Evans Halshaw cheltenham sales

On Saturday 10th of October 2015 I went along to Cheltenham's Evans Halshaw to view a Peugeot RCZ priced at £12, 500, I was shown to the car by Steve Cook (salesman), I liked the car and agreed to buy it, I was taken to a desk and was asked all my personal details and agreed in principal the payment amounts and length of finance etc. I again said I was happy to go ahead and purchase the vehicle, Mr Cook said, "great, ok, hang on I will be back now", he then went over to a guy whom I think is the supervisor, who sits and oversees all the desks. Feeling bemused, he then returns and says, there is another customer looking at the same car at the moment, I am now thinking, is this a ruse to get me to pay more or something, Mr Cook then went out to the forecourt, leaving me sat at the desk. Getting really inpatient, I went to the supervisor guy and said "whats going on mate"?, I am ready to buy the car, lets sort it out", he said " have a seat, I will get Steve", the next thing Steve Cook returned, give me his card with his mobile number on and said "This other guy has put a deposit on the car online, but don't worry I will get rid of him so you can have the car, shoot off and I will give you a ring", he then went back to the other customer sat in the car. I left, he later contacted me and said the car is now sold, I think that either this other customer is known to them, is a cash buyer or was the winner in a bidding contest I have no idea, I only went there as it was where I bought my last car, had all the work done there including servicing and MOT's, . They made me feel stupid and really annoyed, as I am so fussy about my cars and it takes me a long time to find the one I want and realised it in this particular car, I will never, never, never have anything else to do with Evans Halshaw and their dodgy underhanded dealings again, how could I trust such a company !

Evans Halshaw renault clio bought july 2014

I bought a Renault Clio from Evans Halshaw of Lincoln in July 2014. Initially, they said they would put fuel in the car before I collected it. Upon collection the audible fuel warning was sounding. It turned out that the filler flap solenoid wasn't working even though they said fuel had just been put in the car, which was impossible. The following week they replaced the solenoid. I have just had the car MOTd and it failed as both front springs were broken. The person carrying out the MOT said they looked like they had been broken for a while! I had only done just over 2000 miles since the last MOT, carried out by Evans Halshaw.
The latest MOT also picked up that the brake pads were at a low 3mm thickness and the discs would also need replacing soon.
Taking into account the mileage I had done I think these items should have been picked up last year so how come Evans Halshaw missed them. Also that the clutch is at the top of its travel. Does anyone else, apart from me, think this smells a bit ?

Evans Halshaw misselling

My car has been broken into twice in the last 6 months, and we have only just found out that my BRAND new car (14 reg) doesn't come with an alarm? Nobody mentioned during the sale that the car didn't come with an alarm, the salesman just rushed the sale and never told us anything! Rang the dealer, and they have said as nobody has worked there longer than six months (my car's older than any of the new staff) so it's not their problem! Completely awful customer service, and frankly misselling as the salesman should have mentioned, according to the dealers own admission!

Evans Halshaw disappointing and full of lies

I was looking for a nice second hand vauxhall astra and I saw one in evan halshaw edinburgh, so went inside to speak to the sales man, he came across very friendly in the beginning and basically tricked me into buying a crap second hand car.
This was just the beginning, there were some problems with the car and he promised they will be sorted on the day i am picking up the car which was 7 days later, so the day arrived and when i went to the dealer they hadn't even moved the car from where it was parked week ago, NONE of the problems were sorted on the car and when I complained about it the sales man was VERY ROOD and literally told me it is not his problem any more, i had the car for 6 month and it was broken down for a good full month, costed me £800 to fix. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO EVAN HALSHAW NEVER EVER

You should have sued them for breaching the sales of goods act. If you have tangible proof of their broken promises, it's not too late. Get free advice from a solicitor. It's not too late. I'm having the same problems with them, but they are going to get more than they bargained for. I will take them to the cleaners and back legally.

