I have had direct TV now for about three months and have had one problem after another. I had initially switched from cable to DirectTV because I thought that their high definition service would be superior. Big mistake. Since the time of install I have been through 4 high definition receivers, each one failing for a different reason. When your service goes out with DirectTV your only option is to wait for a replacement box or for a service tech which in my case has taken close to a week each time. My service has been so spotty that I have had to retain my cable so that I have a backup. Talk about spending too much for T.V. service. Now that my experience with these buffoons has soured to the point it has i decided that i had had enough. Unfortunately their two year contract insulates them from having to provide any level of acceptable service at all. Even though my experience has been a nightmare and I have spent countless valuable hours trying to resolve issues they will not offer to terminate my contract no matter how many times I have requested this. I am currently without any service again and I have decided that I am going to bite the bullet and pay the termination fee. I am not litigious person but have considered taking these bullies to court. I can't imagine that I am the only person that has had these issues. I would avoid doing business with this company at all cost. I wish good luck to all those that are in the same boat as me.
First i had a problem with billing. now they cut one of my recievers off without being told. no matter what number i called noone answered and problably want to bill me for services that they cut off. best bets comcast
Direct TV unfairly discriminates against Russian speaking citizens of USA. I am personally offended by Direct TV commercials. What is worse, Direct TV promotes and supports hate against Russian speaking population. There are a lot of posts online where people quote Direct TV commercials. I suggest to boycott DIrect TV until they stop being racist . Your commercials not funny if they target my place of origin. STOP DISCRIMINATION!
You have got to be joking.
Yea, so if you take the rich white guy and put a southern accent on him would you still be complaining? They're not even discriminating, grow up.
Same story here. Had a technical problem with a receiver. A new one was delivered. The technician left a receipt that said "swap replacement." When I contacted Direct TV they said that because it was "swapped out" to get a working receiver that this event trigged a new TWO YEAR contract. That very next day I tried to contact the technical representative to get the entire procedure reversed only to find out that Direct TV does not publish any data, phone number or location of their technical support representatives. In fact, they use SUB CONTRACTORS! These Subcontactors are the only in person representative that the customers come into contact with. The technician say nothing about the extention of the contract, not even a warning and this is costing me now $440. This is a total scam on the consumer. Where are our rights as a consumer? This is most unprofessional.
Direct TV just informed me I have a 1 year contract w/them even though my contract was up years ago. Their reasoning: our bedroom receiver (which we owned) broke & I got one that someone was no longer using (so also owned) & had them switch the signal to the working receiver that I hooked up to the TV. So NO new services, NO new equipment from them but I now have a contract?! Customer "service's" solution is for me to send a letter & they will reply within 3 weeks of receiving letter. If this is the kind of service you are looking for Direct TV is the company for you. BTW the rep who switched the signal for me never mentioned a contract or I would have just cancelled the service in the bedroom as we do not use it much, just nice to have on occasion. I have been with Direct TV for 10 years and this is the treatment I get...on hold for 15 minutes and then told that they can't do anything and cannot look into anything I just need to submit a letter and wait...and of course keep paying them in the mean time whether I want to or not. Ironic thing is I probably would have stayed with them at least the year or more anyway under normal circumstances as I am used to their channels and menus etc. I am making sure everyone I know hears about their terrible customer service and everyone I don't know that I can reach too.
Left Dish Network after many years use at our summer cottage due to service issues and signed up in March, 2011 for Direct TV; great rebate offer and initial installation service. Also, referred you neighbor. Of course we had already alled for intallation prior to telling them about the referral, so no rewards. That as not an issue fo us. Told to call rebate line to activate before installation after account # given to us. Did that - Direct TV claims we didn't. Then went on-line to claim rebate. Website not functioning properly for that function for 3 weeks until today. Finally got to correct page to sign-up for rebate (already received first full bill) and rebate states $31 rebate for 12 months, not the 2 years we were led to believe at time we signed up for service which is a mandatory 24-month contract. This is a cottage...we do not want to spend $100 a month for TV for limited days usage. I called to complain. First put on hold waiting for a supervisor, then disconnected. Called back and got a supervisor, Max, who did not listen and talked over me continuously. His only comments were that we should've looked at the ads they send in mail to customers...we weren't customers until after locked in, and we should check-out website for terms...no internet access at cottage to see their website prior to signing up. We got number from yellow pages.
