App doesn’t work completely, no customer service
The class side of it is ok. If you are a parent there is a homedojo button that advertises a free trial for dojo points to use at home, then $2.99 per month. I subscribed to the free trial and it doesn’t allow me to use it. It originally gave me access to some videos to do with the kids (which I wanted the dojopoint parts of the app not the videos). I could only access those for like an hour then they went away. Ever since the home dojo button disappears the majority of the time. When it is there I press it and it gives you the option to do the trial... that I already signed up for... then I click that and it pops up a message saying I’m already subscribed today I got a message above my kids reports that said you can give your kids dojo points at home, I clicked it and it said I had to subscribe to a $4.99/ month service... um it originally said $2.99 and still says on my plan... long story short the app doesn’t work but for your teacher reports. I’m assuming it’s working for messaging, don’t trust that messages are necessarily coming through seeing the rest of the app doesn’t work. I’ve contacted technical support twice. I just get an automated reply. And yes I’ve already updated the app. So I hate to resort to it but a poor review is what you get. I’ll have to make sure I cancel my free trial because I’m sure the pay feature works just fine. I guess it’s a plus they offer trials before you spend your money on a nonfunctional app.
App is good but way too many clicks to see what I want
I personally like the app, however I wish that it doesn’t take too many clicks for me to view my children’s points. When I open the app, throughout the day, I am only interested in viewing my children’s progress points. Before the recent update (March ) when I open the app, I have to click REPORTS, then my child’s name before I see their points. I feel like I should at least be given an option which tab I want to open first when I click the app, it defaults to STORIES. I do not send teachers any messages, at least that is not the first thing that I want to do when I open the app. Now after the most recent update, when I click the app, I have to click REPORTS, then my child’s name, then click the week before I see their points, after that I have to x out then click my other child’s name then the week to see my other child’s point. The multiple clicks every time I want to view the points in my opinion is too much. If you look/check the app once a day or if you only have 1 child, maybe its ok, but for people like me who looks at it multiple times per day(with more than one child) this gets really annoying to click on multiple things before I can get to what I needed to see. All Im asking is an option to select what you want to view first (like change my default to Reports) and lessen the clicks after opening the app to see my children’s points because that is what I want to see more than any of the other tabs/icons in the app. Thank you!
Gifted and Talented Teacher
With all the ridiculous amounts of data required these days--this app/program helps to make the process seamless. I love Class Dojo so much that my students and parents have fallen in love. I need a new job promoting and mentoring for it! My students have thrived with the social emotional and growth mindset activity (new and old should be readily accessible!) The DAILY feedback has been KEY for improving behaviors, rewarding top students, and communicating daily--effortlessly with my parents. I have the notifications turned off but I find myself checking for fun! It is safe and private social media for the classroom community. I take pictures and 30 second videos, letting parents be 'a fly on the wall' so to speak. The program has helped me to grow as an educator and truly enriched my teaching life by deepening student-teacher-parent communications. I have totally changed my language when it comes to behavior reporting and my students go out of their way to be 'caught' being kind and helpful. I have been very creative with points and students have also contributed to certain points.
Thank you so much for all you do!
Some helpful feedback:
Parents would really love to download/print or purchase photos I take...
The updates have been great but keep them coming! I have had the app shut down from time to time. I use it on my laptop mostly, by even there in given an error message when I add points from two different computers and my phone.
Class dojo
I really like this app and the support it provided to parents and children! My only complaint would be the pricing. That’s a hefty amount to pay just to check read statuses and to be able to access content and point based student encouragement. I understand it costs a lot to maintain the app and site, however if there was a way possible to have different pricing and more offer ability to access different items and games, etc., I do believe I would 100% be more willing to pay for more services. But at even $6 a month, that’s half the price or equal to most streaming monthly or annual, price points.
