Dayton Daily News Falsely advertised a coupon book and signed us up for a paper subscription with a monthly charge

The DDN has no customer service! They were a "Great Newspaper", now not so much. I signed up for a subscription (automatic withdrawal) at a food truck event in Miami County. Delivery was spotty and then it just disappeared. I continue to receive a bill for a time period when they failed to deliver the paper. Repeated calls to their distribution folks went unanswered. I have received calls from them - both soliciting me for service/renewal and collections for the money they say I owe for the papers I never received. Currently have a bill in front of me dated 5/5 for $28.25 that Pays: 03/12 - 05/03 "Due: Upon Receipt". we have not received a paper here in many months and I AM NOT Paying them.

Delivery has all but stopped, and all I get is the same nonsense that they will send a replacement paper. They never do. The portal to report the paper doesn't work if you click through your account, which I assume they must know. The response you finally get is some clearing house. They do NOT deserve to be accredited as clearly they are cheating their subscribers on a daily basis. I'm done.

First off I find it very odd and confusing that the Complaintsboard.com has graciously given Cox Media Group an A- rating yet 286 complaints have been filed against them and all 8 of the reviews on this site are ONE out FIVE stars. Good 'Ol Boy Network perhaps? My complaint is not about delivery, it is something much more shady and perhaps criminal. I just happened to see some charges coming out of my checking account in the amount of $9.99 per month. It was deceptively listed as "OHIO NEWSPAPERS ACHPAYMENT" (Not Dayton Daily News or Cox Media Group). The phone number that was given to my bank was an 8XX number that connected me to an IT department in Colorado! They said they handle newspapers all over the country and to try to contact my local paper. When I called Dayton Daily News the customer service rep informed me that I had signed up for the newspaper service back in October. This is utterly impossible. The last time I subscribed to DDN was back in 2014. I would not sign up for a newspaper service in a store like was suggested. When I pressed he told me it could have been a kid selling coupon books door to door for a fundraiser. That is where my hair started to stand up on end. I do occasionally help out KIDS who are doing fundraisers. BUT I would never agree to a monthly payment of $9.99! I smell a scam here and I ask you all to be careful about giving checks to "fundraisers." Use cash if you can and make sure there is no commitment beyond the one-time donation to help a kid out. I was promised a full refund from the customer service rep, we will see if that actually happens.

We've always liked the product, but the delivery end of the business is nothing short of atrocious. We've actually subscribed and cancelled several times over the past 15 years, always cancelling because of delivery problems. These are not minor problems, like missing a paper here and there, or being later than usual some days. In the most recent case (we are cancelling again today), FIVE Sunday papers in a row ended up in a small water filled hole next to the driveway. Note that there are literally several THOUSAND square feet of acceptable space to throw the paper, but somehow 5 weeks in a row it has found that one small spot and proceeded to go to the bottom, waterlogged. Calls to customer service received the "we'll pass along your concerns to the carrier." Apparently someone is not doing that, or listening, or caring. So we are out.

Dayton Daily News I bought a coupon book and now I get money stolen from my account with nothing to show for it

I bought a coupon book and now I get money stolen from my account with nothing to show for it. I bought a coupon book back in April from some high school student and just like everyone else here wasn't told about a subscription which would have been fine I wouldn't have minded getting a paper but I was given no information. A little while later on April 24,2020 I was charged 9.99 which I ignored since I thought I bought something totaling that amount. A month later on May 26,2020 I got another bill for 9.99 ok it was time to take care of this, I called the customer support line associated with this scam and talked to 3 people on 3 different days all told me they had no information of me at all and the paper that was being paid for is being sent to some random address I asked these 3 people to make sure I am removed and not charged again and made sure to say keep the money you stole. Now here I am June 24,2020 getting charged again all the people complaining here seem to be getting restitution so here I am I want all my money back totaling 29.97 and I won't ever buy a coupon book with a check again. It's sad cause this could have been a totally different type of review had this paper actually been sent to my house instead of me paying for actually nothing.

I am having the newspaper delivered to my home and the person doesn't even reside there or is the homeowner. I have called 2 times, also PM through FB, also left a FB post. This has been going on for about 2 months. They can keep charging the person just stop delivery to my house is all I want. I can't even get customer service to respond on FB messenger. I was told that getting it stopped wouldn't be a problem. I want them to just stop delivering to my residence. Dayton Daily keep the money or continue to charge the person I just want the delivery to stop.

