Doteasy Doteasy Hosting Review: Poor Security, Unresponsive Support, Unfair Pricing

than a sieve. I had high hopes for their services, but unfortunately, they fell short of my expectations. My website was repeatedly hacked, and sensitive customer data was compromised. It's a good thing I had backups, or else I would have lost everything.

When I reached out to their support team for assistance, I was met with frustration. They took days to respond to my emails, and when they finally did, their suggestions were inadequate and did not resolve the issue. I felt like I was talking to a brick wall.

To make matters worse, they suspended my web hosting without warning. I had to pay an equal price to reactivate my hosting, even though I had already purchased it for a long term of 3 years. It was a huge inconvenience and a waste of money.

What really disappointed me was the lack of security measures in place. There was no MOD Security in the cpanel, and the virus scan was non-existent. It's no wonder my website was hacked so easily.

Overall, I would not recommend Doteasy for their hosting services. Their security is poor, their support is unresponsive, and their pricing is unfair. Save yourself the trouble and find a better hosting provider.

Doteasy Doteasy's Unreasonable Domain Release Fee and Poor Customer Service

I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with Doteasy. I've been trying to transfer my domain name to another registrar and host, but they're making it really difficult for me. I did everything right - I logged in, got the authorization code, and initiated the transfer before my domain expired. But then I got a notice from the new registrar saying that the transfer failed because of a lock status. I messaged Doteasy about it, but they didn't get back to me until after my domain had already expired.

Now they're telling me that I have to pay their "domain release fee" if I want them to unlock it. And get this - the fee is the same amount as renewing and hosting for another year! I mean, come on. I've already paid for another registrar and host, and I don't want to do business with Doteasy anymore. But they're holding my domain name hostage, and I don't know what to do.

I checked the lock status of my domain when I was getting the authorization code, and it showed as unlocked. But after the transfer failed, I checked again and it was suddenly locked. It's like they're trying to make it as difficult as possible for me to leave. I've tried messaging their support team and even calling them, but nothing seems to be working.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend Doteasy to anyone. They're not being very helpful, and their fees are ridiculous. If you're looking for a new registrar or host, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

Doteasy Doteasy Web Hosting Review: Unreliable and Untrustworthy - Look Elsewhere for Hosting Services

Doteasy is a web hosting company that I would not recommend. As someone who used to design websites, I had around 30 domains hosted with them. At first, they were good, but after a few years, I noticed some issues. Whenever I let a website lapse, they started charging my credit card for services that were not even being used. These charges were for things like spam filters and domain locking, which everyone complains about. When I tried to negotiate with them, they only offered in-house credits and would not explain how they charged me. They also refused to give me the name of their managing director, which made it impossible to escalate my concerns.

It's frustrating that they get away with this because they are based in Western Canada and know that they are almost untouchable. I live in Ireland, so it's not like I can just walk into their office and demand answers. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experienced this issue, and it's not fair that they are making money off of people's lapses.

I plan on starting an online campaign to expose their cheap scam. It's clear that they have made millions off of unsuspecting customers, and it's time for them to be held accountable. If you're looking for a reliable web hosting company, I suggest looking elsewhere.

Doteasy Doteasy Review: Unprecedented Customer Service and Reliability!

I've been with Doteasy for over 20 years now, back when they were just starting out as a web-hosting provider. I've been a loyal customer ever since, having them host over a dozen of my domains. Their customer service is what sets them apart from the rest!

Whenever I need to contact them for any reason, whether it's a question, concern, or change to my services, I always receive personalized and attentive help from their staff. They respond almost immediately, and I've never had to wait longer than 24 hours for a response. This level of service is truly unprecedented, and it's clear that Doteasy values each and every one of their customers. They make you feel like family, and that's why I plan to stay with them for life!

I can't say enough good things about Doteasy. Their customer service is top-notch, and their prices are very reasonable. I've never had any issues with downtime or slow loading speeds, and their website builder is very user-friendly. If you're looking for a reliable web-hosting provider, look no further than Doteasy!

Overall, I would give Doteasy six stars if I could. They truly go above and beyond to make their customers feel valued, and that's something that's hard to come by these days. If you're looking for a web-hosting provider that cares about its customers, look no further than Doteasy!

Doteasy Stay Away from Doteasy: Frustrating Web Hosting Company with Terrible Customer Service

Doteasy is one of the most frustrating web hosting companies I have ever dealt with. I recently tried to discontinue their service, but it was such a hassle that I had to take a six month break from dealing with them. However, I decided to give it another shot this week and try to transfer my domains.

At first, I tried to unlock my domains using their handy lock-unlock icon. I clicked on unlock multiple times, but it kept taking me to a page that offered me locking service for $6.95 per domain. I was confused because if it was already locked, why would I need to purchase the service to lock it again? I had to fill out a contact form to get more information and found out that the service was not even on my account. I had to fill out another form, which would be sent to me by the billing department, before they could unlock my account.

If I still wanted to transfer my domains, they made me a terrible offer to stay with them. I declined and three days later, I received an email from another customer service manager offering me a better deal to stay with them. Or, I could request the form from the billing department which they need in order to unlock my account. It was such a headache dealing with them that I am going to make it my life's work to tell everyone to stay away from this awful company.

