Mind-Blowing Performance and Unbeatable Fun: A Review of EVELO Electric Bikes
Me and my wife Nancy, we got ourselves the fully loaded Aries (for me) and the smaller Aurora for her a few months back after watching the cool videos on your site, and we gotta say, we're even more stoked about 'em than we thought we would be.
Man, what a blast! The performance was out of this world! Your web videos made 'em look awesome, but the actual ride was beyond our wildest dreams! Everything about 'em -- the super easy and smooth gear shifting, the throttle (so handy for kickin' it into gear when goin' uphill), the control panel, the sweet front shocks and the rear shocks on my Aries (which I adjusted a bit to make the ride smoother), the wind in your face with barely any effort - it was mind-blowing. We've never experienced pedaling so effortlessly while zoomin' up steep hills. The electric motor is so sneaky, and quiet. It's like walkin' on one of those moving walkways at the airport - you walk as fast as you want, but you go twice as fast! Ridin' on flat ground feels like you're glidin' downhill! You can easily adjust the settings to put just enough muscle power into ridin' to get a killer workout - but compared to a regular bike, our electric ones take us way farther and faster without the occasional struggle of pedalin' uphill. Just a heads up: 'cause they're a bit heavier than regular bikes, be careful gettin' on and off. But the motor makes the extra weight feel like nothin'.
Since ridin' these babies is so dang FUN!, we find ourselves ridin' a whole lot more. It's nothin' to knock out 25 miles in the mornin' on New Hampshire's beautiful rail trails, or cruise along the Maine coast with its amazin' beaches, shops, seafood, lobster! And to get to these places, we highly recommend the Kuat hitch bike racks; we were seriously impressed with how well they're built, how stable they are, how easy they are to use, and how functional they are. Riders should also think about gettin' a helmet-mounted Bluetooth intercom to chat while ridin'--it makes the fun multiply!
Big props to EVELO for makin' such kickass products! Your customer service for any small issues or questions has been top-notch -- fast, quick, and super helpful responses. A huge thank you from two "1,000%-satisfied" customers.
Shady Company with Terrible Customer Service: Avoid Their Electric Bikes!
If you're lookin' for an electric bike, ya better stay away from this company, they're real shady and only care 'bout makin' a sale. I bought one of their Aurora Limited bikes with the fancy-schmancy enviolo automatic transmission for a whopping $3,800. Before I made the purchase, I talked to one of their agents on the phone and they assured me that the bike was in tip-top shape, nothin' wrong with it at all. They even said it only had 6 miles on it 'cause it was just used for test rides. But let me tell ya, when I got the bike, it was nothin' but trouble.
First off, the CO controller on the handlebar, which is supposed to control the cadence and connect to the rear transmission hub through Bluetooth, was busted. And if that wasn't bad enough, the automatic transmission gearbox was also broken. So basically, nothin' was workin' the way it was supposed to. I called the company to complain, and they were all like, "Don't worry, we'll give ya a full refund. Just send the bike back to us." So I did, but let me tell ya, it took 'em a whole three weeks to receive the bike 'cause they kept makin' excuses. One guy was supposedly in Hawaii, and the other one was out sick. Yeah, right.
Finally, when they did get the bike, they took their sweet time inspectin' it for a whole week. And then, they had the audacity to only give me back $3,400. Can ya believe it? They had the nerve to charge me a $400 restockin' fee for a bike that was all messed up and had broken parts. I told 'em that was totally unacceptable, but they didn't give a hoot. So I had to take matters into my own hands and file a dispute with my bank and the BBB. The dispute is still goin' on, and let me tell ya, this company couldn't care less 'bout customer service. They only care 'bout bein' right, not doin' right by the customer.
So take my advice and stay far away from their electric bikes. They slap on cheap parts and then try to sell 'em for a fancy price. Do yourself a favor and avoid all the headache and terrible customer service that I had to deal with. Hopefully, this review can help someone out there. If it does, at least I did some good.
Finding Freedom and Adventure with the EVELO E-Bike: A Life-Changing Experience!
