I was looking around for a MacBook Pro and saw a discounted price on Courts online store: https://www.courts.com.sg/apple-mcx04zp-a-14-inch-macbook-pro-apple-m4-chip-with-10-core-cpu-and-10-core-gpu-24gb-1tb-ssd-space-black-ip201919
I needed it for work purposes urgently, and saw that there was “economy delivery” and that I can “receive within 5 working days”. This information is reiterated when I cart out the item.
For this $2,638 item, my parents decided to buy $2,500 worth of Courts e-gift cards as a present for me, to sponsor for the item. Note that the e-gift cards were only purchased because we thought we could get the MacBook in 5 working days upon ordering.
On 4 Feb, I proceeded to make the purchase and got an order acknowledgement.
Later that day, I received an email that there might be some delays as Courts was waiting for arrival of the item in the warehouse. I thought it should be fine – if Courts could list this as available with economy delivery on their website, it should be fine right? Nonetheless, I emailed to ask for estimated arrival date as I needed the MacBook urgently.
After constant email chasers, I finally got a reply on 8 Feb… that the ETA of the item is 4-6 weeks.
Naturally, I am frustrated as I needed the MacBook for work and the delay affects my earnings…
The online team asked if I wanted a refund. However, they mentioned that my e-gift cards cannot be refunded as cash. This made me even more furious. My parents only bought the e-gift cards as everyone thought that the item would come within 5 working days as indicated on the website, NOT 4-6 weeks. Despite explaining that this is all Courts’ fault in terms of misinformation provided by the website, Courts is adamant that I can’t get back the e-gift cards as cash, and that it has to be refunded back as e-gift cards. What use would I have for $2,500 worth of e-gift cards if I can’t buy the product I want?
Since then, I have been chasing for updates from Courts, as they said they are pending updates from their suppliers. In the meantime, I have also gave an alternative solution of purchasing a higher spec MacBook at a discounted price, which I’ve confirmed with their live chat team on 12 Feb that there was still stock available.
It is now 14 Feb, 10 days after I made the order. So many email chasers have been sent, and I’m not getting the response I need. This is affecting my work and income, and I am so frustrated that the Courts team isn’t trying to solve the issue.
Note that as of now, the product is still listed on the website as available with economy delivery. This is severe misinformation.
@Courts team if you see this, please please update me asap. This is for order [protected]. I need this resolved with a MacBook in my hands within the next few days.
Just to clarify for everyone’s context. Yes, the order was received today but it’s based on the alternative solution that I had to provide.
Also, as of now, the original product is somehow still listed with economy delivery (receive within 5 working days) even on the checkout page, which is still misinformation.
