Don't want to cover anything
I have several homes with Choice and I hate it that I paid up front for five years. Every time I file a claim the deny it and I have to pull teeth to get them to cover the repair. Tech's are told what to say so they can say it is not covered by your policy. Most of these techs are not certified. I just had a young lady come to fix my gas stove top. She did...

I did not authorize the charges of $1485 on May 4 to my Bank of America Credit Card.
Simon Louz, the Sales Representative explained this away as a mistake that would be correct that day.
As of today, May 15, I do not see that the error made to my checking account was corrected.
I should only be charged $462.00
I will also request a dispute of charges through my bank.
I know aggressively charging is part of the sales techniques but it is also not ethical and I need my request for a credit honored.
I currently have agreed to the following:
3 years for $1, 386 with the 3 monthly payments of $462.00.
But maybe I should not continue in this business transaction.
Expecting excellence customer service,
DeCarla Mittman
Desired outcome: Refund for the full amount and the opportunity to find a better partnership.
They offered 30 cents on the dollar when applaince needed replacment
April 20 call. April 21 tech arrives . Wait 17 days for part. Part installed another issue, need new appliance. Choice offers 30 cents on the daollar. Wait 5 days to discuss claim, they call once, i miss the call by 2 seconds, they do not answer call back within 2 minutes of my call. They said a 15 minute time slot and i called before their voice mail was complete. Cannot talk to anyone now wait another 20 days to have them call back 45 days before i can talk to someone if they do not hang up before i pick up
Desired outcome: give me dollar as per contract. Actual replacement cost
Takes too long for repairs to be completed
I have had 4 different people come out to check an appliance and it's been about 2 months and the repair hasn't Been completed yet.
Make sure you check other companies before you spend money with this company.
HVAC Unit
We were customers for over two years with minimal claims. Our AC unit became inoperable and we filed a claim. Air Today was the assigned provider who stated the unit required replacement. After filing the claim that day, the representative informed me that the claim was denied. I contacted Choice Home Warranty who stated there was corrosion on the outside unit. We felt there was more than likely corrosion over time but it obviously was operable for the past two years while Choice Home Warranty covered the product. We contacted our claims representative, Aaron Santiago, who basically told my husband there was nothing they could do for us when asked that question (what can you guys do for us?). When I called to cancel service, I was passed around to 10 representatives who were mere salesmen until one stated that Choice Home Warranty could us with a discounted unit. We paid about $2000 less than we would have to pay another provider so that was a win; however, the fact that our claims representative was the worse. So bad that we have canceled and will be switching back to American Home Shield. We will NEVER deal with Choice Home Warranty again...just plain old scammers.
Desired outcome: Done. Stick a pin it.
Home warranty
The Choice Home Warranty was included in the purchase of my home. This organization is absolutely relentless in trying to get you to renew. They call, text and email. When they call, they are not easily put off with an "I'm not interested." They just keep pushing at you until you have to hang up.
Getting them to stop contacting you reminds me of the Hotel California song. Once you have a warranty, you can never leave (or in this case, never stop hearing from them). After asking them on a couple of recent calls to stop calling me and put me on their do not call list, I still get emails and text messages so I decided to call them this morning.
After waiting 15 minutes on hold, I got transferred to another person. Then when I got to her, I once again got transferred. After about 1/2 hour, I think I may have gotten to the right person to actually cancel all future contact with this organization. And yes, I did have an option for a call back, but I really didn't want to do anything to encourage them to call me (after requesting that they not do so).
Bottomline -- It should not be this hard to say no to a company. No means no. It doesn't mean keep calling, texting and emailing until someone gives in. This is borderline harassment.
The number I called in [protected]. I hope I got my issue resolved with my recent call to Choice Home Warranty. I just don't want this to happen to other people.
Desired outcome: For Choice Home Warranty to re-examine its overly aggressive sales practices
Central air conditioning/HVAC
Today is May 7, 2021. Claim was filed on April 11, 2021. Within first 24 hours they could not find service provider and offered reimbursement option. We accepted and had technician come out next day for evaluation.