FREEDOM! That's what I've been feelin' ever since I got my hands on an EVELO E-Bike! A few years back, I had a real bad accident while workin' as a firefighter, and it messed me up pretty good. Ended up havin' to quit the job I loved and my whole life took a turn. But stayin' active is super important when you're dealin' with chronic pain, both for your body and your mind. Problem is, findin' an activity that doesn't put too much strain on ya can be a real challenge. But then, one day, I was chattin' with a buddy of mine about e-bikes, and it got me curious. That's when I stumbled upon the EVELO website, and let me tell ya, it was a goldmine of info about e-bikes in general, not just their own products. I even had a chat with Boris, the big boss man himself, and he convinced me that the EVELO Aurora was the bike for me.
Now, I hadn't ridden a bike in over 25 years, so I was a bit nervous about gettin' back on one, especially with my injuries. But all those worries vanished after my first ride. This bike is somethin' else, I tell ya! On that very first ride, I cruised over 30 miles along the C&O Canal, and I didn't even realize I was givin' my cyclist brother a run for his money. The crazy thing is, I was just pedalin' away, blissfully unaware of the tough terrain and the fact that I was keepin' up a 15mph speed in freezing 32 degree weather for a good ten miles!
What does my new EVELO bike mean to me? It means FREEDOM! It means I can get some low-impact exercise without puttin' too much strain on my body, and I can do it more often too. It means I can explore more of the world around me, 'cause this bike lets me cover greater distances without wearin' myself out. But you know what's really mind-blowin'? I used to look for short routes to ride 'cause I was always tired and scared of more pain. But now, I'm searchin' for the longest routes I can find, without a care in the world. My EVELO e-bike has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me, and the only thing that limits me now is my own imagination.
Great Customer Service, but Bike is a Huge Letdown: Unreliable Components and Frustrating Issues
Customer service is great, but the bike itself is a huge letdown. When we first received the bike, there was this annoying rattle coming from the motor component. It sounded like a broken screw or something. Despite the rattle, the bike looked nice and was comfortable for my petite wife. She really liked the style and how it rode. But that darned rattle just ruined it.
Luckily, the customer service was really helpful. They gave us some suggestions to fix the problem, but in the end, they agreed to send us a replacement. So we had to spend a good part of an afternoon padding and re-boxing the original bike to send it back. The second bike arrived and we assembled it, but then we encountered problems with the controller. It wouldn't shift properly and would turn off and on by itself. Imagine my wife riding up a hill and suddenly the bike shuts down, no more pedal assist, lights, or anything. It was frustrating, to say the least. Sometimes the bike would work, other times it wouldn't.
But again, the customer service was top-notch. They arranged to send us a new controller and even found a local bike shop to make the repairs. So we had to wait a couple more weeks without a bike, but we thought it would be worth it. My wife really loved the bike, and we believed that this fix would solve the problem once and for all.
Finally, the bike was fixed and we rode it without any issues for several weeks. My wife had a big, big smile on her face while riding this beautiful machine. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we weren't able to ride for about 4 weeks. Our bikes just sat in the garage, waiting for us. Then, on a Saturday morning when we were ready to ride to the market, we discovered that the Galaxy 500 had no back brakes and the front brake was very spongy. It turned out there was air in the brake lines. Can you believe it? This bike only had around 200 miles on it!
In comparison, I have a competitor's e-bike that cost half as much as this one, and it has over 1200 miles on it without any major issues (except for one flat tire). All the electronics, components, and brakes on that bike are working perfectly fine, even though I ride it hard. I've taken it on dirt trails, gravel roads, and even jumped curbs. On the other hand, my wife's Galaxy bike has never been off city streets, and yet it keeps giving us problems.
I'm just so sick and tired of missing out on riding opportunities because my wife's bike doesn't work properly. I have to give credit where it's due, and the customer service deserves 5 stars. The style, size, and design of the bike also deserve 5 stars. However, when it comes to the reliability of the components and the overall bike, it gets zero stars. So, my overall rating for this bike is 2 stars.
