DoYouSpain Car Hire
We reserved a car in Gandia Spain, specifically asking for an automatic, we arrived at Enterprise and they said, "oh, we don't have any automatic cars, we will call you later today or tomorrow when we have one" They never got back to us and have a phone line that goes directly to a full voicemail box.DoYouSpain says all they can do is send an email to Enterprise but they have not responded. TWO WEEKS and no response, no refund and no car, but of course they hand no problem charging my credit card over €500
Desired outcome: Full Refund TODAY
Car rental
We arrived at Santiago de Compostela, we went with ok mobility to collect the car which I had prepaid 300 euro for. We were told we needed a credit card. I did not have the physical card. I called dys help desk many times and said there is no help they can provide. We received no car and left my elderly parents waiting for hours. I want a full refund. I am filing a police report also
Desired outcome: Full refund
Car hire
They give you a price online for a car you chose, ask if you want premium insurance to cover everthing so you book all of this then then when you collect your car at your destination airport it's like that booking never happened and all you have is communication set up. You don't get that car, you're told bascially nothing has been paid for and then have to pay more. I paid £150 initially then got stung another £350 at the airport! Disgusting, avoid at all costs!
Desired outcome: Full refund from Doyouspain and goldcar.

Never booking doyouspain again
Me and my pregnant partner and her daughter had booked a car with you 10-24/7 at bilbao airport. We were supposed to pick up the car at 23.30 on 10/7 but we got problem with our plane due to a car accident. We booked a new plane that would be in bilbao the day after about 11.45, we talked to you but got no help. When we got to the airport our reservation was gone, how could that be? a few hours later when we would still have the car we paid for. How can you be so unhelpful when we want to collect the car a little later? when we are already sorry for problem with the plane. Your answer is that your system removes the bookings at midnight. But why couldn't you help us when we called you several times? now we don't have a car. I want to urge EVERYONE to NEVER book a car via doyouspain.com, but only with serious companies. It is embarrassing that they are allowed to exist. I hope we get the money back or that they call us and offer us a car.

Car hire
Through no fault of our own we lost our booking.
We had a hire car booked in Tenerife South for collection on the 22nd October around 1pm. In order to get there we had connecting flights through Lisbon however because of a software update in Portugal our flight was delayed and we missed the connecting flight. As there were no more flights we needed to source alternatives which took us to Tenerife North (south was impossible) but it was a late arrival. Ok, that's the back story.
On the 22nd we kept trying to call DoYouSpain to explain what had happened but the phone just rings and rings and rings, nobody ever answers. I sent an email to DoYouSpain but to this day nobody has replied. I got the "somebody will contact you shortly" email but nothing since and yes, I have checked my junk.
We arrived very late into Tenerife North and had to get a taxi to where we were staying, far too late to go to the South airport for the car as I'm sure the office would be closed. So, the next day I set off on the bus to get the car from the other airport...
When I got there, there was another family in front of me having issues with the rental company, however their plight sounded very similar to my own. They also had hired a car through DoYouSpain but had missed the collection due to delayed flights but the hire car company refused to honour the booking so I was not looking forward to talking to them.
The hire car company did not care, they simply kept telling me that the booking was now cancelled because I'd not arrived on time and there was no chance of a refund, my only option was to hire another car with them. When I said I've booked a car for 7 days, why does collecting my car on day 2 make a problem, i've hired it for 7 days?!?!? I was just told to take it up with DoYouSpain as it's "not our problem"
So I again tried to call DoYouSpain and yes, you've guessed it, nobody answered the phone using the number the hire car company gave me which was a different number.
This company is simply a scam job, they'll take your money and just disappear. Trust me, do not use them, they may come up cheap and you're thinking you have a bargain, but any slight hitch and you've lost your money and your car.
In the end I hired another car through a different company, so I've had to pay for 2 cars to just drive one of them.
I'm sure i'll get some reply about reading "terms and conditions" but this just garbage as I didn't miss the booking because of any fault of my own as funnily enough I can't control Lisbon airspace. Sometimes companies can't hide behind corporate garbage, they should have contingencies in place through "no fault" missed bookings.
Greedy cowboys!