I did wish there were more ways to help parents and their children with resources on this app, as well as games and other interaction possibilities! I think this is innovative, rewarding and a very easy application to use and would definitely recommend it and would subscribe if the pricing was not so steep. More likely to be willing to pay the full price, if there was a lot more to offer than read statuses, (which should be allowed anyway for peace of mind) and access to point and emotional support stories and lessons. I do love the emotional and other supportive learning videos and the concept, but it is very expensive to pay for this content. I wish I could afford to support this application, but it’s truly too expensive! Thank you class DoJo… your company is obviously working and a amazing platform. Just see room for improvements at this price!
Used to love this app
I CANNOT EVEN LOG IN on my iPad now because I am unable to type the letters "O" and "L" which my username has two of each. So I am stuck at my computer for the time being. How do you take attendance when everyone is present? The only thing I can think of is to mark someone absent, then change it back to present, then attendance is saved. I liked the old layout better with the tiles. We should be able to choose our layout preference, because I can see benefits to both. Absent students used to NOT SHOW, I liked that better. I need the ability to disable the SOUND in the app when marking a behavior, I used to be able to do that. How are the behaviors organized?! It seems they are in order of most used for each class. But that means each of my classes has behaviors in a different order! Please put it back to alphabetical so that all my classes list behaviors in the same order and I can easily find what I am looking for when marking a behavior. I liked the previous way of selecting multiple students when marking a behavior (it took fewer taps). I cannot believe how many issues there are with the update to this app, and I am disappointed in how long it has taken to fix or even address these issues. Seriously, test out your app before you push it out to the masses. And if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You took something that was easy to use and made it much more complicated. I would rate previous versions of this app 5 stars, but currently, 1 is all you get.
Nice and simple but too simple
Overall, I really appreciate this tool and feel that it can be further improved by adding a couple of features, which I think the info is already contained in the Dojo system but currently not available in this app.
I actually helped in the teacher's class when the Dojo points were assigned. So, first, Dojo actually captures the total cumulative points gained, which this app lack to show.
Knowing that my son gains a few points here or was deducted a few points there over this week and last week (I think the app only shows 3 weeks) is good but it would be even better to show a longer history or graph to get a sense that over time, whether the student is doing better or worse. Sometimes, I feel that my son has given up because he does not get a sense of progress.
In conclusion, I feel that this is a good tool to at least see the behavior or teacher's impression of his behavior at school but it seems that the design of the app has not taken full advantage to allow a more longer term understanding of how the student is doing - improving or getting worse ? - which I think should be easy for the dojo tool to capture.
So, I would like to propose including of 2 additional item in the report :
a) show total overall points gained
b) allow a plot of points gained over a period of time eg a week, a month, a quarter, or the semester year (this will give a sense of trend/progress).
Hope the above are constructive proposals that the app developer can consider.
As a parent
This app is perfect only for getting messages from teacher or sending them a message. Well providing you actually get the message in a timely manner. There’s been times I don’t get the message until an hour or two later, when the teacher has told me my kid’s sick, come get them. I do like the pictures, teachers can send.
The dojo.me from safari is horrid. I can’t get it to send videos to teacher, because it said I had to have the google chrome app. When I got that, it still wouldn’t work. When you go to take a picture using your iPad for homework, you have to practically stand on your head, and wait for a minute for the picture to snap. After about 10 minutes, you might get a picture worth sending. When you send an email to the company about a question, they say it takes at least 5-7 days, before they can answer your questions. I’m just hoping not to have nightmares after this school year is up, it’s so bad. It’s perfect, only if the teachers are not using it for a temporary homeschooling asset during Covid. I have no patience for this app. Please teachers use see saw or use something that is not an aggravation to parents. Dojo, you’ve got to reassess your product, and be more willing to help your customers. I know you are probably are very busy. I tell my children, do your best the first time, so you don’t have to keep redoing things. Don’t put a product out on the market until the kinks are worked out. You have some good things to this product, but you’ve got to make this more user friendly.