My advice to anyone considering buying an electric bike is to go for another brand unless you enjoy frustration and disappointment.
Review: EVELO Aurora Bike - Great Customer Service, Comfortable Ride, Some Motor Assistance Issues
My experience with the EVELO Aurora bike can be described like this: EVELO's website did a good job describing the bike, and their customer service was top-notch. They even went above and beyond by sending me a brand new bike when I had only ordered a refurbished one. The refurbished bike they had couldn't meet their standards, so they made it right. They even paid a local bike shop to fix a problem I had with a clicking sound when riding the bike. They also gave me a $25 store credit for the trouble. The bike is just as they described it, but I would recommend that anyone buying a bike, especially an electric one, should try it out first to make sure it's the right fit for them.
The Aurora was the perfect bike for me. I wanted a comfortable bike that could handle the hills around my home in the Smoky Mountains. It had to have a comfortable seat and an upright riding position, unlike those racing bikes where you have to bend over. I added a 2-inch extension to the handlebars, but I couldn't extend it any further because of the wiring.
One of the best features of the Aurora is the NuvVinci N360 continuously variable transmission. It does add some weight to the bike, but it's worth it. Along with the 3 levels of pedal assist and a throttle, it gives me plenty of power for the hills. The Samsung battery performs well, and even the saddle, which I thought I would have to replace, turned out to be just fine. I did install a Thudbuster LT shock absorber seat post, but it made the seat too high for me to easily get on and off the bike. I also liked the step-through design, which helps with that issue.
My main problem with the Aurora was the cadence assist motor assistance. There's a delay before the motor kicks in after you start pedaling. This delay is most noticeable when you're trying to mount the seat, which can be a bit frustrating. I would have preferred a torque assist, where the motor kicks in based on the pressure you apply to the pedals.
The disk brakes are a nice addition that you don't always find on electric bikes. They come in handy in hilly areas, especially considering the weight of the bike. The lockout shock on the front is also of good quality and adds to the overall comfort of the ride.
Stoked about my new EVELO Aries bike: Epic customer service and a game-changer in my daily life!
Thank you so much to everyone at EVELO, I'm really diggin' my new Aries bike, man. I've already put in over 177 miles on these bad boys, and let me tell ya, with every pedal I push, I'm even more stoked about my new ride. I've been cruisin' a solid 22 miles a day, bro. Now I can go farther, tackle gnarly hills, and conquer moderate terrain that used to be a total pain in the butt, especially livin' up in the high elevation of my city. I'm lookin' forward to many more years of rad adventures on my EVELO bike.
EVELO is a wicked cool company based outta Boston that sells their own upgraded version of a product line that's made and sold outside the USA under different brand names. But what sets EVELO apart, dude, are two major things. First, their customer support and service is off the charts, man. They're right here in the good ol' USA, takin' care of business. And second, EVELO is the only company sellin' these foreign-made bikes with upgraded components like NuVinci, the latest display panel, Alfine tensioner, and all that jazz. These bikes are solidly built and a blast to ride.
But let me tell ya, the best thing about EVELO is their epic customer service, bro.
I've had a bunch of questions and have gone back and forth with their super knowledgeable staff through email. They've made my whole buying experience a total blast, man. Seriously, this is what sets you guys apart from the competition. If it weren't for your top-notch customer service and speedy email responses, I might've considered goin' with another company. But I'm stoked I didn't, man. I might even snag another bike for when my friends come visit me here in Vermont, or maybe even start my own rental business with these sick rides.
This ain't just a regular ol' bike, man. It's become my second set of wheels, bro. With the on-demand power, I use this baby for errands that used to be a total pain in the rear. I can honestly say I haven't touched my car in three weeks when I only need to get around by myself. It's not just a change in technology, man, it's a whole shift in my mindset.
Big shoutout to Alex, Bill, Nancy, John, and David for answerin' all my emails. You guys made all the difference in this sale, and maybe even in future ones too. I seriously love this product, man.