In my opinion, Doteasy deserves to go under because of their terrible customer service and confusing website. I hope that others will heed my warning and avoid the frustration that I experienced.

Doteasy Reliable Canadian Web Hosting with Great Customer Service: Doteasy Review

Been with Doteasy since 2005 and still with them now. They're a Canadian company which works for us. Their customer service is great, but you gotta know that you gotta use their ticket system. It's not fast, but it's consistent and well thought out. If you articulate your issues well, they'll take care of you. They're not great with phone calls, but they communicate well through tickets. They'll call if it's super important, but we've only gotten three calls in 12 years. We've never had bad service on our tickets. Their team is great and will explain everything in detail and with patience. We've been in many situations as front-end and back-end developers and they've always handled it well. If you're looking for a good Canadian company, Doteasy is a good one to work with. Unlike other reservation sites, transferring your site to another site is never an issue with Doteasy. That alone makes them a winner. We're still with them and will continue to do business with them.

Doteasy Doteasy Review: Poor Customer Support and Failed Domain Transfer

I gotta say, my experience with Doteasy was not great. I had to talk to their customer support a bunch of times - on the phone, through live chat, and by submitting a case ticket - just to get my domain transfer sorted out. I made sure to review everything carefully and ask for exactly what I needed, but despite all that, my order never got fulfilled. I even got an email saying my payment was declined, which was totally untrue. I was really hoping this wouldn't take too long, since I had a deadline to meet, but no dice. In the end, my domain expired and got snatched up by someone else. I'm pretty upset about it, to be honest. I mean, I had everything ready to go, including an authorization code from Godaddy, and my domain was worth a decent amount of money. It's not like I was asking for the moon or anything. I feel like Doteasy dropped the ball big time, and I'm not happy about it. So yeah, I'm giving them a low score. Not cool, Doteasy. Not cool.

Doteasy Doteasy Review: Questionable Billing & Business Practices, Avoid at All Costs!

Doteasy is a company that engages in some questionable billing and business practices. They have been known to charge customers for cancelled accounts without their consent, which is definitely not cool. They also do not follow Icann policies, so be warned. I used to work there, and I was pretty disgusted at how I had to lie to customers and make excuses on why we couldn't transfer their domain name.

One thing to note is that if a customer changes their contact information on the domain, they cannot transfer the domain away from Doteasy until after 60 days. This means that you are basically forced to renew with Doteasy. If you want to transfer your domain name before expiry, they will keep the ball rolling until it expires, and then tell you it has expired, so you can't transfer it and you are required to renew, which is a 60 day lock.

If you try to dispute charges via your bank, they will charge you a hosting chargeback fee. So, it's best to avoid any disputes if possible.

I highly recommend that you do not have any business dealings with Doteasy. Once your domain name is expired, if you are on their FREE plan, after 40 days they will start to bill you $1.95 / month for webhosting without your permission. This is definitely not cool.

They will judge you based on your level of English, the country you are from, and many more factors, including your gender. They will put notes all over your account not to do business with you if you ask too many questions or ask for help at all. They will note you as a troublemaker and basically hang up the phone on your or ignore your emails for help.

Their servers are not secure, like any "shared hosting" company, you cannot rely on them. You will get hacked into if one site gets compromised. Their managers and supervisors will laugh in your face and ignore your request to speak to them.

They also do not care about BBB ratings or ICANN, they are not scared of them. They will find any way to screw you over for your money and take away your business.

If you try to register a domain name that's even close to popular, you register your name, and happen to be a celebrity or a major corporation, they will take your domain for you and take ownership of it. They will make you pay quite a large sum of money to get it back, basically kidnapping your domain and your business until you pay the ransom.

They also hide under different aliases of companies, so it's important to do your research before doing business with them.

If you purchase a domain name on a promotion, you are not entitled to transfer domain services. You have to pay a substantial cost to get your domain name away from them.

Trust me, as an ex-employee, I highly recommend that you do NOT do business with them. Go to GoDaddy or HostGator who will treat you like royalty. Make sure to read their terms and conditions word by word before signing any contracts with them.

Doteasy Doteasy Review: Unhelpful Customer Service and Unauthorized Charges

Doteasy is a web hosting company that recently charged my credit card without my authorization. I am no longer the billing party for the domain, but they still charged my account last week. It seems like they are too nice to review their own records, as they want me to get a refund from the new domain owner, even though they claim the website changed hands months ago. I contacted their customer service, and Richard from customer disservice/EasyBox was the one who responded. He was not very helpful and just told me to contact the new owner for reimbursement.

I am in need of cancelling the charge for renewal of the domain, as I am no longer affiliated with upcbelviderenj.org. The Church has indicated they were to remove my credit card info as of last year. It's frustrating that Doteasy doesn't seem to care about their customers and just wants to pass the responsibility onto someone else.

I have been emailing back and forth with Doteasy's customer service, but they seem unwilling to look at the Doteasy transactions. I even threatened to contact the Federal Fraud division of the FCC and my bank for charges against their website for the previous noted charges as of June 17th. It's disappointing that it had to come to this, but I will do what I need to do to get my money back.

Overall, I would not recommend Doteasy as a web hosting company. Their customer service is unhelpful and they don't seem to care about their customers. It's important to find a web hosting company that values their customers and takes responsibility for their mistakes.