Desired outcome: A refund
Rental car
Our problem with DoyouSpain started right at the beginning. When we picked up our rental car, we were told that the credit card with which we payed the booking was not accepted for the deposit by the service guy. We offered to pay in cash, with another credit card or even just book the amount right from the bank account. No. We were told the only solution is to pay 252€ more or we won’t get a car. So we payed but mentioned we will file a complaint, which we did. After numerous (at least 20) mails and around 2 months we are still waiting on any help, solution or even reaction from DoyouSpain. Never ever!
Desired outcome: We want 252€ back
Overcharged and no attempt to repsond to my complaints
I hired a car through Doyouspain in October 2021 from Alicante Airport. When we arrived at the Firefly desk they would not release the car without charging me a further E155 for the fuel policy. We have never been refunded this amount despite returning the car full.
I have tried numerous tomes to speak to doyouspain but we never get further than the hold music in a queue. I have sent three complaint emails now, received an acknowledgement that they will be in touch but never had a further response.
Booking ref was DYS-[protected]
Desired outcome: Refund of the amount charged by Firefly at the counter of 155 Euros
Shocking service from doyouspain
Shocking service from doyouspain Booked via their site for a car in Malaga with WIFI CAR RENT A CAR. Airport pick up was 1hr 20mins after we arrived & then we were left at their locked office on a trading estate 20 mins from the airport. We got an uber & abandoned the hire car! Doyouspain have absolved themselves from helping get a refund despite having received complaints about WIFI CAR RENT A CAR as far back as 2018.
car hire
Absolutely disgusted by this company, stay away or get ripped off
Absolutely disgusted by this company.
I hired a car online and paid for it. When I got to murcia goldcar depot I was told that no payment had been made. I showed the member of staff my doyouspain voucher but their system showed no payment. I had to pay 3 x more for the vehicle. I contacted doyouspain when I got back and they have refused to accept my argument for a refund of the payment I made at murcia.
Stay away or you could possibly get ripped off like I did.
car rental - duplicate payment
We paid CAD$89.63 for car rental booking # ES476030350.
When we arrived at the counter in Malaga the woman said we had to take an alternate arrangement and charged us Euros 311.54 for car and insurance. She would not credit us the original CAD$89.63.
We understand the insurance cost is ours to pay but we expect a refund of the car payment. We did not request an upgrade. The woman we spoke with had poor English and we had trouble communicating with her to understand her problem with the original booking.
We can send you a copy of the Euro 311.54 bill.
Thank you

overcharged & bad customer service
This is complaint letter I have sent 10 times now to DoYouSpain of which I have not had a satisfactory response to, what can you do about this for us pls?
‘I am writing in response to what appears to be an automotive reply you sent me following on from my previous email. I would appreciate if someone could look further into my complaint as I feel we should be entitled to a refund for the extra insurance we have been pushed into purchasing upon arrival to Murcia airport. Also I would like to know what action is being taken as the company who distributed the first car to us attempted to send us away in a un-road worthy car which the service had expired on and which also displayed a warning message to say the tyres needed air and to be re-set.
When booking the vehicle through DoYouSpain we paid for Premium Insurance (55.60 euros) and as stated on the attached (Point 1) it states ‘remember that you don't need to take out any additional insurance offered by the car rental operator at the local office as you're already fully covered ‘. It also states that we will be required to leave a deposit of 1400.00 euros when we collect the car which will be refunded upon return.
When we arrived at GOLDCAR the computers were down and we had to wait until systems were back up and running, we showed our booking info (as attached) and was told we needed to purchase insurance as what we had was not sufficient, we spent quite some time disagreeing with this and said we wanted to pay the 1400 euros refundable deposit on my partners credit card of which we were told that we could not do this and had to take out the extra insurance. Other extras were added on and nothing was explained properly, the person we dealt with couldn't speak very good English and was just trying to push us into purchasing the insurance as quickly as possible. We said we didn't want the car hire if we had to pay the extra extortionate amount they were asking for and wanted to cancel everything as we felt we were being totally ripped off, we were told we couldn't do this.
My Partner ended up paying £361.65 euros (£338.82) on top of what we had already paid which in our opinion was absolutely ridiculous! The total we paid out was £520.67!
