eHarmony incorrectly took payment 3 days before subscription expired

I signed up with eHarmony for 6 months. When signed up, chose NOT toautomatically renew.

Account due to expire 14th July but when I went on 11th July, realised they'd already taken further 6 month payment.

I contacted them and the just told me to read their terms and conditions. This states that they can renew up to 24 hours before due to expire - but this doesn't excuse taking payment £107 3 days before due.

They have since just ignored my e-mails. It seems very clear to me taht they have made a mistake - so why are they not refunding my money? very disappointing from an otherwise great website.

eHarmony autorenew

Eharmony is a total rip off, they tell you they auto renew for the same amount of time you initially signed up for on the site. They tell you there is no way to turn off the auto renew, that you have to call and cancel. They only tell you you can turn off the auto renew until AFTER they auto renew your membership for another 6 months. We need a lawsuit against this. It's totally unfair that even after you call to cancel they will not refund you the amount of time you have let on the membership. How do they stay in business, they are criminals.

I want to put them out of business! What they are doing to the single people in USA is nothing more then robbing each one of us under the name of scam that they go under as a dating service. First, they get some smart lawyer to write-up this form letter in which he knows none of us will understand until it is too late. Now the ones working for eHarmony has the job to point out to us now we are suppose to feel upset that is there game plan. Yes, if enough of us challenge there business practice we would take this so call dating service where it belongs, how they disrespected us and tried to take advantage of our situation and all of us are fighting back! Let us take them to court together!

Totally agree. I was just charged for a additional six months. I KNOW I turned off the auto- renewal when I signed up...how? Because a while back I signed up for a subscription, same thing happened, but back then it was my fault because I didn't turn it off and I soon found out. So this time, it was one of the first things I did. After a conversation with a absolutely useless customer service, I was told MAYBE I could get refunded if I met someone? Are you f@&king kidding me!
Stay away, they took my money, but I can take potential customer from them, they will lose far more money that way.

eHarmony internet dating scam

Is Eharmony.Com internet dating site a scam.My experieces being a member on eharmony it seems they scam people with matchs that is not base on your personality profile questions you sign up.You are given matchs out side of your distance area you didn't request for.You get responds from people with emails are ice breakers who appears to be your matchs but no know longer hears back from them out of six are ten matchs.How is that doing your subscription you recieve matchs on a daily base's these matchs suppose to be base on personality profile match responds to you and someone who is serious are interested in getting to know you when they respond to you''you don't hear from them.I recieve alot of matchs with no photos and when I request and asked for a photo''no respond''.My credit card was being charge money with services I didn't recieve.

This web-site is a rip-off - eHarmony is the most awful web-site in the world They do not stand behind the claim for a free review of your matchs. They hose you into becoming a member and when you want to cancel they give you the run-around eatrting up time so you're stuck with an account that is useless. I would recumnebd a site like Match.com instead. they are amicable. eHarmony or should I say "eHa-Money". is by far the worst web-site I have ever in my life encountered. STAY AWAY FROM IT, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME NOR MONEY.They are no Good for you.

eharmony.com is a complete waste of time and money. When I was just looking I had "tons" of matches. Once I became a paying member, I was lucky if I got a match once a month. I paid for 6 months because it was a better price. I contacted customer service several times and they kept telling me to change my settings. Sorry but I don't want to date someone 5 hours away. It isn't practical. Bottom line - don't waste your money. You may have better results if you are younger and in a large city. If you are over 40 don't waste your time. Customer service is not of any service and there is no guarantee if you aren't happy.

I spent ages doing their personality tests (which I feel are excessively long) then after I had completed this, they said that they couldn’t find a suitable match for me, on a global scale! I don’t rate any dating website that can’t find a single match for one person! My friend also signed up, and she is an avid animal lover, which she mentioned in her sign up testing. E-harmony then matched her with a couple of deer hunters in Texas. Overall, not great!