Doteasy Captivating and Heartfelt: A Review of The Fault in Our Stars

1) I have been with DOTEASY for over 10 years but only two of my domains were ever developed. All of the domains were registered and renewed under the $0 basic hosting plans. One domain, which I had never developed, was converted as a "mandate" by DOTEASY. In 2011 thought I was paying my usual annual registration renewal fee because the sum for a year's worth of hosting fees was virtually identical to that of a domain renewal fee, but all I really paid was the hosting conversion that I did not initiate and therefore did not cue into. Ironically, DOTEASY managed to notify me that I needed to pay this hosting fee but for the first time in all my years doing business with DOTEASY the notice pertaining to the actual domain renewal failed to flag my attention. The domain expired. Upon contact, a support rep in March 2012 quoted the WHOIS record to prove I had lost the domain vs. had it hijacked, which is what I had thought took place. He stated that I was no longer the registered owner, but most of the response consisted of pointing out that the hosting cyle and the registration renewals are not one and the same. Fees linked to a single domain do not run on corresponding billing cycles, and this is what contributes to the confusion! I responded to state it didn't make much sense to disassociate the hosting billing cycle from the domain registration cycle because if one expires without the other, the website will go down. I never got a straight answer as to why DOTEASY can implement a mandatory conversion from no-cost hosting to fee-based hosting but set up the "monthly" billing to overshoot the term of one's domain registration. If one should intentionally release a domain and such a hosting service is running on an entirely different billing track they claim you can't receive a refund even on an UNUSABLE difference. I have inquired about credits, since DOTEASY doesn't offer refunds, and even this has been denied after paying THREE YEARS worth of hosting fees on a domain I was told by DOTEASY support I no longer owned years ago! This is shady territory, folks!

2) DOTEASY support in 2012 did not advise me how to go about canceling the hosting plan on the defunct domain, their only emphasis was on the fact that they do not issue refunds. I accepted the fact that somehow I got roped into a "bait & switch" ? going from $0 hosting to a fee-based hosting plan even though the website had never been developed and therefore never occupied server resources. But because someone else had now legally obtained my former domain and I could not develop it, let alone host it, I assumed I would not be on the hook for charges above and beyond the term I was in at the time I contacted DOTEASY support. I was wrong. After quoting me the WHOIS record to prove I had no rights to the domain, DOTEASY support nonetheless did not deactivate the hosting service going forward even though I had asked for a refund once I realized it was no longer mine to host! Fast forward now to February 2015: I AM STILL BEING CHARGED HOSTING FEES FOR A DOMAIN I HAVE NOT OWNED FOR THREE YEARS.

I feel like I have been the victim of unethical, if not fraudulent, business practices.

3) DOTEASY will use any payment method you have used to authorized a domain renewal to satisfy other service obligations associated with other accounts even if you have not configured a "master" payment method. I know this because after my previously-mentioned domain expired sometime in 2011 I was, at that time, not on an auto-payment method for any services. My payment method even managed to expire and yet DOTEASY continued to bill annual "monthly" hosting fees for the domain I no longer control.

4) DOTEASY in more recent times has added a check box stating that once you even attempt to update a payment method previously used, you agree to let them go on using it indefinitely. They do not make use of pop-ups or TOS alerts the way PayPal does or the way another website may do if you fail to login for a long while and need to click an "agree' button for new fees or service terms. DOTEASY does not plainly indicate how you can REMOVE services, not even services associated with a lapsed domain. DOTEASY does not indicate when they respond to support emails that if you wish to cancel the service you must do so in a particular manner otherwise the fees are perpetual, charged to your account whether you have logged in to view your account in the past year or not! DOTEASY does not offer a "remove" option for payments already associated with past domain renewals. If you wish to edit or update the payment at all to get there you have to check a box stating they obtain rights to continue billing it. There is NO opt out. It should not take agreeing to automatic payments simply to modify or remove a payment.

5) DOTEASY has grandfathered some of the original $0 basic hosting services while arbitrarily discontinuing others regardless of whether or not the domain in question has been associated with you for many years and even if that domain has never been developed. DOTEASY does not roll-out TOS changes uniformly, and there are no clear dates or deadlines via email or on a pop-up when you login to "agree" to unsolicited changes. Their emails concerning mandatory hosting changes read like "offers". If you should ignore them, that gives them the right to conclude you have consented.

6) DOTEASY, if you fail to specify a current email, will send all renewal and service notices to a defunct email account. If you make the mistake of asking them to send notifications to an email they host, and that email should be deactivated by technical difficulty (storage limit exceeded due to massive daily spam inflow) or by the fact that you have lost the rights to that domain name, DOTEASY will not use any of the information you entered at signup or for billing purposes to notify you when their notification emails begin to bounce. You MUST maintain an active non-DOTEASY hosted email account on hand and configure each and every email account you have hosted with DOTEASY for an alternate. They won't propagate any alternate information you have provided previously across the entire range of services you may have signed up for. If you don't know about changes to your service because their email doesn't arrive, that's your fault. No refunds. Period.