I have not received a newspaper since last Friday & each time I call them I am told a different issue is going on which is not true as I have multiple friends in *** who take the paper & they are receiving the paper daily. I would like to have this resolved either by starting to receive the daily paper again or refund my monthly money. They put the monthly bill on my credit card. I certainly don't like being lied to about why I am not receiving the paper. I have not had any issues with delivery service until now. I tried calling them again this morning & you can't get through to customer service.

I was approached about making a "one time donation" of $10 in January 2022 for which I tried to pay in cash. He said he could not take cash and gave him my debit card. I have been charged $9.99 each month (Jan, March, Apr, May, June, July). I DID NOT sign up for any type of subscription and have received nothing for this fee (I live in Maineville and would not be interested in the Dayton Daily News). I would like the monthly $9.99 charge to be discontinued immediately. I would also like a refund of $49.99 for every month charged after January.

Dayton Daily News For over 10 years now I have tried to stop receiving the stupid Sunday Values through the Dayton Daily News

For over 10 years now I have tried to stop receiving the stupid Sunday Values through the Dayton Daily News. For over 10 years I have called, written, emailed, etc. the Dayton Daily News trying to get them to stop littering my driveway and yard with their stupid Sunday Values but to no avail. I do not subscribe to the Dayton Daily News nor would I ever want to especially knowing how inept they are at even getting something like the Sunday Values stopped! I have even written a letter to *** emailed *** and *** and I have called customer service numerous times, but they still keep coming. To me it is littering and I thought littering was against the law! How do they get away with littering?! There have been a few times I have not received the trash, but those have been few and far between. I've just kind of been living with it for the last 2 years since I emailed people I thought could get this to stop and they didn't because I didn't know what other options I had. I've considered getting the law or township involved since I consider it littering, but I haven't done that yet. I just want this trash to stop and since I've tried everything else I thought I'd try through a complaint to the Complaintsboard.com.

I ordered 10 weeks of the Sunday paper (I was approached at Meijers while I was shopping). The first week I received a paper, the next two weeks I did not receive a paper. I could not call them on Sunday to get a repalcement paper due to not being home at the time they are in the office. I reported boht of these missing papers on Monday. Fourth, fifth and sixth weeks I received a paper. Seventh and 8th weeks no paper, called again on Monday. After the 8th week I called, because I did not want to be charged for another 10 weeks.I was told that they had turned off the "auto" payment and that I would four additional weeks free for the missed paper. The ninth week I received a paper. They then charged my card an additional $14.99 for more weeks. I called again and was told that there was no record of me ever calling and that they could not refund the monies, but they would escalate it up the line. I received a refund of $3.69. So I paid $29.98 and got 5 papers, they said that there is nothing else that they can do. Oh and by the way I did not get the paper on the tenth week. The fact that company can run a business in this manner is completely appaling. I want at the very least the 2nd $14.99 refunded.

I called Customer Service, Dayton Daily News, and requested a subscription to the Sunday Values, which is Sunday Values delivers valuable coupons, ads and inserts to your home each weeks, free of charge! The customer service person had no idea of this subject, and tried to obtain a $600.00 subscription from me instead! I told him that I was quoting from the cover page of these weekly inserts, coupons, and Ads, and that they are free of charge! He went to get a supervisor, came back with a response that this subject was unknown and could not forward my call to that department! I have tried before with a paid Sunday subscription, just to get what they offer for free! And eventually cancelled that particular subscription. I have tried numerous times to contact the department that is responsible for signing up homeowners interested in this Subject, and get no help at all. This has been going on now for over six (6) years, and I have worn out my patience! Please help me with getting someone from Dayton Daily News that can effectively take my request. Thank you.

Dayton Daily News Every year after the Christmas holidays it seems that I get a new or a substitute newspaper delivery person

Every year after the Christmas holidays it seems that I get a new or a substitute newspaper delivery person. Since December 28 there have been several delivery issues with a new delivery person which have been reported daily and are not getting resolved. Daily the newspaper is not being delivered to the specific location which has been specified on my account for years as to where the paper is to be delivered. The newspaper is to be thrown on the porch daily and when talking to the representative on two occasions it is on my record as to where the paper is to be delivered and not just thrown randomly on the driveway. This was reported as an issue 10 times, 8 times on the automated system with the resolution of a subscription extension. 2 times to a live representative who promises to send this to the district delivery manager for resolution. On two occasions the newspaper was not delivered within the reported delivery window specified by the newspaper and was reported as being missed with an eventual delivery, however, again not to the specified delivery location. I have been a continuous customer of this company for 51 years and even worked as a carrier for them in my youth. I have never seen such poor service or attention to my issues. I pay $58 monthly on automatic checking account deduction.

