I am upset because they do not have a website to check the balance on your account. They also have very high interest rate. Eventhough I paid off one of my loans early. They still are charging me 29.9%. Why do they charge such a high interest rate? I am very upset.

I am researching complaints about Citifinancial before I sign on 'the dotted line' with them. Good thing as the fellow on the phone was very persistent (and personable) and wanted my to gather my papers and come into the office asap.

If you had have asked me three hours ago if I was going to transfer my mortgages and loans to Citifinancial, I would have said "Definitely!" After reading some of these reviews, I am not so confident.

How can a financial institution as large and well-known as Cityfinancial not have online statement/payment access? Why are their interest rates similar to a department store's? We all know we should stay away from those rates? Why are they so keen to foreclose on homes? Are they a bank - or are they just money handlers? Legitimate shark loaners?

I am trying to find and pay off my citifinancial loan and no one at any of the offices will give me information on how to do this. Every time I call one of there offices they tell me my account has been transferred and that they cant tell me anything about it because if the fact that it is no longer in there office. I stated that I just wanted to know where to send the check since I was behind on my payments due to losing my job and the refuse to give me any information on my loan. This company is one of the rudest companies I have ever come across and I will not deal with them ever again!

After not being able to access a CitiFinancial website to make payments or to access my account infomation, I googled this website.

Needless to say, I wish I had read these comments before I made a personal loan at CitiFinancial 4 months ago. Till today, I still don't know my balance or how much it would take to pay off my bill.

Same here. After reading the complaints against Citifinancial, I will never consider a loan with them as well. I have heard horror stories about this institution from several different associated friends and decided to look it up to get first hand information. Not recommended for sure.

The only comment I have is people complaining about the rate. You know what the rate is before you sign any papers, you have the decision to go somewhere else if you can qualify for better. The reason rates here are higher than banks is because they are more lenient then banks are. Chances are if you are getting the highest rate, you probably wouldnt have qualified somewhere else

THEY DO NOT WANT YOU TO MOVE YOUR LOAN> I HAVE BEEN THERE WITH THEM WHEN THEY WERE AMC BUT AT LEAST WHEN THEY WERE AMC THEY TREATED THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH RESPECT>THEY CAN"T STEAL YOUR MONEY THEN> YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A LONG HARD ROAD TO GETTING THE INFO YOU NEED

CITIFinancial is a big ripoff! The interest is toooooo high! 27% interest on a $6000 loan! What the heck was I thinking? I will never do that again. Thank God I paid them off!

Citifinancial is the place to go for fast cash for emergencies and debt consolidation. the APR is higher than your typical credit cards because it is a revolving account, higher than your mortgage because it is not secured against your home higher than your auto loan because it is not secured against an auto as well. They also have to borrow from another lender because they are not a bank. The service is what you pay for. You don't have to call an 800 number and use an automated system and the branches are local and personal. I can't speak for all of the reps that work there however I know they will bend over backwards to help you if you are in a financial bind. They have recently started the online service but I'm not sure why people are that upset that you can't check your balances online. I know it is incovenient but don't you review your statements when you get them through the mail? Try calling your mortgage co., auto co and your creditors and see how easy they are working with you to lower your payments. Good luck. At least Citifinancial has the ability to work with you in case you need a deferment, lower payment and help you get your cash the same day you need it.

Tina411. You are a ###ing idiot. You sound like a representative masking deceit with delusions of generosity. They area business and it is not your money you are getting form them to begin with. They do not bend over backwards to help you do anything besides get in debt. I urge any and everyone who comes here to never ever get a loan from any financial (ripp off) institution or bank. They don't care about you. Money and profit is the motivator and they will stab you in the back if you can't repay the loan. They are legalized sharks and will ripp your ###ing heads clean off. Service? It is not a service. They are not doing you any favors. If you are going to borrow, how beyond a shadow of a doubt that you can pay it back within a month. Then again if you could do that, they wouldn't loan you ### in the first place because they will be losing money if you aren't tied to them paying interest and finance charges for the long haul. Wake the ### up America!

i had the worst experience from citi financial bankas i have taken a loan against my house hold property which was 1 crore ten lakhs(1, 10, 00, 000) And during this tenure i have been exploited as much as the bank officials could have .
As it has been more than 3 years i am paying the emi properly of 1 lack and 35 thousand .
And from the last 6 months i have been requesting them for the for clouser and the bank officials are just delaying it by saying that you pay this months emi then they will settle the account with us .
And after that they started saying that you pay us 90 lakhs and your loan account will be closed . And now i Am roaming around after the officials for settlment and am asking the concerned person to take the amount but now he has started saying by exploiting us that we need to pay 1 crore 5 lakh ruppees .
...This is just a cheating with us ...
we have payed the bank around about 38 lakh ruppees till date on the loan of 1 crore and 10 lakh AND STILL THE OFFICIALS ARE ASKING FOR 1 CRORE 5 LAKH RUPPEES ..
I am totally shocked and am getting under depression for this thing .