7) DOTEASY makes renewals for domains and renewal notices for hosting services look superficially similar when they arrive to your specified email account. They will bury notices of term changes in emails that seem, per the subject lines, to be nothing more than annual reminder notices. If you don't read them and respond, that is consent to bill or accept any proposed changes! There is no option to have DOTEASY email TOS and service plan summaries to you on a quarterly or monthly basis. If you make the mistake of logging in to the DOTEASY home page only to do annual registration renewals you will eventually begin to miss important TOS changes and/or fees. DOTEASY will not prompt you, if it has been some time since your last login, to review TOS changes. They do not make use of "opt out" options, only OPT IN. If you need to cancel a service you must do so in writing. There is no a la cart "deactivate" option in your dashboard.

My advice? Do not leave any payment methods on auto-renew and make sure that you read their email notices carefully because they may contain information much different than their subject lines alone imply. Finally, if you have already entered the payment method and wish to avoid any billing surprises later, I urge customers to remove it. And if you can't find an easy way to remove a payment so that it is not on file until it expires for DOTEASY's unlimited access, complain to DOTEASY that removing payment methods, as well as unwanted services, must become a straightforward option that the user can administer without the added requirement of being forced to write in before recurring charges will be stopped.

Doteasy Doteasy's Domain Transfer Process is a Nightmare: My Experience and Review

So, I signed up for two domains with Doteasy and everything was going fine until it was time to renew. They didn't give me the auth code I needed to transfer my domains to another provider. Instead, they told me I had to submit a written application and pay $15 for each domain transfer. I mean, come on, why make it so difficult for customers to leave? It's like they don't care about providing good service or competitive prices to keep their customers happy. Honestly, I'm done with this company and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Doteasy Doteasy Review: Disappointing Customer Service, But Good Deals If You Jump Through Hoops

I gotta say, I'm not too thrilled with Doteasy. I mean, I paid for my domain name and then 30 days later, I come back and see that new sign ups get a FREE domain name and a big discount on hosting. What gives? I thought loyal customers were supposed to get some love too. It's just not good customer service practice, you know?

But hey, I'm not one to just sit around and complain. So I went ahead and got a new domain name just so I could get that sweet hosting discount. I mean, it was only for email accounts anyway, so why not?

Overall, I'm not too impressed with Doteasy's customer service. But I guess if you're willing to jump through a few hoops, you can still get a good deal.

Doteasy Decent Option for Domain Registration: A Review of Doteasy's Services

I recently signed up for Doteasy to register my domain and I have to say, I was a bit surprised by the wait time. I mean, seriously? 24 hours just to know if my domain gets registered? It seems a bit insane to me. I couldn't help but wonder if 1and1.com had bought them out or something.

But despite the wait time, I have to say that once my application was processed, I did receive my Doteasy activation notice as promised. And if there had been any problems with my application details, they would have contacted me at the email address or phone number I provided on my application form.

Overall, I think Doteasy is a decent option for registering a domain. The wait time may be a bit frustrating, but at least they do follow through with their promises.

Doteasy Stay Away from Doteasy: Poor Customer Service and No Refunds Offered

Doteasy is a company that I would not recommend to anyone. They charged me for services that I did not request, and when I brought this to their attention, the manager was less than helpful. In fact, he was downright rude and unprofessional. He told me that they could not issue refunds, which is ridiculous. What kind of company does not offer refunds? This alone should be a red flag for anyone considering doing business with them.

I tried to get my money back twice, but to no avail. It was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I even filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but unfortunately, nothing came of it. It seems that I am not the only one who has been ripped off by this company.

Overall, I would advise anyone to steer clear of Doteasy. They are not a reputable company, and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. If you are looking for a reliable web hosting provider, there are plenty of other options out there. Don't waste your time or money on Doteasy.

Doteasy Terrible Experience with Doteasy: Difficult Domain Transfer and Rip-Off Fees

My experience with Doteasy was absolutely terrible. I wanted to transfer my domain away from them, but it took me three times of asking before they finally unlocked it. They ignored my request and tried to keep me with them, which was really frustrating. But that wasn't even the worst part. They sent me a form that I had to fill out manually and send back to them with my bank details so that they could charge me $15 for the pleasure of leaving. What a rip-off!

I've used a lot of registrars over the years, but I've never had such a difficult time with one before. If you're looking for a cheap and easy option, I recommend NameSilo. But if you want excellent customer service, go with Iwantmyname.com. Don't waste your time with Doteasy.

Doteasy Frustrating Experience with Doteasy: Difficult Domain Registration and Unhelpful Customer Service

Man, let me tell you, my experience with Doteasy was not great. I spent my whole afternoon trying to register a new domain, and let me tell you, it was a struggle. I tried using the chat function to get some help, but the person I talked to, Cissi, was not very nice and didn't really help me out at all.

Finally, after dealing with some glitches on their end, I was able to complete the registration. But let me tell you, it was not easy. One thing they really need to fix is the fact that you can't use a different card than what's shown in the master account. I mean, come on, that's just ridiculous. The only way for me to fix it was to update the master account and start the whole registration process over again.

Overall, I was pretty frustrated with the whole experience. I've used Doteasy in the past and they've been great, but today was just not their day. They really need to step up their game and get their act together.