We went out to the car and when we got in and switched the engine on a red warning came up saying that the service was required as it had expired and the tyres needed air and re-setting. The time was now around midnight and with two children this was all becoming a very stressful situation. We unloaded our luggage we had already put in the car and returned to the office as we we're disgusted that further to the overcharging on insurance they had now tried to send us away with a car that was not road worthy! We asked again for a refund as we did not now want to drive away in a car that may not even be safe, we were denied a refund and after more complaining and saying we would not leave until we had a refund they then said they would give us an upgrade on another car, we felt we had no choice but to accept this even though we didn't want to as it was now very late and we were being denied a refund, we had very tired children who needed to get to bed as we had been travelling all day and it was extremely stressful.
We were all really upset with having to cope with this at the start of the holiday and for the rest of the holiday we were not able to do with the children what we had hoped to as we could not now afford it, in fact it put a complete damper on the holiday as we had very disappointed children who were looking forward to doing certain activities but now couldn't as the money had been spent on the extra insurance. We are both absolutely disgusted with the way we were treated by the car rental company and feel we were totally tricked into paying the extra car insurance and had no other option but to pay this at the time.
When we were asking questions to the car rental lady who dealt with us she couldn't really understand what we were saying or possibly intentionally pretending that she couldn't, and she tried her hardest to rush telling us things and not explaining things properly of which we suspect this was intentional so we couldn't really understand ourselves what she was selling us.
The outcome we are asking for is our £361.65 to be refunded, if this is not offered then I will be taking this further. I would also be interested to know why cars are not checked to be road worthy before customers take them as this is a very concerning matter which makes myself and would also make others reconsider taking car hire out through yourselves and GOLDSTAR in the future. If fact if this matter is not addressed and not resolved then I feel other customers and authorities should be aware as it could potentially put people like ourselves in danger should we have taken the un-road worthy car in the first instance? Also the issue needs to be addressed that we experienced upon arrival with regards to being wrongly sold extra car insurance as I am sure we are not the first and won't be the last that this happens to.
I would appreciate a response to this as soon as possible either in writing or by phone call on [protected].
Many thanks
Louise Cole & Steven Johnson'
car hire
I hired a car from do you Spain to pick a car up at Alicante airport and took out there top insurance policy for peace of mind when we arrived a month a mini bus took us to an industrial estate and ok rent a car was there
The girl said we had no insurance and asked if we wanted to take there insurance and I showed her the insurance I had taken out with do you Spain and she said that they didn't recognise this insurance and that if we went with do you Spain's insurance and we had an accident we could get into trouble and that she would block £1200 on our credit card to cover them and she showed me a price list for minor damage and the cheapest thing on the piece of paper was £250 for a stone chip we asked to get taken back to the airport and took out a car with record go car hire and didn't have a problem with them
I book car by mistake i put earlier than i arrive. So i come no car, boking cancel because i am late for few hours, money of course they charge ( 2 weeks rent ) . If you try to call 2 hours good luck . Proper scams, with kids end up with no transport in the evening. They said sorry you late we give car other people, no refund ! how this can exist?
ok rent a car, palma, mallorca
Hire dates 16th - 19th June 2017. I booked an Audi A1, and paid for both the rental and the damage wavier insurance through doyouspain.com. I was collected by the OK Rent a Car minibus from Palma airport and taken to their off airport office. After a long wait in a very busy office I was offered a special offer upgrade to a Range Rover Evoque for €25, which seemed like a good deal so I decided to go for it. I also had to pay a €200 deposit for fuel, and was told that if I return the car full then I wouldn't have to pay any of their extortionate refuelling charges.
So I returned the car full of fuel, and was told by the man inspecting the cars that I would receive my €200 refund within a few days.
On checking my bank account they have only refunded £59.64 out of the £199.04 that they took from my card which included the €25 upgrade. So with the conversion rates they still owe me €133.
I called their customer service number, where the operator first said that the upgrade was €45 (I would not have paid this much, and their figures don't add up anyway). She then changed her story to say that it was €75 for the upgrade (which still didn't add up). When I argued this she put me on hold for ages.
So I called their Palma airport office, where the man I spoke to started saying that I was supposed to return the vehicle empty of fuel, which is in complete contrast to what I was told by his colleague. When I argued this he hung up.