After repeated correspondence attempts/failures, tracking claim via email as instructed, missing work for appeal process scheduled phone appts (2 of which they did not keep), and outright lies regarding service provider reports and contacts (even going so far as to say they [Choice] had actually spoken directly to technician); we have been denied for a reason the service provider did not even give them but falls under a non covered section in contract. Choice is not willing to offer a dime to repair or replace system (recommended by provider/see below photo of report from provider). Choice is saying provider states "rust and corrosion" [Section F item #1 in their non covered section of contract] as cause of the system failure. Service provider in every way has tried to contact, send additional information, etc (anything we have requested of them) to Choice for review.
Choice merely restates their position/decision.
Choice has totally misrepresented themselves. They do not provide satisfactory customer service, purposefully seem to deny any claim as a first response, have no one beyond case manager to speak with in the company regarding dissatisfaction or difficulties with claim/claim process/customer concerns and they merely repeat Choices decision to you, and everyone you speak with via phone will overspeak/overtalk you in any contact you have with them. Choice is negligent in their responsibilities towards the product/service they say they provide their clients. They need to be held accountable.
Desired outcome: Replacement of system as recommended by service provider
Mislead and won't cancel contract.
This company was bad from the start. First we were mislead what the company offered. We were also told claims would happen within 24 hrs. It took days. The person who talked us into this plan Sal, said we could contact him at any time. We tried but he never responded to his emails. We sent this company numerous e-mails to cancel our contract and phone calls which they hang up on us. We finally had to notify our bank to stop all payments. I would say never ever use this company.
Desired outcome: Poor, they were charging us monthly even though we cancelled
Water heater
Choice Home Warranty charged us $300.00 for excluded parts when no excluded parts were included for the installation of a water heater. After I placed the order for the water heater to be repaired, we paid the $65.00 service charge. Thereafter, I received an email that, in addition to the $65.00 service charge it would costs an additional $300.00 for...

We bought a multi-year policy with Choice Home Warranty. So far they have covered a couple of problems, such as our dishwasher and a leak in our refrigerator, but several bigger issues will not.
At present they refuse to fix our jacuzzi that has a leak.
This is getting ridiculous. A repairman was dispatched who thought the little rubber valves in the faucet were the problem; however, also he says there must be a problem in the pipes below. That involves cutting out some tile on the side of the jacuzzi about 2' wide x 1' high. The cost the repairman says is about $600. He says Choice Home Warranty will not cover it. So why do we have insurance?
Desired outcome: fix the jacuzzi; it leaks; as far as we know the pipes below that are covered have a problem. So tile would have to be cut, the pipes fixed, the tile replaced.
Electrical
On [protected] I submitted a claim on my policy #[protected] for electrical repair. I did so via the online request for service. The form said I was eligible for a free service call and asked if I wanted to use it on this call. I checked "Yes". Below that was a policy expiration reminder which asked if I wanted to renew at that time. I answered "No." BW Electrical arrived the next day and before he would even hear what was going on said he had to collect $45. I told him I had a free service call and he said that was between me and the company and he couldn't do anything until I resolved it. After several phone calls I received a call back from a Customer Service Agent (name unknown) who said I didn't read the submittal form properly. He said I wasn't eligible for a free service call because I didn't renew. I did read the form and nowhere on there did I see such stipulation. He was arrogant and condescending and I eventually hung up on him and paid the $45. The service tech was extremely unprofessional and did not resolve my issue. He said the needed repair was beyond the scope of the warranty and that he would have to charge around $480 and would have to tear out my wall to find the problem. I have had it with Choice Warranty as this is what always happens when I need repairs. I cringe every time I think I need to file a claim because it is always a battle with them. I have also informed other customers that I referred not to renew. We are all done.
Desired outcome: I want a $45 refund from Choice or from BW Electrical.