Doteasy Doteasy Review: Poor Customer Service and Communication

I gotta say, I used to use Doteasy for my hosting and it was pretty smooth sailing. But when I decided to bring all my domains under one roof, I thought I'd try out a different provider. Boy, was that a mistake. See, I needed authorization codes to transfer my domains, but they weren't available through my account. So I had to reach out to customer service. And let me tell you, that was a whole ordeal.

First off, you can only contact them through a webform. No phone number, no email address, just a webform. So I filled it out and waited. And waited. Finally, I got a response, but it wasn't what I needed. They were trying to convince me to stay on as a customer. Look, I appreciate the hustle, but I just needed my authorization codes. So I replied to the email, explaining what I needed. And then I waited some more.

After 19 hours with no response, I was starting to get frustrated. I mean, I paid for this service, I should be able to get the information I need, right? So I decided to use their webform again to request the codes. And now I'm waiting again. It shouldn't be this hard to get in touch with customer service and get the help you need.

Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with Doteasy's customer service. The hosting was fine, but when it came to getting help, it was a real struggle. I wouldn't recommend them if you're looking for a provider with good customer support.

Doteasy Frustrating Experience with Doteasy's Domain Purchase Process

Doteasy is a website that I recently used to purchase a new domain. I must say, I was not impressed with the experience. It was quite frustrating to have to repeatedly enter my address information after already establishing an account. And to make matters worse, the submit button was also labeled as the 'sign-up' button. This was a terrible design choice that made the whole process more confusing than it needed to be.

It seems like Doteasy has two separate systems for account management and purchasing, which is a bit confusing. However, they do merge the two systems when it comes to storing credit card information. This can be both functional and dysfunctional at the same time, depending on how you look at it.

Overall, I wasn't too thrilled with my experience using Doteasy. It was a bit of a turnoff, to be honest. I spent a lot of time today trying to get everything set up and put together for my portfolio, and this experience just added to the stress. But, I do appreciate the fact that I was able to get everything done in the end. So, thank you for that.

Doteasy Frustrating Experience with Doteasy Hosting: Login Issues and Unexpected Costs

I had a bit of a tough time with Doteasy. I had to sign in twice and I couldn't remember which login to use. There were so many options to choose from, but they were all really old. When I finally got to the credit card page, I had to sign in again. It was really frustrating because I was already in the member zone. On top of that, the website was more expensive than I thought it would be based on the monthly rate. The exchange rate between the Canadian and US dollar was also pretty outrageous. I wish I knew more about this because it seems like I'm paying a lot more than I do for MysteryFactory, which is also hosted by Doteasy. Why am I paying more for this new site?

Doteasy Doteasy Review: Shady Tactics and Extortionate Exit Charges - Stay Away!

These guys over at Doteasy do offer a service, but let me tell you, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. They may not straight up take your money and run, but they sure do make it feel like they're trying to empty your pockets by using sneaky tactics and deception.

Trying to get in touch with them can be a real headache. They'll bounce your emails around like a hot potato and make you fill out all sorts of weird forms just to exit their service. And don't even get me started on the exit charges - they're downright extortionate!

I'm not the only one who's had a bad experience with these guys. Others have described their sleazy practices in detail, and it's not pretty. It's a shame that their reputation has taken such a hit, but honestly, it's not surprising.

I have a feeling that they'll keep using these shady tactics until they've milked their customer base for all it's worth. And once they've squeezed every last penny out of their clients, they'll probably just pack up and leave.

So, if you're thinking about using Doteasy, I'd advise you to think twice. There are plenty of other options out there that won't try to trick you out of your hard-earned cash. Stay away from these guys and save yourself the headache.

Doteasy domain registration

I have transferred a domain to Doteasy.com when they ran their $5 special. It turns out, their special was really "special". What they didn't reveal neither in their ad, nor during registration that they suck out every dollar out of you, no matter whether you stay with them, or you don't. They charge a "DOMAIN TRANSFER OUT FEE" of $15 and, unless you pay it, you cannot transfer your domain out, they simply won't unlock it. If you wait until the expiration of registration, they hit you with the next full priced registration fee and will allow you to transfer after 60 days, since you have been re-registered. So, no matter what they force you to pay. They employ lowest-of-the-low bait and switch techniques. I have read lots of complaints that people recorded online on various websites, forums, complaint boards, etc. This one has a good mix of scamming and defrauding unsuspecting customers. DOTEASY.COM should be taken out of business by the Canadian authorities! Period.

Doteasy they charge for the hosting as well

I wasn’t satisfied with the services of www.doteasy.com. I have chosen the plan and it contained free hosting. But these guys took money for the plan and for the hosting as well. I noticed it only 2 months later, when I understood that the price was too large. I called them and asked to return the money, which they took within these months for the hosting. But I unfortunately heard only promises.

Doteasy unauthorized charges/ unethical billing

In November of 2014, this company charged my card without authorization. I cancelled service with them. Thought this was the end of the story. In March of 2015, I realize they have charged my card again for $131.40 USD. I contact them and begin an entire weeks long discussion of back and forth in their message area ( you cannot call these people or email them ) with their obnoxious customer service agents over semantics who tells me I have to submit a form which was never made available to me when I requested cancellation of service in November of 2015 by their customer service rep.It takes tons of back and forth to finally get this form, of which I removed the authorization for them to charge me $15 to give me my money back, which they didn't have authorization to charge me in the first place. They claimed they emailed me for a renewal . However, the email address they were using didn't work, which they knew. They then try to scam me by saying they will issue a refund for the unauthorized charge to my card, but then charge me a $15.00 fee to give me my money back. What a scam. I was credited back my $131.40 and then they turned around and charged me the $15 despite the unauthorized charge int he first place. The ethics of this company is unbelievable. I wish I had known they were in the scamming business when you cancel service with them when I started with DotEasy in 2008. I would never suggest this company to anyone and a quick Google search shows me that I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS BEEN A PART OF THIS SCAM. I will also be filing a complaint with Internic.