E.harmony.com is a complete fraud. We have all seen their advertisements to try them out for free. Do you know why they want you to try out their website for free? So they can get your personal information and sell it to someone else for money. You are just putting money into their pocket by “trying them out for free”. They bombard you with membership solicitation till you feel anything but “harmonious”. Its amazing the same weekend I joined I was bombarded with even more spam and not spam coming from them.

I highly doubt this site is run by highly educated relationship specialists as they advertise on television. They are just playing the pied piper to people who are looking for a relationship. You will not find your soul mate on this website. You will find someone who most likely is employed by eharmony that will tell you everything you want to hear. There is a special place in hell for people who play on other’s emotions like this.

Disagree. I met my wife on eharmony in February 2017. We have been married for 5 years and going strong. There are some questionable characters that get past eharmony's screening process. My advise is to stay with the structured communication process. This helps to weed out the "players". Wish everyone success in their search:-)

eHarmony eharmony - matches are not active

I joined e harmony 3 months ago and I am convinced now through pure concrete knowledge that 99% of all the male matches they sent me are no longer active (Maybe a free weekend has given them staying in
Eharmony's unethical base).
How do I know? Of the about 200 men they've sent me, only 6 have clicked on my name.
And to further reduce the doubt in the typical question:
"maybe they didn't like the way you look so that is the reason for lack of contact..."
This is not a valid argument, since no picture of the person appears initially. A man has to click on the name for a picture to open. Logic and intelligence tells me, something is so unethical at this point about eharmony.
I truly hope that they can be investigated.

EHarmony BROKEN! I have my settings at the lowest (30 miles) and 70% of my matches are 40-100 miles away. This feature DOES NOT work properly; furthermore, I want to reduce it even further to 15-20 miles and it’s not an option. We the customers should have full control over the distance we are willing to travel.

Other options they need like their competition has:
If no picture in profile—DON’T SEND IT TO ME (40%) of my matches don’t have pictures and I will not communicate with a mystery person. If the person is hiding their face, makes you wonder what else they are hiding.

Some level of body characteristics or description needs to be available (again like their competition offers) so I don’t receive matches of 400 lbs. women (not joking BTW). I take good care of my body and stay in shape, and I am not going to partner with a woman who does not care about their body. Sorry if that sounds vain, but it is only fair that my matches have some level of physical matching and not just psychological matching option.

As example: FIGURE (Thin, athletic, average, need to lose Wight), HAIR COLOR: (natural, bleach blond, red, black, brown), SEARCH or BROWSE OPTIONS: (search for matches bases on all my personal criteria or view lists of members in the system I want to meet and not wait around for EH to select all the wrong matches.

These are just a few options that would increase the success rate for matches, but they don’t exist in EH. Also, there should be stricter questions and personality testing for the category of children. WHY?

Well, I dated a women (1 1/2 years) that on her profile says (likes kids). After dating for a while she admitted she MEANT grown kids out of the house; whereas I have a 9 year old daughter. My date complained constantly about me spending time with my little girl and not focusing ALL my attention on HER! NARCISSISTIC behavior for sure.
So far, EH SUCKS! Need to find a better system.

eHarmony very suspicious matching - not worth it

Been with EharmonyUK for 3 weeks, and am getting new matches with people who haven't been active for weeks !, tell me how that can be even weeks later this is still happening. I am very dissillusioned. I am up to 250 potential matches, yet < 12 have actually viewed my profile ? Not that I expect a perfect match right away but these people are jsut not active, andpossibly not paid up or discontinued from what I am reading in complaints. Be warned. I've won't be continuing my subs. Its just not worth the time - best joining in real life clubs with interests you are passionate about.

eHarmony taking money from bank acc

e harmony invite you to join for a three month trial period and after you cancel after the three payments they continue to take the payments from the bank. it is not set up a a standing order or direct debit they take it from your debit card as they have your details. what can be done to stop this fraud.

You need to contact your bank, you might have to change your bank account. Also inform trading standards, if you have an address for this company then write to them asking them to refund the money they have taken since you cancelled otherwise you will be taking legal action and give them 14 days.

eHarmony misleading advertisement

I requested closure to my account on your website and a refund of the remaining amount based on the $28.95/mo fee. I was trusting to allow a upfront payment of $173.00 that was sent in June and now being told my account can't be cancelled. I am told the account will stand until Dec 07.