Poor marks from the school psychologist
First, I love the idea of this tool. The graphics are super and my 6 year old has fun changing his avitar. It is easy to check how my child is doing during the day.
As a school psychologist by profession, I take issue with some of the specifics of this tool. A cost-response system that subtracts points for undesirable behavior does not follow good behavioral practices~ or most school's Positive Behavioral Support programs. ( Search "PBIS" or PBS and nasp online.org.)
Behaviors rated by the teacher are not equivalent. For example, a child may earn a point for a "good report from specials" (say, a 45 minute block of time) but lose a point for "talking out of turn". So, essentially, one infraction completely negates positive behaviors displayed over a much longer period of time.
This tool is also clearly difficult for the teacher to keep up with. The number of "behaviors" rated vary from day to day and do not correspond with either subject blocks or hours in the school day. The resulting percentage has absolutely no real numerical value ( I will spare you the statistics tutorial).
Finally, This tool makes it too easy for those kids with challenging behavior (or even age typical off-task behavior) to get "nailed" for misbehavior and punished with big red marks.
So, if you are seeing lots of reds in your circle, it is time for a teacher conference to find-out what is really going on in the classroom and how you can work together to make school a positive and engaging place for your child.
Dojo...consider going back to the drawing board~ or black board.
Difficult to use
I think this is one of the worst apps I’ve used in terms of UX and while it’s trying to solve problems for teachers and parents, it creates a lot of other problems as a side effect. And what’s worse, it’s not my choice to use, it was my school’s.
First the account management is weird. It’s weird that I have to log in as my child. There should be one account, mine, which has my children’s info in it. I have had periods where I’ve been logged out of some of my kids and took me a while to figure out how to log back in, and other kids show up with duplicate accounts in the menu. If I go to certain student views, some of my other kids disappear from the menu. I’m not sure how it works.
The student login view is just a much more complicated way to just filter everything (feed, messages) by that student.
Why is there no todo list feature, instead of teachers sending us chat messages to do things and those getting buried in the noise of other messages and notifications from other apps like texts, emails, etc.
If one of the main purposes is the communicate events and deadlines, why is there no calendar or schedule feature? I have to manually add details from teachers messages into google calendar for things like fun runs, test dates, pajama days, form due dates, etc.
I think the app needs a total UX/ui overhaul with the parents and teachers goals in mind in order to be useful. My goal: not to miss important deadlines. I need tools to stay on top of those and reduce noise. I don’t need another app full of “interesting” content to waste time on. I just need to be a good parent.
1 parent can be informed not a family
We’ve used the app for a week and it’s very nice and a great way to communicate with the teacher. We have daily class reminders, pictures and comments from the teacher sent to the whole class as well as private messaging.
We would rate it higher if it wasn’t for our frustration to not be able to group message with our teacher.
In our household both parents are involved with teachers communication. Our daughter has two parents for a reason. And I recently asked our daughters teacher to place my husband and I in a group chat.
So if she has any comments, questions, feedback, or concerns with our daughter they are communicated to her parent unit streamlined. She told me that it wasn’t possible.
I couldn’t believe that a group couldn’t be made. It should be an essential feature. Teacher already has 19 students and now she needs to message twice as many parents privately.
Or we can just have one parent talk to the teacher and just pass down the information. But that sets up families for uneven participation in children school affairs. Either mom talks to the teacher or dad talks to the teacher and passes down the information.
It should be parents talk to the teacher. Every major communication text app has the ability for group messaging. If this is somehow possible please contact me. If it isn’t I hope to goodness someone on the team trieS and builds the feature and launch it ASAP.
Not having this feature is biased for only one parent to be involved. OR it creates a dynamic for more work on the teacher to talk to two parents separately about the same child.
The POC in our house hold is not just mom or not just Dad. The POCs are Mom and Dad.