This Complaint site has been very helpful, and I wish I had read this before I signed up with Sal in November 2020. Sal is a great salesman. I filed my first claim in April of 2021 to get my dishwasher repaired. Choice arranged for a company to come, and the tech told me that I just needed to have my filter cleaned. When I ran the unit later, I realized that my dishwasher had not been fixed, same problem. I am into May now, the tech's company will not respond to me or CHW rep. Finally, on May 8, CHW rep said they would reassign my claim, and I would not pay the $60 service fee again. May 10, I got an email from CHW that I needed to get my own tech but I would not pay for service call (had rules for the company I chose--like take pictures). Later today I received an email that Choice had found someone named Mike who could come tomorrow. I am not feeling good about him either. Just have a bad feeling about CHW's business practices. This Complaint site confirmed my beliefs that I made a bad choice in selecting this home warranty company. Even though Sal said that I could get a refund if I wasn't happy (3 year contract), I see that this is going to be an uphill battle but I am going to try. George Foreman has lost creditability for sure. HINT: If Sal or anyone calls with an offer to sign up with Choice Home Warranty--hang up. Moreover, if you search the web like I did, don't respond to a Choice rep.
GE washing machine
I have been your client since 1/05/2017. My contract number is [protected], residence 9040 Stillwater tr., Ft Worth 76118.
TX 76118. Phone [protected]. I have never had any problem with Choice Warranty, service is very good and your associates are very helpful. My problem is with the company which was sent to repair our machine. The service personnel sent to do the job appears not to have any knowledge of what they are doing and the repair is according to then done. Three (3) times they have been to the house and every time something according to them has been replace and the machine still is not working properly. On the SECOND visit we had to pay another $45.00 because it was another visit. Now on 04/23/21 two (2) technician came to the house and place a "board" in the machine and stated it is fixed. Now we have no cold water, the machine does not fill up and we have to go to the Laundromat. These technician do not know what they are doing and Choice is paying for a poor service and we have no satisfaction. See what Choice is are able to do, and by the way I do not think we should pay for another service. This is going on since on 04/12/21 .PLEASE ADVISE ON THE RESULT OF THIS INQUIRY. Need the service with good repair personnel. Thanks. Narciso Ortega
Desired outcome: Send another company that has knowledge on how to fix a GE washing machinela
Dishwasher water not draining
On March 25 2021, Choice home warranty sent a repairman to repair my dishwasher. The man came to the house, and looked at the dishwasher and let me know that a drain hose needed to be replaced. He said he would order one and retun to complete the job. After 10 days I called the company to tell them what happened when the repairman was here. They contacted him to ask about the job. He told them he could not remember our house. They arranged another repairman to return on 4/26/2021, between 3 and 8 pm.
He did not show up between these hours, and I have lost total confidence in this company to get this job done. I want a refund of the $75 I spent on the repairman when he was here, and I want my contract investment refunded to me for non-performance. That was $480.00. My contract number is [protected]. Contract term 11-16-2020 to 12-16-2021.
My home address: 1896 Palm Place, Valdosta GA 31602
Desired outcome: Refund of $75 paid to repairman who did not complete the job +$480 paid for the coverage.
Choice Home Warranty - Coverage over HVAC Unit Denied, AFTER it was Approved
Choice Home Warranty offered us home warranty coverage here in the state of North Carolina, as they regularly do business here. We had an issue where our heat-pump went out, whereby be followed the proper channels and contacted Choice. We were told on multiple occasions, both in writing and verbally, that we could hire our own repair business, given that where we live, Catawba County, NC, has an extremely small number of technicians that are willing to come and service our area. After we told Choice to find us a company, they did and that company submitted ALL of the necessary documentation to Choice, just as they were instructed, which required that the system be replaced. Choice would not work with that company anymore, and that company informed us to try with another repair business because Choice kept asking for the same data over and over again, even though it was provided. A 2nd repair business was elected by Choice, whereby they came to the property, performed the assessment services, and concluded as well that the system needed to be replaced. They too submitted all of the documents to Choice, as required, and then in writing, informed us that Choice had denied the coverage and replacement again. We contacted Choice thereafter once again, and was verbally informed that we could hire our own repair business, whereby when we did, we then received an APPROVAL email from Choice for the replacement of our system, but with the previous repair business which had told us that Choice denied our claim. At this point in time, we had spent the $8k to have the system replaced, because the system went out in the middle of the winter, whereby Choice has since repeatedly denied upholding their "approved" coverage of the replacement system. We have documentation to support the claim that this was approved and that this should be covered and thus we should be compensated by Choice.
