We cancelled our contract and they continued to bill us!
We had a yearly contract with DEX. Nearly 2 years ago we declined to renew our contract due to fulfilling our advertising requirements elsewhere. DEX continued to bill us, stating that when we declined to renew our contract, we did not specifically say when our contract would end, therefore it was still valid and their charges were still valid. They continue to bill us today and have threatened legal action. I offered a three month settlement but they demanded a year's worth of payments, which I declined.
When you decline to renew a contract, the old contract expires. We do not owe them any money.
Desired outcome: DEX acknowledges that we do not owe them any money and ceases to harass us.

they added charges for a new year after signing up for one year. the bill balance just keeps growing!
Desired outcome: cancellation of contract no more new charges

My company, Tupelo Furniture Direct, contracted with Dex Media a couple of years ago. After paying thousands of dollars to Dex, I canceled my EBT. We did not receive even 'ONE" customer inquiry. When I complained to my rep, her statement was "You ve have a bad location" (she has since left the company and is no longer with DEX). Well, excuse me. She wa...

1-23-19. Dex Media over charged my account for the last 4 months. They claimed it was an error with the installation of a new system. The problem is they won't refund my money, only give me credit. The customer service agent, Matt Sword, was not helpful. I asked to speak to his supervisor and was informed that his supervisor didn't take calls. He refused to transfer me to somebody in billing. This company is shady at best. Stay away from doing business with them.
illegal unethical “contracts”
I don't have enough time or space here to write about all of the unethical fraudulent things I have experienced with this company. The last contract I actually met with a salesperson(which I did yearly since starting my business in 1998) was in 2005. That was the last date they can show that I signed a contract. That was with AT&T.
I received a bill from Dex YP this spring 2018 and wondered why I got it because I had stopped all yellow page ads years ago! When I called they said they had a verbal renewal at some point although they said it was from someone in my office, not me, the owner. They said they renew annually unless you cancel the service.
First of all, I didn't even give a verbal authorization and they can't prove they got one from anyone so for all these years I have been getting charged for something I never agreed to! They said "ideally someone from their company should contact me each year to see if we want to make changes but that doesn't always happen". I guess in over 10 years! Who does this!
Then when I tried to call to cancel (even though I had years ago), I had to talk to over 10 different people over the cours of over 6 months with no resolution. I always have to leave a message and when they call back and leave me a message they say "call me back at this number". When I call back, it is a general number and I either have to leave a message or tell the whole story to someone new!
This is the worst experience with a company I have ever had in my life as a business owner! There are so many other unethical things that occurred but I don't have time to report them all here.
I told them I would contact the BBB and they said it's ok because they will be able to respond and show all these letters I supposedly received each year saying the contract renews with out my verbal or written authorization.
You cannot sue them either as they have that in their contracts. Never sign a contract with DEX media unless you want to pay thousands for nothing.
website
I have been trying to contact someone to speak with about our website that is maintained by Dex Media. The previous person who was in charge of my account apparently no longer works there and I can't seem to get anyone to help me. I am very disappointed in the fact that no one has tried to contact me in regards to the services that Dex Media is suppose to be handling for my company. Maybe I should just not pay the bills they send me each month, would that get your attention! I expect someone to call me as soon as possible to help resolve the issues that I have.

"contract" cancellation
Client [protected]
The business was sold effective 1/5/2018. I have called, as has the previous owner, and we are told it's under contract and cannot be cancelled until it's renewal date. All we want is for the contract to be cancelled effective of the sale date of Jan 5, 2018.
Honestly, this company is a fraud. The previous owner saw zero benefit from this "marketing" agreement, which is expensive and has a lot of language making it difficult to cancel. I would advise anyone interested in advertising to select another company who is easier to work with and doesn't threaten to sue you --as Derell did at DexYP -- to keep you in contract that has no proven benefits to many companies. You might as well flush your money down the toilet than pay Dex.