CitiFinancial prey on people with fair or below credit. Anyone with Good to Excellent credit would never consider a loan through them. They wait to tell the person in need of the money about the insane interest rate until the paper check is in your hand. So anyone who needs say $3000 immediately for whatever reason is not going to say no. Then you start to get your bills and notice that most of your payment is going to interest, and a fraction to the principle. The payoff amount is always different than the 'balance' although they tell you there is no prepayment fee..bull [censor]. Today, I went back in there because I needed to borrow a tiny bit more money, they've been mailing me, calling me and e-mailing me daily about how I'm pre-approved for more money. I didn't want to do it because of the interest rate, but I figured it would be easier than trying to go through a different institution. Well, because I am now an Independent Contractor or 'self-employed' the woman wouldn't even try to get me the loan. I figured they were such crooks they wouldn't care what you did for a living as long as you paid your interest on time. Jeez.

CitiFinancial should be outlawed for USURY Interest practices. Think about it- 10 million people paying $70+ p/month in interest =$700, 000, 000 or more a MONTH in interest payments. Really? How greedy can you be? Do you think they donate any of that money to charity or just use it to line the pockets of politicians so they can continue to screw over America?

ifnotinlife!. You just proved what kind of idiot you are. I am far from being an idiot. I have A+ plus credit, and I read my documents before I sign them. It's ignorant and uneducated people like you that make the economy what it is. Blame the banks all you want but you signed up for it! It's funny how people don't complain when they get the check in their hand but all of a sudden want to complain about the rate. You have a disclosure not, where it clearly states the APR and I am positive that it should be the first thing you ask when you apply for the loan. All loans are interest bearing loans, if you don't understand then take a finance classs! And Moorebuffalo, they do not have a prepayment penalty. You have fees when you first sign up for the loan, which you do not have to pay upfront or have to pay interest on. Therefore they include it in the payoff! Check your disclosures.

According to the Criminal Code of Canada, any rate of interest charged above 60% per annum is considered criminal and this is just what Citifinancial is doing, file a complaint agaist these people. Contact the Newspapers and maybe W5 to see if they want to report on these Criminals.

Its interesting that there are so many CitiFinancial employees posting here calling people stupid, they must pay you well to committ a crime every single day against people I think its that you don't like the fact that the people who come there have better jobs than you, you can't get any decent jobs since you are sneaky and slimmy dirtbags. Loser sue the animal and put them out of business.

I took a loan with Citifinancial last year. I knew from the get go that the interest was going to be 30.99 %. I still went ahead. I made extra payments and got my loan from 9000 in December to about 5500 now. I can agree that their interest is severely high. However, they tell you that upfront. I needed the money and now I'm paying for it. I look forward to the day that I pay them off in full. I would not be willing to borrow anymore from them. If I don't have the money to support myself than I wont make specific purchases and just cut back. Not sure if their on-line statements are new? I'm persoanlly able to log on to my account and see my payments. I don't think they're crooks. They are doing their job and conveniently getting people money. The lady that helped me went over everything in detail and explained how much interest I would be paying.

I used companies like Citifinancial years ago and never had a problem with them. I'm thinking of applying to Citifinancial to get out of the hole I'm in and would like $7, 000. The interest rate will be high as my credit hasn't been the best. I'm going to think a lot about it and then possibly do it.

Hey, maybe I'll win the lottery before then!

Citifinancial is criminal. Yes, you have a higher interest rate, yes you do sign on the dotted line. However, what you do not expect is to find out that you take a loan for $7000, with interest over so many months is $15000 and they report to your credit companies that you actually took out $20K... When you call to ask why and what can be done to resolve it, you speak to the same person three times and they give you three different answers, why? because they don't think you will follow through. Then when you do, they change what they say. Secondly, they have no problem calling you within your grace period to harrass and carry on with any telephone number they have on you. The customer service sucks and yes I do get better service at other companies... and I had the gut feeling something wasn't right and should have walked out before I signed on the dotted line and I didn't. Now I am screwed...

