. The customer service is terrible. The repair technicians are 3-rate, at best. George Foreman should be ashamed of himself for being the face of this company.

On January 25, 2021, I filed a claim for my refrigerator (icemaker water would not stop running) and my microwave (was not heating the food). These appliances failed within a few days of each other. Approximately, three hours after filing the claim, I received an email from CHW offering a reimbursement option — I hire a technician, pay the technician, and CHW reimburse me. I passed on that option after reading so many complaints that this company was not paying its contractors, not reimbursing its customers, denying claims, etc. I have called this company several times each week and have gotten nowhere. They are saying they have been unable to find schedule a technician to come out. Well, now my refrigerator does not cool or freeze. So I called today. They claim they are still looking for a technician. I asked about filing a complaint or appeal and was told I can't do either because they are still looking for a technician. It has been almost a month. Help! Thank you.
