aggresive salesmen
Do not spend your hard earned cash with these people. We visited Evans Halshaw in Sighthill, Edinburgh to look at a 3 year old Insignia. When we arrived, I pointed out to the salesman that there was quite a few marks on the car for its age. He then turned on his heels, shouting over his shoulder that he would escort us to the door as there are plenty of other people waiting to buy this particular car. Rude, Arrogant, Aggressive and absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICES DEPT! they simply dont exist. Better off chancing your arm with a back street garage than lining the pockets of these people. Despicable attitude and very economical in the truth dept. BE WARNED! There are plenty of poor reviews if you do your homework, and if you talk to people in the street, its actually very surprising how many people have had bad experiences themselves.

used car
we brought a used renault scenic from this dealer in feb 2013.we had the car for 2 weeks when i noticed i had a serious oil leek.on checking i also had oil in the water.i rang them up and was told a breakdown truck would come to collect.waited all day and still no sign of the truck i phoned back up and was told they couldnt contact him as he was driving on the motorway.god nows how long the motorway was or how he managed without taking a break.he didnt turn up till the next day which was a saturday.he asked what the problem was he then went on to tell me there was plenty off oil in the car and the oil in the water was just solution of antifreeze and water.me being a mere woman he must of thought i didnt know anything.i told him it was probably the head gasket but he said no.i then said just take the car and i would deal with the garage.i was phoned by the service people and was told it would not be looked at till monday i asked about a coutesy car and was told there would not be any till the end of march.on the tuesday i still hadnt heard anything in spite of my husband contacting them a few times i contacted them and was told the pick up guy said there was no oil on my drive and he didnt think there was nothing wrong.so i said so you believe him instead of me and his reply was he is a trained mechanic, is attitude towards me saying he was a manager was appalling.in the end my husband went down and demanded to know what was going on.they admitted the head gasget had gone(dont give up your day job pick up driver) and it would be about a week to mend after a lot of argueing they gave in and gave me a used car to go to work and back in.nearly 2 weeks later(today 3/4/13) i went to fetch my car back.i asked for paperwork to prove the work had been done but they said there wasnt any.i then asked about gaurantee for work carried out and there responce to this was it was under the warranty so there is no gaurantee the gaurantee they gave me when i brought the car was 30days half of which was spent in there garage.i was gobsmacked at there no caring attitude.i have always gone to small garages to buy my cars and have had more respect of them when i have had a problem than these so called investors in people large well known garage.i wished i had read the complaints before i brought and i would definatly of thought twice.

false advertising
i am looking to purchase a nearly new used car. after a lengthy internet search i found a model i liked in my price range at evans halshaw Ford Glasgow. I phoned the garage and was first hung up on. When i phoned back, the salesman i talked to was helpful and sounded knowledgeable so i made an appointment to view the car that weekend.
After driving 60 miles to the showroom, i was told that the salesman wasn't in work that day and was handed over to a sale assistant who i'd just seen acting incredibly inappropriately in the forecourt.
At first the car i came to see could not be found, then i was told that it had been sold the day before. at first i was angry that no one had bothered to get in touch to tell me the car had gone. But then a laughingly surreal scenario unfolded in front of me. The salesman who was looking after me asked another of the salesman when was the white fiesta sold? The second salesman was like 'what white fiesta, we've never had a white one, we've got a silver one'. The first salesman said 'you know the white one', 'nope'. then he was like, the white one it was parked right out front 'wink wink'. the second salesman eventually cordoned onto the game and was like 'Oh yeah the guy with black hair bought it'
It seemed obvious to me that both salesman were blatantly lying, and the car that seemed such a good deal had never in fact existed at that garage and was falsely advertised on the internet to draw in customers. I am even sceptical that the original salesman i talked to on the phone even existed, and i was given a made up name so that this anonymous guy could take the blame when i found out it was a scam. Basically if you call up evans halshaw glasgow and are forwarded onto a salesman named 'robert plant' (yes i should have known), then the car you're interested in probably doesn't exist, well not at that garage anyways.