Doteasy unethical business practices

PART I

DOTEASY Hosting Experience: Only You Can Prevent Site Outages

When I signed up over 10 years ago DOTEASY had too-good-to-be-true pricing. Basic web hosting was free. I registered several domains but only developed two. At some point in the past three years the two websites I had up and running for over 8 years without a hitch went down, but the outage was not brought to my attention. I discovered the problem by visiting my own websites, and I have no idea if the websites had been down for weeks or months at that point. Unfortunately, I could not get into my FTP to correct either problem. In one case, my website had been hacked to allow adult content, and a warning from my browser indicated shortly thereafter that the site was blocked because of malicious code. In another case, a website I developed went down because DOTEASY apparently went through a migration that impacted the way their hosting servers were configured. My experience in obtaining support for the two different issues, which occurred about six months apart, were worlds apart.

In one case I contacted DOTEASY and my client's website was up two days later. In the other case, the one having to do with the hacking of my own website, DOTEASY refused to help because they said password protection was my responsibility, and that if there was any malicious code on their hosting servers as my browser was warning me, their servers would have rejected the changes. In other words, they were accusing me of making up the threat of malicious code, sure that it warranted no real investigation because there had been no suspicious activity. (Something they asserted but obviously failed to prove.) Regardless, the outcome of that protracted support conversation was that any problems with the site were mine and mine alone to correct. Eventually, instead restoring my website from a backup on the FTP server, I began to see a 403 error with the words "forbidden".

Around that time, DOTEASY FTP servers became incompatible with the version of CS3 Dreamweaver I was using for FTP access and when I told them that I couldn't access the FTP server to restore my website they offered no alternative suggestions. I had to upgrade my computer AND my software to fix the problem. When I finally got into my own FTP folder I found my website was fully intact but with the addition of HTaccess files that I had to delete before my website content came back up. Apparently, it was just easier for DOTEASY to insert access denials into my FTP folder than to restore my site after the security breach. DOTEASY cleaned out the adult content I initially saw there but they didn't take the extra step of resetting the content to enable my website to come back up.

For the better part of three years my site was down in the interim! Unfortunately, the hosting problems don't end there. Three months ago, my client site went down with a "not found" error. I found the files for the website fully intact but they had been put into the wrong directories. Mind you, this site had been working correctly for over 10 years without a hitch, and had not been updated by myself in any way before it went down (to suggest I had anything to do with it). Still went down due to a misconfiguration not of my own doing. Once again, DOTEASY did not provide a courtesy notification of any outages or server updates that might have necessitated that I revalidate the operability of my website. The upshot is, if you host with DOTEASY prepare to visit your own website every single day. Don't assume it's online just because it's been there for years. Without warning it can go down and it will stay that way without any notification on DOTEASY's part of the client.

So far I've touched on the hosting problems but there are other more serious and potentially unethical business practices going on at DOTEASY.

PART II

Unethical Business Practices

In the early days of DOTEASY there was no auto-renew option for website domains, let alone website hosting services. If you had an outdated email on file your domain registration notices were no-shows and DOTEASY as I recall in the early 2000s did not offer an alternate email contact option. In 2011 I lost one of my non-developed domains because I had not set it to auto-renew and/or did not have a current payment method on file. The domain I lost, just like all the rest of my DOTEASY-hosted domains, had been launched under their $0 basic host plan years prior. When I paid what I thought was a domain renewal fee in 2011, what I actually did without appreciating as much was to convert to a fee-based hosting service that DOTEASY had initiated as a "mandatory" change — for a website that had not yet been developed!

Doteasy will generate an invoice but invoices are only viewable if you login to your account via the DOTEASY homepage. I typically logged into FTP and email pertaining to my domains, not the DOTEASY home page. Early on, DOTEASY did not require users to specify much in the way of alternate contact information, so if your email was no longer good they'd continue to notify you at an account that was bouncing. Failure of a customer to acknowledge a TOS notice or change of hosting plan, however, does not stop DOTEASY from implementing changes that may cause a no-cost host option to convert to a fee-based hosting service.

I was told by DOTEASY support in early 2012 that I was no longer the registered owner of the domain in question and I couldn't get a refund on already-paid-for hosting fees. Okay, fine. But what they didn't tell me is that they would continue to charge me hosting fees year after year, which they have done to the present day even though I have no legal access to the domain. Without any further renewal notices associated with that lapsed domain, I made no attempt to login because logically it would seem there can be no services on a domain one does not have ownership rights to. DOTEASY will nonetheless use a patronizing tone if you should question why you are being billed for services on a domain for which you have no legal rights of development.

