credit report
I applied for a refinance mortgage, in the process we found that the reports were listing the same loan twice, negatively affecting my score. I called the customer service number the woman did not speak very good English and after asking a bunch of questions she said they were wrong, I know where I live. equifax representative unlocked my account without asking for pin #
I had to unlock my Equifax freeze so I could set up an account with Verizon. I called Equifax and was connected to someone that I could not understand. After multiple attempts to give my name, address, phone number, and social security (one hour later), she said my credit freeze was reversed. I told the rep that I had not given her my PIN and she couldn't unfreeze my account without a PIN#. When I asked her name, she hesitated and said Summer, hoped I would give her a good review and hung up on me.
She actually unfroze my credit with the same information the hackers got from Equifax. How irresponsible can you get? I will forever worry about my personal information because Equifax was hacked, now I have to worry that Equifax can't even handle small tasks such as this.

The representative probably made a mistake. While it is a serious one, mistakes do happen. If you feel the need, you could always call back and ask for a supervisor to report it to make sure she is properly trained.
customer service
I signed up for Trusted Premier and it worked fine for a couple of days, but now I cannot access my account. When I enter my user name and password, the system says they are invalid. I have tried everything, but nothing works. I then called several of the numbers for Equifax and every one of them cut me off after just a couple of minutes of holding.
This is a bad company that should be regulated by the federal government. It is a menace to American consumers.
credit freeze
Due to no fault of my own, in fact Equifax`s fault I must freeze my credit lines. I can not get on via the net or telephone and your pre-recorded message is terrible, when you ask for mailing info it goes back to the beginning. I have already froze my credit with the other two agencies, costing me $20 when it was NOT my fault and you people are impossible to get in contact with. I am tired of spending hours of my time with the BS you people created, call me at [protected]. BTW I am already a member of the class action lawsuit with Morgan & Morgan and I sincerely hope all the suits bankrupts Equifax and the members that sold stock before the announcements have a long time in jail.