@annofbigbeach you will never get away from them you think you have paid them off and up they come with more you owed claiming it was interest you didn't pay or they didn't charge. Post again after you think your account has been paid and see what happens. I hope it works for you but I'm sure it won't.

Well I got a meeting with a lawyer on Mar 16th to see about filing a Class Action against Citifinancial I can't wait I just hope this man can and will help. I'm in Canada so when and I say when because I'm hopeful I get the class action going I will post the info here.

One thing people don't realize and I just found this out is that the amount your borrow is doubled before they even start interest and they don't tell you that. My son's friend is a finance person and he said that he would guess that they have charged me over a 120% on the amount I borrowed and he just did a quick figure. If you borrow $7000.00 to is actually a $13000.00 loan because they add almost 100% of the amount you borrow to the loan and call it the "cost of borrowing" amount, than they charge you 30% interest on top of that. They tell you that if you pay the equal payments they provided in the time period they provide it will be paid off but this is not possible since they charged additional interest so at the end you still owe money they will lie and say NO but its true. We need to put these people out of business please make sure you tell anyone your know what they are like and tell them not to go to them for a loan.

I was approved for 10, 000 loan at Citifinancial at Strawberry hill in Surrey, BC Canada today after getting all the papers they needed, paystabs, t4, etc. The account manager her name is TINA, phoned me and said I was approved and bring a void cheque and I can pick up the 10k cheque right away. I went to the branch and after everything was processed, I told her I don't need any insurance because I have disability and unemployment insurance alreadry. She told me she need to contact the main office and wait. After 2 minutes she said they can only give me 6, 000 without the insurance, " I said are you kiddin' me!? 2 minutes ago you are ready to write me a cheque for 10k.". The difference of payment is about $100 bucks with that insurance, with 32% interest rate and the payment will be $435 a month for 5 yrs. I pointed to her the sign on her desk the " Customer Rights" about other product including insurance, which you can turn down any offers like that. And she said because of my poor credit I need the insurance, I said that is nothing to do with my credit. And she went out of the room and said she will phone the main office, I look outside I didn't see/hear her pick up a phone. When she get back in her desk and random fingers the keyboard (because I know I'm a computer guy) she said I was turn down of the loan. What a joke! Very unprofessional... I told her I have a bad feeling with from the start, just cancel my application and give me all the my papers. Thank god I did not sign any dotted lines. Beware of this branch/company.

@joedodge you did good trust those feelings. The insurance you would be paying for was from their company, you are paying the money directly to them they don't allow you to choose the company to get insurance from so its all a scam. My step-dad had a loan from them and had insurance he had a heart attack and was out of work they refused to pay out the account through insurance he had to get a lawyer to get the account paid. They are sneaky.

