Since st. Patricks day, the hours of employees has decreased which I knew ahead of time and some managers has cut loose the people who actually work hard to accomplish the so called "purple promise" while the "dead wood" have been allowed to stay as long as they pleased and the same managers would not monitor them or do not see that they're "hudwinking" the system by not following directives to go home when ordered to. These people claim that I would get the hours i'm supposed to and that I would be needed at other times which is fine. At the same token, I feel this is unfair because one manager, name withheld is always telling his team leaders that I must go home because I had too many hours even over his radio. He would approach me personally too. That's not an issue to me as long as everybody else is informed to do the same. What about the others that have not abided by the rules? He does not address them the same way he's done to me. I also observed that there has been favoritism of the people who do not have to loose money and go home that early.
Some of them have explained to me why employees of fedex ground have to be released because of lack of work or the full-timers need a break but on the other hand i'm hearing that managers are making people leave because they are just carrying their weight or intimidating them to follow what they say or else. This has been an ongoing problem on other occasions. I come to the conclusion that they are simply abusing their power or using it the wrong way to get their point across to the wrong package handlers/tuggers. One guy has just made sort manager at twilight tour and numerous people have complained about him already. I'm not saying I believe it because I did not witness his behavior. They say he's a cut throat and made some employees leave their positions because a higher manager ordered him to. The irony is that I worked well with him before he got promoted but I now worry this position got to his head which makes me uncomfortable with his authority. Whomever promoted him should not have done so. I do not want to release his name because quite a few others have acted the same way. He knows his job but is an inflexible, insensitive manager, sorry to say.
In addition, i've observed too many employees are getting over with extending their hours just so they do not loose money.in a way I can't blame them because economic times are tougher with them. Even though the sort manager has explained the reason for my early release, I feel that i'm singled out which makes my situation awkward. I hate to complain about the guy but I believe that not only him but others that work under his boss have to be confronted and reminded they everybody is equal and must comply with the same rules and directives whether it's hours, performance, ethics and the code of conduct of fedex ground.
There is more to say in the future. I hope you all are mindful about some of the concerning issues that not only I have but others as well.