appalling service
How I wish I had checked out Evans Halshaw before doing business with them.
We have purchased a used Mondeo from a branch (Chilwell, Nottingham) which is about 50 miles from where we live. On driving home after collecting the vehicle we identified a problem with the rear off-side wheel. The branch was notified immediately and asked to arrange for the problem to be dealt with. Total disinterest from the dealer and no effort to resolve the issue. All that was required of them was to ask our local dealer to look into it and they couldn't even do that. Tired of waiting and chasing them we contacted the local dealer (Stourbridge) ourselves; after all, the car is still under manufacturer's warranty. We arranged to take the car to them for assessment which was done. They then have to get permission from the supplying branch to fix the problem. This communication can only be done by email! Since the supplying branch cannot be bothered to reply to the email nothing happens! At no time in any of this sorry saga has anyone from Evans Halshaw bothered to contact me. They clearly hope that if they ignore you you will go away. If we ever get this issue resolved I shall ensure I never again have any dealings with Evans Halshaw. If you value your sanity you won't either!
just been to evans halshaw today a tyre preasure wheel sensor part was broken all I got was you must have broken it they flatly refused to do anything but pay for it myself the car its self is not even a year hold ..this is the second time its happened to this car not again the things going back asap...I WOULD DEFINATLY NOT RECCOMEND EVANS HALSHAW TO ANYONE
Bought a Citroen from Evans Halshaw Cardiff in September 2014 in January 2015 it broke down all the power steering went got the AA to recover the car and they towed me to the garage around 5 o'clock. I was covered by a warranty that I had purchased from them when I bought the car. I asked if I could have loan car no they said as we can only offer me one after 24 hours if the car was not repaired by then. next day called them, they told me all the computer systems were down at their guarantee center which happened to be part of their own company. After three days they got the OK from the guarantee company but they then had to wait for the part this was an ECU unit that controlled the power steering motor by now I was angry that I had no car spoke to the service manager and as mentioned in other reports from customers they are never there and don't return your phone calls. I now have a loan car. How ever when fitting the part they had to get the ECU unit booted up by computer and has Citroen synchronize with their computer for it to down load the program. this has now taken nearly 14 days. During this time my Mother was very ill which only added to the stress of the situation as I wanted to get to London from Wales to see her. I also called their customer care department to make a complaint they said they would deal with the complaint and call me back and guess what they as yet have not called me back. I can only assume that this is how Evans Halshaw are train their staff to deal with their customers, if you mess them about enough the'll go away. problem solved. I will never use them again and will most certainly never recommend them to any of my friends or family. Still waiting to get my car back.
Mr J Warren
PS hope one of Evans Halshaw Directors reads this but then he won't call be will he
I have unfortunately had a similar appauling experience with Evans Halshaw Chilwell and can only confirm that I have never seen anyone so disinterested with after service in my life. Loan cars not being booked (despite having email confirmation of the booking, no apology) an inability to support my car ( the alarm keeps going off at all hours and the fuel gauge is a quarter of a tank out, the dealership have no mazda diagnostic software to diagnose the problem) and constant fobbing off ("It's the way you're driving it" & "You'll just have to monitor the fuel gauge" being the best two.

LS12 5RL Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to complain about our new car we bought from Evans Halshaw Leeds on the 6th September. We were really looking forward to getting our car. Unfortunately on the 7th September we broke down at 4:30pm and had to call out the AA the car had no power at all, I was so annoyed I contacted Evans Halshaw as well as we wanted the car taking there to be repaired. The manager said to take it before 5:00pm as they were closing then I said this would be impossible as the AA weren’t even there then. The AA finally arrived at 5:00pm so I phoned the manager back at Evans Halshaw and he said to bring it straight down and he would wait for us to arrive in the meantime I had asked for a courtesy car and the manager said sorry nothing we can do. I was boiling inside we had spent all this money on a car and on the first day of driving it we broke down as you can imagine to be told there is nothing that can be done as it was a Saturday we were extremely upset. We eventually arrived around 5:30 and the manager had left after promising us he would stay this made me even more annoyed .We were left with a young man who didn’t even know we were coming it was just lucky that someone was there. The AA man said I think I know what was wrong but need to take a part from one of these cars in the showroom to see if it was this fault it turned out that this was the problem (it was something where all the plugs plugged into) The garage said well keep this part and you can get on your way. I still don’t trust the car to go any distance as frightened of this happening again when I’m alone with two children. If you want names of people from Evans Halshaw you can speak to someone called Mark Pickering who knows all about it.
I’m wanting some form of compensation as this spoilt our weekend.

poor service
So this is my experience with Evans Halshaw Ford Main dealer in Preston. I bought a second hand Ford Mondeo in May 2009. When I picked it up I noticed that the stereo was faulty and it was eating CDs. I rang the salesman and he said to fetch it in and they would swap it on the spot for a replacement. So I made the 30 min drive over to Preston and went to...

I agree with the last post. Got the same treatment at Stockton citroen. But I did the walking
The car in question was over priced with marks on wheels. When I pointed this out I was told
told to expensive to repair. The. Under valuation they gave for my car was due to marks on wheels. The sales manager came over and was the worst in the world very arrogant and rude.
I told him and left. Now I own a better car with more spec cheaper screen price and £1500 better trade in price. Safe to say if they treat all there customers like this they won't last long.