NOT OK rent a car
AVOID AT ALL COST! I've used OK car rental (by Atlaschoice) on both islands, Mallorca and Menorca. So called airport office at Palma de Mallorca, rental period from 13th of June to 19th of June 2016, 600 EUR excess deposit. I didn't want to take their extra insurance (15 EUR per day). Very bad experience, hidden charges (Service fee) previously not stated on contract (Atlaschoice). Rip-off at the returning of the car where they immediately "find" "damage" which was done by previous rental. The damage was actually small bent on the roof of the car made by heavy (ice) rain (in my rental period it didn't rain at all) repairing which cost 50 EUR. They've stolen 280 EUR from my credit card for what they noted "medium damage". They didn't proof by anything the damage was done by me, the worker at drop off just mentioned the documentation is confidential when I insisted to see it, so no proof whatsoever. Previous costumers explaining the same criminal approach. They all indicate the same problem-they charged them major amounts of money for minor damages which were previously made. By all information now gathered, I presume that they charge several costumers for the same damages!
I am still waiting for fuel refund for the rental period from 19th June to 2th of July, same company at Menorca. So better avoid this "NOT OK" company at all cost!
Miss sold
We booked car hire from Do You Spain, to collect from RECORD car rental at Palma airport. It cost less than 25 euros so it seemed a bargain. I emailed Do You Spain to ask if there were any monies up front or deposits on collection. Do You Spain sent me an email saying there was only the fuel costs. I then got an automated email from Do You Spain saying that...

I rented a car at www.DoYouSpain.com web site. They redirected me to "OK Rent a Car" rental company in Ibiza.
The "OK Rent a Car" office is located about 10mins from the airport in an industrial area hard to return to. On picked up the Peugeout 206 was with dirt blotches on the doors outside.
On return they inspected the car with a check list and I was informed of a new two cm scratch on the bumper back. I refuted responsibility for the damage but I was told I would have to pay the excess of 90 euro. Although I refused to pay a 90 euro was deducted from my VISA credit card I had given at the commencement of hire without my allowance.
They also rejected to take me to the airport although it was set in the contract, and I had to take a taxi, and I almost lost my flight !
Finally to mention that the contract said that as I had rented the car for more than 3 days, I was forced to pay for a FULL tank of diesel petrol (Peugeout 206 has 50 liters tank) costing me nearly 100 euro!
Please change your rental supplier to avoid a seriously bad experience !
31 customers in front of. Me. 3 of 7 desks are open. We have to wait about 1.45 hrs. I gues. Better post reviews on the doyouspain.com website or let us know which company we will send to before making a reservation.
Don't chose ok rent a car unless you want to get ripped off badly
1. Charged extra 45 euro for more insurance, otherwise they will charge you 600 incase anything happens.
2. Pre filled gas tank( I've read on the Internet it's a common scam amongst car hire companies around here) impossible to spend, given the vehicle was extremely fuel efficient. I returned the car with 80% gas in tank.
4. Odd hour drop off is extra 45 euro.
5. If you get a ticket, parking or speeding, they will also charge you 45 euro for that as a cherry on top of your unfortunate incident.
6. Checked my documents. There was no receipt for the extra insurance coverage I paid for.
It was suppose to cost me 93 euros but after they milked me dry it was more like 300 euros. These people should be hanged for capitalizing on tourists who don't know any better.
Unfortunately our flight was delayed and we arrived at 02.00 instead of 23.40. We waited at the parking in order to be picked-up by the shuttle bus for 40 minutes. Then we took a taxi to the rental place were there was only one person to attend the waiting clients. There were 4 clients before us and we had to wait until 4:40 until it was our turn. We left the place at 5:00.
When we asked for the manual of the car we received the replay that there are no manuals available. The windshild was very dirty and there was no liquid in the container to wash the glass.
The return of the car was correct and without any incident. Although I must mention that nowhere else we were deducted 24 Euros for the gasoline even one returns the car with full tank (I know it is in the contract and we were made aware of it).
Definitely this company needs to be avoided.