I started my Sunday subscription in early December. It is now 1-22-22. Since I started my subscription I have not had a Sunday in which it was delivered. I received 1 paper and that has been it. I was told by several managers it would be taken care of. To-date still no delivery. When I called to speak to management I was hung upon twice. I would love a call back from a manager who can explain why?

In September we called and canceled our newspaper subscription with Dayton Daily News. Since then, Dayton Daily News has refused to cancel the paper. We keep getting the paper very Thurs thru Sunday. My husband and I have called and spoken with Dayton Daily news representatives on the phone at least 14 times since Sept 2021. Each time the representative tells us they will contact the carrier and let them know to stop delivery, but the paper keeps getting delivered. Last week my husband called again, and was told the record shows a failed delivery stop on 15 Oct 21, meaning even though we canceled the paper in Sept 2021, the delivery continued. We are moving soon and having the papers stacked up in our driveway is a security risk as people will know the house is vacant. We are at a loss on how to get them to stop delivering the paper.

In April I was automatically charged $239.88 against my credit card for a full year of the Dayton Daily News without authorization. I immediately called to complain and to get a full refund. After further discussion I agreed to a full year at the rate of $203.11 and a credit of $36.77 was issued in April for the difference. The last time we received a newspaper was December17, 2021. We have called several times, was first told there wasn't anyone to deliver but they would get the paper delivered which did not happen. After several more calls we requested that the balance of the subscription be cancelled and that we are issued a balance from December 17th. After waiting at least 30 days for the refund it has not been received. When we call to check we are told that a check was issued but there is no way to follow or trace the check. Additionally, we get multiple calls a week from the subscription department asking why we cancelled and trying to give us new offers to take the paper. We reference the previous problems and also continue to ask about the refund with no resolution.

In August , I realized I accidentally overpaid my newspaper subscription to the Dayton Daily News and requested a refund of $478.34. On September 10, the refund check was sent to an incorrect address, but I didn't know that at the time. I reside in Kettering, OH, where my newspaper was consistently delivered. I have never lived in Tipp City nor had a newspaper delivered there. The reason for the check being sent to that location remains a mystery to me.

On September 27, since the refund check had not arrived, I decided to cancel my subscription and requested a refund for the remaining amount of $288.88. On October 15, a refund check for $288.88 was, once again, dispatched to an incorrect address. It was not until November 6, during a conversation with a customer service representative, that the error of sending my refund checks to the wrong address was uncovered. I was assured that a new check would be sent out by November 12.

Despite having called eight times since that promise, and having spoken to various managers on multiple occasions, I am yet to receive my refund. Each time, I am told that someone from the accounting department will return my call, but I never receive such a call. Customer service representatives also claim they will request the accounting department to reissue the refund check. Six months have passed, and I am still waiting for my refund.

Dayton Daily News Continuing to be charged for a service I was told was a ONCE TIME CHARGE

Continuing to be charged for a service I was told was a ONCE TIME CHARGE...looks as though I am not alone in this. In June I was approached by a man representing the Dayton Daily News/Cox Media in Meijer. I was told that I could purchase a coupon book for $19.99 and receive a free Meijer gift card for $19.99. So, you're selling me free coupon book? No extra fees or service charges? This is a one time purchase? Really? What was the catch? He had all the right answers. I asked SPECIFICALLY, "Is this going to subscribe me to anything?" The man responded with, "No, no, no. If you wanted to subscribe you could! But you would have to create an account, log in and set it up to subscribe." COMPLETE LIES! But he sold me on it, as I confirmed this was a one time charge to support the Dayton area and I would immediately get my money back with a Meijer gift card. Cool!...NOT! I have continued to get charged EVEN THOUGH the very day that I purchased this coupon book I went home and created an account so I could log in and CONFIRM that I wasn't set up to subscribe to anything. Now when I log in it says "subscription information unavailable"... yet I have continued to be charged monthly. I don't know what else to do. This operation is completely lacking in integrity and I am disgusted that a business would operate in this way.

I paid Dayton Daily News for 6 months of delivery of the newspaper Thursday thru Sunday to begin in December . As to date [protected] I received only 1 paper on December 12. I have repeatedly called and reported the issue and have been reassured the problem will be resolved. I have asked to speak with a supervisor but not permitted to. My complaints are going no further in resolving my issue.