If we sign the agreement for the rebate, we are agreeing to only 12 months. If we don't, we are stuck with $100 a month bill before we really start using it.
We are totally stuck with this mess.
My Daughter was living at my house. She had Direct TV while living there, but then moved to to another state. She called Direct TV to move her service, which they did. But they would not remove the satellite dish from my house. They told my Daughter that she needed to remove it. It this right? Has anyone else had this problem?
Yes, that unfortunately is completely true. Lucky for her its your house. I lived in an apartment complex that charged me a hundred dollar satellite deposit. I realized after ordering the "move" of my service and they informed me I would just leave my dish that the hundred dollar deposit is to cover paying for someone to come dig the post out of the ground and carefully remove the wiring! UGH! I was SO ANGRY!
I just had the same thing happen to me. They took over 400.00 out of my account WITHOUT me knowing, causing my house payment to bounce. They don't care about you, all they care about is the money. My package I got was 29.99 a month...but after they get done with tax for this and that my bill is 100.00 a month, I'm so sick of all these companys jerking people around...it would be nice if someone came up with a company that charged what they told you every month without All the hidden crap. Sick of liers...
We finally disconneted with direct tv. We only had two more months on our contract. They charged us $40.00 early disconnection fee. I got a final bill. I paid it and then i got a bill for $1.88, late charges, i paid the bill within a week. I was told that my march bill was late. Not it was paid on time. Final bill is all charges are on the bill. Oh may i add that was one reason we disconnect was that they would put a increase on your bill anytime they wanted too. So long sucker. I will never have Direct TV again...Ever. Aka nanny
I am writing after several failed attempts to obtain rebates for my fathers account. I am a customer of direct tv and I recommended the company to my father for satellite services in January, 2011. There were to be several rebates to be applied to his accounts, making his monthly bill more affordable. My father can not read, therefore I do my best to take care of his financial situations. When we were calling direct tv to obtain services for his home, it was never mentioned that the rebate had to be submitted with in 90 days. All we were told was that he could submit it prior to installation, or afterwards but it would take 6-8 weeks for his rebate to be applied to his account. I was misinformed completely when it came to submitting his rebates. I called direct tv yesterday, Wednesday, April 27, 2011. I was on the phone for 4 hours yesterday due to being disconnected from them 7 times. Noone would help me and a rude comment was made by one of their supervisors when I told them that my father could not read, this is why I was his point of contact for his account. I suffered emotional distress because of their lack of concern and pointless customer service.
Please help me with this matter.
My ex husband had direct in his name only as we were divorced. After the sale of the home I tried to turn in the receivers and they would not accept them saying they had to come from him. Now they say I am liable and was on the account for $489.57. How can I be on the account when trying to turn in the receivers they would not accept stating the account was in his name, we were divorced and I could just be trying to pull a fast one on him.
This company is full of it!
Direct TV is holding my final payment to them for 40 days before they send me the credit I am owed. I cancelled them because of the worst customer service I'd ever experienced and this is the icing on the cake. The payment to them has been out of my checking account for 3 weeks already while sit and collect interest as a huge corporation on money they owe me. Is this insane or not?
If you change service comcast is not all that better in PA if you live here. They tell you they will give you credits and all which sounds great until you get your bill. Just trying to help you not get another business like the one you are coming out of.
I have spent over a month trying to get Directv to refund $275 that they withdrew directly from my checking account after I was told I would not be charged a cancellation fee if I merged my account with my boyfriend's after moving in together. They sent a bill for a cancellation fee...I called...was told to disregard it, it would be taken care of. 9 days later, $275 was withdrawn from my checking account by directv! I called...it would be refunded in 8 days. 10 days later, no refund. I called...there was a mistake...it would be corrected and refunded in another 8 days. 8 days later, no refund. Everytime I talked to someone they would correct it, but nothing ever happened. I asked to speak to a supervisor each time but they had no direct lines to a supervisor! Finally, feeling like I was being scammed and given the run -around and not knowing where to go next, I found this website with another directv customer's posting with the corporate office number:
Tel. [protected]
They were more than willing to go above and beyond and were very apologetic for my troubles! So call this number if you can't get anywhere with customer service! Before finding the posting with this number, I couldn't find a number ANYWHERE on the internet to reach someone higher in the company!