Love it, but a few suggestions!
I love, love, LOVE class dojo as a teacher, but I have a few suggestions on how this app could be improved. I have been using class dojo for over a year now and my students and I both love the system! Here are some ways the app could be improved upon:
1. There should be some way to see if multiple teachers connected to your class have also received a message from a parent. I work in a collab classroom and if a parent messages both me and my coteacher, it would be nice to know if my coteacher received the message sent by a parent too. A set-up like a group message with multiple teachers and one parent could also answer this.
2. Students are DESPERATE to have the same communication ability their parents have and often make their own parent account (instead of a student one) or take their parents' phones to be able to message us outside of school. There should be a way to make student accounts able to communicate with teachers as well to discourage students from using the parent logins themselves. This would be nice to make optional, as not all teachers would be comfortable with students having this ability, but it would discourage students from using privileges that should only be reserved to parents/would keep students from seeing conversations with parents that should only be between parents and teachers.
3. The parent connection approval invites have been the BEST way to make sure that the people signing up for a child's class dojo are genuinely parents. I like these invites way more than the ones that give individual student codes and automatically connect whoever has the code. However, I've noticed these approvals aren't accessible from the mobile app, and the primary device I use class dojo on is my phone! It would be nice to be able to view and approve these connection requests from the mobile app.
Extremely wonderful class messaging app for free
For what this app can do, sometimes we forget that this app is free. I have been using this app for 4 years. I don’t use its videos for social emotional learning. Mostly I use this app for messaging with parents and giving motivational points for my students. I love its features such as imparting news by typing messages, uploading PDFs, photos, even Microsoft documents on class story for the entire class. I love the message feature where I can contact one or a group of parents about an issue. I can also schedule when I want the message to be sent. My students love getting points for all the positive things that they do; simultaneously they will also learn the consequences of negative behaviors as well. Parents get a weekly report about how they did. They can also choose to look at monthly, weekly or daily reports of their points and how they accrued or lost them. You can also take attendance with it, turn on music (slow or fast), use a timer, sort them into groups, choose students randomly and other features that I have not used. Students/Parents can set up student accounts so that work/photos can be submitted although I don’t use that feature.
These are issues I hope classdojo will work on:
-Negative points to be wiped off (currently you can only wipe off all points)
-Assigning the number of points for each attribute (currently you can only choose 1,2,3,4 or 5 points for each. I can’t assign 20 points for on attribute.
-Attaching PDFs and other documents can only be done on laptop not cell phones or tablets. You can only attach photos, take photos or attach emojis on the cell phone which is a pain when I am not at school or home.
-Strangely when I message one parent I can attach all these documents on laptop. I CANNOT do that when I select a group of parents to attach documents to. If I wanted to send a group of parents the same document I would have to message each parent one by one.
-please install a search feature so that I can find info that I sent to the parents without scrolling through months of messages...
-My parents have told me they can’t access messages that I sent more than a few weeks ago. Classdojo has said they can but that has not proven true.
For a free app with no ads, this is one of the best class messaging apps you can find. I just hope that classdojo will continue to improve the app. But the day they start charging for the app will be the saddest day of all.
Excellent Edicators
I would first like to say that I, as well as my daughter both know how very fortunate we both are to have the Best of the Best...in all of our Exceptional Educators; starting with our Superintendent, Principle, Asst. Principle, and with each & every teacher; whether it be Homeroom, Art, Music, PE, as well as RTI. Those that work in RTI are willing & have the ability to provide added focus & attention for those who are most in need of a little extra assistance in whatever areas they may be experiencing struggles. Each professional, whatever position they may hold show over & over again how very proud they are of each student. The realization came to me as I have witnessed this over the last 3 years. I've observed exactly how much effort, time & dedication put forth & provided to our children through the many programs offered here. Starting with fundraisers to assist organizations and/or others in need, performances, fun-filled field trips to increase their interest & knowledge base, as well as the well deserved recognition ceremonies.
In additional to all of the above each of the educators demonstrate an abundance amount of care for each individual, as to taking the time of expressing just how very proud they are of each & every student!
It is really quite obvious (to me that nothing makes our administration of educators happier) than to have that special opportunity to see to it that their true passion is making their mission a reality; I feel this would include seeing an outcome of true success in each and every child! I am so very blessed to have had my child be given this opportunity of the exposure to such awesome role models and the positive influence they have had on my daughter.