Evans Halshaw bad service, rude people

Sales man Martin sold us a car with a soft drive shaft that just fell out of the gearbox, put the wrong bank details on the loan agreement after confirming 4 times that the bank details were the correct ones. They have had the car for 4 weeks meant to be fitting a new gearbox, however, they cannot give us an estimated time of when it will be ready and service manager Andy is very rude. DO NOT buy a car from here unless you want continued problems.

Evans Halshaw customer care

Purchased s/h Ford Galaxy 2011 in September 2014, at end of October rear door handle came off.
Contacted Evans Halshaw customer service dept. Booked in car at Cardiff branch, no work done because it would cost over 500 pounds. Told me they contacted Merthyr branch and they would ring me back. December no contact from Evans Halshaw Merthyr.
Again phone customer service dept, book me into Merthyr branch January this year. They looked at the door and refused to order the parts required and told me I have to pay for it. Contacted complaints departments, informed them of the sale of goods Act, emails told of 3 working day policy for contacting me.No reply or contact. Totally frustrated with this company. Will never buy a second hand car from this company again.
I am in the process of having the work done and taking Evans Halshaw Mertthyr to the small claims court to have my money reimbursed.

Evans Halshaw breakdown and recovery

purchased a car from Evans halshaw Preston. 10 miles from Carlisle it broke down and although I had purchased extended warranty and AA cover, I told the salesman on the Wednesday I would pick it up on the Sunday as that was the only day available to me and all the cover should have been in place? Eventually they told me that I could get green flag recovery to get it to a ford garage, it cost me £108 although they say that I can have a refund. The car is in the ford garage but can not do anything until evans halshaw contact them to day being the Monday. Mid-day now still nothing as happened, after I have contacted the company at least 5 times this morning. Car experience, stuck in the rain for 3 hours with £108 to pay for the pleasure so far and I had to do all the liaison between garages what have I paid for? The car valeting or should I say lack of it, the parcel shelf is goosed previous owners dirty sun glasses left in the vehicle holder, I mat left in the car, no securing bolt to hold the spare wheel in place and to complete this saga I was told the vehicle had 6 months warranty left before my extended one starts that's 30 months cover not the case just 2 years.
Will I buy from them again certainly not and the salesman should be dismissed for the incompetents.

Evans Halshaw misleading information, lies and fraudulent practices

Evans Halshaw Sheffield and Alphera Financial Services are dishonest Traders. I would not go near them for any reason. I went to Evans Halshaw Sheffield to buy a car on hire purchase and they did not do anything properly as prescribed by law. I bought the car for my husband and wanted it to be in his name so they advised he has to come in and sign the finance document. Evans Halshaw was aware from start that I was the purchaser and they asked me to sign the New Vehicle Order form as Purchaser which I did before they ordered the vehicle but now because they did not provide me with any of the documents or information as prescribed by law they now claim I was only negotiator. Even a negotiator has the right to Pre contract information etc as that is what should be provided to help them decide if they wanted the finance or not.

When I started I asked what the interest rate would be for taking out finance over 4 years and they said 2.99% fixed. I asked if there was any hidden charges I needed to know about and they said no but actually 2.99% was not he answer to my question as the real interest rate for taking out finance over 4 years was more than 11%. What they did was tell me the interest rate per annum when what I wanted was for 4 years

Then they got my husband to sign the finance documents and NEVER let him take away any of the finance document claiming they were not allowed to do that and only the finance company could do that and usually by post. They said that to my husband and also wrote it in a letter to us. Now they claim they gave all the documents to my husband after he signed them. They also claim they gave us documents they never gave us. We asked for proof and they claim a few weeks after we bought our car there was a catastrophic event that wiped off data from their system up till the next month

3 of the signed signatures are 100% clearly NOT my husband's signature. The person who signed on behalf of the company never administered any document to my husband.