I feel all of these things are misleading in that people are lead to believe the account can be cancelled at anytime and there is a monthly rate, when in fact there isn't. The way it is working is there is a 1 month rate, 3 month rate, 6 month rate, and a 12 month rate. There isn't really a such thing as a monthly rate. I am asking other government and legal agencies to look into this misleading practice and considering further actions if I can't get some resolution from your company. Since, your representatives have a habit of hanging up on customers, I doubt you are open for discussion.

Did you read the terms and conditions?

"Cancellation At Any Time With No Refund. Except as otherwise stated in this section, you may cancel your registration or subscription to any Services at any time during the term of such registration or subscription or any renewal period by accessing the “Account Settings” page under the “My Settings” option on your membership home page, clicking on “Cancel My Subscription” or “Close Account” link, and providing the information requested. In such case, your subscription will terminate at the end of the subscription term for which you have paid, and you will not receive any refund for any unused days of such subscription term. "

eHarmony took my money - dating service

In March 2011 I re-signed up for eHarmony - a service that I had used successfully in the past. I purchased a 3 month membership, and was charged for the first month upfront (with an agreement to be billed monthly). I immediately attempted to update my profile, since some of my information was outdated - and was surprised to find that I couldn't make any changes at all. When I had been a member in the past, it was under a previous version of their webpage. The web pages either wouldn't load completely or would pretend to save changes, but nothing 'stuck'. I contacted customer support that day, requesting tech support (or a way to use an older version that would work). They were unable to figure out the problem, but offered to make minor changes (like to my 'location' since I had moved), while they tried to make things work.

Over the past month an a half, I have tried everything their tech support suggested - taking hours of my time, without any payoff. Different web browsers, settings, preferences, security levels, everything multiple times (because for some reason, they were unwilling/unable to look through the full email chain). At first I was grateful for the assistance - over time though, it became very frustrating, since nothing was fixed. To be clear - I'm talking about emails with 'suggestions' for me to try every 2 or 3 days for a month.

After I was charged the second monthly installment, I requested a refund. It is unacceptable to charge a second time for a service that hadn't been rendered yet. At first, they acted as though they were taking the situation seriously, but once I requested a refund they changed tactics - stating that if I had wanted a refund, I would have needed to have requested it in the first 3 days after signing up. Because I was willing to work with them to fix a technical issue on their end (I do not have any other websites that I have ever visited with similar issues, and I had always been able to use their site just fine before the change to the most recent version), I am being told that there is nothing that they can do for me.

When I responded that telling me that I couldn't have a refund because I was patient and giving them the benefit of the doubt, they told me that everything is fine on their end, so there obviously isn't a problem - and then condescendingly told me how sorry they were that I was considering leaving the eHarmony 'family' - as if I were deserting them, rather than giving up after being charged twice for a service I had yet to receive.

I requested the name/phone number of a person that *could* help me - and have been waiting over a week for any kind of response.

Once you give these thieves your credit card, you're apparently out of luck even if they are unable to make their site usable. Deal with them at your own risk!

Socialbugg.com is a Free site of singles. You should try them out or Facebook.com...both sites are free. You can't lose and there's plenty of singles.

eHarmony faulty website

This site is crap - When I first subscribed I received several matches - the vast majortiy outside of my state. After the first 2 weeks, I received no new matches. I was unable to view any match's profile information or view any other photos beyond the main photo. I called and spoke to a cust serv rep and was told to broaden my preferences and that finding the right match takes time - usually 6 months or so. The viewing problem was never remedied. Interesting, how this company tries to railroad you into signing up for an extended membership. I plan to cancel my membership and am hoping I don't run into the problems I'm hearing so many others have had doing this. Sounds like cancelling is about as efficient as the services provided are. Lesson learned.