We had a subscription for Sunday only paper to be delivered two us. Since Dec 6th we have had only one paper and it was tossed at the end of the driveway. We called the customer service person informed us that it was here that told them contractors to put it it the end of the driveway instead at your door. She was supposed to changed that. Will today is Jan 9th and we didn't get a Sundays paper and called and we told it is up to them contractors to bring another paper out since we didn't get one last week as promised. We canceled our subscription and asked for a complete refund. We were told we might only be given back what is left on the subscription. How is it that we have been charged for service that was not fulfilled? We want a complete refund.

Dayton Daily News No paper has been delivered since December 31

No paper has been delivered since December 31. Delivery has been sporadic for the entire year and I continue to be billed for the newspaper. For the past year, the delivery of the newspaper has been sporadic. Some weeks, only one paper was not delivered, one week six papers were not delivered. I have complained on-line regularly, have spoken to service representatives as well as to the carrier herself. No paper has been delivered since December 31. I have been sent bills for the newspaper, which I find insulting, given the lack of delivery and lack of response to my complaints. In addition, my grandson came home one morning and the carrier was parked in my driveway. When he asked why she was there, she told him to move her car or she would blow his head off. He finally called the police. When I reported this incident, both on-line and by phone, nothing has been done. Today when I tried to call again, my call kept getting rerouted and I was not able to speak to a service representative. I'm not sure how to get service or if I should just give up trying to get the paper delivered. If no delivery can be made, then I ought to get a refund for the time I have been charged when no paper has been delivered--and that would be approximately once a week for 2020 and all of 2021. Thank you for your help in trying to resolve this matter.

Dayton Daily News Never had a Sunday paper delivery

Never had a Sunday paper delivery. Multiple complaints. Multiple credits- but never a paper on Sund. Asked for refund- ignored. I purchased 26 weeks of Sunday only papers. I received an email late Nov to start the e-paper. I received a card from the Mon-Fri delivery person- but I contacted him to let him know I am Sunday only. He could not help as he doesnt deliver the weekend paper. I have never received a paper on Sunday. I have made multiple complaints and have received e mails I can have access to the e paper. I have been told they would contact the delivery person. Still- no paper. I have responded many times that I am only interested in the coupons so I only want the paper. Supposedly I have received "credit"- but never a paper. I have asked for a refund- but this is the only time that I am no longer receiving a response. Now I am being ignored. My check was cashed in late Dec. Despite never receiving a paper, by account now shows a bill for $4 ish (I forget the exact amount) Since I have not received s paper, I should have 26 weeks of paper paid for- and no money owed. And I have weeks of "you will receive a credit" but there are no credits on my account. (Not even for the money I paid) I am asking for a full refund of the $26. There is no person there thst is accountable or responsible for the product they sell. I can submit documentation if needed.

Dayton Daily News Fraudulent sales person interaction leads to unauthorized recurring monthly charges from Cox Media Group

Fraudulent sales person interaction leads to unauthorized recurring monthly charges from Cox Media Group. Seeking refund and resolution. Misleading coupon gift sale has led to the headache and stress of regular, monthly, unauthorized ACH payments to Cox Media Group from my bank account. In late February/early Mach 2020 - Salesperson was selling coupon gifts inside of the West Chester, Ohio Krogers on Cox Road, claiming the proceeds were going to charity (Children's Miracle Network I believe), and could not take cash, card only. Thinking it was just a one time donation to charity, I "bought" the coupon gift with my debit card. On March 24 the 1st unauthorized ACH payment to Cox Media Group for $17.29. April 24 - 2nd ACH payment to Cox Media Group for $17.29. May 24 - 3rd ACH payment to Cox Media Group for $17.29. June 24 - 4th ACH payment to Cox Media Group. July 24 - 5th payment pending to Cox Media Group. I have never received any newspapers or product from the company as a result of these fraudulent charges. I have called my bank but they said the only way to make the recurring charges stop is to contact Cox Media directly. I have been unable to find a way to contact them as the number I found was not in service. I have decided to use the Complaintsboard.com complaint route before resorting to more extreme measures like the Ohio Attorney General or the Federal Trade Commission.

