service call
I had no phone service for a full week (Feb 21-28, 2010). I called Cogeco for a service call. It was booked for Feb 26 between 8 AM and 12 NOON. I said I had to leave at noon so please make it as close to 8 as possible. I was told I would be called the day before and to mention that to the person who called. No one called the day before.
I called Cogeco at about 11:20 on the 26th as I was panicking about the lack of a call, and the fact that I had to leave at noon. The woman I spoke to said the repair person would call when he was on his way. I informed her I HAD TO LEAVE very soon to pick up my son by noon (he had to be picked up by noon from school). Finally, the repair guy showed up at 11:40 while I was on the phone with Cogeco yet again trying to find out where he was. He sat in his van chatting on his cell for 4 or 5 minutes. Not likely business related given his body language and facial expression during the call. I finally went out and knocked on his window to tell him I had to leave. He said "he'd be there in a few minutes." He made it inside at about 11:48. Said he couldn't fix the problem in 10 minutes and I had no choice but to rebook for Sunday Morning. Which I did. I called Cogeco back to say I needed it early again as I was just informed I had to go to work right after lunch, and I had already taken a half day off work for Cogeco once that week, and I couldn't do it again. On Sunday the same repair guy arrived at 11:59AM... could it have possibly been any later and still within the time frame... not too likely. He was aware I had to go, the booking people were aware then he pulls this stunt.
I was late for work as I needed to have my phone fixed. The boss was very unhappy and it cost me financially. I am switching back to Bell. They have quoted me a price considerably lower than what Cogeco has been charging me.
Also, their service guy tried to walk out the door with my hand held plug in phone (In his defense, it looked a lot like his - but I really had to convince him he had taken mine.) He also took my long black telephone cord I had been using for the modem. He left a much shorter one and I had to go and buy another one.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
rough business practice
I was away and missed paying some my bills at my vacation home for February, including my Cogeco cable bill. They made only one attempt to contact me by phone - when I was away. They then sent a "collector" who came at 8:30 pm and behaved rudely with my wife when I was at work, took away my modem and cable box, all this when I had already paid the overdue amount recently. All the other services I had "defaulted" in February merely called again to remind me (they did not need to, I paid all bills as soon as I was back). Compared to that, Cogeco has a pretty rough way of doing business which consumers should be aware of.

In late July or early August 2023
Cogeco installed a cable across my property without permission. They ran it across the lawn into the ditch,along the ditch and under my driveway through the culvert ..they then ran it along the top of my fence for about 60 feet to a neighbours house on another street.
Cogeco made my telephone number listed when it was supposed to be unlisted.
I called and complained. They admitted to the mistake. My ex got hold of the number and harassed me. I told Cogeco I will sue them for the cost for me to move and get security.
Then, Cogeco, tells me they are cutting me off.
They cannot do this. I need my service.
After spending a hour in phone talking to numerous people only to find out as a loyal customer i get 10 dollars off my bill per month a new customer pays 240 dollars less a year cant speak in person to a complaint department have ti gi on line that doesn't work either
Cogeco used to be a terrific company with excellent customer service. Now it's terrible!
I chose Cogeco because Bell was always a nightmare when it came to customer service, but Cogeco is now just as bad - if not worse. I am very disappointed and would not recommend this company.
Been with Cogeco 15 years and called to renew contract today after on hold for 30 minutes and they will jack the price up $25.00. Contract up August 15/18 and I will find another provider that will answer their phones in a timely fashion. So long to Cogeco.

I have been trying to contact you for over 10 days now. Wait times over 45 min etc. Its unaccepttable. Then to get through and be told that they can't help you because their system is slow or not working. Very poor customer service. Get it together cogeco
I lost my internet 9 days ago and have called several times each day and no answers and no service
No customer service at Cogeco. After they take your money BUYER BE WARE as you will have to wait hours and days to talk to someone and finally you will get a rep who doesn’t care, can’t help you and doesn’t have a clue why you have problems and will not even take a formal complaint. You will end up with that helpless frustrated angry feeling. Cogeco has real problems that have been going on for a long time and worst of all they don’t even care about customers. Stay away way far away from this company!