i was approved of 4, 000 only.and it goes to 8, 800 because of the higher interest, my monthly payment is five hundred seventeen in 24 months but because im just a single mom i just did 3 payments and in the fourth month i was late cause i only defend on my check and then they started to call me even at work almost 5 to 6 times so i decided to go to the branch to talk to them to make an arrangement to lower down my monthly payment since i didnt get the full 4000 because of the insurance they offered me but they did not listen instead they suggested me to go to the credit aid located at the back of their office since they really harrassed me i go to that credit aid i thought it would help me. im paying 525.00 every month for 2 years and i notice that they did not pay the minimum payment to my other credit cards ending the minimum payment of my one credit card is almost 500 i asked them aboit it but they said just ignore it as long as they did not call you, which is really stupid !i m still the one who will suffer to pay for the minimum payment once the creditors call me although im giving 525 a month
they just focused to pay the citi financial of 225. 00 dollrs so i decided to pay my 2 credit cards then i decided to pull out all my credit cards even the citi financial and the guy from the credit aid get mad on me and he force me to keep paying the citi financial to credit aid but i refuced, the following day the branch manager name pat call me and forcing me to go back to credit aid but still i said no! since then almost everyday she phoned me and she told me ok if you want to pay directly here i let you know cause i need an approval from my district manager so i said ok.. after 2 hours she phoned again and she told me that she need to re adjust everything that i will start from the beginning i asked her what happend to the money that i pay to the credit aid for 2 years cause the last bill i had to citi is 4000 but i forgot to mention that bill was 2014 and its 2015 now ;; she said yeah your balance is 3999.99 she said. if you have 4000 then i can close this anytime but i said no i just borrowed 4000 and i already make a payment of 1500before i go to the credit aid then when i was in the credit aid the guy name renz ask me to give him 800 dollrs his reason is because i have one month late payment to citi plus the half month payment . plus the 2 years payment in credit aid but she said that will goes to the interest you still owe money to citi iwas reallly confused whats going on so iasked her to give me the copy of the payment from credit aid then she started yelling at me like shes dictating me what to do! and she ask me to go to the branch to make a payment on march 31 that i need to be there at 9 before i start to work so i go there at 9 o clock and when iwas there she act like shes mad and she said i thought your gonna give me a call ? i said no because you told me to be here at 9 that i need to make a payment at this time.then she still mad. by saying yeah but you still need to call me cause i need to get the approval before i accept your money! then i just didnt say anything cause i was thinking that shes really stupid whats the difference of giving her a call if i was there personally . then it took 45 min she act like shes busy in her computer while shes not doing anything then she said she need to go the office to talk to the district manager then she go to the one room and stay there for just 3 mins. i know theres no one there cause when she enter the room the lights are off and blinds in the door are still down i just shake my head after a while when she sit in her chair she act like shes busy again infront of computer ..i was wondring why she didnt show up anything or print anything in the computer to explain it to me ..i always heard the word approval .. and she told me to go outside for just 5 min cause she need to call the another manager for the approval i know that everything that happened that time is weird full of lies, , and after 5 min i go back then i asked her why dont you get my payment for this month she said i cant accept anything im not allowed i need to wait for the approval, , im still confused but since im getting late to my work i told her that maybe ill be back later im getting late i noticed that she started to panic then she told me you know what why dont you make a payment now i just give you a temporary receipt then comeback later! since im getting late i just go to what she said since shes giving me a receipt but when i go back i was wondring why they just wait for all the costumer to left then she call me i noticed that they started to closed the blinds and locked the door but then i just ignored it then after that she said i need to add extra 16 dollrs to the payment that i did thats the request of the person who give the approval then i was wondring why they only put 16 dolllrs to the receipt from the computer while i gave her tythe 500 so i asked her why she did not include the 500.00 she said you have the receipt already. i said yeah but this is just temporary its better if your giving me from your record in your computer . and i was wondring why my receipt in the computer my balance is only 3219 and they just deducted the 16 dollr and the 500, 00 is not included but i just keep all the questions in my mind cause shes yelled me everytime i asked her .then she give me the contract indicating adjustment of term aggrement and she told me to read it and signed it i told her can i take it home cause i need to ask advice from my friend if i need to sign this then she yelled me again and she said no! that illegal! so i said then i will never sign this, , she said you have to! i asked her why do you need to mention the 8800 again do i need to pay this again i dont understand she said what you dont =understand?! just read it i said iknow but still confussing i just need to ask my friend before i signed this or if i need to signed this .theres a lot of argument that goes betwwen the 2 of us and she force me to signed it cause they are close already'' i said i need to understand everything i dont understand... she said then said what you dont understand?! i said everything then she said you know what you need to sign that or else you cant get the approval to accept the payment and you will go back to credit aid.! i said no.. then she said you know what were closed were just staying here because of you then i heard this guy said im having a heart attact here ..even if i donty understand whats in the contract cause its 3 pages and she wants me to read everything in 10 seconds i just signed but before i signed i asked her i just want to clear i only pay the balance of 3219 not the 8800 she said yes! i signed it not because i want too because i feel i was abused that time the way she yelled me at dictating everything and they laughed everytime she yelled me, , hoping that they can do something to stop this.. people are being harassed and digraded just because of the small amount of money, , this kind of people wil never stopped in their wrong way of treating like were under their power althought they took to much money from their clients.

"Tren" Trenecia at Citi Financial Mortgage is the biggest *** ever! Her tone of voice totally *** and she's very condescending. I hate her! And so would you if you've ever had the putrid pleasure of speaking to her! Their total customer service ***. They keep transferring you to someone else after you've been on hold and already gave your information a few times already, and sometimes you even get disconnected. Their phone tree is really bad and so are all the employees in customer service, if that’s what they call it. I wish I never had dealings with them, had I known, my God, I swear I would have gone anywhere else but there!

Unfortunately, sometimes calls get put through to the wrong department. If you know what department you need to be transferred to, I would advise you to let the agent know before you go any further. If they need to transfer you, get the number for that department before they do so. I hope this advice helps.

More info: Sometimes an agent may need to attempt to lookup the account before they can determine which department to send the call. This may be an inconvenience, but sometimes the agent will have to obtain the location code before the correct department is determined. Please be patient with the agents who respond. They are simply doing their job and trying to assist you.