I've gone through the same process to freeze my credit with Equifax. I share the same frustration. Equifax should voluntarily and automatically freeze credit to those effected.
credit report/ credit score
I had not a lot of time on hand as my landlord needed my credit report and score to begin the process of my new lease. I paid $25 CAD and I was given the credit report of my twin brother under his name instead of mine. I called to get this corrected and wasted 2 hours on hold. I had to resort to using another company to do my credit score and report as I was in need of it immediately. I tried several times to contact Equifax office and am really disappointed in their customer service. I really hope I am refunded or more as it wasted a lot of valuable time and can possibly make me late in securing the apartment I am looking to lease which will make this not even the last option to look to when I need a credit report. Please help in this issue. Thank you.
poor business practices: billing, customer service, and account representation
On their website, the state the following for pre-employment screening:
"With all of the applicants in the market today, it is important to get a full understanding of the work history of those individuals you are looking to place or hire directly. Equifax can fulfill all of your verification needs, even for those individuals not on our database, removing the tedious process from your pre-employment process."
That is a wonderful claim, but not honored. If the information isn't in their database, you are required to contact the applicant and instruct the applicant to contact the employer and request the employer update the information with Equifax. But this is the least of our problems:
Since February 2017, we've been going back and forth with our account rep., Julio Herrera regarding our billing. This has been a long and arduous process where he makes promises he seldom honors.
First of all, we received a communication from Scott Collins, Senior Vice President, regarding an increase in our charges. The letter dated February 10, 2017 and claims the increase in charges will start on March 1, 2017. The information was not clear, so we reached out to billing and ended up being routed to Customer Service. We finally learned that Julio was our account rep and we contact him. Several weeks passed after each email inquiry before he would respond to a question, and his answers were vague. Even a request for a copy of our contract didn't prompt him to move an faster.
It took weeks and phone calls to the Equifax, a subsidiary of Talx, in St. Louis before we received a copy of the contract, sadly it was the contract for another company. After contacting Julio regarding this "mistake" we were assured we would receive our a copy of our contract. Weeks passed and a call to the Administrative Assistant for Mr. Collins prompted an email from Julio promising a copy of our contract.
A few weeks later, we received a copy of our contract. This contract clearly states the following:
"...change the price of Service and/or the Service Schedule and/or Description with thirty (30) days notice."
and
"...Except as otherwise provided in this Agreement. this Agreement may be amended only by a subsequent writing signed by both parties."
So the additional charge was not submitted with a 30-day notice (February 10 to March 1 is not 30 days) and the change in charges was not signed off by both parties. What is the point of having a contract that spells out the conditions of the agreement between two parties if the contract is not followed?
Finally, Julio promised a reduction in our charges in an email going back to March to compensate us for the troubles we have had with his company. It is now July 13, 2017 and we have not received a reduction in the charges, nor have we received a credit for back charges that should have been reduced per Julio's promise.
In the five months since that initial letter was written, we have had little to no help from the person who is supposed to service our account and our quickest responses from him are incited by a phone call to the company which then prompts an email inquiry from the Senior Vice President's office to both Julio and his manager.
In summary, we have experienced a lack of customer service, minimal and/or vague communications, and broken promises. While a reduction in our charges is welcomed, it has been offset by the amount of hours spent trying to resolve the problems mentioned above.
It seems that Equifax has monopolized the employment verification industry, and because of that they don't value their relationships with their customers.
The problems mentioned above should have been resolved in a matter of days, not months. Due to their poor business practices, we felt that our best recourse was to share our experiences with others.
employment verification
Absolutely, horrible customer service. After you wait 30 minutes to speak to someone they can't answer your question with any certainty. Wait another 20 minutes for a supervisor they also answer your questions by contradicting themselves. Try as you might, you will not get an answer you can feel accurate about. You also get disconnected on a regular basis after being on hold for over 30 minutes.
They're customer service including supervisors are uneducated in the product they provide. It's not surprising the government is their biggest customer. Government loves to pay too much for too little and inaccurate information. I cannot stress enough the frustration of dealing these companies.
Their website is no better.
employment verify
Keep getting calls from [protected] asking for employment verification. If this is actually from equifax then they need to have a method that I can independently verify that they are call me and they would need to verify that the employee actually gave permission for me to give them any information. If this is from equifax them they are contributing to scamming and should stop.
credit score monitoring
This is truly another scam. I realized yesterday that this company has been billing me the last 2 months for $19.95 each time. When I called the company, I was told that there was nothing they could do since I should have called them sooner. This "service" is nothing that I signed up for pr requested. I do not believe the indian that answered and said there was nothing he could do. If they can put the charges on, they can certainly take them off.
In addition, you do not receive your 3 credit scores; I was told they only do that once a year (ha). Do not fall for their scam.
theworknumber.com
So my resume was submitted to this company w/out my knowledge or consent. I was rather shocked when an offer came in for customer service. Since I had been unemployed since december, I took it, even though I had a really bad feeling about it. The temp agency made me jump through hoops, & still has not reimbursement my fees for notarizing my documents & for printing them off. Fast forward to june 13th 2016, my first day, training was nonexistent. Jane doe, our "trainer", felt the need to show us company handbook, then tell us, we're not able to get a copy. That equifax is a "paperless" company. That violates iowa law. After 3 days of "training" & 2 days of mock calls/real calls, we were thrown to the wolves. First day on the floor, my passwords didn't work. I spent the better part of 10-12 days sitting there doing nothing, bored. The management said that they are not on the best of terms with it & had no real idea when my credentials would work. Finally my credentials worked, so I was able to take calls. From then on, I was on a down hill slope. I begged for help from my so called supervisor & all she cared to do, was make food delivery orders online, look at housing, & travel arrangements. She also sat around, talking n bs'ing with her little friends, friends who are not management & have nothing said to them when they don't take any calls all day. I struggled with reading the script, verbatim. I begged for help with it, was told that they had to get permission out of atlanta for my help. Didn't make any sense to me. Jane doe would ignore my requests for help. My last day was pretty recent, a foreign gentleman called, rude & mean from the get go. He called me names, insulted my education; my training, everything. I had such a hard time telling this guy that its not his business; nor is he allowed to pull his own verification of employment &/or income. After he called me a f*ing b, my supervisor finally decided to come over & help me. She actually told him, I was poorly educated; poorly trained & that this was my first job ever. I was beyond shocked that this "manager" could say that! This was the 4th time she had said that to a customer that I needed help with. How in the world is this right?!?! Im sorry but thats a reflection of the poor management; poor training & lack of support these people provide. 2 days later I was informed that equifax had lost the funding for my position. I had an 18 month contract for this job, & only worked 1 month. The management brag about the high turnover rate, blaming the employees & their "lack of respect" for the rules. Theres no lack of respect for the rules, when they are not told what the rules are. My supervisor never bothered to help me, back me, or work with me in anyway. This place is beyond a joke.
advantage plan subscription
May 4, 2016 I called to have this subscription cancelled because it seems to me that equifax website is more geared to getting the customer to buy more then to provide the services offered. David, the customer service agent promised me he would cxl. June 4th, 2016 I am charged again $17.95 spoke to loosie she was to escalate the account it was a technical error told me to call back in 2 hours. Spoke to another agent and supervisor. How ironic both of their names were sam and was promised my money would be refunded in 48 hours. It is june 11th, 2016 and I called again to be left on hold for over 10 minutes and hung up on.
I am very upset, this is the biggest scam. I get better service from the free credit websites than I have with equifax!

I received a letter from radiology regional center stating that there was a potential breach of my medical records. To provide assistance in protecting this information, I received a 1 year subscription to equifax credit watch silver. I signed up for this service and selected the option to print out my credit report. Unfortunately, when I went to retrieve...