If you're feelin' a bit nervous about buyin' a bike without seein' it in person from EVELO, don't sweat it, bro. Just ask EVELO for a test ride from one of their ambassadors in your area. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
Evelo Aurora Electric Bike: A Game-Changer for Couples Riding Together
Wow... I just got my wife's Aurora from Evelo after like 6 months of researching and let me tell you, it's just... WOW! You might be wondering why I got my wife a bike, well, I wanted her to ride with me at my speed and actually enjoy it!
So, I reached out to some friends in the Netherlands who had electric bikes and asked them how they liked them and what I should be looking for. They gave me all the info they had. And let me tell you, there are more bikes per person in the Netherlands than here in America. Then, I went to bike shops and did a bunch of web searching to find out more about this new product line-up.
What I discovered was Evelo, a company that is way ahead in developing electric bikes with powerful motors.
When it arrived, I was like 'ugh', another thing to put together. But guess what? It only took me 20 minutes to assemble it! I decided to wait until the next day to ride it because I wanted to make sure the battery was fully charged.
The next morning, I got up, adjusted the seat height to my level (I'm 6'2" and 250lbs, a sleek riding machine - ha ha... just kidding, I'm just an old guy who loves riding) and off I went. I started with the low assist mode and easily cruised at 15mph while pedaling. Then I switched to the middle level and pedaled a bit less while my speed increased. Finally, I tried the top level and barely pedaled as I cruised at around 20mph. And let me tell you, I also got the CVT transmission! I can't believe this isn't a standard feature on every bike, electric or not! The shifting was smooth, no clanking or gear difficulties.
Sure, this bike is a bit heavier than traditional bikes, but it's really well-built. I bought it for my wife, but I have to admit that since she got it, there hasn't been a day where I've had more fun and ridden more miles than ever before... on HER bike! Bring on the headwinds! And riding with her? It's the perfect balance, she ends up being my 'pace car'!
Oh, did I mention the customer service? Yeah, we all have choices when it comes to where we buy things, but not all companies are the same. The real difference lies in how they treat their customers, and let me tell you, Evelo is top-notch when it comes to communication.
Usually, I buy my wife things that she loves and I'm just indifferent about. But after 37 years of marriage, this is something I bought for her that I'm actually jealous of! Will I buy another bike from Evelo? Well, that's not a bad idea at all, I'd say!
Game-Changing Electric Bike: My Experience with the Evelo Aurora
So, like, last July me and my wife went on this vacation, right? And guess what? We had this awesome chance to do an electric bike tour in Victoria, BC. It was my first time trying out electric assist bikes, and let me tell you, it was a blast! When we got back home, I was so stoked about it that I immediately started looking into getting my own ebike. I'm pushing 60, but hey, I'm still young at heart, you know? The only thing holding me back was my weight. I've always been into biking, but never really got in shape to go long distances. I realized that my days of riding without any help were long gone, like 40 years ago and a bunch of pounds ago. So, I figured, why not give electric bikes a shot? It's all about getting some exercise, right?
Now, I live in Minneapolis and my workplace is about 12 miles away, but there are some killer hills and smaller ones that can really make you sweat, man. I didn't want my heart pounding out of my chest every ten minutes, you feel me? I needed some assistance to make biking enjoyable again. So, I did some research on the internet and remembered how much fun I had on that electric bike tour. I checked out the two biggest bike stores in the Twin Cities, but none of their ebikes really impressed me. Some were cheaper, some were way more expensive than the Evelo Aurora that caught my eye. It just looked so solid, you know? Like it could handle an old dude like me. I loved the tire size, the lower middle bar, and all the options it had. And having a mid-drive motor just made sense to me. Plus, the Nuvinci CVT transmission thing sounded pretty cool. I'm into that kind of tech stuff, man. I talked to this guy Boris a couple of times and sent him a bunch of emails with my questions. He was super helpful and supportive, so I decided to take the plunge.
Let me tell you, the Aurora looks even better in person, dude. I swapped out the seat for a softer one and added a neck extension to make the seating position more upright. Putting it together was a piece of cake, man. I was ready to roll in no time.