During the time I was charged hosting fees, my remaining domains stayed with the original $0 basic hosting plan. There was no explanation from DOTEASY why one domain had to undergo a mandatory shift from $0 basic hosting to another "basic host" plan with an annual "monthly" fee. I am, with this lone exception, on grandfathered $0 basic hosting plans to this day! I feel it is intentionally misleading to allow some no-cost basic host plans to remain in effect in some cases but not in others, and not even with any rhyme or reason pertaining to whether or not a website has been developed and uploaded yet! In one case I even had a basic $0 hosting plan bumped to a fee-based service for "mandatory" reasons only to be given a "mandatory" downconversion to the $0 basic hosting some time later, all without any contact on my part concerning those changes! If DOTEASY is going to claim they can't or won't offer the $0 basic hosting option anymore, as was the case recently when one of my undeveloped domains came up for renewal, the least one might expect is to see all similarly situated or "grandfathered" accounts treated equally. They're not, and that adds to the confusion of trying to predict what's what in terms of billing and services connected to these accounts. The more domains you register and host with DOTEASY the more arbitrary it begins to feel, and unless you login to the DOTEASY website every week to check you may very well find that you are paying for service changes you did not initiate.

I logged into DOTEASY every year on a domain-by-domain basis to renew the registration and I never once saw a reference to hosting fees associated with the defunct domain I lost back in 2011 — until 2015! In my experience if you receive an email reminder from DOTEASY concerning a website domain expiration, it is possible to click "renew" and it will go straight to the payment upon login. There is another spot for Group Manager, for those who register more than one domain, and there you are expected to create a separate login and a master payment method. Only there do you see a summary of all domains you own or still have services on. If you make the mistake of renewing on a domain-by-domain basis using a DOTEASY email link without logging into the Group Manager you may not appreciate that you are paying renewal fees on defunct web domains.

The way DOTEASY is set up if you wish to authorize an auto-renewal of your web domain you are not just consenting to renew the domain registration once per year but also any services that have been attached to it — and those services will have entirely different annual billing dates! For the many DOTEASY consumers who have been on $0 basic web hosting, it may not be expected to check for additional service fees unless one were aware that basic hosting services are no longer free of charge. After trying to figure out why I so often feel blindsided, I realized that the miscommunications are facilitated, in part, by the fact that DOTEASY will send out an email with a title that reads like it is time to renew one's domain when, in fact, the actual content of the message may go on to refer to changes of fees or terms, too. DOTEASY communications could do a much better job separating out their subjects and titles so that it is possible for their customers to appreciate even before they open the email what the nature or the urgency level of the notice really is. Unfortunately, DOTEASY doesn't make EASY what ought to be obvious.

Complicating matters further, DOTEASY appears to access any payment method on file even if the page you have logged into is configured to appear as if you are only entering payment for one particular web domain. I know this only because, having lost the domain registration rights to a domain in 2011, I never logged in to authorize or update a payment method connected to that domain. To this day, in fact, I have not set up a so-called master payment method to cover all my accounts hosted by DOTEASY. The only way DOTEASY could have billed me to host a domain years after I lost it, without any updates to the payment method in the interim, was to BORROW my most recently used payment method for the purpose of sharing that payment between domains and services!

I am only now beginning to appreciate that DOTEASY is phasing out their no-cost basic hosting in favor of a fee-only business model. In view of the borderline service and limited support options, DOTEASY is no longer a good value. Of even more concern, DOTEASY would appear to be operating on the outer edges of legality. That is because failure to respond to an email notice constitutes YOUR consent for DOTEASY to impose and thereafter bill for ALL subsequent services even if they, not you, initiated the service or rate changes.

SUMMARY:

1) DOTEASY can and will change terms and fees without making clear how long the customer has to respond to or opt out of the proposed change.

2) DOTEASY will display hosting plans and invoices if you login to your domain management account, but there is no option to receive a quarterly or monthly summary of activity via email.

3) Under the DOTEASY Group Manager there is no readily-apparent means to totally remove a payment method associated with an individual domain or to decline future hosting services on an domain you no longer intend to host and/or register with them.

4) DOTEASY does not prompt users who have failed to login for a period of time to review TOS changes that may have occurred since the customer's last known login.

5) If for some reason you need to make an update to a payment method, you will not be allowed to do so without checking a box giving DOTEASY the ability to use that payment method in perpetuity. In other words, DOTEASY provides an "opt in" but no identifiable "opt out".

CLOSING

Buyer Beware

If you choose to host your website on DOTEASY my suggestion is this: Do not configure auto-billing, do not save a payment method and do not make the mistake of receiving notifications for your domain at a domain-generated email account hosted by DOTEASY. Why? Because if you lose your domain registration rights, DOTEASY will continue to email notices pertaining to "orphaned" services to a non-functioning email account that you cannot access. Even if such contact efforts fail, DOTEASY will not send you a letter or phone you, even if you have provided additional contact information at signup or as part of your billing setup. Furthermore, unless you configure an alternate email address for each and every email account you have ever created in connection with a DOTEASY-hosted domain, you may very well continue to miss important notices.

For the above reasons I cannot recommend DOTEASY.

Doteasy they started to charge me for some fake services

I started to use the website www.doteasy.com about a year ago. At the beginning, it was ok, but later these jerks started to charge me for bogus services and the sum, which they took from me, was larger and larger. I tried to reach them, but online char agents were unavailable all the time. I sent them emails, but they didn’t reply. No idea how to stop these fraudulent charges. The worst company ever, so avoid these ### and post comments about your experience with them.