I joined e Harmony with the understanding that I would be matched with single women looking to meet single men in the hope's of meeting that person you can have a special relatiopnship with.But after 3 months I have yet to meet anybody..e Harmony would send me
these matchs and I would send them e mails to let them know that I was interested but I would not get any kind of responce back.I feel that I'm just wasting my time and also my money by trying to find my match when you send out these e mails to different women and in return you get nothing.I don't want to renew my membership, But I'm afraid that I'll get stuck with another bill.

e harmony continue to charge my account after I specifically requested not to be on their auto renew. They renew me anyway and refuse to refund. I was disapointed in the customer service which advised me to use the service since I was charged

eHarmony misleading

They say it's based on 29 levels of compatibility and there are 10, 000 new members daily, well their definition is "flexible". It was insulted with whom they believed I was compatible with, as I am an educated women and they are sending me matches who can't complete a a written sentence. Most profiles weren't legitimate as they didn't even have pictures, and maybe one or two lines about themselves. Then because they didn't have enough members in my "guideline" criteria, they gave me "flex" matching, so I received matches 3 hours away from me and over the age limit or under the education criteria I selected. When I complained, they gave me canned responses. I would NEVER recommend this dating site as they are preying on people's emotions, and their definition of "highly compatible" matches are not mainstream. Sure I drive a lot as a sales rep, but that doesn't mean I"m going to be highly compatible with the driver they selected who came from Mexico.

eHarmony deceptive advertising and sneaky tactics

This company is very sneaky and deceptive. They are promoting on TV a "Free Communication Event" and further tout that "absolutely no credit card required". See the screenshot I have attached from their website.

As soon as you spend the hour or two to set up a profile (and yes it takes at least and hour and a half) you learn that you really CAN'T freely communicate with anyone, nor can you even see any pictures. What half intelligent person is going to spend even more time filling out forms and questionnaires to "communicate" with someone they have NEVER seen? What a joke. The first thing people using online dating sites do is look at the other person's picture right? Not second. It's first and foremost. But they are touting free communication - just to people you can't see! And you can't email anyone. All you can do is answer prescribed questions. How is that free communication?

Also if someone else (say a current paying member - who CAN see the pictures that you posted of yourself) sends you a message, you can't even see them! AND you can't email them. You can only answer system generated questions. And who has the time to respond to questions to faceless people?

And worse this is an injustice to your paying members who are emailing people like me and will never get a response because 1) I can't email them, and 2) I have no idea what they look like. And F-Y-I eHarmony: looks DO matter. So this is how they treat your current paying members. Members who pay way more than any other online dating service? Whow sign me up! I can't wait to pay a company who treats their paying members like that!

eHarmony is a very deceptive organization and they should be ashamed of their company. That is VERY VERY sneaky and slimy. I guess they are betting on the hope that people will pay for their service without getting their truly free trial because of the time investment they just spent. eHarmony you should be embarrassed for yourself. This isn't even close to ethical.

I would not patronize this deceptive and unethical company if it were free. They are just not good people running this organization. Let everyone you know be aware of this company and their deceptive ways. They need to find out the hard way it isn't cool to screw people over.

They've been sleazy forever, seeding matches with people who are incredibly attractive to get you to sign up, who then mysteriously disappear. Amazingly convenient timing of new match emails that happen like clockwork. Offers that appear in emails that then aren't really available. The whole structure is stupid. Making people take forever going through a bunch of questions that could be better handled in person, like a (shock) human being would do. And they're far more expensive with less results. Match does a better job.

Well, look at the creepy guy who represents them in commercials--that itself turned me off. Glad I never wasted my time with that site. I am sorry that other people got screwed over by them--they should be very ashamed, but I'm sure they're not.

eHarmony offer was not honored

I decided in May 2010 to sign up for a 6 month subscription for eHarmony. The reason behind my decision was at the time they offered if you signed up for the 6 month plan and did not make a connection they would provide another 6 month membership at no charge I just had to make at least 1 contact a month which I did. My subscription ended with no connection so I contacted them to honor their deal. I was advised by customer service we do not make any guarantees on meeting someone and they have never offered this. They said it must have been another company. They refused to assist me. I never signed up with another company for a 6 month subscription due to the price. The only reason I did here was I figured it was a good deal if I didn't find someone I would get a 1 year subscription for a 6 month price. These people are a rip off and I have since closed my account and am out a lot of money.