Here is a copy of the email I just sent: I have been a customer since April 2009. I have always paid my bill my time. I used to stand up for your company when others trashed it. Now that I want to cancel, because your service has gotten progressivly slower and now does not work at all (for over a week), I am being told that you are going to charge me 220.00 to cancel because I upgraded to a hd box 1 year ago which signed me up for a 24 month contract. I have already been a customer for over 2 years, and I paid 206 for you to install the new box. I do not authorize you to charge my bank account for this amount. I am happy to pay for this month of service, even though I haven't been able to watch anything for over a week. Do not charge my account the 220.00 for the 'cancellation fee'. A. Webster, very unhappy customer
Good Luck--they will continue to harass you and charge you
I have continued to receive calls around 6 am from Direct TV automated systems. I have filed 2 BBB complaints against the company along with calling back every time that I receive these calls before 8 in the morning, I have received approximately 10 calls so far. I have phone records to confirm these calls and have the BBB complaints to also confirm that this has been addressed to the company. Direct TV says that they do not have any control over their automated calls. So I am assuming that this allows them to break the law by ILLEGALLY calling people before 8 am just because a computer is placing the call. I still do not have this issue resolved.
I'm sending this note to let you all know that your sales team is falsly advertising your sales for your company and i spoke with the supervisor listed on my account and she (Denise in Oregan) was just as ignorant than the person that falsly sold me this advertised products that i brought from your company he quoted me a price that is untrue and i called after getting the conformation number to check on my order and its actually $40.00 more than he quoted. It's not fair in this economy that you get scammed and try and correct it and you just get talk to and lied to any kinda way i could have been a loyal customer, but where is the loyalty from your company.
I Ordered a Direct Tv bundle package . They hooked me up with there service and my internet service with AT&T. From day we had no internet service. I talked too numerous people and machines to fix the problem with no results. I then canceled the AT&T portion of my bunble package and contacted Direct TV to inquier what other internet service they could provide for me. They said no other service was avabile in my area thru them. Then told me to contact someother provider and pay for both at a higher price than quoted by Direct. After informing them i had a package deal and if they could not offer service to me i had to cancel them and get a provider that could. I had the service for 17 days and was informed that I would be charged 480.00 fee for early canclation. And I have been in contact with at least 50 representatives with no avale. They say I still have to pay the early disconect fee for only half my service. Anyone reading this don"t let Direct TV screw you. Be smart go to someone else.
They are the WORST!
I ordered a bundle package from Direct TV. They installed both systems, one of them being AT&T for my internet service. From the first dya of installation my internet service did not work. After many hours on the phone with many people they were unable to correct the problem. I canceled there service. I contacted Direct TV and asked for another provider for internet. They said no other service was avabile in my area and to look for my own provider at my cost. I informedthem I had a bundle package and did not want to pay for a sererate servie. They could not provide service so IO canceled them. They said I would be charge $480.00 for early discont fee. I did not get my service but they still want to charge me.
Called to cancel service due to price and another company had better deal, but since I was with this company for almost 10 years they offered new deal but would Not disclose channels I would get. I accepted and then tried to see what channels I got, and then called back to cancel. They tried to get me to then upgrade to another plan, but again would not tell me all the channels because, and I quote, "
that would take too long". So bottom line is they refuse to disclose what channels would be on these plans and they refuse to list them on the web site because they state they are only for special use. Really, how can you make an informed decision with out all the information? Very deceptive! I was zoo happy with this company until this. I was hung up on when I called back to cancel and refused to give me a confirmation number like they did when I ordered. I have always told everyone how happy I was with this company, but will no longer refer anyone to them. Just sad .