We bought the car end of Sept 2014 brand New and We never got any finance document we signed because Evans Halshaw claimed the finance company had to give them to us. The finance company never sent them to us and when requested we got them 3 Nov 2014. We asked to be given the opportunity to exercise our statutory right of withdrawal within 14 days after receiving the contract but they refused and insisted on penalizing us since the 14 day withdrawal period had expired but truth is we never received any finance document till more than one month after we signed the documents. We wanted to withdraw because it was not what interest rate they told us that they wrote in the finance document which explains why they never gave us any finance document as prescribed by law

Its all so complicated and so I cannot put everything in writing. The only thing they did right was order the vehicle get my husband to sign the finance document and after that it has been lies upon lies and even gone as far as providing documents with signatures that are not my husband's signatures just to cover their back. The complaints Manager is something else. Distorting information and lots of lies just to cover their back. Alphera Financial Services supported everything Evans Halshaw their partner in crime have said regarding this issue.

I have taken this further and still awaiting a decision.

RUN RUN RUN away for your dear life anywhere you see Evans Halshaw or Alphera Financial Services as all they are waiting to do is take away your heard earned money through dishonest means and without regard to legislation. They have no regard for consumer rights at all

My Honest Advise
1. Do NOT have any dealings with Evans Halshaw or Alphera Financial Services as they are very dishonest
2. If you must Ask for APR before ever considering any dealing with them and if they dont give it RUN for your dear Life
3. Get everything in writing and INSIST on taking away EVERY single document you sign
4. Request for a Pre Contract Information and insist on taking it away before you ever sign any contract
5. Do NOT sign a contract without reading through the whole document. Specifically ask for the terms and conditions.

Just contact me if you need more information and I will explain further

Evans Halshaw newe mokka

Do not buy from them. They miss sell cars (New) then shelve responsibility. I am currently trying to get the matter resolved with vauxhall and gm. This issue has been outstanding since 31/07/2014. I have emailed the gm ceo mary barra.. Told that they expect uk vauxhall to solve. I have emailed tim tozer uk vauxhall ceo. They are not even attempting to solve the dealer issue. I have opened a case with consumer rights and have already sent them the final demand (7 days) and they still avoid the issue. Stay away from evens - the hp deal was signed on 24/07 and they only gave me the car on 25/07 not covering any of these so called special driving conditions to keep the engine light off.
I am currently driving the car with the engine light on... They tell me (Evans) that they do not know why the light goes on?

Evans Halshaw outright lies and safety issues

I purchased a brand new Dacia Sandero in March 2013. In August of 2013, There was a rattling noise coming from the front of the car. I took the car back to the dealer, after having booked a specified time, and was left waiting for 2 hours before my car was even moved into the workshop. The mechanic then wrongly diagnosed the problem as front shock absorbers bearings being at fault and needing replacing. I pointed out to him that the noise was much lower down on the car, but he insisted. I waited for 2 weeks until the part was delivered to the dealer and fitted to my car. Low and behold, it did not solve the problem. Further investigation found the real problem was the steering rack. When manufactured, the joints on the steering rack had not been greased sufficiently, and was dry and stiff. The mechanic said, and I quote, "The steering rack is not moving freely." Then went on to insist my car was still safe to drive. I was highly doubtful of this, and told him so. I said that a car that potentially cannot be steered properly, is far from safe, and also it would not meet MOT test standards, therefore leaving the car insurance policy null and void, and the driver (me) open to possible prosecution, let alone the potential risk to life and limb. When I called him out on his downright lie, he scuttled back into the workshop, leaving the service receptionist to deal with my outrage. Even the service manager would not speak to me, neither would the dealer principal. Their idea of customer service was to ignore me until I went away. Unfortunately that was also the attitude of Dacia customer services too. The steering rack was replaced under warranty, and is still fine nearly a year on. But the loan car the dealer provided for me, was dirty, dented, badly neede a service, and was full of rubbish. PLEASE stay away from Evans Halshaw, especially their dealership in Doncaster.

Update by Richard Bullock
Jan 24, 2016 6:36 am EST

Further to my complaint above, yesterday I received a telephone call from Evans Halshaw querying non payment of finance on my car. Finance I do not have. Finance I never had. I paid for the car in full on my debit card, which can easily proven by myself. The caller then said, maybe I had not been paying the monthly instalments on my service plan. Again I stated I do not have a service plan with them. I pay for work on my car as and when it needs to be done. So, they are either so clueless as to what is going on, or, they are deliberately trying to defraud me out of money they are not entitled to.