Now, I'm riding my Aurora to work and back home like three or more times a week. I had to find a safe bike route to work, which added a few extra miles to my commute, but who cares, right? Battery life hasn't been an issue at all. The more I ride, the more I figure out how to use this awesome ebike, and the less I rely on the battery. The 250 watt motor is all this baby needs, man. It keeps the battery going for longer.
Oh, and let me give a shoutout to their customer support. Whether you email them or give them a call, they're super quick to respond. I had a question once, and they even sent me a video showing me how to do this easy thing I was asking about. And if you ever need maintenance or a tune-up, you can take your bike to a local bike store.
I'm not usually the type to write reviews for everything I buy, man. This is probably only my third one ever. But I just had to share my positive experience with Evelo and my Aurora ebike. It's been a total game-changer for me. Thanks, guys!
Evelo Electric Bike: A Dream Ride for Seniors - Powerful, Versatile, and Life-Changing
Evelo is a real good company, I gotta say. I wasn't scared to buy online 'cause the reviews were helpful and Alex, David, and John were real patient and detailed when they answered all my questions. I spent a lotta time on their website, checkin' out the bikes and I liked how you could choose one based on your needs and how you sit on it.
When my Aurora Small arrived, it was packed up real good and all the parts for assembly were there. The bike looked real nice and everything was put together real well. I went for the fully loaded model with the NuVinci N380 Transmission, 500 W motor, and the extended range 48 V 14.5 AH Panasonic Battery. Now, I'm 72 years old and weighin' 270 lbs, but let me tell ya, this bike is a dream. I can easily go up them long, steep hills in my area without breakin' a sweat. The power on this thing is somethin' else.
One thing I really like is how the motor is in the middle of the bike, makin' room for the NuVinci transmission in the rear hub. They work together real well, helpin' me out when I need it. The pedal assist is great too. I usually set it at 3 or sometimes 4, but if I need a sudden burst of power, I can use the separate throttle. And ya know what? I like how I can use the throttle even before I start pedalin'. It helps me keep my balance and get goin' safely.
The brakes on this bike are top-notch. Even though they're manual disc brakes, they stop the bike real quick. I set the front brake to be a bit weaker than the rear brake, so I don't go flyin' over the handlebars when I gotta stop suddenly. When I hit the brakes, the motor cuts off right away, and when I start pedalin' again, it kicks back on with just a quarter turn. It's real smooth.
The frame of the bike is painted real nice and it's designed real well for strength and function. I also like the lights they added to the bike. Although, I gotta say, the front light was pointin' up too high for my likin'. So, I bent the front fender's mounting frame down a bit to make it look better and angle the light down properly. I mounted the front fender as far back as I could and then used some velcro to reduce the wobblin' and make the light shine steady.
I also got myself a handlebar rearview mirror. I always use one 'cause it helps me keep an eye on the cars behind me and makes my ride safer.
Since I got this bike, I've had a bunch of people askin' me about it. Some of 'em are world travelers who know about electric bikes. They all stared at it and some even took a second look before walkin' away. As an older person, this bike is a no-brainer for me. It's a real versatile workhorse, and I use it for a lot of my errands. My legs are stronger now, and my arthritis in my legs, arms, and neck ain't as painful anymore. Thanks to my Evelo bike, I can keep up with the young folks in my family and even pass 'em when we're goin' up a hill.
Now, let me tell ya, no matter what bike you get, you gotta adjust it to fit you right. Once I did that with this bike, I knew it was the one for me. I said to myself, "Now this is the bike I like. This is MY bicycle."
Evelo Aurora Electric Bike Review: Perfect for Seniors, Great Features, and Excellent Support
I recently bought an Evelo Aurora and after 150 miles on the odometer, I really love it. In summary, although you can get less expensive electric bikes I don't think you can get a cheaper and better ebike. Too, the Evelo Aurora's features are particularly useful for seniors like myself.
I'm going to provide some background information on why I chose the Aurora, my experience with Evelo, and some things that you might take into account in your decision.