I love the class Dojo app..makes it easy reaching out to any teacher or being passed on updates for those sometimes forgetful ones that do not pass on upcoming information that should have been in their folder. I am so happy this is something made available to both teachers and parents alike. It's great! Great! Great! Just to add an apple on the pie navigation is very simple...just love the pics posted which would include any special moments or days of subjects being studied! Those are always so fun to view, and kind of the teacher to do it. That also makes there that moment in the evening where we are able to establish communication with our children. Dojo is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨✨✨
Excellence once again!
Respectfully,
Proud parent of Callisburg Elementary School Student
App useless, computer app ok
This last update rendered the use of my iPhone 5 useless with Dojo, which is how I used it almost exclusively until a few days ago. The entire program only works well on mobile and not tied to a desktop or even laptop to enter positive or negative awards.
1. The "Multiple" selection tool works to select all, but does not bring up the option to actually "Award" the students anything. The only way to award the entire class something is to select each one individually. Then, when you think you've done it, the awards did not actually make it to every student you choose anyway. You have to fix it on the computer and try to view reports on the computer to see who didn't receive the award. It is a disaster.
2. "Random" now is so random, apparently "true random," that when I use it for reading or trying to choose everyone in my class, it has brought up the same 4-6 kids multiple times. When I say multiple, I mean it brought them up at least 5 times in a row to the point of being useless as a tool to select students for anything. It wasn't random at all in many cases. I just cannot use it anymore.
3. The positive and negative behavior award tabs are ridiculous. It takes so many page swipes to get to my behaviors. If I could organize the behaviors on my own or alphabetically it might help, but to only have six per page makes it really hard.
4. I can no longer sort the students by their percentage. It was a critical aspect of me knowing who earned 87% positive for the week and who I will award with 30 minutes of free-time or not.
I've been using this system in my classroom for at least three years now. It has been the backbone of my discipline system and parents seem to appreciate it a great deal. The students really have a love/hate relationship with the system because if they do not attain 87% positive by Friday, they do not earn "free-time." The app has always worked fine up until this update. To be honest, I cannot believe all functionality was stripped for appearance sake. It is sad as I am not locked into using only the computer and as a "Class Dojo Mentor" I could no longer recommend using this system if it is not truly mobile.
The fix would be to scrap the entire new look and go back 4 days and reinstate the old version. This is all that it would take to make it a great app again. I'm sure there are even more bugs in the newest version, but I cannot use it anymore anyway, so they won't be found.
Sad, sad week for such a highly anticipated update and one where "Mentors" were supposed to keep hush-hush.
Not fair for special needs children!
I rated this one star only because I like that I can tell if my child is have a good or bad day. I like how it’s easy to message the teacher. I don’t like that when my child receives a red DOJO their is no explanation as to why. It should be set up that the teacher has to explain the red DOJO sometimes it’s self-explanatory then other times it is not! Also this app is not fair for children with special needs. For instance my child has ADHD. He constantly will lose a DOJO for being off task or not following directions. No surprise he’s off task or not following directions he has ADHD! Actually this app has managed to make my son who is in third grade think he is a “bad kid”! At my sons school they use this app to reward and double punish children! Their rule the first half of the school year is if you make a 80% positive behavior for the month, you then earn an extra 30 minutes of recess or something else if the weather does not permit outside play. However if you do not earn the 80% positive behavior, then you now have to go sit/talk with the counselor and the other children who didn’t earn it and fill out a reflection paper on why you didn’t earn it. If you fill out this paper fast enough you can earn some of the time but for my child to tell you why he didn’t earn it it’s hard since his ADHD is usually the reason why. That is one of the punishments for not earning the 80%. The other one is half way through the year around Christmas time if you didn’t earn the behavior rewards for each prior month now you lose the chance to watch the holiday movie. For every month you did earn you will get to watch 20 minutes of the movie. What child only wants to watch 20 minutes of a movie. I don’t know of any but my son only got watch 20 minutes of it. Now it gets better the second half of the school year they now have to earn 85% positive or the same thing monthly. Plus they have an end of the year reward too. For each month you earn you will earn more time to participate in this reward, if you do not earn it well then sorry about your luck! So far my child has earn one only one of the rewards for this entire school year! The reward he did earn was at the beginning of the school year so it doesn’t count for the end of the year reward. No wonder he thinks he is “bad kid”. This app has ripped his self esteem apart! As his parent it kills me to have to see the disappointment in his eyes every month when I have to tell him he didn’t make the 85%! If schools are going to use this app for things like this then it shouldn’t exist. I don’t understand rewarding a child for behavior they are already expected to have!
You love me too haha I love the kids and yes they have the