IF the management of Evans Halshaw Doncaster are reading this, then do NOT make an enemy of me, as I swear to everything that I hold dear, you WILL regret it!

I purchased a car from evans halshaw which i didnt now. The customer service is zero. I arranged with their headquarters to view a car paid the deposit. When i arrived the car wasnt there. No phone call no email. I wasted the journey plus a days overtime at work. Soon as they have your money that dont give a damn. Its all about what they want. I viewed the car it was filthy had lots of scratches on it. The dealer replied if you want an ammaculate car then pay more! Disgusting. They left the car in my drive i told them i would not be at home. No keys apparently the driver didnt feel it would be safe to leave them behind. I had to ring them to find that out. They brought the keys when i returned at 2100 hrs and expected me to view and sign for the car in the dark! Avoid them.

Evans Halshaw selling un roadworthy cars

I bought a car july 2014 from even halshaw in leeds picked it up day after all excited to drive it home. We went for a meal that night and on getting ready to leave the restaurant and drive home we noticed the main lights on the car were not working so had to manage without. The next day the air conditioning wasn't working either as you can imagine was quite miffed as was a new car we had bought. I phoned the garage and booked for it repairing asking why these hadn't been checked before the car was sold on to us and got told these things happen, after having my car all day was then told air conditioning wasn't just the gas needed a new part as condenser had gone completely again was surprised at this as only had car a day. I booked the car in 3 days later to have them ring day before and cancel again not happy as rearranged all my day but changed appointment to 3 days later only for someone to ring me on the Friday morning to find out where i was ? I asked to speak with the manager who I was told was a busy man I left 3 messages over a week to speak to the manager Simon Fletcher who obviously was far to busy to respond to a customer . Over a week later and 70 miles back and forth my car was in again for air con fixing only to get a phone call half way through the day to say the man who was fixing the car could'nt get in the bonnet so pulled it open only to break the clips on my bonnet so now had to send for parts to fix bonnet this car was 2 weeks old and had now been in garage 3 times. I rang the company to complain about all the messing about and inconvenience to be told things happen not our problem. Finally after losing my temper the manager finally decided to ring to basically tell me in a very condescending voice that things go wrong with cars that's life. I asked in a very nice manner if they had my car and they wasn't willing to give me a courtesy car how was i supposed to get to work at 7am the next day again was told not my problem love. To be honest i have never ever experienced such bad manners and rudeness and to come from a manager of a big car dealer is appalling the whole staff of Evan
Halshaw should either be re trained in customer service or sacked what an awful rude company would never recommend to anyone.

I totally agree with this lady but I have come to think that this is how all companies in this country work now and even virgin media are just as bad you get no where in this country trying to get problems with companies unless you are prepared to lodge a complaint and chase it up. When I bought my car from the garage I was not given time to remove all my personal belongings that I wanted from the old car so arranged to go back the next day, only to find that the items had been stolen when I reported this to service manager he behaved as if I was lying to him as he said his staff would not do that and car was secured in Garage compound but before the old car had been sent to auctions his cleaning staff had been given chance to check it over. So I can only assume they are who took items but service manager would not accept this.

Evans Halshaw they damaged my van

Hi i booked my van in for a simple warranty claim (ford badges) it should have been a simple 10 minute job. I waited for my vehicle for 1 hour 45 mins to then be told the rear badge is out of stock and they damaged the van removing the front badge. I was not happy as it cost me money as i should have been working, they said they left me waiting as they were trying to get it repaired while i was waiting with out my permission, anyway they failed at this and sent me away with a damaged grill and no front badge. I was then told 3 days later to come in and wait for them to repair and replace the badges i said i would need a replacement vehicle as i cannot let this situation cost me more money due to lost work or i could come any day at 4.00. They could'nt do this so i asked to speak to someone in charge. This has not happened and i have rang ford u.k but they have also failed to contact the principle or any manager. So far i have spent over 3 1/2 hours dealing with this situation. So they damaged my van and i have to pay for it. STAY AWAY FROM EVANS HALSHAW CARDIFF