I received an alert from equifax that transunion has placed a credit report on my behalf. January 11, 2016, I have not authorized anyone to access my credit report. If this is for pay pal, I opted out approximately 4 years ago when they wanted access to my bank account. I don't believe that it was any of their business how much money I had or didn't have. I shut down the account and so how and why they are requesting this information without my permission is so wrong. Enquiries are made when creditors request a copy of your credit report. If you did not authorize this inquiry, contact the creditor as this may be a sign of fraud. Company contact information: ccb/ppc po box 5138, timonium, md 21094
withdrawing funds from my bank account without authorisation
From 2 june 2015 until today, 16 december 2015, equifax has been withdrawing £14.95 on around the first of each month from my current account, using my debit card details, without my authorisation. I was very busy, travelling much of that time and buying a new home, so although I queried the amount I did not go further. Only today I have discovered the fraud. I never registered with them and have no access code nor had any dealings with them. I see there are a number of complaints on internet about the scam. I would like to stop the payments and asked them today. I received a reply but see on internet that they just kept on withdrawing from one person's account even though he told them to stop.
Similar problem. Charged me 3 times for something I never even purchased. Called my bank and my own bank told me they were a legitimate company which upon reading 1, 000s upon 1, 000s of complaints, I don't think that is true. I went back to CIBC and asked a few more of their employees just to be sure. I asked about 10 or 11 employees throughout the day to see if they would tell me the same thing... All of them referred me to Equifax. I'm confused.
So, I asked them if they personally used Equifax themselves. They all said no.
I had the day off from work, so I said screw it, let's go see if any other bank employees from any other banks refer me to Equifax. All of them, TD, RBC, Scotia, BMO all referred me to Equifax. Again. I asked them if they have ever personally used Equifax. And again, they all said no.
So... here's my question:
Why the heck are the banks, professional bankers, telling me to use something that is completely, 100% illegitimate and just steals money from people?
Do any of these people even fact check?
I will personally see to it, even if it takes my whole entire natural life, to make sure that someone, somewhere, somehow is punished for such total, irresponsible disregard for other human beings.
not doing their job
I've been paying equifax for over a year to 'watch' my credit. When I was informed of a change, I tried to check my file. After trying to log into my file, I called. No one can 'find' my file anywhere, yet they still take money out of my account monthly. This company is a joke! When I tried to 'cancel' they stated it could not be done, since they can't find my file.

Multiple charges of $19.95 for a service from equifax consumer, a company that i've never heard of. I've never looked into finding out my credit score so this is a mystery. Called my credit card company and reported the unwanted charges. They're classifying it as fraud, refunding the charges and my new credit card is in the mail. I recommend avoiding the run around companies like equifax consumer would no doubt have given me by asking for assistance from your credit card company first.

service
Consumer's original complaint :
Equifax canada is not using fair credit reporting act
Equifax canada is not using fair credit reporting act, scores are dropping for no apparent or negative reasons. They wont answer questions when asked about matters. Negative information was removed from my report as a result of a consumer's dispute and my score dropped. They have changed scores twice in one day. They have changed dates on my report after arguing with them for days. I pay over $200 per year and am not alerted with changes to my file. They lie and say companies are not reporting which they are. They drop your score before it goes up so you can never hit a certain score. I have requested changes to my personal information through fax, signatures and confirmation numbers and they do not update. This company is abusing the system and there are so many consumer complaints, its horrible, someone needs to stop them from reporting false information. Peoples lives are being affected by this. I have had no negative information posted to my report in over a year but my score drops all the time. Payments all on time.
Consumer's desired resolution:
I just want this company monitored and looked into about their practices. Thank you

they will not resolve complaint
Equifax like so many companies hide behind there corporate office and staff making them impossible to actually file a complaint with the people who are responsible for the policies like the CEO and or Board (ie. Board of Directors). The only real way to get these companies to adhere to the laws that govern there business is to make the people at the "Top" more visible or transparent to the public they serve. Therefore, I encourage you to write a letter directly to the CEO of Equifax if have a complaint which is getting resloved. His name and home address are: Richard Frederick Smith, 4270 NW Harris Trail, Atlanta, GA 30327. Send a certified letter to prove he has signed and accepted letter for your records. Fight the good fight and do things in a civil manner, like court. He can't say he wasn't aware of situation now.
rude, helpless staff
I tried to sign up on the website www.equifax.ca in order to obtain my credit report. I wasted so much time, but nothing worked. After several attempts, I finally contacted the customer service, but they refused to help me and hung up in the middle of the conversation. I don’t know why they did it, but it was really unprofessional and rude. I wonder if there are other people, who had the same experience. Let’s share views about this website.
taking money out of my checking acct without my permission and were did they come up with my acct number
Both of the companies Equifax and Experian have been taking money out of my checking acct for several months now and I want it to stop and if it doesn't I am going to hire a lawyer to make them quit and get back all my money that they have stolen off me. No one should be loosing money to companies of this nature. Their stealing and it needs to stop.
