I purchased an aftermarket subwoofer/amplifier from said business on 04/23/22 and had it installed
I purchased an aftermarket subwoofer/amplifier from said business on 04/23/22 and had it installed. Unfortunately, soon after the installation, I started experiencing electrical issues with my vehicle. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the problem with the business, no solution was found. Frustrated, I decided to take my vehicle to the dealer where I originally purchased it. The dealer was able to identify the issue and informed me that the amplifier had been installed incorrectly by the stereo company. This incorrect installation had caused damage to certain sensors and resulted in a system short circuit. I have obtained written documentation from the dealer detailing the cause and effect of the problem. However, when I reached out to the company, they refused to accept any responsibility for the issue. Given the evidence I have, I believe it is only fair for the company to compensate me for the cost of rectifying the damage they caused.
I dropped off my 2019 Nissan Altima at a car audio installation place called "Exspert Electronics" on Friday (4/16)
I dropped off my 2019 Nissan Altima at a car audio installation place called "Exspert Electronics" on Friday (4/16). I wanted them to install a full car stereo system with a car alarm. The next day, I called the owner to check on the status of my car. During the phone call, he mentioned some issues. Around 12pm, I took an Uber from Rockford, Illinois, East Side to Exspert Electronics to address these issues. While I was there, the owner assured me that he would at least get the subwoofers working and also install a rear back-up camera. He said the car would be ready by 2pm, but I would have to come back for the remaining work in sections. This was a problem for me because their policy is supposed to be first come, first served, and I had been there first thing Friday morning when they opened to ensure I would be prioritized.
At around 1:15pm, I received a phone call informing me that my car was ready. When I arrived, I went inside to get the keys and then went back outside. That's when I noticed several problems. Firstly, there were opened boxes scattered all over the inside of the car, as if they had been thrown back in a rush. Secondly, the subwoofers were not properly installed, and I had to go back inside twice to have the owner correct them. It's worth noting that the owner tried to blame the amp for the issue, even though I had purchased the amp brand new from another audio installation place in Beloit, Wisconsin.
Furthermore, I discovered that the left speaker was not working properly once I left the shop. It seemed as though it hadn't been connected properly. When I called the owner to complain, he told me he would fix it on Monday, which made me furious. I expressed my dissatisfaction, stating that this was not what I paid for. He then told me to come back at 5pm, but by that time it was already 3pm. During the two-hour period, I encountered several issues, such as having to reposition the door panel wiring and trying to fix the gaps where the wiring had been installed, which ruined my day and caused unnecessary back-and-forth travel for a service that cost me $700.
I want to make it clear that this complaint is not directed towards the workers at Exspert Electronics, but rather towards the owner for rushing them and prioritizing other paying customers over me. I am requesting a refund of $400 out of the $700 I paid due to the poor installation, the mess left in my car, the need to readjust the wiring inside the door panels and car frames, the improper installation of the left subwoofer (which resulted in additional trips), and the overall poor quality of service. I have attached the receipt as proof of purchase. Copies of this complaint have also been sent to the ComplaintsBoard.com, Credit Union 1, and The Consumer Finance and Protection Bureau. Thank you for your assistance and time.
Sincerely,
Christopher ***