Its amazing how they seem to have lots of people like myself having the same issue... and get it dismissed claiming they tried everything to contact the accuser. Sure seems odd. Learn from mine and many others mistake. Avoid these conartist scammers and go somewhere else. The way they do business is unethical and aparently possibly criminal. I will also be filing a complaint with the Florida State Attorneys office in an attempt to make sure they get the attention they deserve..
print and internet advertising
Dex will not close our account. They auto renewed without my consent or knowledge. I have left messages with our account rep since august of last year. I have instructed them severel times to close account. No one will send the paperwork to do so or close the online advertisement. We called our account rep in August of last year to try and cancel. He set up a call back apt and never called. We called again and set up a call back apt and never got a call back.
We have paid some of the bills to avoid collections but it has gone far enough. I want a refund for advertising paid for that we did not authorize or want.

..same issue here. Lodge a formal complaint with your State Attorneys office. And look into some of the class action lawsuits being filed against this sham of a company. I know I will be... Good luck and don't give up.. Help stop these criminals.
my digital advertising.
I am up to my wits end.Was billed for two accounts instead of one.
Rep did not follow through and over billed me.
Called several times and talked to several people ..was given the run around.
Tramatic experience with with DEX from the get go.
My first add produced no response..neither did my second add
Finally when I up grades there was hardly any difference
Then my tracking lines were messed up and for several months I lost all my clients.
After offering me a refund ..Jamie Ambrose cleverly used it up on expensive advertising with three month opt out...I chose the opt out..and a second account was forged which they keep billing me for. There were no other accounts.
This is very unfair to me
Ice been nothing short of tramatized with Dex

auto renewal
We are with Dex Media for our buisness advertising and have just been notified about a stupid auto renewal. That is unacceptable for the simple fact that it has been impossible to work with them. We made some changes to our website (which was a very long process) and couple months later it went back to the way it was due to some upgrade, err. On top of that they consistently had our wrong # in the phone book and online over a stupid tracking system that was faulty and we absolutely made it clear we did not want it. They are arrogant unprofessional careless over priced company... Well Dex be prepared because I would much rather spend a portion of the $14, 000 We spend a year ON MY LAWYER over paying you. The only way to resolve this is to accept the fact that you have lost a client of 25+ years with you and cancel our advertising IMMEDIATELY.

We had two contracts with this company. One was for a yellow page ad and that is completed and I paid it. The other was for SEO services. When I called them a few months after we started paying that there was no landing page and any information that was present was incorrect they failed to contact me. 8 phone calls later and the only people who would call back were the accounts receivable because they were looking for money. I continued to pay for several months until I stopped once again as no work had been completed for over 8 months. I filed a complaint with the state of New Hamphshire and I have been now contacted by the third collection agency they have hired to try to retrieve this falsely billed account. The second collection over a year ago stated to me that was not a legitimate claim and said they would not pursue it with me. That was September 2016. Now in November 2017 another agency is asking me to send all over again the information that I sent before. When does it become illegal for a company to attempt to collect a debt when the client has done everything they can to prove it is not proper.

phonebook and online ad
Act#[protected] very unhappy last year with communication. Received new rep Dustin who assured me I would receive better this year. Its actually worse. Ive emailed his manager to contact me several times and he will not. I do not know what Im paying for? Was told by a YP rep hes doing nothing. and never seen proof of phone book ad. I asked several times for this. I would like my account canceled..

renewed account without permission
We did not like our services. We expressed this. The lady was very pushy and didn't want to hear our complaints. We never agreed to renewing our account but the bills just keep coming. We do not want to renew and we did not express in any way that we would continue services with Dex Media. I have attempted to reach our "representative" on multiple occasions but my emails are ignored and go unanswered.
Maybe we should be giving this to our lawyer also.