Dayton Daily News I was mislead regarding a subscription and continued to be charged for 6 mos for a paper that I was not receiving

I was mislead regarding a subscription and continued to be charged for 6 mos for a paper that I was not receiving. I was approached at home by someone that was doing a promotional sale for the Dayton Daily News. I signed up to receive the paper for 2 mos, of which time I did receive the paper. I wrote a check that day for the requested amount. The Dayton Daily News continued to take money out of my bank account, for an additional 6 mos after this time, of which I did not receive the paper. I was never told that the subscription was a continuous subscription, from the gentleman selling the paper. The fact that they continued to take money out of my bank account without my consent and did not deliver the paper after that period of time is why I am filing a complaint. I did speak to *** on 2/28 and explained the above scenario at which time should told me that i should have only received the paper for 2 mos and they continued to charge my account because my account information remained in their system. She did explain that she would have to escalate it to a manager and that I should be hearing back in 72 hours. I did receive a refund for 2 mos ($29.98) yesterday to my account. I called again today 3/10 and spoke to *** regarding the above. I explained to her what I was told my *** when I spoke to her. I requested a refund for the 6 mos that I did not receive the paper and was told they would only be able to refund the last 2 mos. I would like to receive a refund for the total number of months that I did not receive the paper.

Dayton Daily News I was a subscriber of the Dayton Daily News, I contacted them to cancel, they acknowledged receipt of my request, and they wouldn't cancel

I was a subscriber of the Dayton Daily News, I contacted them to cancel, they acknowledged receipt of my request, and they wouldn't cancel. As a subscriber of the Dayton Daily News, I decided to cancel service on October 30. I notified them via email of my desire to cancel. When you sign up, it says they will automatically charge your credit card until they are notified to cancel service. There is nothing that stipulates the cancellation needs to happen via any specific channel. Furthermore, it would seem to me that a request in writing would be more than sufficient to cancel service. They responded to my request saying that I would have to call in to them to process the cancellation. I responded and I notified them that they were no longer authorized to charge my card, and they charged me again anyway. I contacted my credit card issuer, put the charge in dispute, and it was validated and refunded. I then put a block on my credit card to prevent Cox Media from charging the card again. They did attempt to charge my card again, which was again not authorized. They have continued to send me bills for service. They have called me, and I have told them that I had canceled service. On that phone call, they have acknowledged receipt of my request to cancel service, the note is on my account in their CRM system. I contacted them to have them stop billing me, and their response was vague in their intent. But it insinuates that I still owe then for service that I rightfully canceled. I fear their next move may be to turn it over to a collection agency. If they do that, I intend to seek legal advice to protect my rights and consumer standing.

Dayton Daily News I bought 2 copies of the DDN that were suppose to have a UD poster inside

I bought 2 copies of the DDN that were suppose to have a UD poster inside. My copy contained the incorrect poster. DDN has not responded to my calls. I was out of town the weekend of 3/14/3. I had my mother buy two copies of the 3/15 edition of the Dayton Daily News because that issue was supposed to have an Ibi Watson poster inside. She purchased the papers from the Marathon Gas Station in Versailles Ohio. I had purchased two copies of the Sunday paper for the past 5 weeks because I was collecting each of the UD Men's basketball team posters that were being published. Upon returning home, she opened the papers and discovered that the papers contained the wrong posters, despite the front page of the paper stating that the Ibi Watson poster was inside. The poster in the papers we purchased were of the WSU coach. She called the Dayton Daily News via phone on Monday 3/16 and spoke to *** about the issue. *** took our information as well as the store's information and promised to resolve the issue. She told my mother that the Dayton Daily News would contact us within 1-2 days. We have yet to receive a call back (6 days later). I have contacted the paper via email on multiple occasions as well as filled out the forms on their websites. None of these attempts have resulted in anything. I would like to have two copies of the Ibi Watson poster sent to me since I have two copies of all the other posters *** and *** I do not want a refund, I simply want the posters that were promised and advertised to be in the paper. I have attached a picture which includes the poster I received and the front of the paper which shows where the Ibi Watson poster was promoted.

Dayton Daily News (1) 12/23 - I subscribed to Journal News (Sunday Print / Daily ENews) at $1.00/week, payable at $13/Quarter, renewable quarterly at that