Absolutely agree with this and all the other adverse reports
Just returned from Majorca and I'm not exaggerating when I say that the experience with OK Car Rentals was like a black cloud over the trip
The landlady of my accommodation was appalled and intends to disrecommend this company to all her customers
Unfortunately I booked with 'Holiday Autos' and was not happy to find they were using this company, especially as I'd selected 'airport pick up / drop off' on their website. The OK'office is offsite, on an obscure industrial estate
Fortunately, due to the ridiculously long queue in their rental office, I used my iPhone to read some old reviews on Trip Adviser threads, warning me about their practices...
Oh and by the way, you can 'jump the queue' for another 10 euros, I was so fed up I probably would have but this 'offer' came after an hour and 15mins when I was already next in the queue anyway
They also advised me that if I wanted to return the car even one minute earlier than prearranged, I would have to pay 39 euros more for the inconvenience
On pick-up, I had to locate a shuttle bus, bizarrely situated in the departures section of the airport, then hang about whilst other potential victims boarded, to be driven to an obscure industrial estate.
Next I waited 90mins in their office without air-conditioning, to be told either I took out additional insurance with OK Car Rentals or they would take 600 euros from my credit card, in case of any damage - examples of marks on the seats, scratches, stone chips, etc were quoted. Surely such things would normally be considered fair wear and tear for a rental car?! Not according to 'OK'
Had already paid upfront for 'Alliance' insurance via Holiday Autos which is supposed to cover all the above, but no, OK assured me that my alliance insurance was purely intended for road traffic accidents involving other vehicles
Didn't want them to scam 600 euros from my card, so I reluctantly paid 88 euro, for their lowest insurance ('metalwork only'), the staff tried to sell me another 30 euros worth to cover wheels, tires and glass, but I declined
On collecting the car, they handed me a document supposedly marking off any damage, but later I spotted a mark on one of the alloys, NOT marked on their document (no surprise, I guess, having read so many reviews regarding the extortion which is rife at 'OK Car Rentals'
Decided to cancel my credit card BEFORE returning the car this morning, as I realised they were already intending to try and rob me for the miniscule, pre-existing wheel scuff.
I literally threw the keys on the desk and walked away, having dragged my unfortunate holiday cottage landlady out of bed to take me from the OK rental office to the airport, thus side-stepping hassle with the awful staff and to avoid missing my flight whilst faffing about waiting for their s l o w shuttle bus service
'OK Car Rentals' are anything but OK, in fact they are a nightmare company, who have been systematically stealing from their unfortunate clients for at least the past 3 years, from what I've been reading on the web
Shame on Holiday Autos and any other broker for using 'OK Car Rentals'
This company is an absolute disgrace and an embarrassment to Majorca Doing the already shaky Spanish tourism industry no favors whatsoever
Worst rent a car company in the world. It is actually a scam, not a rental company. No matter what you do, how careful you are with the car and how much patience you have, rent a car with these guys and you will regret it. It will cost you way more than you thought (and that is GUARANTEED) and you will have to argue with some really rude people and choose between standing your ground or missing your flight. In my experience I'd much rather deal with Kenyan corrupt policemen or Colombian guerrillas, OK Car is a mafia. AVOID unless you want to ruin your holidays!
Upon arriving in Palma the van was waiting to transport us from the airport to the car hire office... which was good. Then, at the office, the queue was so long we had to wait ages to be dealt with. I went though Holiday Autos and did not realise they use OK Rent a Car. There were a lot of extra costs beyond what I was quoted in my internet booking and the insurance I paid for did not cover me for anything. The car was nice (Fiat Punto). We were told by the sales assistant that the office closes at 9pm so to return the car by 8pm at the end of the holiday, even though in the booking it said to be hired from 10am - 10am. So we returned it at 6pm and had to pay for an extra day (about €10) plus €60 penalty notice! That was as much as the car hire for the entire week. The guy checking the car back in was exceptionally rude. We were told (by the nice sales assistant David) to contact customers services when we returned to the UK. He said this kind of thing happens a lot and they will refund me as I was misinformed. Over a week later I have not received a response. For 7 days in Mallorca the car has cost me over €200! There seemed to be a lot of unhappy customers in the office.
RIP OFF Doyouspain
You have a voucher stating in black and white the cost, when you collect the car there is extra insurance on (extra 110 Euros in my case) you complain the next day they take several weeks to tell you your OPTIONAL insurance which I did not take and was certainly not given an option to take or refuse is being charged - tough luck. You have been warned