This is the worst company ever...They were fired for incompetence 2 years ago...Now..All of sudden they are billing us again? Trying to get them to fix this problem is like finding a needle in a haystack...Today I am sending them a return receipt letter letting them know my attorney will be handling this if its not fixed within 30 days. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY EVER!
accounts payable/the entire fraud company
The account manager who was a member of my mom's church, sold her on a book of lies! Contract stated $199.00 this employee fraudulent sign my mom last name on a separate account leaving out three letters in her last name. The supervisor pointed this out to us only because this former employee placed us in the premium account. We were promised a professional photographer to record three 2 minute video's about our business and to shoot hd photos. This sales employee came out with his supervisor wearing a extra florida flower printed shirt with open toe sandles, we thought he just arrived in town from florida low maintenance no professionalism! Started taken photos of the rooms & kitchen with his android phone the photos were blurry fuzzy dark, & dex media tried to create a bed and breakfast site with dark photos. About three months after complaining they finally, hired a outside contractor to shoot the video and small little pictures he did not take any photos of the bathrooms closets or game room for our guest.
My mom continues to ask questions about her money being dedicated from her business account she was told last month we are working on it, it's a big company & it may take some time to refund your $549.99 on july 31, 2017 dex media once again tried to bill us. My mom went to her hub & her account is still active, she sent them a cancel my account email apparently dex media just deletes customers cancellations. (Tipical) scam the supervisor called yesterday 31 of july were trying to work this out you should be getting your $549.00 by august 2, 2017. Secondly its going into your business account ok. Oh no it's not ok my mom contacted her bank to stop all future billing. The site is fuzzy still no business no calls nothing. We live in one of the most prestigious areas in overland park ks. We need a class action lawsuit! My mom is a senior citizen, widow she needs to make a living & this is how dex media respects their businesses owners seniors. Cancel your accounts document every email, record every call block them from your bank asap! Let them have the site, build your own site take back your life take back your spirit and tell everyone to stay clear from dex & you must always read reviews on each company to make your decision. My mom is a christian and she believed her ex-church member meant her well. Please everyone love yourself and respect & leave this fraudulent company alone!
P. S
My mom did receive a credit for $549.00 after about three weeks. Credit the bank account is closed so how are they going to give us credit. If you allow dex into your account again shame on you keep all of your accounts closed and move on.
Sent from my sprint tablet.

online advertising
We have Dex Media online advertising and website. They say we signed a contract on which we could not adjust the budget, something we had always been able to do in the past. The worst part is that we have had almost zero results in the past year so we're paying more for much poorer performance. We no longer get any emails from our website, the phone calls are almost all telemarketers, and google Places now has our business name wrong !I have also spent many hours on the phone with an a service person from Dex trying to make our website perform optimally but with no results.
We had no idea that we were signing a contract that would not allow us to adjust our budget. And we've never even seen the contract! I thought the sales rep was acting awfully evasive when I asked to have a copy of the contract sent to me. I am now filing a complaint with our State Attorney General's office. Dex Media has got to stop scamming small business like this.
In addition when a new sales rep came to talk to us about this year's advertising I complained to him about this and asked what he could do for us as far as issuing a credit he was very rude and obnoxious and blamed me for the poor performance. We went around in circles about the issue until I told him I wasn't discussing any new advertising until the existing issue was resolved. At that point he abruptly jumped up and ran out of our house, almost letting our dog out, and then sped off down the street like a rocket. All Dex has done is say they cannot make a refund based on his behavior. I am not asking for that. I am asking based on poor product performance and being scammed into signing a contract that could not be cancelled.
I have been in contact with a sales manager named Megan Schmidt for the past two months but have gotten no results.
We want a refund of the balance due on the contract and ownership of our website, Face Book page and domain name all transferred to us.

I do not know why the one comment says that they tried to reach me but couldn't. I did speak to Jason Booher with Dex in Texas and he did refund $3, 200.00 to me. Since then I have also paid an additional $2, 500 but they will not reinstate our website thus costing our business more money. Jason confirmed that we do own our website and our domain name but will not answer my emails asking how I go about taking control of them.I have a letter from billing which had been lost in the mail stating that I had to pay $1, 900 to avoid having the website shut down and I have paid $2, 000 since the date of that letter. I did intend to continue using Dex after the refund but their refusal to reinstate the website has changed that. All I get is the run around when I call billing about it. They told me that the person who has to make that decision is the sales rep Jarred who is the one who made a scene in my home and stormed out the door. It's strange that he has the power to do that since when I asked him for help with my complaint he said there was nothing he could do. And he was wrong when he said there was no basis for a refund because Jason investigated and agreed that there was.
We have been in business for 35 years and have used Dex Media for advertising for as long as it has existed. Apparently Dex does not value it's long term customers.