(1) 12/23 - I subscribed to Journal News (Sunday Print / Daily ENews) at $1.00/week, payable at $13/Quarter, renewable quarterly at that rate for ONE YEAR. (2) It auto renewed correctly for quarter 2 on 3/23, and for quarter 3 on 6/22. (3) Though an 8/12 notice emailed to me on 8/30 notified me of a quarterly increase to $23.61, to be effective 9/21 for the fourth quarter , contrary to the PRINTED PROMISE of 1 year at $13.00/Quarter or $1.00/week, the ORIGINAL TERMS on 12/23, wchich DID NOT MENTION ANY RIGHT TO REVISE RATES MIDYEAR. (4) On 9/23, it was again auto renewed at $23.61 with an overcharge of $ 10.61. (5) on August 29, I posted an online protest at the Customer Service site. (6) On Monday, August 30 at 11:04 PM, I sent an email from my alternative email address to customer care protesting this change that felt to me like a "bait & switch" practice. NO RESPONSE EVER CAME. (7) i called Customer Service 2X at [protected], once on 9/30, escalating my claim to a superviser 1 level up, and was promised the $ 10.61 refund I sought within 7-10 days, as I strongly insisted they honor the original terms for 12 months & I asked for cancellation, and refund of unused remaining subscription if they wouldn't honor the $10.61 refund request. THE PROMISED $ 10.61 refund did NEVER got credited to my credit card. (6) 12/16, I again called Customer Service insisting on the refund, and was promised that refund within 10 days. AGAIN, THE PROMISED REFUND NEVER ARRIVED. In that same phone call I successfuly terminated my 1 year subscription at the conclusion of the one year subscription. I love the Journal News, but ask a PROMPT REFUND OF $10.61 in honor of the original terms I signed up for. JOURNAL NEWS, PLEASE HONOR YOU PROMISED SUBSCRITION RATES.

Dayton Daily News I started the Dayton News on a promotional offer

I started the Dayton News on a promotional offer. Just as offer was ending I received a letter in the mail on Feb 26 Saturday that my offer would expire on March 5th and my new offer would be $14.99/month for just the Sunday paper. Before I could even call on Monday to cancel (I can go to the store and buy cheaper than $14.99/mo). My debit card was attempted to be charged the $14.99 early morning on Feb 28th Monday. It kicked back due me not having funds in my account. I called DDN and asked them how can they even debit my card when I just received the letter and my current subscription hadn't even expired yet? She Informed me that they charged the card 5 days early. I said I want to cancel and I do not want my card charged. She promised me it would not be charged and gave me a confirmation of 3522. So on Wednesday, March 2nd my card is charged $14.99 by Cox newspaper and it is sitting in pended. Again I called DDN and spoke with a Supv and explained everything. She said she would talk to Finance and have them pull it back so it would drop off and never post. On March 5th it posted. So March 6th I have no newspaper after all the hassle and them actually debiting my account where I can't use that $14.99. I called DDN and asked for a paper. The guy read all the notes and said they did cancel the subscription and we're mailing me a check. I said I don't want a check. I don't have a checking account and for me to cash it it would cost me $7 this is RIDICULOUS! I said pls have them credit my account as I requested. I actually reported the charge fraudulent because in no way did I authorize this and I tried to cancel it twice. It seems once DDN has your card they ABUSE it. Never again will I be there customer! This has been a super huge inconvenience for me. I told the guy to stop the check because I will not cash it and only get 1/2 of my money back! What a scam this newspaper is!

Dayton Daily News Non delivery of newspaper, poor customer service I signed up for DDN and paid $19.99 using my debit card at a kiosk at a local Walmart in late

Non delivery of newspaper, poor customer service I signed up for DDN and paid $19.99 using my debit card at a kiosk at a local Walmart in late August and received a confirmation email the same day. I assumed it would take around a week for the papers to start coming. I never received the newspaper, or any additional correspondences/invoices until the 1st week of October (I wasn't billed in September because of a BOGO promo) when I was billed. I contacted Cox Media immediately around 10/14. I was told this would be escalated and there would be a credit on my account. No refund, but a credit on my DDN account and was told that my subscription would be good through November. I still didn't feel it was fair that I paid for 2 (3 if you include the BOGO intro deal) months and basically, she's saying, you'll receive the newspaper for the month you just paid for. I asked to be contacted by a supervisor, and was called, but I was at work and missed the call. I reached out again, and was transferred to a supervisor, James. James seemed jaded, disengaged and sarcastic. He said that I needed to have called immediately, but since I didn't there was nothing more he could do. I was frustrated because even after the initial complaint, I still have yet to receive one newspaper. When I asked why they haven't been delivered, if it's outside of the service area, any notes on the account, carrier issues etc...He quickly and rudely interrupted saying "mam, I don't live in that state, I don't know why you're not getting your newspaper" And kept repeating, "I can make sure you receive the paper 7 days a week, there's nothing more I can do" I disconnected a few moments later when I heard him chuckling with co-workers. I sent an email to customer service at DDN and still haven't received a reply. Still this morning, no paper. I accept that I called late to report this but I did not receive an additional email, invoice, bill or newsletter, I simply did not remember. I didn't ask for a refund, I would have been less frustrated if they at least offered to offer an additional month of newspaper. I don't have any answers, and they can't even seem to reliably deliver the paper. I have verified my address is correct and I have cameras outside of my house with motion detection, no one has tried to deliver the newspaper! The customer service experience was terrible and I have paid $20 twice and have not received anything.

