eHarmony shutting off auto renewal/cancel subscription

I just signed up for eHarmony about 1 month ago unfortunately falling into the trap that is an honest dating site. I signed up for the 12 month plan (payment once a month) and I was NEVER told before sign up that I could not shut off the Auto Renewal because of this plan! This is such a scam and I am furious and want to totally cancel my subscription with this company. I will be placing complaints with every department available to me and if I have to cancel my credit card to stop these scammers I will. I contacted them today (Sept. 1st, 2015) and told them I wanted Auto Renewal shut off and he said to me he does not design the website. I told him I was not informed of this until I tried to do it using their own directions. No where on their site does it say that you can only turn off auto renewal on certain subscriptions. I am FURIOUS! I want my credit card refunded as this company misrepresents itself and is a complete sham!

EHarmony is horrible. The matches I have been getting don't have a picture attached to them and they are older than my age range after I changed my restrictions. I was very excited about the site because I have heard so many good stories. My Aunt & Uncle along with a couple friends found love. I did not want to spend this much money ($175 for three month...

eHarmony billing does not stop

When I took a subscription with eHarmony it was for a 3 month period. The matches weren't particularly great, which isn't their fault, so after a few weeks I contacted them to ask how I cancel the subscription. I was advised that the subscription can't be cancelled until the remaining two payment have been debited. Then months later I received another email to let me know another term of three months had commenced. I have contacted them again to ask for the auto renew to be cancelled and I have received the same response, to pay the next term of three months. This site is a scam!

In the terms and conditions it describes cancelling by accessing account settings then clicking on a deactivation button which is non existent. Under the Terms of agreement also gives you a full address to write to cancel a subscription however this can be cancelled when they receive such a letter which could be just after the next enrolment entitlement.!

I tried to register on eHarmony. They ask for your race, the options are: White (non-hispanic), African American, Asian, hispanic/latino, etc.

I'm white and of hispanic culture. What am I supposed to check? There should be entries for white hispanic, black hispanic, asian hispanic, etc.

The list gets longer and longer. I had a situation where a male member was looking for "Swinger" hook ups!
How crazy is that? eHarmoney doesn't exactly look into the details of profiles. As long as one pays their fee; what do they care.
Another issue is the "What If" page. It is down every single time I go to have a look.
This was a very stupid decision on my part to get involved with eHarmoney. The only people I've met are creeps, perverts and odd balls.
For those who are thinking of joing. Save it. Don't bother it is a total scam!

eHarmony scam scam!

This site is nothing more than a scam! DO NOT sign up for this thing. I signed up and the next day realized that I didn't like it so I went to go cancel my subscription. I drove myself nuts trying to find it and when I didn't I called and asked to cancel. The lady had the nerve to tell me I couldn't cancel because I was past the 3 day grace period which was BS because I had only signed up the day before I called them. They keep charging me 29 a month and said I can't cancel until July. I do not want this service anymore and never find any guys that are worth my time. They match me with the same people every week and claim they are new by using a different picture. They should be ashamed of themselves and the owner of the website should be sued for fraud!

I've been on many dating sites and they are all, esp the paid ones, dishonest and scams. I've probably lost about $300 maybe more, to these horrible dating sites. You can not get your money back no matter what you do. We need to pull together and file a law suite against these sites. Do NOT fall victim or pay for any of them. Even the free sites are BS. All the men want is sex, some are criminalizes, some will rape you if they get the chance. These men are predators who only care about one thing. I had one guy, first date, who wanted me to follow him home so we could have sex. This guy was in his 60's. What crap! I've seen another guy who has put up at least five profiles on many "paid" dating sites. What the hell is that? Don't bother with any of them, don't believe the commercials you see. Those people are paid actors! All the dating sites are horrible. Not one is honest or provides real men. I believe 90% of the profiles are either fake or have been abandoned. Do not sign up, do NOT pay!

eHarmony not accurate matching!