Evans Halshaw used cars

Bought two cars in two years. The first one, a Mazda RX8 I had to scrap after 8 months due to engine failure, the second, an Audi A4, is now, after just over one year, having extensive engine repair. Evans appear to be quite obstructive and unhelpful to say the least. They have not yet offered any assistance with the problem apart from requesting an independent report which they have not even offered to finance. I would like advice on what options are now available to me as both cars were cash purchases. Many thanks for your assistance.

Evans Halshaw loss of phone

I am copying in an email i sent weeks ago - have not heard anything since march

I am sending you a copy of the email as requested about a complaint I logged numerous times with the dealership directly. The original call to notify me about the fact they had the phone was from stuart and then manager Martin was meant to be investigating. I spoke to him a couple of times and he reassured me that he would investigate as there were other issues. After contacting the dealerships on numerous occasions and leaving messages he has choose to ignore this. It is clear that they found the phone, told me it was in the post. He then tried to tell me it was not charging as they had plugged it in. It was completely flat and clearly of high value as it is an IPHONE. When I called back weeks later as I had not received it Stuart informed me it was left in a drawer and he did not know where it was now as he had been off work on holiday. Martin was investigating.

I am appalled that I have been lied to and deliberately ignored. This is theft and I would either like the phone back or compensation for it.

I appreciate that this matter will be dealt with promptly

Evans Halshaw complete incompetence and dangerous cars

3 weeks ago I visited EH in Grantham to trade in my car and buy another as I have a growing family. A very pleasant salesman assisted me look at a car on their approved second hand forecourt, this car is badged as ready to drive away today and was presented valeted and ready to go. We took it for a test drive and here is where the problems started, the car pulled violently to one side under breaking, the suspension banged at the slightest bump and the engine management light was on. Funnily enough I told the salesman this is not for us. It apparently had a brand new MOT in the least few days and he couldn't understand why they had placed a car for sale that was unroadworthy and dangerous and allowed me to test drive it . The salesman went away and got his boss to agree to fix everything before we took it away I could test drive it again once fixed and pay the balance. In the meantime i left a £400 deposit and was told to come back in 3 days to collect the car as it would be repaired, I was happy with this as all the faults were easily explainable and repairable. I came back 3 days later and they knew nothing of me or the collection. I raised my concerns and was promised the general manager would call me to explain, I called everyday for the next 5 days and could not get to talk to him each day promising he would call back and nothing, I eventually rang one day and asked will he speak to me and the receptionist said no so I had to visit the dealership and front up to these people face to face after I great deal of shouting the other potential car buyers all left the dealership he admitted they still hadn't started to repair the car because they had more important collections than mine. I queried who had MOT'd the car was it evans halshaw and he wouldn't answer my questions. I demanded a refund and guess what 7 days later I still don't have the refund for my deposit. Evans halshaw are dangerous cars dealers, they sent me out on a test drive with a dangerous unroadworthy car that could have killed me or other road users/ pedestrians. They present these cars for sale claiming it safe to drive and presenting it ready to drive away. All their bluster about 100 point checks in this case was lies as there is no way this car would have passed an MOT or been approved as safe to drive. Avoid them like the plague. The are the worst sort of second car cowboys. The local managers are cowards and will not address their clients concerns and take no ownership of a problem, they would make great recyclers they take junk make it look nice and sell it as something it's not. I wish I had found this site before visiting their showroom. I am just glad I survived .

Evans Halshaw car sale

We wanted to purchase a vehicle which was coming on sale whilst we were on holiday and out of the country. Evans halshaw said we could do this by transferring the money to them for the sale date. They gave us the account details and reference, arranged an appointment to collect the vehicle on our return and said it would be taken off sale. The transfer was arranged and they were informed it was all set up prior to us going away. 2 days before the sale date we got an email in tunisia saying they had sold it to someone else. They kept our money for 5 days and we did not get the car we had agreed on and paid for. The emails and conversations were inconsistent and we do not believe anything we have been told. Scandalous behaviour from what we thought was a reputable company!

