Recieved a letter in the mail from a collection agency which is being run out of a house in Carson City NV. The letter states that I have charge that is in collections for somthing, someone called Pure Garcinia. I have attempted to call this shady operation but not to my surprise, there is no one who answers the phone. Would be curious to hear from others who may have recieved a similar letter as I will be pursuing legal action to it's fullest including making a trip to his little yellow house and dragging him out into the street bu his ears.
I contacted the Federal Trade Commission, Entertainment Weekly, as well as www.consumerfinance.gov. I received a bill for 266 dollars that I do not owe as well! I have never ordered, nor have I ever received Entertainment Weekly!
I received a notice from Collect Pros in today's mail. It says that it is an attempt to collect a debt. The notice states that I owe $274.05 for Entertainment Weekly Magazine. I DO NOT RECEIVE US WEEKLY MAGAZINE. I HAVE NEVER ORDERED US WEEKLY MAGAZINE. Please report this to the authorities.
Also got a letter wanting me to send money! Ok so now what are we to do?
I just received a letter saying i owe $365.75 for Entertainment Weekly Magazine and when i called it was also just voice prompt, noactual person. I am regretting sending an email to dispute it before i actually found this forum.. :-( im hoping i dont get identity theft... So how do we contact the news regarding this? This is so bad.
I also received a letter from Collect Pros stating that i owed $240.05 for an Entertainment Weekly Magazine. I never subscribed to it so I decided to investigate on my own instead of paying for it right away. I used customer service and they couldn't even find an account with my information. They told me Collect Pros is a fraud agency. I'm just going to ignore the fee i received.
I received a letter also stating i owe 365.75 for magazines which i didn't order, received or got a billing statement. I tried calling tje number listed on the letter but no one picks up when i suppose to have been transfer. I knew something was wrong. It's a shame what people do to steal money from others. Please DONOT SEND MONEY TO THIS COMPANY.
I got a letter yesterday in the mail from collect pros stating that I owe $332.50 for Entertainment Weekly. I have NEVER received this magazine in my life. I did call the 800 number provided and got a recording before I realized it was a scam. It stated to select "3" to speak to a rep but kept cycling back to the same message. I pressed "3" three times and then hung up and search on the net and found that this is a scam. I am going to try to contact Entertainment Weekly and the FBI. I am hoping that they will do something since these people are getting more brazen. Within a couple of months it seems they have gone from asking for $3X.XX to well over $3XX.XX almost $400. I have included a photo of the letter with my information whited out in Paint. I did not think about this until after I had tried calling [protected] but as good as the letter may appear at first glance, there are things that make this letter an obvious fake. Good Luck! Hopefully now that they have moved into larger amounts, the FBI will get these guys.
UPDATE!
MUST READ AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FOR THOSE WHO RECIEVED COLLECTION REQUEST FROM ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY - - - -
If you have not already contacted them, keep your letter and do so. Entertainment Weekly Customer Service Number: [protected].
They had me faxed a copy of the letter to them. I also faxed a copy of the IC3 report I filed.
I strongly urge, if your letter is for a long standing, well known magazine . . . CALL THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER! They will probably have you fax a copy of the letter as well.
If there are enough big companies going after these people . . . . . . . . . . .
Oh and my pic did not upload, not sure why.
One more thing, Sigh... I submitted a complaint with the US Postal Service for Mail Fraud and recommend each of you receiving these letters do the same. I supplied this website on both reports for additional victims. We may have been smart enough not to fall for this game but I am sure not all were so lucky and the more information we can supply to the US Postal Service and the FBI the better chance they have of catching these creeps.
Here are the websites I used:

I too have received this letter from collect pros, saying I owe 299.25 for entertainment weekly magazine which I have never ordered or received when I called them a lady who I could barely understand said I need to go to their website to dispute it then. I tried the website but there is no website. How can I get this off of my name/ I do not owe this money at all.
My full name and address has been used for a collection of $365.75 due to a so called order of USA WEEKLY MAGAZINES on June 2014. Which i never received in my current address.

i received from collect pros a collection notice stating the amount in collections is $365.75 for a subscription to Entertainment Weekly Magazine.. wtf pardon me, i in my right mind or not would never even consider ordering a subscription that costs $365.75. i also know there is nowhere that a subscription to any magazine costs that much not even 10yrs worth. so anyway i called the number heard an automated voice listened to it in its entirerty at the end it prompted me to press 3 to speak with a representative, she introduced herself and prompted me for the reference # the file came up on her computer as me and my address and she told me i had to go online to validate a dispute, so i did. this is what i received:...