Background
I'm a 65 year old male, 6'2' and 220 lbs.. I've enjoyed biking as a commuter over the years, and recently was told by my orthopedic surgeon to stop running because of an arthritic knee. Additionally, I recently moved to a very mountainous rural area. Walking hasn't had huge appeal for me, and I've been struggling to find a way to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise.
Enter electric bikes. I read about them and tried four different models at regional dealers. I was intrigued but not sold. Doing online research, I discovered Evelo. I liked their corporate values, and clarity in describing what they were offering and why. The seven day trial with free shipping and return caused me to give Evelo a try.
Free returns?
I'll pause for a moment to mention that once I put the bike together (not too hard), I realized that repacking the bike for return would be pretty challenging, should I not want it. So, once having purchased and assembled the Evelo, you'd have to be really dissatisfied with the bike to take it apart, repack and ship it back to Evelo. There's a strong incentive to make it work, and Evelo will bend over backward to help you with this. I think they really, truly want you to love your Evelo bike.
Astonishingly good tech support
The quality of Evelo's support is astonishing and wonderful. The staff are friendly, really knowledgeable from their own use of the bikes, unfailingly helpful, and encouraging. Imagine a good friend who owns the same bike as yours, who really wants to help you, and has all the time you need. That's what Evelo support is like. Evelo staff has helped me with adjusting the bike, comparing other bikes, and choosing accessories. Evelo support is a meaningful and important differentiator from other offerings. However, you might not need this high level of support if you have a good local bike shop.
There's a bit of a conundrum here. Unless you're pretty good mechanically, I think you'll need a local bike shop to provide support, and if you have such a bike shop you may not need Evelo's support so much. I certainly have hugely benefited from my local bike mechanic's adjustments to the brakes, seat and handlebars, and like Evelo I advise other purchasers to have the bike fine-tuned locally.
Evelo vs local dealer
So why buy the Evelo instead of from a local dealer? For me there were two reasons: features and cost.
I'm intensely loyal to my community, and looked there first for an ebike. In fact I would have paid another $500 over the cost of the Evelo if I could have bought it locally. But they didn't have what I wanted, which is essentially my Evelo setup which includes:
A step through design, as I cannot swing my leg over the seat to mount a bike.
A powerful mid mount motor that works with the bike's gears, instead of a hub motor. I have the 500 watt version, and I can take long, steep hills at a respectable speed.
The Nuvinci shifter, which is much easier to use than derailleurs and usually does not require adjustments.
Both adjustable pedal assist AND a throttle. I like the pedal assist to calibrate my level of effort, and the throttle to enable me to take a break now and then while still moving. The throttle also is helpful for applying small amounts of power for maneuvering (I've found the pedal assist sometimes a little disconcerting when just starting up, or in tight turns).
Many bikes offer some of the above. I didn't find ebikes available locally that had all of the above, so I bought online from Evelo.
The Evelo also comes with many accessories (fenders, kickstand, front and rear lights, rack) which not all ebikes have. These are not core elements of the bike and always can be added, but do figure into an apples to apples price comparison.
Speaking of price, my estimate is that one could easily pay an additional $1,000 to get a bike configured the same as the Evelo Aurora I bought. Note that Evelo often offers sales or deals; I saved $200 this way.
Cons
Are there any weak points? I found the included rack to be not very useful, almost an afterthought--it's tiny and holds only 10 lbs. Another bike I looked at has a rack that holds 55 lbs, by way of comparison. Evelo staff helped me to find an easily added rack that holds 20 lbs for about $40. That solved the problem.
As a fairly big guy, it's been challenging to get the bike set up for comfortable riding. If I lean too far forward (as is required to hold onto the stock handlebars, even with a stem extender), my weight shifts from my 'sit bones' to the tender nether tissues, causing considerable discomfort. Evelo staff have been helpful (providing encouragement, advice and additional hardware at no charge), and my local bike mechanic is working with me to get a good fit. I'm confident this will work out.
My bike mechanic mentioned that there are higher grade brakes than those that Evelo chose. However, I've used the Evelo Aurora disk brakes on long, steep hills (literally, the sides of the mountains where I live) and they work fine.