Doteasy unauthorized billing

I have to agree with all the reviews regarding unauthorized charges to credit cards. I am guardian for a lady with dimensia. Over a year ago, I paid her Doteasy account with my credit card and now I have received an unauthorized charge on my card, which I have now cancelled to prevent further abuses by Doteasy. I sent Doteasy an email and have received no response. DO NOT GIVE DOTEASY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!

I'm having issues with Doteasy refusing to release my domain name for transfer to another registrar and host. I logged in and got the authorization code & initiated a transfer of my domain before it expired. I got a notice from the new registrar that the transfer was successful, followed a few minutes later by a message saying the transfer failed due to a lock status. I messaged Doteasy about the domain lock, but they did not reply until after my domain expired. I clearly checked the lock status of my domain when I was getting the authorization code and it showed to be unlocked. After the transfer failed I checked again and it showed to be locked. Doteasy refuses to unlock it now unless I pay their "domain release fee" which is the same dollar amount as renewing and hosting for another year. I've already paid for another registrar & host and do not want to do business with Doteasy any longer. Repeated messages to support & a phone call have failed to resolve this issue.

Doteasy poor customer service

Like so many of the other negative reviews on this site and others I can confirm the bad business practices of Doteasy. I have had three different domains hosted with them in the past few years.

One of these I cancelled over a year ago and was recently billed for hosting on it anyway. I requested a refund, was given a runaround (including the demand that I fax a copy of my credit card to them), and eventually had to contact my credit card company to dispute the charge.

The other two accounts I am attempting to move to a different hosting service. One of these appears to be moving along as expected. The other was locked (without my authorization) and they are giving me a hard time about making the transfer. Again they are demanding a fax copy of my credit card. After some back and forth they said that it was okay to black out most of the number and the security code. I decided to just go ahead and do that. I have sent very legible copies to them twice now, and they claim that what they receive is too dark to read.

I'm not sure how this will ultimately resolve. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Stay away!

Doteasy scam+ fraud

Doteasy engages in illegal billing and business practices. They will charge your cancelled account without consent. They do not follow Icann policies be warned. I worked there, and I was Disgusted at how I had to lie to customers and basically make excuses on why we cannot transfer their domain name.

If a customer changes their contact information on the domain, they cannot transfer the domain away from Doteasy until after 60 days. So basically, you are Forced to renew with Doteasy. If you want to transfer your domain name before expiry, they will keep the ball rolling until it expires, and then tell you it has expired, so you cant transfer it and you are required to renew, which is a 60 day lock.

If you attempt to dispute charges via your bank. They Will charge you a hosting chargeback fee.

DO NOT HAVE ANY BUSINESS TO DO WITH DOTEASY. Oh and once your domain name is expired, if you are on their FREE plan after 40 days they will start to bill you $1.95 / month for webhosting without your permission.

They will judge you based on your level of English, the country you are from, and many more factors and your gender. They will put notes all over your account not to do business with you if you ask too many questions or ask for help at all. They will note you as a troublemaker and basically hang up the phone on your or ignore your emails for help.

There servers are not secure, like any "shared hosting" company, you cannot rely on them. You will get hacked into if one site gets compromised. Their managers and supervisors will laugh in your face and ignore your request to speak to them.

They also do not care about BBB ratings or ICANN, they are not scared of them. They will find any way to screw you over for your money and take away your business.

Dont even try to register a domain name that's even close to popular, you register your name, and happen to be a celebrity or a major corporation they will take your domain for you and take ownership on it and make you pay quite a large sum of money to get it back, basically kidnapping your domain and your business until you pay the ransom.

They also hide under different aliases of companies. Just do your research.

Also, if you purchase a domain name on a promotion, you are not entitled to transfer domain services. You have to pay a substantial cost to get your domain name away from them.

Trust it from an employee. Do NOT do business with them. Go to GoDaddy or HostGator who will treat you like royalty.

Read their terms and conditions word by word before you sign any contracts with them.

To all who are dissatisfied with DOTEASY'S practices. FILE complaints with ICANN and BBB. It's the only way to get something done about these robbers! I would give negative stars if I could. If you are looking for a decent Domain Registrar that won't charge your credit card without your authorization, will unlock your domains when requested for transfer, won't make you jump through hoops because they are vindictive. DO NOT use DOTEASY! There are thieves locked up in the prison system who are more honest. Take my word for it or not. If not I wish you luck and keep an eye on any credit or debit card statement you use with them. CHA CHING!

Doteasy hosting service

Signed up for services in September and began implementing in November.
Once My website become active things suddenly stopped working. After many hours of investigation, I submitted a support request to DotEasy. They responded by informing me my script couldn't release resources and was causing trouble for the server. I checked my code for an extended period of time and could not find any errors or reasons why resources were not released.
After many days and attempts by Dot Easy support to sell "partner" services and hourly dubugging services I figured out there was NO problem with my script. DotEasy was simply not capable of providing shared hosting services.
When they would not enable my website I requested a refund. They refused.
If you are seeking hosting services look elsewhere. There are many other better and more reliable alternatives available.