On Wednesday, May 27, 2015, I received a pink collection letter from Collect Pros that on October 27, 2014, I ordered Entertainment Weekly Magazine and I now owe $332.50. I called the number on the letter immediately but it was an answering machine that had a recording that just kept looping back to the same message. I called today and actually talked to a female who could not speak much English. I told her I did not order any magazines. I stated that I demand proof that I ordered this magazine. When I mentioned my attorney, the female hung up on me. I called right back and I think it was the same female and she again hung up on me. It has to be a scam! I did not order the magazine and I do not order magazines because I do not have time to read them. I hope somebody stops these people soon.
My name is Anne Montissol
I recently received a notice from Collect Pros . They claimed that I owed $274.05 for a product named, Weekly Magazine. Truth to be told that scam is kind of stupid considering the fact that I have never even heard of that product, I called and waited to speak with the so call agent no one picked up, and when I researched collect pros data every website stated that it is nothing but a scam.
I hope no one falls for that trick.
Collect Pro out of Massachusetts sent me the pink form stating I owed Entertainment Weekly $332.50. A debt they are attempting to collect. I have NEVER ordered this magazine and will turn this over to my attorney. Reference #52142
Check your credit report! This is a scam.
Do not pay them !
They claim to have me in collections yet it is not on my credit report!
Scam scam scam!
My mother received a pink 'collection' letter from Collect Pros stating she owed them 87.95 for eye serum. She never ordered eye serum. We gave them a jingle and they advised us to pay $67 TODAY and the rest would be 'forgiven'. Threatened with legal action. Since I'm an informed consumer and a contributor to MYFICO...I gave them the 'heave ho' and really made them angry, lol! Do NOT pay this bill. I am going to file complaints with the proper organizations. What a bunch of ###s.
Received a similar letter for $332.50. I will be sending a legal answer, as well as sending a copy of my letter from Collect Pros, to US Weekly Magazine. From the responses they appear to have sent out these letters starting mid-May 2015.
I have a bil for 199.20 for Entertainment Weekly Magazine. Date of notice 05/18/2015, payment due in 30 days. I never ordered these magazines. This COLLECT PROS payments made easy is a SCAM...repeat SCAM...
Just like the other people. I have received a pink letter stating that I owe money 332.50 for us weekly magazine. Never have I received or ordered.
Two reviews within minutes of each other owing the same amount, I call BS, and believe this is the same person that wrote the first review.
I received the same pink letter today with the exact same amount. It is for US Weekly Magazine. The collect pros said that I should pay immediately otherwise it would affect my credit score. When I called they suggest me to dispute it from www.collectpros.com/dispute. When I did that it showed that the debit is very valid and they have the phone conversation audio to prove it. I called US Weekly magazine but they said that I have no account there. Is this really a scam? Will it affect my credit?
Please suggest !
Received one too for Entertainment Weekly Magazine in the amount of $365.75. Did not order or ever even receive. Plus, what magazine subscription costs almost $400?! I called [protected]. Got through the automated system to finally talk to a real person. Indian accented. He kept trying to make me believe I owed this, but I remained adamant that I did not. So he referred me to www.collectpros.com/dispute. Their "dispute" system also attempted to get me to believe that this debt was valid, even stating that they have me on audio recording agreeing to the debt. When I clicked on the very tiny report fraud button at the bottom & wrote a statement refusing the validity of this debt, & also asking for a copy of the supposed audio recording, I then get a notification window stating that all collection attempts from them will be terminated. Scam!
this is the same bill i got $365.75 for a magazine. not paying it, never had any mags.
Does anyone know if this scam really goes on your credit report? I, also, received a letter stating that I owe $365.75 for US WEEKLY MAGAZINE, which I have never ordered, nor received.
I received a letter to about this company demanding me to pay $365.75 for US Weekly Magazine..What should we do about them?
I am glad I came across this site. I received a collection letter from "Collect Pros" for "Bella Labs" in the amount of $87.63. I initially thought this was for a medical service, but I had not had any "lab work" for over a year and there were no outstanding bills--they had been paid in full. When I researched Bella Labs online, I discovered they sell beauty products. I remembered that I had ordered a "30-free trial sample", but paid for shipping. I cancelled the order the following day, I kept a "screenshot copy" of my cancellation letter.
What I discovered about this company is after 10 days this company charges the credit card used for "shipping costs" and then ships (sometimes) a "full size" product, then charges the customer $87.63. Fortunately for me, I used a Visa gift card for the shipping charges and when Bella Labs tried to charge the card it was declined. So, apparently they decided to try to collect with a collection agency for a product I did not order and charges I did not authorize. I never received the original product--which I had forgotten about--until today that I had ordered, and I did not receive the "full size product".
Bella Labs and Collection Pros and rip-off scam artists. Keep submitting complaints to the BBB and any/all consumer agencies about these companies to stop these companies' fraudulent practices!
Today I received bill from Collect Pros for $175.26 purportedly for two sample products I'd received from La Crema Skin Care and BellaLabs. These were advertised as free samples on the internet but when I received them I discovered that unless I returned the samples within l4 days I would receive the products monthly at considerable cost. I called the company and confirmed I would return the products and did send them back immediately. Now months later I receive this collection notice from Collect Pros. I don't know where to take my complaint. All I can do is advise anyone who sees an ad for a free trial offer, not to respond - because nothing is free. You give them your credit card number for shipping the free samples and, chances are, even if you try to return the product samples, you will be billed for products you don't receive.
A couple of years ago, I responded to an internet ad for a free tooth whitening sample. Although I called to cancel the trial within the l4 days limit, I received three or four different charges to my credit card in one month, each from a different tooth whitening company totalling over $800, American Express credited my account, but I believe they lost the $800.
Beware the internet. If an offer looks too good to be true, it probably is.
I received one in the mail yesterday. From a company that I requested a sample. Then after reading the reviews I cancel led immediately. I have a 850 fico score. If this effects that I will be extremely aggravated. I also tried to call, without being able to talk to a human. I wrote a dispute letter, and am sending it return receipt requested, just in case they say they they did not receive the letter. I am so angry at this scam. Amazing how many of us have received them. I am in high hopes that this is a scam!
Received a pink letter from Collect Pros with a demand for payment in 30 days for a remaining balance from an online subscription for "MyHealthyFitnessPlan Monthly" which I had called to cancel YEARS AGO. All fees have been paid through my credit card through date of termination of the contract. Now I'm receiving a demand for payment. On a program that was never used and had already been cancelled long ago! Weird! Payments are to be sent to Woburn. MA but they are operating out of Pacoima, CA from an LLC.
Just received my Collect Pros letter, mine is similar to Magazines, mine has to do with an order of Elite Test 360 / Rippled Muscle X. Well here is the funny part. I did order the product, and canceled within the 30 days. They sent me the conformation in February of my cancellation.
Collect Pros dates my bill for October. So they are getting tricky, how they knew I even bought the product is suspicious as is?