We signed up for the movers program when we lost our house in Florida and had to move back to New Jersey. We moved into a relatives house to get back on our feet and couldnt get direct tv hook up. The 6 months ended and I called to extend and they did. At the end of the next 6 month I got a bill from them for $335. To make a long story short... after over an hour on the phone I had to end up cancelling the account to stop them from charging me. The never contacted me like they did when the first six months was up and turned my service back on...knowing that they never came out to hook it up. The would not extend the movers program for me another six months until we found a place. I went round and round with them...kept getting put on hold...they say the same things over and over again. They ended up taking off the charges they bill a month in advance for but I still ended up having to pay $143 for service they never reinstalled! The poor girl on the phone said she was going to take $100 off for me for having to wait so long. Then a rude supervisor gets on the phone and says Im not getting it because Im cancelling and not staying with them...that discount was only if I was being saved as a customer. Customer service rep said it was for my troubles and mentioned nothing about having to stay with them. So it ended with them coming to pick up my Boxes and I still having to pay them $143 for a service I never had hooked up. I wasnt an entry level customer either. I was with them for 4 years...my monthly bill was over $170 and I got the football package every year. When we get our own place again Direct TV will not be in our house! Worst customer experience I have ever had today with a company!
I called and ordered Direct TV service because it sounded promissing! I found that I was wrong and it was a huge disappointment instead! When I ordered the service they told me it would be $21.15 to start and install the service. Upon arrival of the installer he told me that I would have to pay an additional $75.00 for a pole and another additional $16.00 for a flat wire. I explained to him that Direct TV DID NOT quote that to me in the pricing. He told me that if I did not pay the total $91.00 additional money that he could not hook up the service. Needless to say the service was not hooked up! When the installer left I called Direct TV back and cancelled the ordered and requesting the refund of my money! Nearly three weeks later and constant phones calls to Direct TV I still have not had my money refunded! Both my Fiancee and myself have been on the phone with Direct TV for what has added up to many hours and converstions with numerous people! I am talking about over 30 different people that we talked to and we are still waiting on our refund! I will NOT ever consider this company again and do NOT recommend it to anyone! This was nothing but a disappointment from the very first phone call! I called Comcast and had service in 2 days!
Direct tv SNATCHED OUT $ 897.95 out of my Husbands account today! NO AUTHORIZATION, NO LETTERS, NO NOTHING.. We moved from SC to NY in February.. When we moved to ny, we tried to set up service come to find out we could not put up the satellite dish in the high rise building, so we cancelled service in February. From March to May they were billing us, finally I guess they decided to take out the cancellation fees of $280.00 which they claim is our fault because the landlord won't allow the satellite dish. After the 3rd phone call The Cust. Svc Rep had the nerve to tell me that "You should have moved to a building that accepts Direct Tv" .. so, we are liable for $ 20 a month cancellation fee until our contract is over in another year and a half. I have NEVER heard of a SCAM such as this. The equipment was billed for $401.00 they can have their cable boxes its not that serious... but the billing charges that were being charged to our CANCELLED SERVICE, were reversed of $145.00 ( which take a few days to come back on our account) HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SERVICE I RECEIVED TODAY! My Husband had 2 Service Reps that told him, " even though you don't have service, you will continue to be billed until the equipment is returned" even if you cancelled service. I will definitely send a letter to the Corporate Office, not sure how much that will help, but better said then unsaid!
i can show where i have paid bill every month by my bank statements, but they still disconnected service
Now that is a great write-up! If you had any more information about the problem, I think we would all be too over-whelmed to come to a logical conclusion.
PS: DirecTV is all about screwing their customers - it just took you a little longer to realize the reality of their existence.
You can't talk to anyone for the first 30mi. on the phone. Wnen you finally get someone on the phone they transfer you all over and still no resolution. They automatically start charging you for free stuff with out contacting you like they said they would. Then you can't get it reversed. Also the $100 they advertise for referrals doesn't happen. "they have no record" How convenient.
I ordered Direct TV in January 2011 based on a brochure I received in the mail which advertised their Choice Xtra package for $34.99 per month. My monthly amount due they just help them selves to on my credit card so it has a nil balance each month. I received my May statement and noticed that I was being charged $65.99 for the package that was advertised for $34.99. When I phoned their customer service they said to me that in the very fine print it was stated that a rebate had to be applied for. When I asked them how I do that they said iuts too late now as this had to be done within 90 days.