This site does not provide accurate matching. They simply send you less than a dozen "matches" a day to go through. They are completely random and do not match up to your profile settings. I am a 47 thin white male, 6'2, athletic, christian, etc... I am constantly being matched up with women in their 20's or even 50's which outside of my dating range. Constantly being matched up with very overweight black women. O being matched with people who live across the country. And those are just a few of the issues. I have never written a complaint before online about anything. This site has spent a ton of money on tv and radio commercials and marketing. Dont fall for the hype. I'm sure there are success stories. But the masses are most likely disappointed. The questions that go back and forth between two people that eharmony thinks helps in the matching process that they select, well you can go sign up on match.com and just ask questions to anyone. And on a site like match (Or any other for that matter) they do not limit you to just a handful of matches a day. You can search the world, and search by any criteria. Do not sign up for eharmony. There are much better avenues on the web where you can find great people looking to meet you!

eHarmony taken fees out of my visa card without permission or authorisation

I was registered with e harmony dating service for 12 months from 14/2/14 to 14/2/15 at a cost of $249.00 for a 12 month subscription. This year I did not give them authorisation to take out another yearly subscription. In their fine print, it states that there was supposed to be communication from them to me, before they took the money off my visa card. This did not happen. If they had have made contact via e-mail I would have un-subcscribed from their service as this would have alerted me to the fact that my year was coming to an end and that I no longer wish to subscribe for a further 12 months. I have contacted e harmony via phone in Australia to no avail. They will not take responsibility for their actions, they will not refund the money that they stole off me. They do not want to know about it at all. I would appreciate some advice of the above manner.

eHarmony scam dishonest greedy organization

eharmony is a dishonest, scam, organization that cares about one thin, their profits. Let me give you several examples.

1. Legitimate organizations with integrity provide an unsubscribe at the bottom of their unwanted dishonest "interest" emails but not eharmony. They make you login as if you signed up again and then of course you can't sign in because you did not sign up and create a password to begin with.

2. I provided a detailed description of women that I would be attracted to, eharmony completely ignored my description and sent me numerous people that I would never ever have any interest in. I guess their thought is we got your money so you will get what ever "we feel" you should get regardless of your desires, interest or date.

3. They still keep sending me emails claiming that "somone" new has expressed interest in you. Isn't it a scam and a fraud to allow their paying members to view profiles of former members that are no longer members, no longer interested in being ripped off by eharmony. I asked to have my profile hidden and they ignored me. Even if you go to settings on their rip off scam site they do t have any entries for deleting profiles or hiding profiles. They intentionally make everything impossible except getting a date with a person you might be attracted to.

4. They don't have any "Contact Us" on their site, no complaint entry or department and completely ignore anyone and every one that is upset or complains. All they care about is money and have become just another rip off online company. Their founder is a pathetic dishonest scam artist.

eHarmony no response to complaint

I have paid a subscription to eHarmony and they are displaying incorrect information about me, which I did not provide to them and they have not changed this even after a number of complaints sent to them. The main issue is that I provided my date of birth as 29 June 1978, yet they are showing me as 40 years old, which will reduce the amount of men of my own age who will want to contact me as most men prefer younger women to older.

They are also sending me matches that are completely different to those I have selected. This is a waste of my money and they are misrepresenting themselves in their advertising.

As they won't reply anymore with a confirmation that they will resolve the issue, they are basically taking my money and not providing me with the service they agreed to provide.

eHarmony breach of contract

After three months they have sent me the exact same matches all over again! The matches are on a loop! After you reject three months worth of matches they just start sending them to you all over again! NOT new matches, the exact same matches. I know for a fact because some of them were still in my "communicating" folder because I was waiting to hear a response back. How can they claim they've sent me a "new" match in my "new" matches page, when those exact profiles are in my waiting folder to hear back from? I also went and looked and all the new matches that weren't in my waiting page were in my "hidden" folder, meaning, I had closed the matches because I wasn't interested. They were sending me repeats of the same matches they'd sent me three months ago on a loop! THIS WEBSITE IS A SCAM! THEY WILL NOT SEND YOU NEW MATCHES, they will only rotate on a loop the same exact matches all of which are short, ugly, bald, fat men! NONE of them were attractive, and if they were, they hadn't logged in any time recently (fake profiles), many were obviously fake pictures very badly copies from magazines and such. SCAM SCAM SCAM! They lie and say they will send you "new" matches but they're the same old matches you already rejected!

eHarmony misrepresentation, fraudlent, misleading

Paid for over a year of membership. Prices were subject to change, charges were not what was advertised, but the worst part of this site was that this company does not background check its members. When you are running a dating business, to help introduce individuals to each other, it is imperative that you as the company check to ensure each member is actually, legally, SINGLE! I was matched with a man that according to his profile from eharmony's experts was single. I dated him for over a year, BEFORE I found out he was MARRIED! This is the most cursory level of security that eharmony should offer its clients...that their members are not legally married, and that they if they have a criminal record that it is disclosed...the lack of oversight and responsibility of this company borders on criminal. They are matchmaking people here...they essentially claim members other members are single, and good people, but many of them are lying. Eharmony does nothing to check into a person's background...people on this site write their own profiles...so if eharmony is not even verifying the validity of their legal single status...how is this legit?