Desired outcome: Our replacement costs reimbursed minus the deductible we were quoted
Exact same situation we are dealing with here in VA, and they will not let you out of the contract with compensation for remaining years to be covered. Horrible customer service showing no concern for consumer; always repeating the same information back to you. It's like they are scripted.
Home warranty
Just got the warranty and can't get anyone to give me help. Three weeks now. The sales person Sal M who had me sign up lied to me about the coverage. He gave me his e-mail if I need help and never responded Stay away from this company.
Hot water tank
What a joke this company is...
They called me almost every month for a year, telling me how much better they are then super.
Needless to say, I bought the policy over the phone without getting any sort of contract or coverage information...
So when a problem did come up with my water heater, they wanted to come up with every reason in the book as to why they would not cover it.
So I said, fine, I want my money back and to cancel the contract.
They pleaded with me over the phone not to cancel and that they would cover the hot water tank replacement and even waive the $45 service charge.
Needless to say, the first service provider they set me up with, never showed or called on the service appointment date.
The second service company showed up and reported back to choice that the tank was shot and needed to be replaced... Needless to say, they did not cover it...
I was not all giddy about having super for my home warranty, but at least super did honor a replacement of my built-in microwave oven when it stopped working. Choice still has not refunded any of my money back...
Desired outcome: Full Refund
plumbing
I have choice Home warranty and my upstairs bathroom pipe started to leak from my ceiling call Choice home warranty In February15? 2021 and today is April 20 2021 and no one has been out. If i don't keep making payments every month the will close my claim.
This is so wrong

Microwave
Claim #[protected]
Please reconsider the amount you are giving us for replacement. We wii pay $350microwave+$160 labor. You know we need a new one so why no money for labor. Why not send the service person back to install.
We are disappointed in the amount given. We are not a satisfied customer. We won't be able to replace the microwave until we get the voucher, a month in the future.
You are not making it easier for the customer.
Desired outcome: More money for the replacement and labor to replace microwave.
electrical light bathroom
I first call CHW on my light fixture not working and they scheduled a electrician to come out and fix the light. The electrician removed some type of safety fuse from the light and said it would be fine. About 5 weeks later the light quit working again and I contacted CHW again and they made me pay another service fee for the same light. Then the electrician told me that he would have to come back to replace the part in the light. I contacted CHW again and ask when will this service technician be coming back to complete the job. CHW came back and said that the tech. said that the job was finished and that they are not going to replace the probably a $5.00 socket that is bad. Every time I call this company for service, I get every reason in the world as to why my claims are denied. I have made up my mind, I will never do business nor recommend this company to anyone.
Desired outcome: replace the outlet
Pipe/plumbing issue
We had a choice warranty for several months came right out of our account and the first time we ever called was about a linkage in the garage from the AC unit. Turned out to be arrested time after paying a $78 fee to the technician he said he was turning into Choice warranty to see if they will cover it. They denied it and my husband called them and argued with them come to find out if rust or corrosion is involved they will not cover it. And then I'll get on and read all these complaints about that they don't really fully cover the full price of a replacement when needed anyway. Obviously we canceled at that moment and did a lot more homework and apparently American home shield which is listed as number one which is who I wanted to go will does cover things such as plumbing with rust and corrosion. Choice warranty does not say what they're going to do it's all a liar and you're just paying money for nothing. And then you have to pay the service charge so you're actually throwing money away
We are not a shamed to tell you who we are. Our names are Christy and William Warner and we live in Texas and we own our own home in a nice neighborhood. It has been kept up even after disasters like Harvey and the recent ice issue and had it up for sale a few months ago and received several offers within three days all at the actual cost that we were selling it for so it's not like it was a dump where we ignore things such as plumbing. I'm just glad he was only a few months that we actually had that company. Please if I can help anybody save money in these hard times don't use them they are just stealing from you.