As far as I am concerned this is misleading advertising!
Please advise what can be done.
I wopuld imagine that if I cancel the service there will probably be more charges as per other e-mails on this web site.
an spanish accent lady picked up my call extremely rude hanged up on me without even resolving issues with them.
DIRECT TV SUCKS! CUSTOMER SERVICE EVEN WORSE!
DO NOT GET THEIR SERVICE
When we ended our service with direct TV they debited our checking account for the box ans remotes. We called and complained and they eventually sent a box and credited our account.
We never gave permission for them to debit the account. You gotta really read the fine print with them. They are thieves!
There is a post going on facebook that customers victimized by the joplin tornado who have lost anything from there home, family, and children even are calling to cancel the direct tv. Direct tv is charging them $500 if they dont have the box and remote. I understand to be succesful in a business you got to make money however if it wasnt worth customers you wouldnt have one. There should be an exception made for those individuals who are suffering so much not more stress and problems. Shame on direct tv there is a boycott going on. I will never consider this company. Bless jopin all its people you remain in my prayers!
Pour some salt on that wound, DirectTV - As Joplin victims call Direct TV to cancel their service due to homes completely wiped off the map, they are being told to send in a box or remote control or pay a fine of $500+ to cancel service. DirectTV should be boycotted. Tell their employees to go to these FORMER homes and find their remote controls themselves!... REPOST to help get DirectTVs attention..
We moved from Missouri to Florida in August of 2010 and had our satellite disconnected. When we arrived in Florida they sent us a bill for $33.16.We had used our credit card to pay them off before we left Mo. They tried to collect it again by using our credit card but the move caused us to max it out so they could not. We paid them and had the credit card company issue a new one so the could not try again.Well they did and the credit card company let then have a months bill $79.86.When we ask for our money back they quit answering our calls and so far have not sent our money back.
It is being told that Direct TV is charging toronado victims $500 if they are unable to return a remote &/or box when they call to cancel their service.
Direct Tv ( What a bunch of crooks, this company must be ran by burney madader and his ponzey scheme)
I cancelled my service due to tv remotes never working and channels that i was paying for never came in in other rooms.
When i called customer service i was on the phone for over a hour reprograming remotes, like i work for f-ing direct tv, there customer service sucks and are trained to debate with customers, thay are big scammers. Im sure they hold calsses on how to deceive money from people. So i cancelled my service and they charged my credit card for $800.00 without permission. I am contacting nj trades commision tomorrow and have already contacted the better bussiness burea.
There needs to be a class action lawsuit filled againt direct tv, the things they do are not fair and i am on disabilty.
They ### on the little people, i am also calling the police department for credit card fraud against them.
I have had nothing but problems with direct tv, if the connection isnt going out than my bill is escalading higher and higher!
once my signal was out for two whole weeks; customer service seemed to be absolutely no help with that. and did i get discounted for not being able to use their service for two weeks. NO. Than about a week later it went out again...for a week this time.
My bill is supposed to be set at a rate of 48.49 a month, yet it is rarely that. Then i was offered hbo and cinemax FREE for three months. come to find out i had to pay 15 dollars for hbo and i would get cinemax free. SCAM! Two months ago when i paid my bill on the automated billing service over the phone, i was told my bill was 67 dollars because i had to pay for the hbo so after i paid that i spoke to another opperator who said i had a promotional rate which made that months bill lower. i was told i had a credit balance because of this, so next month i didnt call in to pay my bill because i thought there was enough credit balance left to cover the next bill. the following month i was charged 88 dollars because some how the credit balance...wanst there.
i have only been with them for ten months and will enjoy the day my 1 year contract is up because i will never use direct tv again. i have been the most unsatisfied customer.
Direct TV is trying to charge me $240 for early cancelation. I had service for a year and they are telling me by just accepting there service I am bound to a two year contract. I wasn't even there for the instalation and never signed anything. The representative that I bought service from never mentioned a contract at all. This should be a crime. Now I have to write to the dispute department and they will probably never dismiss this charge. I will never use them again. They are crooks.