Evans Halshaw misleading information

I had very very terrible service at this company.
At two different branches

Hemel hempstead
Milton keynes

The car bought from this company did not last but was able to get a decent price for it. Few months later spotted a leak, took the car back and the night mares began.

The first time i went told me that there was nothing wrong.

Went again they found the leak i was talking about and had it service

I went to get car fixed told needed new radiator.
Lady at the parts desk was rude and horrible person. Sorry we have none in stock and told me i would need to order and come back again. (Meaning i would have to pay more for labor and come back again) lucky i had a family friend who was working there at the time, told me they did it and had it fixed the same day. Show that the company try to take your money but giving misleading information.

The people at this company are forceful when it come to selling cars and there over priced products that are not even good. May seem nice when your buying but all they want is to take all the money you have.

The people at help desk are rude and ignore you. The people who work for this company are judge you on the way you look, they target people who look like they have more money to spend. Seen with my own eyes. I was waiting to seen but they decided to serve a posh looking man who came in after me instead.

This company is suppose to be offering great vaule " everyday low prices" and good service. I feel like i have been mislead and cheated again.

Over priced service
Over price parts
Sales rep like to give false information
Rude service at help desk
Rude people in general when you have complaint

I have never come across such horrific customer service in my life, i am a honest person who just wanted good service and have my car fixed. But what i got was rude, unhelpful, money grabbing, unfriendly and forceful. With the experience i had i would not recommend. If you do go make sure have proof in what they have told you cause they like to mislead customer with false information.

Or save over for a good car from somewhere else

Pity I did not see this complaint's site previously as I purchased my daughter a 2007 Fiesta and then found that the Drivers/Audio/Service handbooks had been lost by them when I went to pick it up. Various things had not been put right but I was told the salesperson would deal with it on his return from leave, which ended up being two weeks. As this was a main dealer I was stupid enough to believe them. They dont respond to phone calls and one of the major issues was that the rear bumper had a two inch split under the hatch which was difficult to spot as the retaining bolt had been removed thus allowing the split to come together. I also paid for a 12 month guarantee and on a second visit saw a sign saying that their used cars came with a three month guarantee. On asking why I was sold a 12 month guarantee when three months were free, I was told that the three month guarantee was only for their approved second hand cars! Still working my way up the complkaints ladder but this is not the service level I would expect from a major dealer (St Albans). Similat to a PPI mis-sell so will talk to Tradind Standards later.

Evans Halshaw vauxhall insignia

Bought a vauxhall Insignia from Evans Halshaw Mount Pleasant Hull, just over a year ago. The car is only 3 years old and 6 days out of its warranty developed a major fault which could be cracked cylinder head which should not have happened to a car this age. Vauxhall and Evans Halshaw wont do anything towards the cost of repairs which could be anything from £2000 - £5000 as it may need a new engine. So beware of these sharks only to keen to take your money but do nothing if anything goes wrong. Would not buy another vauxhall or deal with Evans Halshaw again. You have been warned.

i bought a 3 year old ford focus titanium 5 weeks ago from the wrexham branch,
i liked the car, on the test drive i noticed the steering wheel shaking at around 50to60, mph, which the salesman sitting in the back seat of the car agreed,
he said it would be sorted, amongst other things, like white paint splashes in side and out
of the car, offside alloy was badily scuffed, so i checked the car before driving home, yes the alloy was sorted but they had not done a very good job on the valleting, in places, the
paint was still there, so the salesman said to bring it back in and he would have it re-valleted, i said ok so on the way home the steering wheel started to shake, the next day i rang them up and explained, so i took it back 1 week later, they have now told me the alloy is actually buckled, and they are saying this is my fault, i must have gone into a pothole Rubbish, i have been back 5 times in 4 weeks of buying the car for several problems, of which a couple of them have been sorted, Andy.