eHarmony automatic subscription renewal

I have been charged an automatic subscription renewal fee by eHarmony.
I feel that although this is stated in the company terms and conditions, that this process is not clear to the time of initial subscription.
Insufficient and unclear consumer information is provided at the time of agreement to te terms and conditions.
At the companies privacy policy states that they will not process a translation unless it has been authorised.
At no stage did I receive any notification or authorisation request for my bank account To be charged on a specific date, amount, or time which has now resulted in account fees from my bank.
I have lodged a complaint with the company directly, but feel that little is being done to correct the issue.
Looking at all of the previous complaints on this site further enforces the fact that this company needs to be brought to the attention of authorities, and legal action should be persued.

Same thing happened to me. I had no idea that they continued to charge my credit card for. a service I wasn't even using. I sent emails to them and they never replied. I didn't receive anything from them to say that my subscription was being renewed. I found the amount on bank statement. Plus they won't refund the amount- even though I want to cancel the service. eHarmony fraudulent claims and false advertising

eHarmony's advertising promises to match people with their "perfect match." This is a lie. I've been a member on and off for about 3 years and have NEVER been matched with anyone even remotely close to my interests. After finally ending my membership and choosing that I no longer wish to receive matches, they send messages stating that someone wants to communicate with me. When I log back in, I find that the member's profile is no longer active.

eHarmony uses unethical marketing and business practices. Customer service is pretty much non-existent, or patronizing at best. They are rude and prey on gullible people. I'm embarrassed that I believed their claims.

Save yourself some money, don't be gullible like me and pump money into their pockets, which is what it's all about. If you're a Christian, join a local singles group at a trusted church, or make some new friends at your own church.

God doesn't need eHarmony to bring someone into your life. Blessings!

eHarmony steal your money and don't provide promised service

I purchased a 3-month subscription and clearly selected the NOT TO RENEW automatically option. Well, they ignored that and kept charging my credit card, which I didn’t discover until 2 months later. They offered to credit me one month’s charge, but if I wanted both I would have to formally write in, which I did. Also, I hardly got any matches sent to me. The couple of messages I did receive, when I tried to reply, they were suddenly gone, so they must have been phony. My emails and phone calls to them over some months were either ignored or dismissed, none of my concerns about their service were addressed. I am totally disgusted with this company. It’s obvious that all they care about is taking your money. I think they are a FRAUD and should be shut down. Beware people!

I called and they said that I could not get my money back because t I signed up for 2 years. Till 2016! Rediculous! You should be able to cancel when you want. I decided to join the Elks Lodge because they do a criminal search and check to see if you are a child molester or a convict. I feel safer meeting new people that way than on the internet! eHarmony completely dissatisfied

I have been on the site for a month. I am an attractive female, and only chose to try online dating because a friend (who had never used it) recommended it. My job has me mostly working alone, so it is sometimes difficult to meet men. Anyway, apparently according to the test, my compatible matches are never going to be attractive to me. An entire month went by and not one guy was even remotely attractive to me. I know that sounds ridiculous, and maybe it is, maybe it just means online dating is not for me. Maybe I have trouble having attraction to a picture and a profile. Either way I am not satisfied, so I call the company to try and cancel. I signed up around the 19th of September and called to cancel the 16th of October. I had signed on for the yearly plan, not knowing that only an act of God could dissolve this "partnership". A monthly price with no commitment is $53 and some change. My first payment had been around 63, so already I had overpaid. I was not asking for a refund, only to close the account and cancel any future payments. Not only did the young woman on the line say she could not do that, she then turned the issue on me as if I had answered questions incorrectly so as to earn these matches. I have never been treated so poorly. I will never use their services nor will I recommend them. If they do at any point try to remedy this situation, rest assured I will update this but until then, BAD eHARMONY. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION POLICY. Or should I say very good customer Dissatisfaction policy. ps. I am not one to complain online or in life in general. This is a rare post and incident, for me. I forgive them for being greedy and cold. I just wanted to share my situation, in hopes that others can avoid this frustration.

I totally agree with the very same thing happening to me. eHarmony's idea of a match was to show me men who had no formal education while I have four university degrees. They also wanted me to date men who smoke and drink every day. REALLY?!?!?! I turned them in to VISA telling the credit card company there were no matches. Their solution was to have me talk to an eHarmony representative who gave me a load of baloney. I opted out of the year contract for just three months which cost me $146. What a major rip off. Their method of "matching' is solely based on what percentage of questions were answered identically, despite some answers being virtually the same. Most of the questions were so lame. I am everything men ask for in their profiles, and eHarmony just couldn't find a match. Amazing!
eHarmony is the biggest scam going.

eHarmony eharmony is a fraudulent scam.