Hi
A very good app for kid

Read full review of ClassDojo and 1 commentIncredibly frustrated
As a parent I love the idea of this- and my teachers update regularly so that is awesome. I get notifications and emails letting me know. Only problem is, once I open the app, I can't see *any*thing. Just an error message that says "sorry, we couldn't load the student. Please try to refresh again!" I've tried to use the app for a few years with my kids and every time I get that error message. Refreshing doesn't solve the issue, killing the app doesn't solve the issue, uninstalling and reinstalling only makes it load the current "timeline" one time then never again. It is so incredibly frustrating.
I have figured out that if I open the email notification and follow the "do not open in app" prompts, I can see the story. But it is annoying.

Must be choice on notifications
Yes, I need and want notifications when a teacher sends me a message or if there is a new story posted, but, there has to be a change made on daily notifications over, “did your child earn a dojo point today?” EVERY SINGLE DAY! If this app refuses to note school is not in session every day of the year, especially every Saturday, Sunday and holiday it will keep a one star and not be recommended. These past two weeks we have been on break and have one more week of break till school starts up again for the new year and EVERY SINGLE DAY I get a notification banner and vibration plus a red number on my app to ask me if my child got a dojo point today. Ridiculous! There has to be an option for just important notifications vs all notifications or none at all.

Utter Crap of an App
This app is complete trash. While it may look like a nice and friendly app, it has loads of issues. First off, they promote the crap out of their subscription service which is very annoying. I don’t want it, so stop asking, and it’s also way too expensive to enroll in. We don’t see notes from our teacher all the time, they’ll show up and then disappear. The app has points system but it’s useless cause it’s only applicable for teachers really. The app doesn’t know how to link a child from transition from one school to another creating 2 accounts that you can’t remove. And finally it glitches all the time having me to force restart the app. The school clearly gets a kick back from partners paying for this service which is why schools are encouraged to use it, which in my opinion is unethical.

BEWARE! Scam!
So my son’s teacher send me this app so i can comunícate with him during class, at first I thought it was amazing idea. However, whenever I signed up it told me i was going to be charged $59 dollars for the whole year . I thought wow that is a little expensive for me if i have to pay it all at once but I thought, well i have to do it. So i paid, whenever i told my son’s teacher he didn’t know what i was talking about. He said this app was free and i shouldn’t have to pay for it. I was so mad! I wrote to the costumer service three times for a refund and haven’t had an response back. They only have an email if you want to contact them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS APP! If you need help there’s absolutely nobody to help you with anything. And you will never get your money back! This app deserves 0 stars!

Customer service is less than subpar at this point
So strange how almost done with my less than super review of customer service , and then poof. Gone. I digress.
In this day and age, having superb customer service is super important. this app lacks in that dept. in a big way.
Many emails gone unanswered. Many inquiries. Searches. Not okay.
I paid for a year of premium a few months ago, and to this day not one service agent has gotten back to me or resolved my issue but they sure do take your money with very little trial to enjoy. That is a red flag for me.
It’s been months since I paid nearly $60 for a year and I still can’t utilize the benefits. It still asks me to trial and subscribe instead of showing my kids memories being saved. I’ve sent many emails. Disregarded. Please fix or reimburse. 2 stars until customer service catches up.

Insane amount of personal data
Initially I got a bad feeling about this app because if I want the full thing I have to pay monthly. That is simply not an option for some families, like mine. But after logging in and being asked to sign off on the privacy stuff. No. Some how parents students and teachers have been able to work together for decades without this invasive, data mining, pocket picking social network. My children are too young to be chatting. My phone is an important tool of mine, not something Im going to hand them to play with. I may not always read through the privacy wording, but if it involves my children I sure will. You should too. This is all wrong, and the information this program accesses and shares and literally does what ever it wants to with, this is going to start the way our children are monopolized and manipulated.

Aggravating
The app is fine if all you need to do is view postings from your child’s teacher. Seems like everything should be easy enough, Stories here, Messages there. But as soon as I go beyond that the whole thing is aggravating. I can’t find anything easily, just a lot of tapping at things and hoping to stumble into what I’m looking for. For instance, creating a portfolio for distance learning is an abomination. I’ve clicked around this iPhone app for 10 minutes, my wife in her iPad for the same. She finally found it somewhere and got it working (supposedly, haven’t submitted work yet). When she looked on my phone to do it for our older child that still has an old account, she couldn’t find it at all after having just done it. None of the app makes any sense. It looks good and at first glance seems like it’ll be great, but doing anything is an exercise in frustration.