Danielle, so all this time, all these six months, you expected a 6-month extension but you had no physical proof or printout that the company offered it.

They are right. It is another company. The offer is from Match.com http://www.match.com/guarantee/rules.aspx

To avoid this in the future, when joining promotional contests or company offers, for your own good, clip the ad or print it.

eHarmony waste of time and money

This dating company do not provide the service they advertise.
No one replies to emails sent to them probably because they do not receive them.
To test it out I sent messages to members whose details I was sent asking them to acknowledge my message to ensure that the company was not a scam.
No one replied.
I have asked for the Managing Director's details on several occasions but it has not been forwarded.
I am now after closing down this time and money wasting company and ask for a refund.
DO NOT JOIN eharmony uk is my advice.

I joined 7 months ago, and although I have over 1000 "matches", I have only received 3 emails from men who write once and then you never hear from them again. I would classify myself as a very attractive lady, great smile, intelligent and on other dating sites I have had many responses to my profile, so I know it's not me or my picture. WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME THIS HAS BEEN!

eHarmony unfair business practice/unauthorized taking of money

My 1 year membership subscription to their service was to end on July 13th, 2010 and was NOT authorized to be renewed. No emails or any contact of any kind was sent requesting a renewal or any authorization for a renewal to the service. Eharmony without permission, Renewed the membership on a monthly renewal rate of $19.95 with the credit card that was on file with them(which they should have not have kept on file)and refuses to refund any money that was taken without authorization. They cite their Cancellation NO REFUND policy as an excuse for justifying their "theivery. I sent them an email (which is the only way you can contact them)requesting a refund for the unauthorized renewal and their response was another citing of their Cancellation No Refund policy. Do not do business with them or if you do change your credit card number after you subscribe to their service. By the way - their service wasn't very good either. They provided matches that did not post pictures and/or were hundreds of miles away and in several instances in different states.

eHarmony refund policy and site matching ability

Hello All

I have decided to sign for a 12 months membership which costs me £119.00. I was billed like 39 pounds for 3 months. During the week, i have communicated over 28 matches and i was vey open minded and flexible, i did not have any high expectations or being a judgemental person based on picture looks or whatever. I have used the guided communications to attempt to speak to the 28 people and none have replied back, the only thing that these matches have done is checked my profil and just leave me cold. At least have some damn courtesy to reply back saying not interested or not my match…whatever, i can take comments, i dont care if they say, you are one ugly ********. So i contacted E Harmony and told them that this site has so many flaws like matches are being matched on the other side of the ***** world, and matches who are not a full paid members, which mean you could be talking to people and waiting for them, only to fine out that they are not a ***** member! And another flaw, is that some people may not like to date a specific background for Example: 1 Match is looking for european, and the E Harmony computer sends a freaking match who isnt a european, what a **** waste of time. I told them that i wanted a refund and i gave them a full 100% Negative feedback. So instead of a FULL refund, they Refunded me £4.90! Now i am taking the complaint to a high level. So I HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND E HARMONY, ITS A SCAM, A WASTE OF MONEY, AND IF YOU WANTED A REFUND, YOU WILL GET THE SAME AMOUNT.

Don't bother signing up for this site. All I have received are match possibilities that the individual is located on a city so far away and it's ridiculous that they don't consider thus when matching. Good luck getting your money back as well.