Please warn all your friends NEVER to join eHarmony. If I could give them zero stars I would.

It is a dishonest company that cons their clientele into committing for three months to a year. Then after 2 weeks of sending people who live nearby, a vast majority of which are clearly not a match to you in any way, they begin to send only EMPTY profiles of people who live a 1000 miles away or absolute NON-matches. They give no way for the member to search their site, they choose your seven matches a day and only do so if you allow eHarmony to email you. These matches begin to repeat within a month. There is a "what if" category that allows you to search a dozen potential matches they say are outside your "match range". These are random people many up to 25 years younger or older, from around the country, most of who have empty or near empty profiles with a single photo, who later end up in your daily seven actual matches.

One of my daily seven matches I received from eHarmony was so clearly fraudulent they immediately began emailing me through the site, phishing me for my actual email address in broken speech.

I attempted to email eHarmony to cancel and was told to call. I called and the person was really rude and then told me there was nothing they could do, that I should email the address they would send me. I emailed that address and again heard nothing. Since I emailed however, I have stopped receiving any updates on their website, which is nice, but they kept a years membership fees for 5 weeks of HORRIFIC service.

I have since used their on-site messenger to attempt to receive help and still have received no reply. The site uses TV commercials to trick more people into their scam hoping no one ever reads reviews prior to signing up. If eHarmony simply said "we do not have any matches for you at this time" that would be honest. Instead they trap you for your entire period.

People sincerely want to find love and companionship and eHarmony preys upon this need. I offered to pay for the time I'd used and even offered to pay double their rate and was told there's nothing they can do, I had to pay for the entire year for my one month's completely ineffective service.

To refuse to refund and cancel a subscription after providing no service, after multiple requests and providing such a HORRIBLE completely fraudulent product is SHAMEFUL.

If there was a class action suite I would sign on. If there is a lawyer who would like to begin the process, I will sign the complaint today.

Please tell everyone you know to avoid eHarmony. Online dating can work. There are honest and effective online dating sites out there. The top two competitors of eHarmony are both genuinely good sites. I know because I've used them since my experience with eHarmony.

I sincerely hope others are more fortunate and learn of eHarmony's deception before signing up. Because eHarmony will steal your money and according to the dozens of other complaints I've since read, they will renew your contract and charge your credit card even after you've cancelled.

eHarmony is clearly the Enron of on-line dating.

There is no such thing as an algorithm that can find true love because love has nothing to do with science or logic. There are a billions of reasons people fall in love and claiming to have discovered the secret is just another form a snake oil. Besides if they could truly help people find love there would be no one on the site because they would have matched everybody and as their own statistics prove their match levels are little better than blind luck. Save your money and go on Craigslist you will still get a lot of bad matches but at least you won't go broke.

Eharmony is the biggest scam I have ever experienced. No matches but they sure will take your money and make it impossible to get out of their so-called contract! Ken S

About eHarmony

Screenshot eHarmony
eHarmony is a popular online dating platform that has been connecting singles for over two decades. The platform was founded in 2000 by Dr. Neil Clark Warren, a clinical psychologist who believed that compatibility was the key to a successful relationship. Since then, eHarmony has become one of the most trusted and respected dating sites in the world, with millions of users in over 200 countries.

One of the things that sets eHarmony apart from other dating sites is its unique matching system. Instead of simply allowing users to browse through profiles and message each other, eHarmony uses a proprietary algorithm to match users based on a variety of factors, including personality traits, values, and interests. This means that users are more likely to find someone who is truly compatible with them, rather than just someone who looks good on paper.

Another key feature of eHarmony is its focus on long-term relationships. While other dating sites may be geared more towards casual hookups or short-term flings, eHarmony is designed to help users find lasting love. This is reflected in the site's comprehensive personality questionnaire, which takes around 30 minutes to complete and is designed to help users understand themselves better and find partners who share their values and goals.

In addition to its matching system and focus on long-term relationships, eHarmony also offers a range of other features to help users connect and communicate. These include a messaging system, a "What If?" feature that suggests potential matches based on users' preferences, and a mobile app that allows users to access the site on the go.

Overall, eHarmony is a well-established and highly respected dating site that is ideal for singles who are serious about finding a long-term partner. With its unique matching system, focus on compatibility, and range of features, eHarmony is a great choice for anyone who is looking for love online.