Note that the Evelo warranty does not include labor after 30 days. I think there are good reasons for this, but purchasing from a local bike shop might give you a longer parts AND labor warranty.
Tips
A couple of tips:
Get the rear view mirror Evelo offers as an accessory on their website. It works wonderfully, and I feel much safer with it.
Triple thickness inner tubes, replacing the original tubes, will make it less likely that you'll get a flat.
You can attach a plastic crate to the rack with zip ties (or to an aftermarket rack, as I did), so you can easily carry groceries etc.
You may be able to add your bike to your homeowner's insurance. I did so for $20/year. By naming it specifically in the policy ('scheduling' it), the bike is not subject to the deductible if stolen.
The pedal assist senses your cadence, not how hard you are pushing. One implication of this is that you don't have to push really hard unless you want to for the exercise. If you like you can push just hard enough to activate the assist. The determining factor for the assist provided by the motor is how fast you're moving the pedals, not how hard you're pushing.
Realize that the throttle and the pedals are independent means of adjusting the power the motor provides. You can be pedalling and add a touch of throttle while still pedaling for a boost, or use just the pedals, or just the throttle. The power provided by the throttle seems to not be affected by the level of pedal assist (from a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 5). However, if pedal assist is set to 0 the throttle doesn't work. I've experimented with using just the throttle at maximum and adjusting the speed with the Nuvinci shifter. It's well worth practicing and experimenting with the throttle, shifter and pedal assist settings to find what works best for you.
Consider using the throttle for delicate maneuvers like tight turns while going slow, as you can better adjust the level of motor assist this way.
Conclusion
Overall, I feel that with the Aurora, Evelo found a sweet spot in the inevitable compromises of design, implementation and cost. The Aurora is an ideal bike for aging folks, and I've been delighted by the way my Evelo Aurora has enabled me to really enjoy vigorous outdoor exercise in a way I thought I'd never have again. My Aurora has given me freedom and joy, and it's a very useful way to do little errands around town. Rather than having to force myself to exercise, I look forward to riding my Aurora.

Evelo Aries Bike Review: Looks Good, But Major Disappointments and Lack of Support
First off, let me tell you, my Evelo Aries bike is one good-looking ride. People can't help but notice it when I'm cruising around town or taking it on the train. But let me tell you, looks can be deceiving.
This bike of mine squeaks like nobody's business. And to make matters worse, the front wheel decided to loosen up on me within just a few days of riding. Talk about a bummer. And don't even get me started on the flats I've had to deal with. Two flats already, can you believe it? It's like the universe is conspiring against me and my bike.
Now, let's talk about the cables. They're supposed to be neatly routed through these fancy welded channels, but guess what? Those channels are as empty as my pockets after buying this bike. It's just plain sloppy craftsmanship, if you ask me. And to top it all off, there's this annoying rubbing sound whenever I shift the bike back and forth. It feels and sounds cheap, which is beyond embarrassing. I mean, come on, I spent a whopping $2600 on this thing!
But wait, there's more. Just the other day, I went to the grocery store and loaded up my backpack with a ton of groceries. I was all set to ride back home, battery fully charged, lights working perfectly. But guess what? When I stepped on the pedal, nothing happened. No assist whatsoever. I even tried using the throttle, but still, nothing. So there I was, pedaling my 65-pound tank of a bike all the way back home, over several miles of hilly terrain. Let me tell you, it was not a fun experience. Not fun at all.
I bought this bike with the intention of it being my sole means of transportation. I mean, it cost more than a scooter, for crying out loud. No car, no second bike, just this one. And boy, have I been let down. Big time.
I've reached out to the dealer, hoping for a refund. But you know what? Nada. And when I tried contacting the manufacturer directly, guess what I got? Nada again. It's like they don't even care about the issues I've been facing with their product.
So here's my advice to you, my fellow bike enthusiasts. Stay far, far away from Evelo Electric Bicycles. Do your research, because technology in this field is evolving rapidly. Don't make the same mistake I did. Save yourself the disappointment and find a bike that won't let you down like this one did.