Sorry to hear that you've been unhappy with the geographic distance of your matches. Have you tried changing your match distance settings in your profile? You can do this at any time from within your account. Instructions for how to do this are here: https://help-singles.eharmony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/722/c/31/r_id/166. If it's extremely important that your matches reside within the distance you choose, be sure to mark your preference "7 - Very Important" on the sliding scale so you don't receive any flex matches who may live further away.

eHarmony auto renew

UGH! Was auto renewed to this pathetic site three months ago. Sent an email that I wanted OFF, and NEVER auto renew me again.
After three months, I get an email this am stating that they have AGAIN autorenewed me!
Do not accept their autorenew Fight for your money - all of it.
This is a scam. The man on the phone was rude and condescending to me...Sorry, pal, I am a lawyer with a Masters in Business (MBA) and he is scolding me that I am incorrect.
FIGHT for your money back - you WILL get it.
Scam, scam, scam.
By the way, simply google "eharmony phone number" and you can actually get a number to call someone (I defy you to find it on their website...). I would give it on here, but it seems to change monthly. Hmmmmmm...Fishy, no?

I had the same experience with eharmony. It is a total scam and the auto-renew scam should be litigated. I will participate in any class action suit. I smell pyramid scheme when I dealt with "customer service". It was obvious in talking to Shelly and Hugo (as identified) that they were participating in the scheme. eharmony goes to great lengths to avoid having a means to talk to anyone who doesn't just repeat and email out their self serving policy and make lies about not turning off auto renew.

I don't recommend that anyone ever give banking or credit card information to eharmony. I hope that a class action suit is filed and will participate any way I can.

I constantly receive spam from them, even though I've never even used their website. I don't know how they got my email address, but I want them to stop emailing me.

I was talking with a guy who name was PHILLIP T. RICHARDSON, he sound Mexican and he wanted me to open up a checking account for him. and I told him no. I think this was a scam. he kept asking me and I kept telling him no. I am looking for love, not to help someone break the law. thank you for your time. please look in to this, I don't want any one to get hurt by this.,

There should be something at the bottom of these e-mails allowing you to unsubscribe. If not, you can set up the spam/junk filters in your e-mail to block these messages.

eHarmony service

After the first five minutes I found out they will not let you pick your own matches, only the ones they pick for you so you can not browse members who you would like to talk to and only about 1 out of 12 have a picture so you have no idea what they look like. I tried to cancell my subscription after an hour and they said they would not give me any kind of refund and hung up on me. Anyone thinking of joining this site should not be taken in by anything they say, they are nothing but lies

eHarmony everything about them sucks!

I just want to tell as many single people as possible "don't waste your time or money on eHarmony"! The website is difficult to maneuver around and in some cases confusing. You have to jump through hoops in order to just get an email address, so that you can contact Customer Support, and there's no way they're offering up a phone number for Customer Support (I defy anyone to find that on their site)! I had to go Google for that!

I had nothing but problems from the moment I tried to sign up with them...First they wouldn't take me because I was separated and not divorced yet. Once I got divorced you have to give them several pieces of court info, via email, before they'll take you again. I sent them the info twice...only to finally have to get a whole new email address because their CS never did their job. So, I finally get on and for some reason my pics won't load. I haven't had any problem with loading the same pics on other dating sites...even on this one...but they wouldn't load on their site. I even double checked their specs and my pics fell well within range. So, I did the next thing I was offered...emailed the pics to eHarmony (via an address they provided) and waited...and waited...and waited. Five days later, I did it again, receiving two emails, from them, notifying me that the pics were approved and loaded, ready for viewing...not so much. They still weren't appearing on my page! So, I went to the link, that they provided at the bottom of their email, and looked for "Customer Support" (what they said to do!). There is NO link to customer support from that link or any other page. Also, I was given mostly 50+ men to choose from...I'm 42...and reasonable cute! Soooooo not for me!

Now I will say that once I Googled and used the 800 number, after a long wait, I spoke with someone who was happy to give me my money back (after a 7 to 10 day waiting period) just to get me off the phone. That was the quickest, most painless thing the CS dept. did for me. I hope they get it right!

I highly recommend POF.com (free) or OKCupid.com (free) or even Match.com (not free)...but whatever you do...stay away from eHarmony and the grief they'll cause you...not to mention they are exhorbitantly priced, especially for the lack of service you get and the product they provide. Don't believe what they tell you on their commercials!

Thanks for reading my tirade and I hope it helps someone, anyone out there with their decision.