Dayton Daily News April 14 ComplaintsBoard.com RE: Account No

April 14 complaintsboard.com RE: Account No. *** We have lived at the address *** since November . We lived at another address in Xenia for 25 years and never had a problem with Dayton Daily News. The good service evaporated when we moved to our present address. Following is a copy of the letter we sent to Dayton Daily News in 2018. DAYTON DAILY NEWS 1611 S Main St Dayton, OH [protected] Account number: *** Problem began 03/01 No Sunday paper received Called 04/03 04/08 04/15 04/18 05/02 06/06 Other calls weren't documented Their Delivery Guarantee "We promise a dry, readable newspaper delivered to your door by 6:30am on weekdays, 7:30am on Saturday and 8:00am on Sunday." No paper delivered: 04/03 04/08 04/15 no papers from this date forward spoke to (Sounds Like) *** - cancelled service 5/25 Money refunded 06 Attempted to cancel several times prior to the above date and they would promise to correct the problem. Our problem began a few months after we moved to ***, *** in November . The ongoing problem cannot be solved by us. We have tried. The company guarantees us our problem will be resolved but it never happens. Then through an ad in the Dayton Daily News (which we have to drive to a store to purchase) we renewed once more. Once again, they gave us a guarantee which was not fulfilled. Two weeks later, we have received no Sunday paper. The guaranteed starting date was November 11 and no paper was received. We called and they promised again. And on November 18, no paper was received. Our address is etched in the concrete on our house in big numbers and well posted on our mailbox. At our previous address, ***, we didn't have a problem. (End of letter sent in 2018) Strangely enough, we ALWAYS receive a card at Christmas time with his name and address: ***, OH 45385 We did send a polite letter to *** July 3. After that letter was sent, our service did improve for awhile. Following is a only a few times we have attempted to correct this problem: No Paper: 02/02 02/09 02/16 02/23 03/01 03/08 03/15 03/22 - delivered next door; they gave it to us 03/29 04/05 04/12 We call every week and receive a promise they will deliver a paper by 1:00 AND also promise they will resolve the problem. Obviously, we have grown weary of trying to keep track of all of the dates we didn't receive a paper. Dayton Daily News has a much better track of our problem and they always agree there is a problem and they will take care of it. The problem has never been corrected. Following is an excerpt from their invoice: "Our Delivery Guarantee We promise a dry, readable newspaper delivered to you by 8:00 a.m. on Sunday." This promise has not been fulfilled. When a paper has been delivered, a person drives by in a car and hurls it out of the window. We have found the paper in various places in our yard including the flower bed. If complaintsboard.com is unable to correct this problem, we believe we have no chance.

On Mar. 21, 2020, I subscribed online to the Dayton Daily News, supplying a credit card number for a three month subscription of $64.33, and received a confirmation number for order #280109 (copy #1, enclosed). A day or two later, I got an email that the credit card had not gone through. Assuming I had entered a digit wrong, I resubmitted on-Mar. 23. (copy #2, of confirming order #XXXXXX, enclosed). Within a few days, the paper began arriving. The last charge on my most recent statement was posted March 31, 50 I assumed it simply hadn't been posted promptly. I received a phone calls on April 13 telling me I owe the paper money. The account I wrote to fax to the Davron Daily News of that call is enclosed (#3). At 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, I got a recorded call asking me to press #1 to make an immediate payment if I wanted any more papers delivered. It was too late to contact any offices, so I emailed the customer care asking if this was a legitimate call and explaining the situation. I received an answering email on Sunday, May 17 from *** in Tier 2 (copy #4, enclosed). When I called the number in the email, I found Tier 2 does not accept incoming calls! A supervisor had all the correspondence and told mc apparently the subscription was expiring because, when my subscription expired in 2017, the paper sent approximately a month of papers during a "grace period" and those had been deducted from my payment. She assured me that a grace period for which the customer was later charged was explained on the back of the subscription bills. (Obviously, after three years, I no longer have any of these.) She also brushed off my concerns about the missing credit card payment, saying, "Sometimes computers have minds of their own" I was not aware of receiving any extra papers after my subscription expired in 2017; I would have been uncertain of the exact date of expiration due to missed deliveries of vacation stops, and as a former circulation manager for a weekly paper, I know the carrier doesn't always get the message immediately. I do remember, though, receiving several phone calls asking why I had not renewed and offering me various subscription deals, and never was any payment for a grace period mentioned. As it stands now, I have two confirmations of my order being received, a statement my credit card payment was received, several statements that it wasn't received, and a statement that the papers in 2017 I did not request had been deducted from the credit card payment the paper says it has not received! (Didn't Time Magazine end up in court several years ago for a similar practice?) First, I would like the Dayton Daily News to explain how they managed to lose two consecutive payments from the same customer and assurance that the card number did not fall into the hands of a hacker. If they do locate either or both payments, I would like the three months of papecs I paid foc, ending June 12, and I do not want to pay for the papers I received after any subscriptions expired. If the payment really didn't arrive, I will respond to a hard copy billing me for papers received between March 26 and May 18, when I spoke to a supervisor and cancelled the paper. And I would like to have the record cleared so if I resubscribe in the future I will be charged only for the papers I have ordered. Thank you.