phone book advertising
These guys called last year and asked for us to renew which we did not renew, we said we had different arrangements for our advertising, they were very pushy and kept calling, I said no every time.
That was 5 months ago and I just found out they have been billing our (AUTOMATICALLY RENEWED ACCOUNT) even though I refused to renew with them!
I called customer service, poor English, talks from a flow chart, no supervisor, the resolution center has odd hours and not available?
For example, Customer " Hi I have a question about my bill" Customer service "I am very sorry your having trouble, would you like to make a payment for $57 today?"
How is that customer service exactly? Its the same as blindly paying the bill without receiving the service, oh wait that's what they want!
I asked for proof of the approval of ad and contract which they can not provide because they didn't get one.
Next step? Attorney General?
I don't know why they want to fight so bad, just bad publicity for them and it makes you not want to use their service in the future even if it made sense to do so.

cancelling my service
Emailed to cancel my service. Was forward to "Customer Retention" Megan Schmidt who only seemed to delay the actual receipt of cancellation only to suck another payment out of my bank account. I've already transferred all accounts from Dexmedia and nothing else is attached but they refuse to respond to me with a date of cancellation and informing me that the service is over. I've reached out to multiple individuals at the company only to receive cut and paste emails in return.
dex media contract and services - why do they become burden & punishment?
I was diligently paying DEX Media customer from April 2014 to April 2015. During this period DEX tried to advertise my business on-line. They created a sketchy website with a phone number which wasn't mine, but which would forward caller to my business allowing DEX to monitor number of calls and even record conversations. After one full year of using DEX and paying my monthly fee I came to conclusion that it did not work. My small business did not receive any leads or potential clients through DEX. I decided to cancel services. This is when my DEX rep Alex call me with "regretfull" news that next year monthly fees will have some increase. I said that I may consider staying with DEX for another few months but only on two conditions: 1). I will be free to cancel services at any moment if I decide so and 2). I have to see results of my paying to DEX asap. Two days later Alex call me again and said that after speaking with his management he received OK for my both conditions. I gave him my oral agreement to continue. Next bill indeed did not increase, but printed agreement that came in a mail soon after spelled new 12-months binding agreement. I call Alex to find out why. I tried to reach him for next month or two and always had only one option - to leave a voice message, which I did each time and each time said that I am stopping my payments and want out and asked him or someone else to call me back. Nobody ever did. Now I receive payments requests from collection agencies and I suspect my business credit standing is either damaged or in jeopardy because of DEX Media practices. Very bad practices. I wish I did my on-line research before I signed up for their services in a first place.

duplicate accounts
Twice in the last two years this company has created duplicate accounts for my company. Each month I get 2 statements - one with an amount owed and another with a credit. Last year I canceled the account and continue to receive the invoices. Again this year I have called their Customer Non-Service and requested the accounts be canceled.
Sending e-mails to customer service gets no response.
Every time I call I get some poor operator that apologizes and promises to Straighten It Out. But saying the account can't be canceled
STAY AWAY.
THIS IS A SCAM !

automatic renewal
I have been advertising with Dex Media for a long time, I decided to go a different direction with my advertising. Dex media was doing unscrupulous practices by capturing my Google searches to make them look good, added a special phone number that hurt my natural Internet presence. I did not renew my Dex media account in June 2016, although they continued the billing. My accounts payable personnel continued paying them. I found out in December 2016. I called dex media where they told me they had the right to automatically renew my account. Now they are billing me for one more month and are adding penalties and interest, turned it over to a collection agency which this business has threatened me with harming my credit. I would recommend everyone to get away from dex media. I believe they owe me for 6 months of billing and I can't turn them over to a collection agency.
I did a quick search and found that dex has been taking advantage of many of their clients, shame on you.