Hit or Miss
I have this app on my previous iPad and finally got logged in after entering our code. QR Reader wasn’t working. Kept having our camera reversing and flipping so the QR can never be aligned and read. Now that I have a new iPad and trying to log in again, the QR Reader is STILL not reading. I’m still having the same issue. Also, now the app won’t finish loading after we enter the code. I’ve tried closing the app and reopening it. I’ve tried deleting then redownloading the app. NOTHING WORKS! Now my child is unable to log onto Class Dojo for weeks! Thank goodness he is only using this app for discussion and not for majority of his works. Truthfully speaking, Seesaw is much better than this. It’s user friendly and I’ve never had this much anger using it as I am with Class Dojo. This app seriously need to update and improve itself if it wants to stay relevant for classrooms.

Waste of time and $59
I downloaded this app late in the school year. I figured it would still work with the old code my sons teacher had given us, but it didn’t. So I requested a new code SEVERAL times my sons teacher said she kept sending an invite and approving our request over and over but it never worked. We figured the weekend was coming and maybe we could look into it next week. It never worked. So I payed almost 60 dollars in an effort to see my sons school work for nothing because up until now my sons profile was never approved. Hopefully someone sees this review and think twice before paying soo much for an app that is literally useless and will just occupy space on your phone's memory. Class dojo workers need to fix all this issues so less parents loose on all that precious information regarding their kids.
$59 DOLLARS I could have used on groceries, electricity, or even expensive gas…

Try another app Teachers!
When my child kinder teacher asked the parents to download this app, I loved it! I started to use it for my classroom. It would give a good idea on how my child was doing throughout the day and what we might need to work on. Messages between the teachers/parents help build a great relationship. I was so happy when my child’s current teacher asked us to use it also but then I opened it. It is difficult and frustrating to use. The company is holding my child’s information hostage and making very hard to get updates. Every time I click something it is asking to upgrade with a small fee. So if I do not buy it will continue to be a useless app for my family. I have already started to suggest to my child’s teacher and all my teacher friends to stop using this app and use something like the Remind app, which is a great messaging app. I know that when I return to teaching I will not be using this app.

App is useless
My app stops working at least once a week. I can’t get important notifications or homework uploaded by the teachers or private messages. I know it quits becaise I’ll get emails from Dono telling me who uploaded what but then it’s not in my app. I have to delete the app and reinstall. Well, it quit working again (I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max so it’s not too old to run the app and I always have the most current app version) and I deleted it and when I added it back, lost my child. I have the student code and it keeps giving me the “Oops. Something went wrong. Try again.” I try to search for the school name and the search function doesn’t work. The teachers have disconnected me from my child and I have tried to reconnect to no avail. So now I can’t even use the app and I dint know how I’m going to know what my child has as far as events and homework. I’d give this app a zero star rating if I could.

TERRIBLE from what it used to be!
We just started using ClassDojo again for my second grader. We have not used it since my 11-year-old was in third grade (so 3 years ago or so), all three of our school-age kids have had teachers that have opted for other apps during that time, and I am so glad! it wasn’t bad at all at the time that our oldest was in a class that used it, but is far from that now.
After just re-downloading ClassDojo and exploring the app for a short time, I am seriously disappointed! You cannot even really do anything hardly at all without paying. You can message the teacher, but heaven for bid something is urgent and you need to get a message to them ASAP. You cannot even save your kids pictures that the teacher posts. I am really surprised that so many teachers use this app now, knowing that parents cannot utilize it very much without paying an additional cost.
I genuinely hope this will be the last year that I see a ClassDojo code printout come home.

Needs a Major Notification Option Update
My child is 5 & I love seeing what he is up to in class however, he dosent have major responsibilities that I track with ClassDojo points. We go to sleep fairly early and use my phone as an alarm, so I set my volume to loud every night and am frequently disturbed by ClassDojo asking me if he earned a point today. No where on the app is there a setting to only notify me when his teacher posts. In order to have notifications on, this comes with being notified EVERY NIGHT between 9:30-10pm to ask if he has earned a class dojo point. At the very least, the notification could go off in the morning to ask me about his previous day opposed to in the middle of the night. My spouse and I both have this app on our phone and we just wish that this was an optional feature. What could have been a potentially great app is now tainted by this experience and has me counting down to his last day of school this year so that I can feel the relief of deleting this app.