Dayton Daily News My wife, ****, and I subscribe to the e-version of the Dayton Daily News: seemingly, the primary newspaper delivers the Sunday Values circular

My wife, ***, and I subscribe to the e-version of the Dayton Daily News: seemingly, the primary newspaper delivers the Sunday Values circular as additional advertising materials. We thoroughly enjoy the e-version of the Dayton Daily News but have no interest in receiving the Sunday Values circular. I am seeking your assistance to cease the delivery of the Sunday Values circular. My reasoning for wanting to cease the delivery of the advertising materials is two-fold: a.) my family and I travel frequently - in that the Sunday Values circular is simply tossed at the end of our driveway, it represents a security risk by announcing that we are not at home and b.) it is a waste of resources in that we never read the materials. The header of the Sunday Values circular states: Dayton Daily News "Sunday Values delivers valuable coupons, ads and inserts to your home each week, free of charge. If you would like to stop delivery, visit SundayValuesOhio.com and provide your address or call XXX-XXX- XXXX. Please allow two weeks to update our records." As the supporting materials will show, I have, on several occasions, requested that the Sunday Values circular not be delivered to my home; indeed, that on several occasions, I have been promised that the delivery will cease. Alas, all of my efforts have been unsuccessful. What should seemingly be an easy task to accomplish has fallen aside somewhere in the structure of Cox Enterprises, Inc.'s subsidiary or any of its other organizational arms. A summary of my efforts to cease the delivery of the Sunday Values circular (supporting documents are attached): a. On May 18, I emailed the Dayton Daily News requesting that the Sunday Values circular not be delivered to my home. Although the return reply to my email said I would receive a response within 48 hours, no response was forthcoming. b. After receiving an additional four editions of the Sunday Values circular, on July 8, I again emailed the Dayton Daily News with my request to cease the delivery. Indeed, I received a response to this request from The Pisa Group who courtesy copied the customer care group at the Dayton Daily News. The response said, "We certainly do apologize about the Sunday Values arriving at the house. We have escalated the issue up for you today to get all deliveries of the Sunday Values stopped immediately. If there is anything else we can help with please give us a call at XXX-XXX-XXXX and we would more than happy to help." c. Despite receiving an assurance that the Sunday Values circular would cease, I received an additional five editions of the newspaper. Again, on August 11, I emailed the Dayton Daily News apprising them that I was continuing to receive the Sunday Values circular. Indeed, I received two responses to this request: a.) the first erroneously thought I wanted to cancel our subscription to the e-version of the Dayton Daily News to which I replied that we did not want to do so and b.) a reply which stated, "We certainly apologize that you are still receiving the Sunday Values, we have escalated the issue today for you to have the delivery of the paper stopped. With the escalation it has been sent to the district manager for them to look into why it has not been stopped and to get it stopped for you." One would hope that the matter would have been settled but, alas, it was not: My wife and I were traveling from August 12 to September 1. When we returned home, there were no Sunday Values circulars on my driveway. I assumed that the circular had ceased but it was an erroneous assumption in that my neighbor told me that he had tossed the "nuisance papers". Since our return, I have received two additional editions (September 7th and 12th) of the Sunday Values circular. In Summary: a. Sunday Values is an unsolicited circular which litters my property - it represents a security concern for my family and is, simply, a waste of resources. b. The Dayton Daily News represents that there is an opt-out method for receiving the unwanted circular. c. I have made several attempts to exercise the opt-out method and have been promised that the circular would be ceased; having said that, these promises have proven to be misrepresentations. I am seeking your assistance in this matter. See Attachments