Fraudulent
I was SCAMMED OUT OF A 2 WEEK TRIAL and ARE TRYING TO CHARGE ME 35.99, WHEN I SAW THEY WERE TRYING TO CHARGE ME I TRIED TO CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION THEY STILL CONTINUE TO CHARGE ME THE 35.99.
I have been trying to get help into this subscription issue because I was offered a free 2 week subscription for this app to try out and was charged $35.99 the same day. I didn’t get ANY FREE TRIAL BASE FROM THIS APP they charged my card and when I seen that I tried to cancel it because I signed up for a 2 week free trial and didn’t get it! And now it continues to try and charge my card $35.99 weekly and It is horrible for a customer to be scammed because even after I DID cancel my subscription it still try’s to charge me, AND NO NOT ONE PERSON I HAVE CONTACTED HAS HELPED ME NOT EVEN APPLE.INC HAS HELPED ME, THEY SAY TO CONTACT APP SUPPORTER.
How DO I CONTACT THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS APP? I SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN CHARGES 35.99 BEFORE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AFTER 2 WEEK TRIAL!
HORRIBLE KIND OF SERVICE SOME KIND OF CREATOR OF THIS “APP” WOULD LET HAPPEN TO ANOTHER! !

Pros and cons
If you read a lot of these reviews a lot of people have the same concerns and the same issues they have also had Poor notifications on whether someone has messaged! It feels that class dojo developers aren’t really taken in consideration of the reviews as there’s no reply and yet no changes! ClassDojo is a great idea for communication for students parents and teachers however I do not like all the features that have a price to it especially for low income families and I disagree with allowing parents to see whether a message was read or not as it can cause controversy if the teacher is not able to reply back or is very busy forgets to reply back and it shows that it’s read isn’t appropriate for the setting of it being for teachers and parents as I feel as if it’s going to cause hard feelings in certain cases I don’t feel it’s appropriate feature for the app as well as it should allow cheaper features for low income families as well as having a feature to be able to add events to phone calendars rather than a feature telling if a messages read! Other than that it’s definitely moving in the right direction!

BEWARE: Double check membership length before purchasing!
Two of my children’s teachers are using this app in their classrooms this year, and I thought it might be worth trying at home as well for consistency. I INTENDED to purchase one month of the full service so that I could see firsthand what it included and how well integrating it into our family would work. Unfortunately,
Needless to say, after a month of trying the app, which we did not end up integrating into our home, I went online to cancel my subscription only to discover that 1) SOMEHOW (this still remains a mystery to me) I ended up being charged for an entire YEAR of membership, and 2) I consequently could not cancel this unneeded service as I intended. Rather, I get to “enjoy it” (not likely, as I still haven’t used it) for the remainder of the year.
In spite of contacting customer service at one month of use, explaining the mistake and requesting a refund, I have yet to receive reimbursement for this inadvertent purchase nor the courtesy of a response.
BUYERS BEWARE: Customer Service appears to be either unforgiving or unresponsive to unintended purchases of their app. Double-check AND document what you approve for payment to them.

Scam!
This is the absolute worst app! I downloaded this app as advised by the child’s school. I was expecting a free app but I was charged $59.99 plus tax. I didn’t have that amount of money on the card I have filed with Apple. I was told that I had to pay $63.45 for the app before I could even request a refund. I have never used the app and deleted it and unsubscribed to it immediately the second I found out it was $59.99. Not only did this happen to me but almost all parents at the school. I work at the school so there is no way I’m paying 59.99 to keep in touch with the teachers I see everyday. Parents are furious that we are automatically charged that amount of money. It’s absolutely nothing I can do but pay that $63.45 for something I have not used and will never use! I will make sure I scream to the mountain tops to never even get involved with Class Dojo! I hate it and come Monday morning I will be telling all parents to disconnect and find another app that will be more useful and less expensive if not for free! How dare you sign me up for something I have to pay for and demand I pay it . Class Dojo needs to fix the app that scamming people into buying . Glad I didn’t have my actual bank card on file I probably would have never known. Check your accounts if you have subscribed!

I am being charged $10.99 for app for my granddaughters camp. No one told me I had to pay for it and I only used it for 10 days. I refuse to pay for this. I dont want this app ever.
Hello,
I made a payment for ClassDojo yearly subscription based on the purported link I got from my daughter’s former school.
She is now in a new school and I want the payment reversed as it won’t be needed in the new school.
Below is the proof of payment made on the 6th November 2023.
